I can see Atiku actually winning the primaries. But he will lose the presidential election to GEJ. Buhari's only hope of winning the primaries to be held in Lagos is Tinubu.

But, Atiku can match Tinubu, Naira to Naira, Dollar to Dollar.

Time to break Tinubu's grip of Lagos state and it's treasury. Vote Jimi Agbaje as Governor. Tinubu's near absolute controle of APC cannot be good for Lagos or the Fed. republic of Nigeria.

Politics is a game of numbers, my friend. What the constitution says is totally irrelevant. The relevant aspect of the constitution is the clause that says " every Nigerian is eligible to contest elections anywhere in the country as long as he meets the age requirement and minimum educational level. Having said that, you and I know that it is totally foolhardy for an Hausa man to aspire to be the governor of Oyo state or for an Igbo man to aspire to be the governor of Borno state. He simply does not have the numbers on his side.
Lagos on the other hand is a different ball game. The state has a population of close to 20million. All Yoruba's ( immigrants and indigenes alike ) can not be more than 5 or 6 million. Besides, just like Igbos come and goes, Yoruba's come and go too. One my workers recently relocated back to Osun state. I also have someone who lives in Lagos while his wife and children are in Ekiti. Lagos has a very fluid demography. You have no exclusive claim to Lagos. The sooner you deal with it, the better for you. Otherwise, you will suffer a heart attack.

The governorship of any state in Nigeria is just too powerful to be given to non-indegenes of the state regardless of candidacy. Thank you for that. This settles the issue between me and you. What is left now is for the Igbos to really get political in Lagos. We do have the numbers to do some serious damage. But, my guys in Idumota, Alaba, Festac, Orile, Isolo, Island etc are only interested in their business. They just want to trade. Things might change in the future though.

During the debate there was a proposition that the non indigene claiming indigeneship (as in Igbo claiming non-Igbo land, because this is a matter concerning the Igbos only) would have to completely renounce their original state of origin. So if Emeka want to claim Lagos, he must completely renounce his Igboness and will get a discharge letter from his original state. If there is a war/conflict Emeka must fight on the side of his adopted state i.e. kill Igbos for Yorubas if necessary.

Wow !! that JAMB form. It seems like no real indigenous Lagosian has ever governed Lagos. I was meant to understand that both Tinubu and Fashola are also migrants from the South West. so, if migrants from the SW can govern Lagos, why not migrants from the SE ?.
I don't subscribe to the view that a migrant from Osun or Ekiti has more claims to Lagos than an Igbo, Calabar or Hausa man born and bred in Lagos. I believe the national assembly is looking into the matter right now.

Enugu state goverment after creation of Anambra sacked all Anambra civil servants on their payroll. Imolites and Enugites mock Anambrarians and call us ndi ogwu ego,illiterate traders and Omata boys. The bolded is not entirely true. Somebody has to jump start the freshly created Anambra state. Anambra after the creation had very few experienced civil servants living in the new Anambra state. Most of them were living and working in Enugu. The Anambra civil servants, on request of the new administrator, had to move from Enugu to Awka to kick off the new state.
How else do you expect a freshly created state with zero civil service structure to take off ?. Same thing happened when Ebonyi was created. It has been like that since the federal govt. started splitting the old Eastern region. Most civil servants living and working in Enugu had to go to their new states to begin the administration. Especially the very most senior civil servants.

The example is right there in the post you quoted. Fashola needs to build houses for those ladies in Orange overall you see everyday sweeping our highways. They are govt workers too. They have regular income, so they can afford to pay for the low-cost houses, if it's actually made " Low-cost" .

I don't know what his obsession of 40,000 naira is all about. Lagos State Government is not a charity organization that provides free housing to its people. The funds used in building this affordable housing are derived from taxes paid by the people of Lagos. If government should start giving out homes to every dick and harry, the government won't be able to continue to build more of this home. Obinoscopy needs to stop making it look as if most families bring home 40,000 naira as monthly take home. Obinoscopy, have you factored in a situation where both husband and wife work and earn monthly income? If husband and wife earn between 80,000 -120,000 naira as jointly income, they should be able to afford buying one of these flats. I don't see anything wrong if some can't afford this homes. It is like that in the U.S and other western countries. Buying a home with mortgage is not a must. Some families will still not be able to afford this even if the government sets the down payment at 100,000 naira and set the monthly payment at 10,000 naira. So what is Obinoscopy's point?


The reason why the U.S economy collapsed 6 years ago was as a result of government providing loans to people who in normal society could not have been able to afford buying home. The administration of George Bush made the homes available to a lot of low income earners and economy crashed after these people were unable to meet up with paying mortgage. So many banks collapsed as a result of this and so many people lost their homes to foreclosure.

I don't buy into argument that everyone should be able to afford to buy one of these flats being provided by Lagos State Government. The government has provided an enabling environment to workers who work and earn steady income. If you can't afford this, then work harder.

Your argument is flawed. The state government has no business in constructing COMMERCIAL housing. It should build SOCIAL houses with little profit motive. The houses bought and sold in the US and Europe are private houses owned by private developers or banks. A state govt should not build houses for sale. Definitely not at such prices.
