damosky12: The law is different from the principle. Friend, God said "bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,......if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to recieve it." . My brothers in the faith, Malachi 3:10 isnt written by a Man. God did. Whether you deny it or not. It is God's principle of expanding you. Learn from Abraham (Hebrews 7:2). The issue is "can you trust God to His word?"Damosky12, First to answer your question: I can trust God to his words. Like you said, the law of tithing is different from the principle of tithing (even though its a statement made in ignorance that could mislead people). Clearly from the Old testament, tithing is done cashless (only farm produce is brought) and these are also eaten by all in a feast-like setting at the temple before the LORD (depending on the kind of tithing; alcohol is also welcome). Now if you assume this to be the law of tithing, which is not the practice today, what is the principle of tithing? I can only assume the principle of tithing by you as shown in the new testament verse you quoted is from Heb. 7:2. I would only ask you to read the passage in the old testament from where that quotation is made (Gen 14, please take ur time and read the whole chapter, paying particular attention from verse 14) to get to whole story. After you are done with that passage, please answer the following questions: 1. What was the source of the tithe Abram paid to Melchizedek? ( Please note he was even still called Abram and not Abraham) 2. Did Abram make this tithe payment every month? (I suspect it was just a one off thing he did as there was no other mention of this kind of tithing again by Abra(ha)m in the OT, the much i know) 3. Did he pay this tithe out of compulsion or voluntarily (more like a gift to Melchizedek) after he was blessed Melchizedek? 4. Where was the tithe paid? 5. What were the contents of the tithe Abram gave to Melchizedek? If this is the principle you want us to follow, then please admit many of our pastors are not telling us the full truth. Please answer those five question for us to continue discussion on this topic. |
Jeezyy: the secret to receiving is giving, but people do n't know this. if i have the means give even N100b, i willYou said it quite well. But the big question is this....how do u give ![]() How was giving done in the early church and for what purpose was it done? If you answer this correctly then you will see that there is a little problem with the way we "give" these days especially what is done here by Mr. Adeboye. |
was there ever a 934 system? ![]() |
Seems u love numbers a lot. Please give me 10 ways to prepare and eat Garri. ![]() |
OP Please by the range rover and earn the big boy status and don't waste your time thinking of marriage.....its not for small boys. |
bukatyne: What is peace without happiness esp in marriage? If she's having problems at work, she can brush it off and look forward to going home to her hubby. Now it is the hubby that is tormenting her. The poster didn't specify is they hubby told her b/4 marriage or if he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day. How can he even say kneel or divorce? like seriously?I thought we had agreed there will be peace in the marriage, so happiness is what we are looking for. And i thought i had proposed a means to obtain that happiness, even if it will not be immediate (please re-read my post) So if she can't leave her hubby on the grounds of kneeling what do you propose for her to do? .....and if her talks to her hubby falls on deaf ears immediately after he raised the issue of kneeling down, and she cannot leave the marriage, what do u propose for her to do? Out rightly refuse to kneel down? Now the hubby should have sold the idea of kneeling to the wife (perfect), but this is not the case and he is not here on NL for you to tell him this. So what do you advice the OP to do in this case? |
The marriage would be peaceful as we both agree. The wife may not buy the idea now, but over time she will get be happy in her marriage (and not regret it) after she has acquiesced to the request of "Oga" and "Oga" has turned away from initiating a separation and has started showing her the usual unreserved affection. Later she could talk to him about it in more relaxed atmosphere if she does not still like the idea, stating gently her cons. No one is in bondage my dear. Its marriage. "Oga" was brought up seeing that act as the way of life (all through his life). It will not take "by fire by force" to change his orientation. This is what many fail to see. Please understand that i am not siding "Oga" as i am male. I don't even subscribe to anyone kneeling for me. But always know that no two marriages are the same whether stone age or "flying saucer" age. OP, its your choice. If you go ahead to use "by fire by force" and "21st century ideology" on a "stone age mentality" and it works for you, God bless you. I am just airing my view on your distress to bring good solution. |
calculusx: A patient dog eat the biggest bone. Iv discussed with oga chiteny and he has acted to me like a father. 3 gbam to my bossI checked through my mails, phone's text messages and call logs and i did not find any recent discussions on this matter with you. Though i have not checked through all the write-ups on NL but i don't think i will find any of such discussions either. Please can you remind me where we had that discussion? ![]() Oga Sawyerr, you know what best to do to a good friend. i rest my case. ![]() |
babyosisi: I don't kneel before anyone including my husband to serve them food let alone kneel to watch the bolus of garri go down their throatNo two marriages are the same. Because you or your friends don't do it does not mean it is the standard for all marriages. Good a thing you are married. Put yourself in the OP's shoes before answering the question below or give further advice: If your husband requires the same from you will you ignore him and choose to rather end the marriage or will you acquiesce to his request and have a peaceful and happy marriage? |
sawyerrola: Mr Fowler, the new face of your SUV. it just keeps getting better. stay tuned for full photo shoot.Bros is this your SUV? I no recognize am again o. Custom pimped for a big boy!! Enjoy it and let me know hen you want to dispose it. At least I am the second to ask, and for friendship sake, I believe you will look at my request with more favour that the first guy (I no mention names o) that requested. |
Dlemah: Number one fault..neva u tel ur friends woteva goes on in ur mariage...NEVERIn as much as I do not fully subscribe to the kneeling down thing on personal grounds, I just wanted to correct the assertion highlighted above. It's not right and it has been the cause of most fracas in marriages. The man and his wife are not equal in marriage. |
adenitemi: I have an audio recording of that conversation. It still beats my understanding why Abiola was that cheerful! Can you put up the recording here. I would like to listen to it. |
I do that... when my wife does the cooking. ![]() |
shdemidemi: I will shock you with a statement- We are not sinners because we break the Law or commit all these sins you have in your head but we are sinners because we are sons of Adam. Think and think about that statement before replying. Why can't one see the person who likes his post? Mods una need to upgrade o. I like this post. |

Na wa o. No comments shaa. maybe there is a passage in the boble for his actions which i do not know anything about. ![]() |
DrummaBoy: We've had people come to NL asking if they could tithe lottery money; we've had armed robbers and kidnappers tithe stolen money; many yrs ago Oyakhilome refused to return cash stolen from a top hotel in Lagos but given to his church as tithe and offering. These stories lend a hand to the fact that there something skewed about tithing. ![]() |
Rhymeyjohn: ...... Mal3:10 “bring ye all the tithes into the store house, that there may be meat in mine house. ........ Meat as used in the bible represents food; John the Baptist meat was locust and wild honey.matt3:4. Meat could be interchanged with bread, water, wine, milk.Ish55:1. Bread (meat or food ) spiritually speaking represents the word of God. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word. Matt4:4. Jesus, ]the Word[/b in person is also called the bread of life.John6:48. ......... It has been establish that [b]meat is not just physical things but the word of God. So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.rom10:17. The purpose of receiving tithes is so that the word would not be lacking in God’s house. Obviously, the orphanages and charity organisations are not receive your tithes if “that there may be meat (God’s word) in my house” is correct because they don’t provide you with meat. This i would call grand deception. And someone is so "spirit filled" to call this "rhema!" I am short of words. Sometimes i feel ashamed when i hear some things from my fellow Christians. Some Christians would stop at nothing (including twisting the word of God, with many biblical references) in order to keep others in bondage for their personal benefit. Meat as used in Malachi is now spiritual (word of God). And then i have to give up money in order to get this "word of God". Simply put, i need to pay to get the word of God?!!! ![]() I am ashamed. I do not serve a God i pay money to hear his word. The God i serve gives me his word and does things for me without me having to pay him money. |
One thing to remember is that God never asked the people in the old testament to pay money as tithe. There was money as means of exchange then. Does that mean He did not know what He was doing or suddenly there is a new revelation from the "holy spirit" to these modern day pastors that God needs the money now? Please look into the OT very well and understand what God was actually teaching his people, in order to understand why He asked them to tithe. Then you will have a better understanding of what tithing is all about. I do not know why i am still commenting in topics like these. I just remembered i told myself i will not have any more thing to say about tithing topics on NL. |
Ehhm Bros RhymingJohn, All the whole things you wrote here lack substance and are completely skewed and would easily deceive those who do no have a good back ground in the the bible (those who open bible only on Sundays when their pastors are teaching). This is all i have to say for now. |
alexleo: Yeah you are right and that's also my style. Nothing in this world is a do or die for me except the salvation of my soul.Right on point my brother. Faith without works is dead and I always try to tell people this. If u believe a thing act your faith out. For the atheists I have replies to u. |
sawyerrola: waaatttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u serious they just scratched this new baby? very sorry about this. too new for bruises o!Too new my brother. Because they see say na Corolla. So them feel say all na the same . They know they can't try this on the other machine na. Them dey give me my way when i dey inside that one . excellence13: If they were bought when the shares were well over 40 Naira its alot. I don't know at what price they were bought.Really? Are you sure of this? I was actually eyeing this stock to buy it o. In any case, 16 thousand shares time N40 is 640,000 for each child. This is not so much for someone to open a thread and cry about. If the assertion is that the money is stolen, where are the proofs? Like i said i would have done more than this for my children. |
... Only 15 thousand plus shares? The man no invest well for him children. i would have done much better for mine ![]() |
I thought they said he was getting married last month? does any one have the picture or video of that ocassion. i have been longing to see something on. |
Emekayoung: On the day of my interview i hoped and prayed to God to guide me and to show me the way to the success lane, after 5days of sleepless nights, praying and giving thanks to God,still God abandoned me to fail the interview,am so so disappointed and i think i will just be myself for now without church or prayers or anything. My initial reaction would have been "you are not a serious boy. Go and sit down somewhere". But after reading the comments of others i thought i should rephrase the initial comment this way: The key to your success in life lies with you and God. Always do this for any challenge u have before you: Pray like the success of your "interview" depends solely on it and prepare/study like your success depends solely on it. i guess you did only the former and not the latter. And just to give u a peek/secret into what i do: I tell God in my prayers that the only way i can understand that it is not his will for me to do anything is if He frustrates all my efforts at achieving it . This is my personal agreement with God, because i know who i am. When i have my eyes on something, nothing stops me (perhaps only God). Yours might be different.Wish you better success next interview. P.S Please note that forsaking the gathering of the brethren, praying and praising will only cause negative impact in your life. |
richjah: Please I need to know why 80% of all fathers die before the mothers! You can also observe this yourself and you will realise what am saying is true! How can we stop this? You will know after your are married and given birth to children (probably your children will ask the same question too) .Nonsense!! ![]() |
