Politics / Re: FCCPC Gives Traders 1-Month Deadline To Crash Prices Of Goods by chival(f): 1:13am On Aug 30
Production costs, overhead costs and import duties have gone up exponentially. Traders have to make a profit. Nigeria does not have a conducive atmosphere and structure for manufacturing.

If they are interested in driving the prices of goods down, they have to tackle these issues, starting with bringing down import duties drastically. Yes, the idea behind high import duties is noble, but you can't eat your cake and have it. Local manufacturing is suffering from insanely high operational costs especially fuel and power. If the government cannot do anything about that, they should just enable imports to allow the citizens breathe. It is a band-aid solution, but like I said, you can't eat your cake and have it.

I don't see the good telling her will do. She doesn't do it consciously, so she probably won't be able to do anything about it. You could both look online for ideas/remedies that could help. A lot of people drool. It's no big deal.

I like how WhatsApp and co. have integrated AI into everything, but are you sure the people Buhari called lazy youths won't be lazier with this? Just to wish someone a happy birthday, they'll go to AI to compose it. Won't this have side effects in Africa?
AI is helpful but the disadvantages may soon outweigh the advantages. Most students don't even bother doing assignments and writing papers on their own - AI to the rescue! Many projects and term papers are now written with AI. AI may rob future generations of their ability to think critically and intelligently. It's already happening.

If this is true, then the parents should also receive part of the blame. How can you allow your child to continue schooling in a school where the structures are noticeably unsafe? I had no idea there were warning signs.

I am very knowledgeable on the cultures and traditions in every part of Igboland and I can tell you that your friend has not told you the full story or real reason why he must perform that ritual. Nobody in any part of igboland will force anyone to take part in traditions or rituals he/she doesn't want to . Traditions are very much practiced but it's optional these days as you can choose to partake or not to.
In addition to what you've written, I have not heard of any so called ritual where a human life is bound with an animal's in Igboland. Neither have I heard of any part of Igboland that has that belief about crocodiles. If there is, it might be in Abia or Imo state. I haven't heard of it though. I am Igbo and well versed in Igbo culture. There's more going on here than what has been stated.

Praticing Christian who doubles as a practising p.rostitute, and to think she had the guts to wash her dirty linen in public. Now that she's trending, family and friends will know she sleeps with men for money. You can't be shameless, stupid and immoral all at the same time.

Nigerian girls will never learn. She's lucky she wasn't murdered for ritual purposes. I don't buy into this stupid hookup mentality. The guy owes her nothing. He took advantage of her stupidity and loose morals. She should go and nurse her wound jeje. Nigerian girls and their entitlement mentality.

I found this funny. Dysmenorrhea is no joke though. So sorry. A friend of mine during our youth service days had the same issue. Drinking stout was her own remedy. Perhaps you should give it a shot if you are open to drinking alcohol. She took it in small sips. One bottle usually lasted her the entire cycle.

Car Talk / Re: Nigerians Don't Know How To Use Headlights. by chival(f): 7:45pm On Nov 14, 2023
Cooolme:
Greetings everyone, I've been driving for over a year now and I've noticed we don't know how to use headlights in this country even my friend that visited from the US complained same thing.
I don't know if it's selfishness or what but how will someone be on very high beam even when opposite an incoming vehicle, I almost entered a ditch because an SUV beamed on my small Corolla to the point I couldn't even see properly, are there rules set for all these in this country?
God's willing if I don't leave this country within the next 2 years I'm getting a bigger vehicle and I will purposely install massive led lights I will be counter beaming people till they notice their mistake.
This is why I don't drive at night. My vision is not so good to begin with. When you add to that the harsh glare of headlights from oncoming vehicles, it becomes almost impossible to see especially on roads without demarcation.

Romance / Re: New Marriage About To Crash. by chival(f): 4:33pm On Aug 09, 2023
Ehinjuola:
My husband is not the same man I fell in love with.

My husband changed totally after wedding day, in fact, it started on the wedding night and its giving me a lot of concern.

It's not that he is not talking to me or we are fighting, but he is not the cheerful happy person anymore.

After months of trying to get what the problem is, he finally opened up to me and I don't know what my fault is, I think he is overreacting.

My husband works in an insurance company and he is just a junior staff, he earns 150k per month, so he is not doing that bad.

When we wanted to get married, my dad wrote the wedding list and everything he would bring, when he saw them, he fumed that they were too much and they should reduce it but my dad insisted that he won't collect it twice, I also told him if he really loves me, he would provide them, he could get help from his family too, it is called bride price and other things, and it is once.

We had little issue then but he later resolved it.

He brought everything they ask him for

During the wedding, my parents told him to buy a cow, rent a hall and decorate it then they'll take care of other things. He said he didn't have money for a big hall and he would prefer a field ground but my dad insisted that rain could disrupt things and he has many people coming.

That almost cause issues too, I had to support him with 50k to get the hall because I know who my dad is, he won't back out.

I didn't know how he did it, he took the hall and designed it, he bought cow too.

His family brought food and everything went fine and that was it.

I don't know what was keeping him moody until he spoke up.

He said I couldn't fight for him, I was there supporting my parents and watch them extorting him, did I even know he had to collect loan to pay for those things?

I got angry because he used the word 'extorting'.

He was the one that wanted to have my hand in marriage and if he cherish me, he should do all they wanted since he is not paying twice.

After I said this, he stopped talking in the house, he comes home, eat and go to bed.

I tried talking to him but he would listen but not talk, he is cold to himself and prefer his privacy.

Have I said something wrong?

I don't like whats happening. My marriage is too young to be going through all these.

I am tired, I don't know what to do.
Your husband is right to be angry. This excuse for extravagance during weddings that I hear brides and their families use, is very immature. You should have stood up to your dad and made him understand your husband couldn't afford all that. Your dad had ABSOLUTELY no right to demand the cow etc. You are lucky your husband didn't back out of the wedding entirely. You sound like a "daddy's girl" and that will only breed problems in your marriage. Marriage is for mature women, and I should know, I've been married for almost 15years. I'll advise you to apologize to your husband and limit your dad's interference in things that concern your husband and your marriage. Most men will find it emasculating.

Technology Market / Re: Get The Airtel Smart Box, For Absolutely Free by chival(f): 11:27pm On Jul 28, 2023
Airtel is grossly inept in the area of customer service. . Late last month, I was looking to buy a new router for my home. Airtel was my first choice. I drove for miles in search of an Airtel Office or outlet to no avail. I went to three separate airtel offices listed online only to be told they had moved. The whole thing was made worse by the fact that there is no customer service support of any kind. You can't chat with a customer care rep either online or through a phone call. I finally gave up and went with mtn.

You have a point. However, dogs have been known to maul humans, especially certain breeds of dogs and it is not restricted to Nigeria. Horror stories of dog attacks abound online.

Dogs that kill have to be put down(killed). That's common practice. It will be a gross anomaly if that dog is still alive right now.
Crime / Re: Nigerians Recount Their Terrible, Gruesome Experiences With Armed Robbers. by chival(f): 6:57pm On Jul 07, 2023
Years ago when I was a teenager, armed robbers visited our home shortly after the death of my youngest sister. My mom had packed my late sister's clothes into a very large suitcase and stowed it with other suitcases on top of the wardrobe. The day the armed robbers visited, I was at my mom's restaurant with her and my dad. My maternal grandma, my younger brother and two other distant relatives who were living with us were at home.

When the armed robbers arrived, they calmly explained to my grandma that they were robbers but that they would not harm her. They then locked my brother and the other two relatives in one of the toilets and proceeded to rob the house. They pulled down the suitcases on top of the wardrobe in the master bedroom and searched all of them, taking away valuable items and gadgets. For some reason, they did not touch the suitcase containing my late sister's things even though it was the largest and most expensive looking. True to their words, they harmed no one in the house but they carted away every valuable thing they could lay their hands on.

Typical NAFDAC, as the fake food safety agency that it pretends to be.

If NAFDAC is really caring for public safety , it should impose a compresive ban on all sprite drinks and force the company to recall all sprite currentlyin circulation, and order the immediate stop to any further production of the drinks until the company can sccessful demonstrate that their drinks are safe.

How is alerting Nigerians going to prevent people unknowingly consuming the unsafe drinks?
It might be difficult to recall the ones that have been sold to retailers who bought from other retailers, if you know what I mean. Sometimes, the purchase chain is quite long. However, alerting the public will make consumers stay away from the product and protect themselves.

Do they still do that? Their is a machine that you can print your card with 24hrs of the day in front of the bank.

I have also been debited twice for card I printed few weeks ago from same bank though I initiated the debit card printing from the bank's card machine.

If the money is removed not for the purpose it meant for the he needs to be careful.
A new ATM card can be printed immediately in your presence at the bank upon your request if your card is stolen, lost or damaged. I have done this with Zenith. You'll still be charged for it. However, in the case of expiry, the bank prints a new card for you shortly before the old one expires and you will be notified. My GTBANK Mastercard is usually printed and ready for pick up 2 to 3 weeks before expiry. I believe the idea is to prevent you from being stranded once your card expires.

If you were debited twice for a new card, you should visit your bank and lodge a complaint about it.
Business / Re: GTB: I Was Shocked With a Transaction not initiated be me! (pictured) by chival(f): 11:34pm On Jun 27, 2023
They do. Once your card expires, you will be debited to cover the cost of a new card, after which you will be advised to pick up your new card at a designated branch. The debit amount is usually N1075.00.
