On the Internet; several websites; there are gory pictures of decapitated bodies; videos of decomposing torsos – all testimonies of the failure of the political elites and the national leadership to address a seeming collapse of state security and the guaranty of liberty and life. The world sees Nigeria from the gory images of Jos and concludes that Nigeria is in transition to its disintegration. Jos has become symbolic of the crass opportunism; absence of vision and insufficiency of willpower among the political class to lead the country as one united federation. Most importantly, it is revealing of the evil of corruption on the state; the distortion of values by a leadership steeped in larceny; and the erasure of the required capacity to lead a-right. The thousands that have been brutally murdered in the yearly Jos mayhem are all from the class denied access to national power and national wealth. All victims of the injustice of decades of mismanagement of the national wealth by a few powerful elites; if you carefully read the online reports and the videos on Jos, you will see the tragedy that has become this country; our country, called Nigeria and why the New Media must be a rallying tool for Nigerians to come together to erase the evil –a lecherous political class- that have happened upon us in the 50 years we have existed as one country under a body of leeches. It is that evil Mrs. Hilary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, attacked in Abuja during her visit to the country several months back. I share this piece again with you in the belief that those who hold this country hostage can be removed only by a common understanding of what constitutes our common foe. That common foe that rendered Odi desolate; made millions of youths that could have been IT experts militants in the Niger Delta creeks; or those other millions, the almajiris, who must begged to live in the north and even those millions in Lagos, jobless graduates waking up every day to a life of prostitution and drugs. It is that common foe Mrs. Clinton attacked in Abuja those eerie days that have remained part of us. As this report was being drafted, Zamfara State officially announced that it has over one million children out of school. The pronouncement was made by the Director, Junior Secondary Schools of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Sani Mailafiya, Zamfara State. With that record, Zamfara leads other states as having the highest number of such children. In numerous other states of Nigeria’s 36, the statistics are not less frightening. In fact, a survey report by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) released in the Q2 2013, ranked Nigeria top of 12 countries where a large population of school children are not in the classrooms. According to the UNESCO Education for All Global Monitoring Report (EAGMR) report, one out of every five Nigerian children is out of school. In all, approximately 10.5 million young Nigerians have never seen the classrooms. The statistics get more frightening with the poor or complete absence of basic computer access or knowledge to these young Nigerians that would form the generation of its leaders in the not so distant future. An agreeable estimate among many experts is that well over 80% of young Nigerians of between the age of 6 and 16 have no access and have never touched a computer. For this huge population of young people, a digital divide stares at them that would effectively cut them off from any semblance of relevance in the already evolved Knowledge or Digital Age. When experts use the term Digital Divide ....... http://itedgenews.com/wp/2015/06/15/when-nigerian-children-grow-up-they-will-be-digitally-divided-2/ |
PC market declines by 9.6% within the MEA – IDC Q1 2015 Report PC MarketUnstable naira is cutting down on PC import but market is still not showing positive signs for local PC assembly companies such as Omatek, Zinox and Brian Systems. In its new report, the International Data Corporation (IDC) has revealed that PC importation to Nigeria and other markets within the Middle East and Africa (MEA) is shrinking potentially cutting down vendors’ earning and growth projections. The IDC report for Q1 of 2015 blamed falling value of the local currencies. In the last 10 months, the Nigerian naira has lost nearly 40% of its value against major currencies such as the US dollar and the British pound. This has forced consumers to look inward and has impacted negatively on the PC import market for major international vendors such as HP and Lenovo. http://itedgenews.com/wp/2015/06/15/naira-fluctuations-crash-pc-import-in-nigeria/# |

For Zainab Ismail, Islamic law student, the project means she no longer needs to visit the university book library. “[I find] anything I search for,” says Ismail. “It is fast and works even without a connection. It helps me a lot before and after classes” Students are not the only ones to use the service, which is viewed as especially cost-effective at a time when funding for education has been cut. “Lecturers use it to update themselves, to conduct research, writing journals and their projects,” says Ibrahim Barkindo, a teacher at Ahmadu Bello University. “Sometimes we read on screen; sometimes we save some of the pages and print them for later use.” Other academics are proving slow to adopt the new technology, preferring the traditional library for their research. “There are some categories of scholars that are really not too comfortable or not technology-savvy,” Abdullahi Musa Ibrahim, university librarian, says. http://itedgenews.com/wp/2015/06/12/nigerian-students-get-access-to-offline-library/# |

APC leader Senator Bola Tinubu yesterday June 10th reacted to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the new Senate President, saying he cannot recognize the Kangaroo arrangement that produced Saraki as the new Senate President. Speaking at the party secretariat, Tinubu said "I will never recognize such a kangaroo arrangement that produced Bukola as the Senate President. Or how do you want me to recognise a man who deliberately defied his own party because of his personal interest? It is not done anywhere. Therefore, recognizing Bukola as the Senate President after all he had done to our party today, having gone against the wish and pattern of our great party, honestly will amount to endorsing impunity, and which you should all know I will not. For me to recognize Senator Bukola as the Senate President, he must show remorse for today’s action. He had earlier promised to defy the party and the deed has been done. You don’t do that in politics. Personal interest must not override that of the party that beget you. It’s a spoken and silent rule of the game, which all and sundry must abide with. I’m not God, but as far as this party is concerned, I’m a leader and I know what is good for the party at the appropriate time. Speaking now is not for the party, but for myself. I cannot recognize Bukola as the Senate President.” he said http://lindaikeji..com/2015/06/im-not-god-but-i-wont-recognize-saraki.html#more

For those who will commit cybercrimes or vandalise telecom infrastructures, here’s what the law says, depending on the gravity of the offence: Seven years imprisonment for offenders of all kinds of computer related fraud, including but not limited to: email bombing, computer trespass, computer contamination, computer related forgery, cyber-squatting, online pornography, cyber-terrorism, and cyber-stalking. It is 15 years to life imprisonment for tampering with any critical national information infrastructure or causing grievous bodily harm or death to any person in cause of vandalising the information infrastructure After a long wait, the Cybercrime Prohibition and Prevention Act has become part of our legal system. Signed into law by former President Goodluck Jonathan just before leaving office on May 29, 2015, the law opens a new chapter on Nigeria’s cyber-presence as it now provides the legal framework to address security breaches or online offences as they relate to the entire spectrum of ICT. http://itedgenews.com/wp/2015/06/10/finally-the-law-comes-against-cybercriminals/# |

Johntobi56:information is power ...now read this ...those dude sold jumia...wake up Why Owners Of Jumia Sold Off Their Firm Inside the long horizontal office dormitory built beside their 90,000-square foot-warehouse, the largest campus in West Africa, where young men with an average age of 23 attend to thousands of online shoppers at the speed of light, Afeador, noted: “Jumia was an exciting one and a-half-year journey for us. We are extremely proud of Jumia and wish all the best to the company and all the people here.” If Afeador’s message was not clear enough, his partner, Kehinde put the message succinctly. “As we move on to start our own businesses, we owe a lot to every member of the team, together we made history, together we have built Nigeria’s first and biggest online retail brand; a fate we never would have achieved without you.” The meeting ended an era in Jumia, which has won several local and international awards for pioneering Nigeria’s first e-commerce website. Kehinde is venturing into logistic business while Afaedor’s next move remains unknown for now. “We have left Jumia going to a month now and we no longer own a stake in the company. Afeador and I have also parted ways but a time will come when I will talk about my new business, a logistics management company. For now, everyone will do his businesses separately,” he said. Now that the new investors have taken over, announcing Nicolas Martin and Jérémy Doutté of AIH as Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Jumia a few months ago, marketing communication experts, who spoke with The Nation, assumed that many factors could be responsible for the sale of the Nigerian e-commerce brand by its co-founders http://www.theparadigmng.com/?p=14182 Reliable sources revealed that Rocket Internet, owners of Jumia.com decided to purchase over twelve domain names registered under a company called Rocket Internet, the intention which is to hijack the influx of online shoppers from Konga.com over to theirs. The obnoxious act according to findings has affected Konga in over eleven countries including Nigeria where its major consumers are. This illegal online squatting embarked upon by Jumia has a look-alike online address like konga and as soon as the link is clicked, it directs the shopper to Jumia’s official site. http://www.societyreelnews.com/rocket-internet-owners-of-jumia-attacks-kongas-online-business-registers-look-alike-web-address-to-lure-customers/ I am sorry...these are facts |
