Foreign Affairs › Re: Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Sends 7000 Staff On Leave Amid Sanctions. by chronique(m): 10:02am On Mar 22, 2022

The way some people think is quite amazing.

Even the European countries who imposed the sanctions are also feeling the cost. Their Truckers are on strike, farmers are on strike, jobs are being cut, people are protesting etc.

The US own hasn't come yet, just wait for it. The sanctions blow back will be felt worldwide.

The point here is that even with the Sanctions, Russia will not change its independent foreign policy and will see out the Ukrainian operation to its logical conclusion.

The security of a country comes first.
Some don't know this. Comments on this Russia-Ukraine crisis has made me understand how a lot of Nigerians voted for buhari. Their reasoning is based on sentiments and emotions and unfortunately, those things are the least considerations when it comes to national security. It's even funnier to see people who practically queue for hrs to buy fuel in Nigeria, keep yapping about how Russia would be done in few months time. A country that can afford to pay 2/3 salaries and retain other benefits despite workers being on leave, hasn't done bad in the face of dwindling income and all these sanctions. The Russians themselves have not denied that the sanctions has affected them but they are ready to weather the storm. So long as they they can provide food and other basic necessities for their citizens, they will be alright. The same cannot be said about Nigeria that isn't facing sanctions. Airlines are about shutting down, media houses are about shutting down, gtb has even reduced its working hours daily due to cost of diesel... But our people on Nairaland are more fixated on the suffering Russia would experience. After typing online with 100mb bonus from their network provider, they would go back to reality and hold stomach out of hunger or queue in the sun for petrol just to buy 5 litres of fuel.

Sane people always knew this. Under Ghadafi, he outlawed all militia groups and none of them dared forment trouble in his country. Same thing for Sadam hussein. The middle east is a lot different from Europe. Some of these countries need strong personalities and leaders to hold them down sometimes with brute force if necessary. This is the reality of that region.

Let Russia try it, Japan will ground those munitions within an hour.
Putin is desperately trying to ignite a world war, but others are careful not to acede to his antics.
This is not because Russia is more powerful than the rest of the world but they know that Putin has nothing other than Nuclear power which might cause the entire world collateral damage.
How do you people confidently make unintelligent comments on global issues like this? Are you typing based on your emotions or based on reality? I don't know what the Japanese were thinking when they were sanctioning Russia. Were they expecting Russia to give them a round of applause for a job well done? Every nation should put her personal interests first, before making any global decision. That is what wise people do.

One thing I don't like about law as a profession is that, it lacks principles. Mike ozekhome can be seen in court today, defending apc members for a particular issue and tomorrow, he'd be in court defending PDP members in another court, for the same issue.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Why I Stand With Russia. by chronique(m): 4:29am On Mar 22, 2022
I've been planning to do a detailed explanation of how we got here but I haven't had the time. You have done reasonably well with this. Americans as a people are lovely people but they are being led by a dubious government. A government that has a very distabilizing foreign policy. Currently, America and the EU have banned all Russian media outlets through which the Russians can show the world their own side of the story. This is against the principle of a free press. But the moment Russia banned Facebook, they started saying it's a fight against freedom of speech. The fact that they have a different set of rules for themselves, and a different set for the rest of the world, shows you how much double standards they hold. Good a thing, Americans are beginning to question these things.

USA underestimated Russia military information intelligence.
Russia will have at least over 500K people in Ukraine gathering information for Russia military.
USA radars are overrated or not good enough just like they failed in Saudi to detect those Russia drones.
USA said its sharing information to Ukraine but same USA can’t spot Russia armed drone watching those equipments moved to shopping mall.
I have been following a channel where they give us accurate information on the war in Ukraine. The owners of the channel are based in Canada. Unfortunately, they have had to shut down today because authorities in the west(USA, Canada and the EU) are hunting down people and news channels that dares give a different opinion from what the MSM dishes out. They said the lives of their team members are at risk in the different western countries and as such, had to shut down their coverage of the war. This now makes it evident to me that the so called democracy preached by the west, is just a ruse. These guys were giving us live updates and videos every day. Videos that MSM doesn't show. My question is: why are they hiding the truth from the public?

Leave them to be blaming Putin and Russia that is an exporting country. The basic things humans need for survival(food, energy, etc), Russia can comfortably provide for her people. Countries importing are the ones to suffer most.

Is that how countries just fight wars? Besides, we all know that they are a lot more equipped than the Nigerian army and as such, cannot be compared. If you put them against the Russian army, they are certainly going to get whipped.

Taking a flight from one place to another and landing safely, is a miracle one should thank God for. When you are up in the sky and a plane starts malfunctioning, it's as good as death is at the corner. You can't do anything to save yourself other than to wait for the worst to happen.

The actions of the US just shows they should never be trusted. Your ally has been asking for something since but you refused to do it. Now that you have a problem with Russia and you have seen that your ally is already looking in another direction, you are now running back to them to do what you didn't do for so long.

No. They don't need to carpet bomb Ukraine. That's where the use of thermobaric missiles come in. It's used for locations with heavily fortified formations. Those who don't die from the blast, will die by the extreme temperature that comes from the missiles. The missile sucks up available oxygen in that environment and leaves the vicinity extremely hot in temperature thereby causing exhaustion and instant death.

Lol, the UK maintains its position as one of the strongest militaries in the world and you know it. And even if they are weak, which African military can match them ? Be honest, name just one.

Meanwhile the UK Javeline missiles have been obliterating scores of overrated Russia tanks in Ukraine.
Nothing special about the British military. They are always hiding under the apron of the US army. The withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan is a clear pointer to that. The moment the US started pulling out, Britain started scrambling to pull out all her soldiers. If they were that strong, they would not have panickly withdrawn their troops too.
Foreign Affairs › Re: War In Ukraine: 'America Is Learning The Art Of Humility' by chronique(m):
The mistake the US and the west are making, is treating Russia like an outcast/enemy. The political and security stability of Eastern Europe can only be effective with the west cooperating with Russia. No matter how much they make Russia look like a villain, Russia would still hold significant influence in what happens around eastern Europe. The earlier the west realizes this, the better for the world. The US and Europe should draw Russia closer rather treat her as an enemy. One more thing, if Russia successfully defeats all the western coalition in Ukraine, that would be the beginning of the decline of NATO and western influence globally. Countries from the Middle East and Africa would start shifting towards Russia for security alliances. They have proven themselves in Syria and it has helped boost their image globally.

In Greece, a group of protesters threw red paint at a NATO ship that had just berthed, asking NATO to leave their country. As different protests are gradually springing up in Europe, one thing I have noticed is that Russia hasn't used energy supply(gas) as a war tool to the EU countries sanctioning him. I really must commend Putin for that cos if he had done that, by now the protests would have been seriously massive as it would have started leading to so many untold hardships. Putin seems to be more honorable than the leaders from the west.

Thats the reason why China will not over step their boundaries because if all American companies, Japanese and Korea manufacturers withdraw from China their economy will suffer. They also depends on imports to get foods , oil and gas as well as raw materials, above all they need to exports their finished goods to generate revenue and North America is their biggest matket not even Africa.
US businesses would lose global competitiveness if they cut ties with China as they can't get the cheap labor and standards they get there elsewhere. Let me send you a CNBC article to read. They both enjoy a symbiotic relationship.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Most of you can afford an iPhone cos it's manufactured in China. If same phone is manufactured in the US, the cost would be extremely high? As far back as 2007-2009, authentic made in America jeans was selling for as much as 10k+... The Chinese cheap labor is also helping the American economy. All the big American companies are outsourcing their manufacturing to China so they can remain competitive in the market.

Leave all those programmed robots to be typing cluelessly. I bet most of them don't know that 50-60% of America's manufacturing is done in China. Without that, Americans can't survive as the cost of production in the US would be too high for them.

Problem is, Russia would have to be selling everything on a discount to survive. Not good for then. Not like they really rich before now. They will survive but barely. Question is. Is barely enough?
Russia has the 11th biggest economy in the world and they are more of an exporting nation than importing. They might struggle a bit in the short term but would definitely bounce back. We need to brace up for another recession any time soon. Demand for the dollar is going to drop in the nearest future and the value of the dollar would shed some basis points which would obviously affect countries with a vast majority of their reserves in the US dollar. It's really going to be messy pretty soon.

The first mistake that the guys at the white house made was treating Russia like some small country on the map with little to no strategic resource of importance, like North Korea.
It's one decision that would come back to hunt the west. In all of these, I have never seen them proffer a peaceful solution to the crisis at hand. All their approach has been such that shows they truly enjoy the confrontation with Russia. While the Russians would suffer in the immediate future, the west would lose as well in the long run. A lot of realignment and balancing of power globally is about to happen and the west would lose a significant portion of the power they weild globally.
