If Russia line up missile in Canada will US agree? Make una dey use una sense abeg.
Most people are driven by their emotions and sentiments on this topic, and not logic. So, do not expect most of them to give meaningful answers or make meaningful comments. I think most of them do not even have an idea of the kind of relationship that has been brewing between US and Russia for over a century now.

Let's take a back seat for a second.

Like do this people what it will mean for NATO to be like we can't accept Ukraine because Russia said so?

an outsider dictating for a bloc?

imagine you going to the Army to tell them not to accept your brother's application. Who give you such loud?
That's not what it implies. Before you take decisions on a global level, you need to understand the history of the countries involved, understand how NATO came into existence and how it affects Russia as a country. Russia is a world power just like America. You can't undermine her national security in any way. Ukraine should have maintained the principle of neutrality like Finland. If that had been done, we would not be having this discussion.

backbencher:
Should Ukraine become Russia's 'buffer' when it clearly does not want to?

(Your question is valid by the way, but Ukraine too has rights. Better not take sides. )
That was what Putin asked them for. That they maintain neutrality just like Finland. Finland has never been under any threat from Russia and they have been living peacefully as neighbors cos they maintain the principle of neutrality. They are not in NATO.

It is time for the developing nations to immediately find alternative to SWIFT and all other finance regulations that depend almost totally on these belligerent western imperialists for control. The world was created free and shouldn't revolve eternally around the dictates of colonialists and imperialists..The west as now enjoyed almost 200 years of total global domination of affairs. We need a change, since all they care about is their interests and people..
This is the most important thing. Finding an alternative to SWIFT. Africa's tech experts should start looking at doing this so we don't eternally have to depend on the west. We never can tell what the future would bring.

I'm equally surprised at his response too. How would anyone say they are not aware there's a war in Ethiopia? Lol.

Shame on you Reno
Who doesn't know there's been war in Ethiopia? How come people are aware there's war in Ukraine but are not aware of the one in Ethiopia that has been raging for long? I'd be really surprised though that people do not know there's war in Ethiopia.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Ukrainian War: Time To Call Europeans To Order by chronique(m): 10:25pm On Feb 26, 2022
I honestly don't know what America and NATO have in mind with their expansion eastward. Since NATO was formed, it has not been attacked by any country. It's not like they need more soldiers or money or whatever... So, what is the reason for their advancement towards Russia, knowing fully well that the US and Russia do not have a smooth relationship and this dates back to the soviet days. What exactly is the need for the expansion?

The information war is real.

It will be difficult for Russian info feed to surmount the western news feed due to language barrier and vast army of internet warriors and main stream media. Many of the videos on twitter are fake.

It’s obvious to anyone following this event that “someone” is advising Zelensky not to negotiate a surrender. Rather the US wants his government moved to a third country and possibly continue the war and a possible insurgency. This is sad! I feel sad because any insurgency ops would literally destroy Ukrainian cities and many deaths.

I had hoped Zelensky negotiated Ukraine’s neutrality and halted this war. But those whose interest is to bleed Russia would want this war so prolonged to achieve a political goal. I am not happy!

Russia halted operations Last night hoping Zelensky was serious about ceasefire negotiations. Now day 3, they resumed military operations.
It's obvious he's being teleguided. He was the one who put a call to Putin yesterday for talks. I guess they used that tactic in buying more time so the weapons from Poland and other places, can come in. Sad to see him put the lives of his innocent people at risk.

Propaganda News

You can see how American media made it look like it was a minister in Kremlin Russia that made the statement.

Putin is wise, he made the right decision to invade Ukraine and end NATO encroachment into Russian mainland.

A lot of NIGERIANs are not educated about the Ukraine-Russia conflict hence their support for the United States.

The case of Ukraine is a SOUND warning to all Democratic states, Ukraine voted in a Comedian to run their country and I hope they are all laughing now.

Ukraine saw too Giants fighting and decided to join the fight instead of choosing neutrality or playing them against each other.

Long live NIGERIA, long live RUSSIA
Are you answering them? People that talk from morals and sentiments and would rather apply sentiments than logic on a matter of national security. They are the reason why we are stuck with buhari as a president.

don't run from the topic. Russian tank deliberately ran over a Ukrainean civilian car with intent to kill the civilian and u are here telling me about Russia minimising civilian deaths. Is it not cowards Nigeria that kill civilians in a war and count the scores as war game? Which other country does that?
The Russians that Ukraine army is killing are they not Russian army? Are they Russian civilianshuh
That report is not correct. I watched the video and it looked more like an accident. Both were coming from opposing directions.

Not so. Just that those ones are actually wicked set of fighters and would likely do what the Russian soldiers won't do. Understand that even at war, most of these soldiers still see Russia and Ukraine as brothers. But these Chechnya fighters done share such sentiments.

This war is going to knock the entire world upside down. Russia is threatening to seize all foreign companies in Russia in retaliation for its citizens assets being confiscated by European countries. Some of the companies with factories in Russia include Mercedes Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, etc. Austria has over 100 banks in Russia. German energy companies have facilities and businesses in Russia... Italian and French companies have luxury shops in Russia. At the end of the day, it's just going to be one catastrophic mess for the world altogether.

Are you aware they are fighting over 250,000 Ukrainian soldiers excluding civilians that have been armed? In Kiev alone, they are facing over 18000 armed civilians apart from soldiers. The 60k Russian soldiers are spread round the whole of Ukraine. Ukraine has a vast land mass. It's the second largest country in Europe after Russia.

still Putin is a scam. See his missiles cannot even sink or totally ground any building that is hit. I remember when Israel had issues with Palestine, a single missile will sink a tour but in Russian case, only a part of the building his is affected. Russia has inferior weapons. Even her troops are not good enough, within 3days, over 2746 Russian soldiers have been killed. Can u imagine
Russia have been bombing basically military installation and command center. Their soldiers have been told to minimize civilian casualties as much as possible. That's the reason you are seeing very few civilian deaths and we need to applaud them for that. I have watched videos of the soldiers interacting freely with civilians. They have been very professional unlike Israel that does not mind blowing up women and children in Palestinian territories.

Not correct. There are just about 30% of the 200000 troops assembled on the border, in Ukraine. That's roughly about 60000 Russian troops holding different parts of Ukraine currently.

Foreign Affairs › Re: BREAKING: Russia To Open Talks With Ukraine by chronique(m): 4:15pm On Feb 25, 2022
ExAngel007:
The Cable News Network reported that Russia was ready to send representatives to the Belarusian capital of Minsk to talk with Ukraine.

This was according to a readout from Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, in response to the request of the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Following Zelensky’s proposal to discuss the neutral status of Ukraine, Putin can send representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign Ministry and his administration to
negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation,” the readout said.

The readout added that Minsk was chosen as the venue for the proposed talk.

In the meantime, CNN reported that Ukraine was under significant pressure, as Russian forces appeared to be closing in on Kyiv.

The report indicated that the Russian forces have entered the Obolon district in the north of the city, just a few miles from its centre.

Also, the Ukrainian forces have reportedly pushed the Russian forces back, having blown up the city bridge to stop their advancement.
