LiteratureShe! by Chuks84(op): 12:02pm On Sep 17, 2010
Her heart is pure.
Her heart is mine.
For every ache, she is my cure.
For her, all day i pine.
She completes me.
She is that missing piece.
Anything she wants I'll be.
Anything for her peace.
I confess, I'm smitten.
I confess, I'm in love.
All my defenses, she has beaten.
All I need, I've found in her cove.
My queen, my life, she's my everything.
My drug, my salve, she's my saviour.
Alas! Safe in her bosom, I want for nothing.
Alas! She doesn't exist, she's just a dream, all I long for.

Please I'd like to hear your thoughts on this piece.

Empty days, lonely nights pass me by;
Angry and frustrated, I refuse to cry;
To friends and family, I say I'm well, I lie;
My confidence, my pride, a well gone dry;
My aspirations, My hopes, a mountain too high;
Two decades of learning, no evidence, is this how dreams die?

@Chuks84,

Log on to YOUTUBE and search for Nneka Egbuna's 'Vagabonds In Power'. It is an interview she had with a Media Company in Europe.  Nneka lives in Nigeria, in Warri, Delta State.  She only travels out for concerts and shows. She returned from Germany about 4 years ago to live permanently in Nigeria. To say Nneka is exploiting the injustice in Nigeria to advance her career is like rubbishing the efforts of people like Ken Saro Wiwa, Asa, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie et al. Can you be more specific about what you are doing to make Nigeria Better? Let us have the details, mate.

www.vibes-extra..com
Point of correction, Nneka lived in Nigeria, She left for the University in Germany, and kick started her career from, there, she's half Nigerian, half German, and don't put words in my mouth, I never actually accused her of exploiting the injustice in Nigeria to advance her career, it was a question. and whats your obsession with what i'm doing to make Nigeria better.

@Chuks84,

Don't attempt to speak for Nigerians concerning Nneka Egbuna. I'm not her agent and I've not even met her personally. You are just generalizing without doing your research properly. So because the average Nigerian will not appreciate Nneka's music, we should keep promoting music that will not help the average Nigerian develop consciously? One thing I've discovered is that the average Nigerian does not take personal development seriously. I've seen so many people living in different states in Nigeria and they have not tried to do something positive for their community. You did not answer my question, mate.

What is Chuks84 doing to make Nigeria better? I am enamoured with Nneka Egbuna not because I'm her agent or she pays me money, but because she is proving to be a strong role model for many Nigerian youths. She and another half Nigerian-half German lady, Ayo Ogunmakin , are flying Nigeria's flag high on the international scene. Nneka Egbuna and Ayo Ogunmakin are beautiful ladies who are keeping their womanhood and dignity intact in a increasingly morally bankrupt world.  You need to re-examine yourself properly, mate. Cheers.

www.vibes-extra..com
I am authorized to speak for most Nigerians because I'm entrenched in the system, I interact with the average Nigerian on a daily basis. I have told you before that i have nothing against Nneka. She is doing her thing, good for her, is it out of a passion for her beloved country? or she's just exploiting a subject matter which most people symphatize with to advance her career? I don't know? Personally, I don't see how singing about the injustices of our leaders to a couple of white folks will help fly the nation's flag high. In my opinion it will only enforce the notion of corruption which most foreigners have of Nigerians! For once let's be realistic! I've seen a lot of people shouting ignorance just because contrary views of Nneka were expressed. What am i doing to better Nigeria? I am in the country working my ass off, I involve my self in several activities to better my home and environment. I don't run off to some foreign country and start speaking out against the nation. I don't wash our dirty linen in public! I stay home and try to do what i can do in my own little way.

@Chuks84,

I hope you're not high on something lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed? Nneka is well known by a good number of Nigerians. I'm really surprised with your ignorance. If you don't like her music, just say so. It does not augur well for you to come on Nairaland and make ugly comments about a lady that has decided to use her natural gifts for a good cause. You that you are talking, what are you doing to make Nigeria better? Do you know how many Nigerians listen to Nneka's music while they are at work? Do you know how many bank executives have her music on their I-pods? Nneka is a star in Warri and I make bold to say she lives in Warri and has never been harassed by the militants there. The rebels in the Niger Delta respect her because they know what she stands for. Man, I'm really disappointed in you. Do something useful with your life and stop pulling others down. Shiorr!!!

www.vibes-extra..com
I aint high on anything, but it's obvious you are high on Nneka, I read one of the previous comments where someone asked if you are an agent for Nneka. I am beginning to suspect that might be d case. I have no agenda against Nneka, and the fact that you like her music doesn't mean that most people will, I've listened to her songs and have seen why some people might like it, but if you read my post well you will understand the argument i was trying to make; would the average Nigerian like Nneka's music? NO!

Who wouldn't love this lady. . .

A lady who collaborated with hip hops greatest.
A lady who did a soundtrack for EA sport's Fifa 10
A lady who performed live at the Dave Letterman show.

I love Nneka.
Her music can only be appreciated by the mature.
Mature? I laugh! her music can only be appreciated by the upper class. The average Nigerian can't afford an Xbox or PS3 in order to play FIFA 2010, an average Nigerian wont be able to afford cable TV in order to watch the Dave Letterman Show! The funny thing is that most Nigerians do not even know who Nneka is, her songs appeal to foreigners, people who can only imagine what she sings about, people who have never experienced the suffering she whines about. She should go to the Niger Delta and sing na, dem go use pure water chase am comot for stage.
PoliticsRe: CNN: Singer Nneka Tells World Of Love And Injustice In Nigeria by Chuks84(m): 10:21am On Sep 03, 2010
The whole world might be lauding Nneka but the truth is that i don't really care for her kind of music, and I'm sure most Nigerians feel the same way. The fact is that we are tired of hearing people talk, sing and debate on the numerous issues of our country, you can sing from now till eternity about the woes of naija but things will still remain the same. I think that is the reason Nigerians will rather listen to the mumbo jumbo sprouted by the likes of D'banj and Timaya. I would rather dance away my sorrows instead of listening to songs that remind me of the troubles of my nation.

And for all the ladies clamouring for equality in marriage, you better think twice when you start asking your partner for money to do your hair, money to go shopping, and while you're at it, don't bother asking him for the children's school fees, no money food foodstuffs too, after all we're equal huh! Jeez! most ladies just want to eat their cake and have it, You believe your man should be able to take care of you, he should woo you with beautiful gifts, he should be able to provide for you adequately and you come on nairaland mouthing off about equality. Someone said something about african women becoming wiser, i just think they are becoming more devious!
FamilyRe: Is The Fight For Equality Ruining Marriages by Chuks84(m): 8:14pm On Aug 08, 2010
Nayah:
Dear Chucks84, I think you are taking the issue in the wrong way, brother marriage is not about role but complementarity. A family is not like a company as some want to make us believe with chief and so on, your wife is not your subordinate but your partner, and as long as you'll think family like some do, that will create frustration. Your wife is not in tutorial but she's your half and your half is your equal. Equal in this sense means thereis no domination or commanding connotation as you can do with your children, because your children is your creation (biologically of course otherwise is GOD) and they need to be lead to become good citizen. But your women come along in the household with values you share and need to be consulted and your decision need to take your wife's consideration.

In this case this is not feminism but just what is normally has to be in a couple, sharing. African women nowadays, and wherever she is doesn't want to be just the mother of your kids or the good cook, she wants and she HAS to be your half.
My Dear Nayah, I'm not taking the issue the wrong way, you probably misinterpreted what i said about the woman being the helpers. It is my belief that the man is the head of the house, he should be the bread winner (unfortunately its not always the case). The wife should recognize his authority. I am not saying the woman should play a passive role, but like someone said earlier, anything with two heads will eventually become a monster, I will treat my wife as my better half, cherish her, respect her as long as she does the same to me. Its so sad that Africans have chosen to embrace the western culture with no holds barrred, in my opinion feminism only serves to imprint the false notion that the woman is being marginalized which is a blatant lie. look at homes where real love exists between the spouses, no matter how domineering the man is, he listens to his wife first and foremost. How many feminists have fulfilled marriages today? Pleas lets be realistic!

Shocked I swear, I am a Nigerian and Nigerians make me SICK!!!!
This holier than thou attitude we have is just disgusting. Nigerians are so quick to quote the bible when it comes to matters of "submission" yet they refrain from applying the principles of the bible in other areas of life.
Some of you want your wives to submit as the bible commands, yet I'm sure you're not living righteously in your everyday life and probably have "justifications" as to why you are not following most, if not SOME of the bible's tenets.

Just look at the state of the country; it speaks volumes about the fake, pretend "I'm holy" attitude of the nation. A church on every street corner, yet Nigeria remains a breeding ground for corruption, crime and numerous unholy acts. How do we as Nigerians even reconcile that? LMAO its a pure joke!

Nigerians like to behave as if they exude the epitome of morality. Puhlease! Just take a look at our leaders, even pastors sef.

Stop demanding from your wife if YOU can not uphold your end of the bargain. You want your wife to do as the bible commands, well shouldn't you lead by example and do the same?? True masters of deception.
Demented Fowl! I hate it when fools call themselves Nigerians then go ahead and whine about its inadequacies,if you hate Nigerians so much then emigrate to Niger or Togo. Fool. If you have a problem with a particular group of people please refrain from generalizing! Besides nobody is perfect,all this rubbish you just mentioned exists everywhere in the world and not just in Naija, so just shut your trap and contribute constructively if you have anything to say instead of abusing a country and its inhabitants!

@ Chuks84

Why should it be a man's world? If it was meant to be a man's world, women would never have existed in the first place! I wonder what this earth would be like if there only male inhabitants!
It was meant to be a figurative expression,and i'll say it again:It's a man's world. affairs have always been run my men as far as we can remember while the women were relegated to the role of helpers. it has proven to be a good formula until the advent of feminism. another case study is our female celebrities, how many of them have solid marriages?
FamilyRe: Is The Fight For Equality Ruining Marriages by Chuks84(m): 3:45pm On Aug 08, 2010
Very interesting topic. I happen to be one of those who believe that feminism has contributed a lot to the destruction of marriages. the facts speak for themselves. Lets take a look at the U.S, where the fight for equality has gained huge strides. Their divorce rate is astronomical. I can't really blame them, in a place where you have laws that award the wives (well, the spouse who earns less, which in most cases are the wives) 50% of the husband's property, what do you expect to happen? She ends up threatening divorce with every little provocation knowing she'll still be comfortable if they break-up. If spouses were awarded 5% of their partners estate or worth,or alimony payments were eradicated, we would have very few divorcees. Even in my beloved country, naija, take a look at`the females who work in oil companies, or the ones who are high earners, you will discover that a greater percentage of them are divorced or not married. I am not a chauvinist, but lets face the truth, its a man's world and in situations where you have a woman trying to play the role of a man, something will definitely go wrong.
