I think Benue should switch soldiers and police with those in SEastern states. In the north the soldiers and policemen always seem to get "overpowered" by the fulani/hausa but in the east the soldiers and police always seem to know how to be gun-smokers at the slightest provocation. One move or sound and the bullet is let loose. Herdsmen charge at the law enforcement and also burn houses down in the north but i guess the herdsmen's magic charms seem to make the artilary jam, lol. |

dem_people:The article is good. Psychologically it helps break down the whole sense of statesmenship. There is no such thing as state in Igbo land. More of us will feel free to run in each other's states. Even if it already happens, putting it out in the open from Rochas appointments and now by Orji's, it may/will bring more of non-indigenes(Igbos) to participate in each other's state politics. Also take into consideration Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who is from Delta State, is up for Finance Minister under Abia State. The more articles like these are put out there, the better for us. ![]() |

Great news SE. Keep the train moving . Our governors are really making the statement that we are all the same, Igbo bu Igbo. First Gov. Okorocha elects Nwankwo Kanu(abia state) into his cabinet and former IGP Mike Okiro(Rivers State). Now Gov. Orji has elected an Anambra indigene as CJ. ![]() |
Anambra indigene becomes Abia acting CJ Wednesday, 22 June 2011 00:00 From Gordi Udeajah, Umuahia News - National AN indigene of Anambra State, Theresa Uzomaka Uzokwe, has been sworn in as the acting Chief Judge (CJ) of Abia State. Uzokwe is the third person in Abia State to act as the CJ within the past six months. The other two that acted before Uzokwe were Ijeoma Offonry and Nnenna Chioma Oti. While swearing in Uzokwe in the state Executive Council Chambers, the state governor, Theodore Orji, urged all the parties responsible for appointment of a substantive state CJ to expedite action on it. Elated by her appointment, Uzokwe said: “I sincerely had no expectations nor did I consider my humble self, the appropriate person for this office, not from lack of knowledge nor other capacities but from fear of the often-orchestrated slogan ‘she is a stranger’. This today, has proved my worthy governor’s fixed reliability, when he stated in Aba some months ago that no one was a stranger in the state”. According to her, “although I have spent most of my life so far in Abia, had all my children in Abia and worked as state counsel, magistrate and as a High Court judge, all in Abia State, I now feel convinced that the governor has truly made me an Abia woman”. Pledging to discharge the duties of the CJ creditably, she remarked: “I have taken my oath which I see and accept as sacrosanct and a covenant, I shall not let the governor and the people of the state down”. http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52052:anambra-indigene-becomesnabia-acting-cj&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
alj_harem:Never said anything about Anango or nago, neither do i care I i have ewe friends, definitely dont need to lie about that When did this happen "also stop lying about ewe people u meet because thet is how u said about itsekiri , idoma , ika, ikwerri and urhobo before they disgracesd u ;)"? ![]() Dont mention ngwas, especially since you know nothing about them or who is ngwa besides chinenye on here. ![]() |
jason123:To begin things, how did cameroun get into this?Lol Anyway, like i said, the Ewe's were subjugated and ancestral land pretty muched annexed into a "certain group's" so-called 'country. http://www.let.leidenuniv.nl/verba-africana/ewe/c-ewe-in-ghana.htm Here's more on the escape: www.google.com">http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:7X8swcRbxYEJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anlo_Ewe+ewe+migration+from+nigeria&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com More information on the Ewes being forced out cby expansionalists :www.google.com">http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:zW57BvqG1-MJ:blackethics.com/716/the-ewe-people/+ewe+migration+from+nigeria&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com THEY ARE NOT YORUBA AT ALL, SO STOP CLAIMING THEM. I also advise you to speak with a well informed Ewe. |
rolchi:I think you mean it was a tactical move to order the refund. If he annouces free education is now in full effect, those who were not able to afford an education will register for school while those who were fortunate enough to have the money to pay the fee would feel cheated and their parents cause noise. It's only common sense. About telling how he plans to extend free education, if a greater percentage of the buget is going towards education then um. . .yea> Also, security votes is definitely not the only thing he slashed. You should search Okorocha articles in the search bar and see for yourself. About IMSU and its status, money is being squandered by officials, pointblank. Has nothing to do with paying N150,000 or not. The students should not have had to pay that much in the first place since salaries in the state were never increased in the first place. STOP AND THINK. Let the man prove himself. |
Just went through the thread. . .Jason, you said Ewes are yorubas ![]() Lord have mercy on you. That is the dumbest thing i have read all day. . .smh. From oral information i got from Ewe friends and read, ewes migrated from present day nigeria. They were basically chased out by a "certain group's" wickedness and subjugation against them. They have a celebration each year dedicated to that emancipation. There's more to the story and can be better explained. Read up on it or simply ask a well informed Ewe. Dude, stop trying to claim other groups, especially ones that speak totally different languages. ![]() |
Okorocha orders refund of school fees•Assembly backs gov on reforms From FRANCIS AWOWOLE-BROWNE, Abuja Tuesday, June 21, 2011 The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha has directed that his free education programme for primary and secondary schools in the state begins with immediate effect. The governor, who is expected to swear-in the newly appointed commissioners, acting chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers and three others, said those who had paid for the current school year to report to their principals/headmasters for refund of such fees. He also ordered principals, teachers and staff of the state school system to immediately stop collecting fees/levies from students. The governor equally directed that the N150,000 tuition fees paid by students of the state-owned university be reversed to the old fee structure.Giving the directives over the weekend, the governor stated that unlike the former directive, he wanted the free education already declared to commence from the day he was sworn in as the 14th governor of the state. Owelle Okorocha, who made these remarks while receiving some federal legislators at the Government House, Owerri, restated that education was compulsory in the state and that non-compliance would attract punishment for parents and guardians. While congratulating the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha on his emergence, Owelle Okorocha, who insisted that his administration was about the general good of the state and not party affiliations called on all elected public officials to shun party differences and pursue common goals in the state. He revealed that he would convene a forum for both those that won and lost the 2011 elections to seek common front to reduce distractions through unnecessary court cases. The governor reminded the federal legislators of their primary role in addressing certain germane issues of their constituencies including roads construction, erosion menace, second Niger Bridge, among others, expatiating further that their performance and connection with their respective constituencies would ensure their continuity in rendering quality legislative service to the people. Okorocha maintained that the legislators must sustain peace and unity of the Nigerian state through close cooperation irrespective of the geographical divisions of the country, asserting that he was a firm believer in “one Nigeria”. Earlier in a speech, Ihedioha who led the legislators said they were on the courtesy call to extend the goodwill of the House of Representatives to the governor. He agreed that there was need for a positive synergy between the state government and the national house to deliver the much wanted dividends of democracy and pledged to work cordially with the government. In his own contribution, Senator Osita Izunaso expressed the belief that the vexed issues of dichotomy between the Abuja and state politicians were over, pointing out that with the Okorocha administration, there would be beneficial cooperation between the groups. In a vote of thanks by Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi, he stressed the importance of active synergy between the arms of government for the benefit of the people. In the team were legislators from Enugu, Anambra, Ebony, Imo and Benue states. Meanwhile, the state House of Assembly has commended the governor for being in tune with the hopes and aspirations of Imo civil servants as typified in the prompt response to the payment of salary arrears owed by the past administration. A resolution dated June 15, signed by the Clerk of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr. Chris Duru, stated that Resolution 351 was passed by the House during its sitting on Tuesday, June 14. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/june/21/national-21-06-2011-004.html |

~Bluetooth:Listen to yourself. You really have an elementary way of argument. I would get serious with you and others but dont see the point of that most of the time. Anyways, about your abiola/lagos example, the hausa/fulani can liken that to what they've done to your people in jos repeatedly. You example holds no water. They've fought you hand to hand in your own land, you all are yet to do the same in their land, I wonder why? ![]() |

How come they always seem to "find" and arrest "them" right after a bombing or mass attack occurs. Sounds like the same balony as usual. They just rounded people up to present as news to the public. |

Very strategic. I always thought that having the whole of SE in the APGA, as far as now is concerned, would not be a good move. APGA on a state level and PDP on a national level is great. Also, 2 or so out of the 5 SE state being PDP is good and strategic as well. It is clear that running for presidency on the platform of PDP for Ndigbo is not possible. The North won't go for it and the SS will stay mute and say nothing as usual, then later on they will either go completely with the north or be split. Anyway, very strategic but i dont agree with them putting their business or plans out in the open like that. Apart from that, I still think they should have had a mass exodus for GJ dissing them with denying them Speakership and trying to checkmate them by immediately appointing Anyim as SGF. A mass defection on the state level(non-governors) would have been great. Also, after getting the deputy positions and SGF and later after getting ministrial appointments, they should dump PDP.(Just pushing it a little) ![]() |
APGA plots PDP’s fall in S-East On June 20, 2011 · In News By Tony Edike ENUGU-The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, is striving hard to wrestle the South-East geo-political zone from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. APGA’s game plan, anchored on alleged inadequate representation of the zone in PDP as well as in federal appointments so far made by the Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency, is likely to lead to a mass defection of PDP members to APGA soon, particularly in Anambra and Imo states. Vanguard learnt that the move, strongly backed by the two APGA governors, Peter Obi and Rochas Okorocha of Anambra and Imo states, respectively, is aimed at swaying the support of Ndigbo for APGA, in view of their perceived marginalisation in political appointments and provision of amenities by the Federal Government. Disturbed by PDP’s refusal to retain the position of its National Chairman in the South-East as well as the denial of the zone the opportunity to produce the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Igbo in PDP believe that their massive support for the party in the last general elections was not acknowledged by the President and PDP leadership. Some leaders of APGA were said to have initiated talks with some chieftains of PDP in the zone on the need to form a strong alliance that would give Ndigbo a bargaining power and reposition the zone for political patronage before the 2015 elections. APGA is for Ndigbo – Chairman Enugu State Chairman of APGA, Mr. Okechukwu Nkoloagu, who spoke on the development weekend, said APGA had remained the party for all Igbos, despite the fact that some states in the South-East were being governed by PDP. He confirmed that there was a strong move to reposition the party ahead of 2015, to ensure that the feat achieved by Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the South-West in the 2011 election was re-enacted in the South-East in 2015. As with ACN in S-West… He said: “The issue is that we (APGA) are not wooing PDP because it is a well known fact that majority of PDP members in the South-East are members of APGA and everybody is aware of this. PDP has no genuine membership in Igboland. “By 2015, what happened in the South-West will happen in the South-East. That is, APGA will take over the entire East like the ACN took over the entire West in this year’s elections. “It is established that an Igboman can only have his say at the centre through APGA because past and present events in the country have shown that Ndigbo have no place in PDP.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/apga-plots-pdps-fall-in-s-east/ |
