Let me see those SW rascals talk the 'Wazovare' nonsense again. ![]() |
lagcity:At this point, he has no choice. That mistake of trying to help OBJ impose his Speaker really threw his game off track. |
lagcity:The yorubas. Yorubas make it so easy for some to pity. ![]() |
EzeUche!:We are good. GJ with provide the equilibrium with the ministerial appointment. He will definitely not leave the northern dominance unchecked. Also get ready to see a lot more SS(Ijaws really) people as ministers because notice how the SS does not hold any of those top positions. I'm not sure which region has chief whip and dep though. |
lagcity:Sometimes i dont get our brothers. |
EzeUche!:My thing is, brother, this is politics, screw which ever region that does not favor yours. If they are flushed out of the N'assembly, that is their own business.Focus on your own. Treat as you are treated. You dont have to have a big heart every got-damn time. |
EzeUche!:@bolded. . .Stop thinking like your SE politicians/leaders. This is politics. If there is no fairness for them is it your business to care? Let them deal with it enym. ![]() |
lagcity:Is this a yoruba proverb? Lol, |
alj_harem:Sorry boy-boy. I know it hurts, but obviously they did make it clear they wanted it until the SE pitched camp with the north, lol. ![]() |
Ileke-IdI:Obviously nothing.That's why y'all aint got the position. [flash=200,200]http://www.petdogblog.com/images/laughing-dog.jpg[/flash] |
^^^This is exactly what the SW is doing now, crying. Why, because they refused to have honor. |
OAM4J:Exactly. It's funny that he rushed to do this before he meets Obama wednesday. The US was applying pressure on him to do so. What a slave. I guess obama's his boss. |
jason123:Long story short, the SW lacked honor and GJ felled as a leader to promote fairness, which would have made his playing ground safe. The SW should have been selfless and allowed the SE take up the position of Speaker, not only because of their poor performance in the election, but also because with the emergence of a SS president, the position of Speakership was zone out of the SW. Instead, the SW tried to have their cake and eat it but this time it didn't work out for them. The used all types of blub against the Igbos such as: religion and regionalism. You speak of merit but merit would have been practiced if the SW had gave way to those who performed well. The Sen Pres would have been- NC(a balance region), Speakership- SE( a democratic region), and SGF( a grey region). This would have made this solid and workable for all regions and people. Goodluck Jonathan instead of going with the folly of discrimination of the Igbos should have wielded his power in the direction of fairness, but, he didn't do that. Instead, he showed ungratefulness and tried to install Anyim as SGF quickly in order to kill the Igbos chances and validity of clamoring for the Speakership position. Stupidly the SE fell for it,but it is expected. GJ went through all of the trouble of trying to please OBJ, even after OBJ's people rejected him more than a couple times this year and did not want him. GJ insisted on helping OBJ install his man for Speakership. He should never mix friendship with politics which effects a whole country. This is what he failed to realize and he shot himself in the foot. One this is clear that no zoning formula was kept but Igbos were prevented from getting Speakership in the guise of keeping to the "currrent formula". They were simply rejected. If they were keeping to the old formula, which by the way expired due to the emergence of a SS president, then Ndigbo would not even be SGF because it was zoned to the NE. Why was this position given to Ndigbo if the zoning arrangement was not changed? Obviously positions were put in security and in favor of particular regions and the game of pacification was to played out. |
Okorocha sacks LG chairmen, dissolves traditional rulers’ council …Says Imo owes N100bn From VAL OKARA Owerri Tuesday, June 07, 2011 Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha yesterday sacked all the 27 local government chairmen in the state saying the system is characterised with corruption and indiscipline. Also dissolved are all local government development centers in the state. Okorocha, who made the declaration in his maiden broadcast to the people of the state said an audit committee would be constituted to review the activities all the local governments. The state governor stated that traditional rulers had left their stool to play politics, a situation that would not be tolerated by the state government. According to him, the state government would review the staff of office issued recently to the newly created autonomous communities by the immediate past governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim. He, therefore, dissolved the state Council of Traditional Rulers headed by Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, saying the leadership no longer enjoyed the confidence of its members. “It is sad to note that some of our traditional rulers have left their stool to play politics. This will no longer be tolerated. We shall also review the staff of office issued to the recently created autonomous communities in the state during political campaigns for the purpose of politics and political gains. A committee is already being constituted for this purpose.” Governor Okorocha also announced the suspension of the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, Prof. Osy Nwebo, pointing out that his appointment had affected the smooth running of the institution coupled with his unethetical behaviour. He said the university still remained the pride of the state regretting that the institution had been over politicised with appointments and court cases. He stated that his administration considered the increase in school fees in the Imo State University to about N150,000 as unjustifiable. Okorocha in the broadcast disclosed that the debt profile of the state stood at N100 billion including internal and external debts as well as outstanding contract bills. He said the state remained one of low-income states with about N2.2 billion monthly subvention and about N1.9 billion monthly wage bill. Okorocha, however, directed the suspension of 10,000 jobs, saying that government would in line with its commitment to job creations review the situation. Reacting, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Imo State chapter, described the dissolution of local government councils as illegal. The PDP state legal adviser, Chief C.O.C Akolisa said the state would be witnessing a regime of illegality founded on euphoria of mass support. He said he was yet to find any legal foundation of an elected governor to dissolve a properly constituted and elected third tier of government. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/june/07/national-07-06-2011-009.html |
isquar3d3:Well The Igbos have the House of Reps Leadership as well, but he is from SS. I believe it is Tony Elumelu. That counts as a SS slot, i guess. Not that its that important anyways. |
isquar3d3:Since when did second fiddle become 3 top positions? Can't you see? Because of the discrimination against Igbos, now we southerners will feel it. Nothing of high value/favoring the south over the north will be signed on our behalf. |

PDP should return chairmanship slot to Southeast, says Ngige By Jide Babalola THE Action Congress Party of Nigeria (ACN) Senator-elect for Anambra Central, Chris Ngige, has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to allow the Southeast present its next national chairman. Ngige spoke in Abuja yesterday. The ACN chieftain hailed the appointment of Senator Pius Anyim as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), PDP should demonstrate its belief in justice by allowing the Southeast to retain its national chairmanship position. He described the zoning of the slot to the Northeast before the expiration of the tenure of the current National Executive Council (NEC) as robbing Peter to pay Paul. Ngige urged President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that the chairmanship slot remains in the Southeast where it was zoned till 2012. The Senator-elect dismissed suggestions that the issue is solely a PDP affair. “It has to do with the Southeast, not just the PDP,’’ he said. Describing Anyim’s appointment as a case of putting a round peg in a round hole, he said the former Senate President ‘’is politically taller than others speculated to have been shortlisted for the position.” He said: ‘’Anyim is younger, energetic, intelligent and above all politically suave. “With this appointment, we still expect Jonathan to ask his party men to return the ‘stolen’ position of National Chairman to the rightful owner (the Southeast) till March 2012. You cannot rob Peter to pay Paul.” Ngige was a founding member of the PDP. He defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2003. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/8230-pdp-should-return-chairmanship-slot-to-southeast-says-ngige.html |
Okorocha orders immediate payment of salary arrears On June 3, 2011 · In News By Chidi Nkwopara OWERRI-Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has ordered immediate payment of arrears of salaries currently owed civil servants in the state. This came on a day the state’s Accountant-General, Mr. Pauly Ajoko, and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Sir George Eche, at the House of Assembly, linked non-payment of salaries to civil servants in the state to alleged insolvency of the government. Chief Okorocha, who gave the order yesterday when he paid an unscheduled visit to the State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, also condemned lateness to work by some staff at the secretariat. “My administration will not condone lateness to work and laziness. Flimsy excuses like traffic congestion would no longer be tolerated,” Okorocha said. Urging civil servants to sit up in the spirit of the rescue mission, Okorocha also ordered the Head of Service, Mr. Evans Uzokwe, to lock up the gate against late comers by 7.45am daily http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/okorocha-orders-immediate-payment-of-salary-arrears/ |

North regroups to checkmate Jonathan On June 2, 2011 · In Headlines By Jide Ajani ABUJA — BARELY48hours after inauguration, fresh facts emerged, yesterday, that some politicians of Northern extraction were out to checkmate President Goodluck Jonathan as he begins his four-year tenure of office. The politicians were also learnt to have vowed to ensure that they kept a constant tab on activities of Mr. President, especially on his utterances, with a view to using same against him in future. Vanguard gathered that the politicians represented diverse northern political groups such as Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF; Unity Forum, UF; and General Muhammadu Buhari’s political party, the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC. Other interests allegedly represented at the meeting of the group which held on Friday, May 20, 2011, were the representative of a former Vice President; representative of a former Inspector General of Police; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF; two former ministers and a former state governor who dumped the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but who have now ended up in the CPC and played a prominent role in the Yar’Adua administration. Question of leadership Vanguard learnt that the meeting which was held in the Maitama district of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, was convened with a view to intimating “participants of the need for them to further earlier discussions towards the realisation of the Northern Presidency project in 2015, as well as the question of leadership in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.” A competent source close to the meeting said it was argued that the success of Northern desires in 2015 would largely depend eventually on who secured the PDP leadership now. He said: “One of the participants described as unfortunate the present crop of Northerners in the PDP, who he saw as only being used against the interests of the North.” The source who said that participants were charged not to see the present situation of the North as a light matter, added that one of the leaders in attendance said: “It is a very serious one,” adding: “They read the comment of Senator Joseph Waku in one national newspaper, where Waku allegedly revealed that Mr. President, the current Chief Justice of Nigeria, the National Security Adviser, NSA; Directors-General of the State Security Service, SSS; and the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, NIA; are all Christians. Mark’s aspiration “They noted that Waku had also wondered in the said publication that Senator David Mark who is also a Christian, should not similarly be aspiring to return to the position of president of the Senate, and that even among the present Service Chiefs in the Country, it is only one of them that is a Muslim.” But the meeting was not all about lamentation as a bit of introspection was introduced as one of the participants admitted that “their respective attitude as Northerners is creating the prevailing situation for the North,” adding that they, however, did not know the level of havoc they had done and were still doing until the North will be out of political power completely.” Another participant at the meeting, who had worked in Aso Rock Presidential Villa, gave a breakdown of the security configuration in the seat of power. He said: “During (our) period in office at the Presidential Villa, there were about 1,500 personnel of the SSS, out of which almost 1000 were of Northern extraction. During the administration of late President Yar’Adua, out of the over one thousand SSS personnel at the Presidential Villa then, most of them were Northerners. “There are about seven hundred SSS personnel presently deployed in the Villa, with only few Northerners among them, including one (names with held) a namesake of his, who he revealed, presently worked with Mr. President.” He added that a similar situation obtained with the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, NIA.” Vanguard learnt that one of those in attendance at the meeting categorically stated that the “President should be put under check,” and that “this position was generally accepted to the participants”. Consequent on an earlier point raised during the meeting, the participants were said to have enthused that some of the pieces of information gathered during their discussion would “make progress.” A speaker at the meeting remarked that this reminded him of the on-going debate on the issue of leadership in both Chambers of the National Assembly, particularly that of the Senate President and Speaker, House of Representatives. He recalled that a fortnight ago, it was stated that there was no zoning, but that a week later; the same people maintained that there was zoning, adding that by the time media professionals began to blame the Presidency and the leadership of the PDP for double speaking on the issue, the Presidency and the PDP leadership could not defend it. The source added: “The participants were thereafter admonished to document all comments made by Mr. President for the sake of posterity, so as to use same against him (Mr. President) later in order to also confront him that this and this, are what he (Mr. President) had stated at one point in time or the other” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/north-regroups-to-checkmate-jonathan/ |

Imo Speaker impeached, nine others suspended By Uche Nwosu,Correspondent, Owerri Imo State lawmakers have impeached Speaker Goodluck Opiah and suspended nine other colleagues, in what seems the beginning of the clearing out of the loyalists of Ikedi Ohakim, who on April 26 lost the Governorship ballot to Rochas Okorocha, who was sworn in on Sunday. Amaechi Nwoha was on Tuesday elected to replace Opiah, and Ifeanyi Agwu was directed to oversee the office of Deputy Speaker, which was occupied by Jonas Okeke, one of those suspended. Before the commencement of legislative business, 14 of the 27 members of the Assembly had held an executive session where they resolved to remove Opiah and suspend the nine others. It happened 48 hours after the swearing in Okorocha and 48 hours before the end of the current Assembly. The Assembly officially winds up on Thursday and a new one is expected to be inaugurated on June 6. Those suspended are Okeke, Majority Leader Chukwuemeka Egbuchulam, Stan Dara, Oyibo Nwaneri, Declan Emelumba, Bede Eke, Josephat Emenaha, Ray Emana, and Louise Chukwu. After his swearing in, Nwoha directed the suspended lawmakers to hand over all the property of the Assembly in their possession to the Clerk. He also asked the Director of Accounts to stop financial transactions with them, and to forward the statement of account of the Assembly to the new leadership. An Assembly member, Ikenna Emeh, expressed sadness over the non payment of civil servants by Ohakim and appealed to Okorocha to remedy the situation. Nwoha told journalists after plenary that Opiah was impeached because he ran the Assembly like a personal estate for four years. He accused Opiah of diverting public funds into his private accounts. Nwoha pledged to support Okorocha by abrogating “some of the obnoxious laws” enacted against the people. He said the Assembly will pass a motion urging Okorocha to probe Ohakim, and that lawmakers themselves will investigate Opiah and his leadership. http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=34774 |
