Family / Re: Can You Suck Mucus Out your Childs Nose With Your Mouth? by cibilola(f): 4:43pm On Mar 11, 2010
i did something similar for my youngest step-brother when my mum had to go into the hospital for an operation and he was only 8 months. I blew air in one nostril and the mucus came out of the other, then he was able to sleep. . My step-dad refused to i do it. I was just 14 years then and was totally fine with it. . . undecided

kattrina:

@Poster, sorry I think I did not fully answer your question.

God set up a method of headship if you will. For instance the head of every woman is a man and the head of man is Jesus, who is also the head of the congregation, and Jesus' head is God. Since sin entered into all of man through Adam and Eve the life God had planned for mankind was ruined to a point. Jehovah God intended for man to live forever in paradise like conditions, but this was lost to us because of sin. Because of His love and perfect justice Jehovah all the debt of a perfect human life to be paid. His own son Jesus Christ is the one who paid the debt. Since it is through Jesus that our debt was paid and we are able to regain everlasting life (when Jehovah and Jesus destroy this wicked system we live in now) it is also through Jesus that we need to go to approach Jehovah. So anyone who died before Jesus will not go to Heaven. Even John the Baptiser who is referred to in Matthew 11:11 as having no on raised up greater than him did not go to Heaven because he died before Jesus.

Anyone who passed away before Jesus will not go to Heaven but will be resurrected to earth when it is restored to its orginal condition. John 5: 28,29 Revelation 21:4
Kattrina, your comments are very interesting. If you don't mind me asking, where do you worship? So from what you are also saying, Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Elijah etc etc will not go to heaven? and this is because they died before Jesus came to the world? oh dear! I thought they are meant to sit closer to the throne of God. . .

Omotara Fiyinfoluwa ,Kofoworola - 2nd
Ayomide Oluwatoke Aderinsola- 3rd

No English names for me abeg, as long as the English are not naming there kids Nigerian names, why should I? lipsrsealed undecided

I totally agree with the bolded part. The English ppl are yet to adopt any of our names! Even if you have a child with an English person, they still wouldn't want to give the child a Nigerian name.

thank you ohh @ Fhemmmy

@ otilowaju, na true talk, naija pikin dey suffer, right from birth

jumie:

@ Poster,

I don't think there is any big deal in bathing your baby. The goal is to have a clean and fresh looking baby. Just place the baby on your thighs and wash with soap and warm water (you may use a sponge if need be) However, let it be a very soft sponge and not the local hard ones we have in Nigeria.

As for subjecting the new born to those "rigorous physical fitness" exercises, I don't know as I am yet to confirm if for example there is any benefit after the child is thrown up in the air or suspended up-side down.

You can also massage the baby's body with a warm towel. However, I know that using 'Adin-agbon' to rub your baby's skin is effective in warding-off all those skin rashes that come out shortly after birth.

what is adin agbon?
Family / Re: Is It Okay For A Woman To Call Her Husband By Name? by cibilola(f): 12:08pm On Feb 15, 2010
i personally don't call my husband by name and him, likewise. pet names will do and respectfully too! wink.

To go as far as calling someone (anyone apart from my God) Lord, that is too much. So Woye, I don't know where you will get a lady that worships you! Infact, i hope you don't get such a lady. You sound like one of those men that does not deserve a respectful lady and too big for your own shoes sad angry

Outstrip:

I actually saw my friend go through this whole ritual of bathing her baby "the nigerian way". I did not want to shout that that was silly but when it got to the point that she would leave the baby exposed for almost 30 minutes at a time pressing him here and there, poking in his ears, molding his head and facial features and the baby eventually started breathing funny from exposure I was convinced that she was mentally unstable. LOL. In all seriousness there is absolutely no medical benefit to using baby oil or any kind of oil versus good ol soap and water. The baby does not develop and odor or all the other stories that have been passed down.

Your post made me laugh!! cheesy grin You are very funny. My grandma did the same for my little niece, moulding all the joints, creating dimples on the top of the baby's bottom. She even forced my aunty to sit on a potty of hot water and "rubb" after the birth. Now she wishes she was as young as before so that she could come over here to do the same with me.

Personally, i am not going to throw my baby up in the air oo! lol!
Family / Bathing A New Born Baby. . . by cibilola(f): 2:19pm On Feb 14, 2010
Please advice on how to give a new born baby a bath. I mean the Nigerian way oooh., not the weird instructions given by midwives here. My grandma once mentioned palm oil and molding the baby's body, does anyone have experience on this too? thank you in advance!
Food / Re: Which Other Food Can I Introduce To My Baby Of 10 Mths Apart From Indomie? by cibilola(f): 11:20am On Feb 12, 2010
your baby goes to school at the age of 10 months shocked shocked shocked or do you mean daycare?

at this rate. We will have people graduating from uni at the age of 13! grin grin shocked

anyway, you can try yams, or potatoes with eggs. Try to mash the potato a little bit. I personally think the baby should still be having milk and only having little taste of proper food during family meal times.

~I usually say one's only limited by one's imagination & taste buds.

~I noticed most of the suggestion given are for pancakes eaten for brekkie or dessert. . .I was half expecting to read some unusual combo's! I like mine as an appetizer/a side dish/dessert or a meal on its own, mostly wrapped taco style with some Savoury filling which is why i perfer buying sweet/savory versions of the thin-like French crêpes batter pancakes or French crêpes rather than the stuffy pancakes.

~Some fillings i've used & Loved

• Sliced ham
• Green, leafy salad with mayo/strips of chicken
• Sliced Tomato, chicken stripes of chicken
• Cubed beef/chicken gravy/stew
• Chicken in cream sauce
• Left over mince beef pasta sauce

so, you mean to tell me that the interruption of electric and water supply is now regarded as a threat to Goodluck's life. Guys sapre us the cr*p. This is the same rubbish an average Nigerian has to put up with every single day for 365 days a year. Most of them survive it. Well Jonathan, i have one thing to tell you. . . "Welcome to the real world, it's tough but you should be able to cope" undecided

Now i await the rest of you that would now want to descend on me with vengance, take a deep breath, i don't hate the guy. I think he should even be acting president now. But this news story is exaggerated and the truth needs telling!! kiss kiss kiss

Yar'Adua and his allies are pure liars! angry Why grant an interview with the BBC.

Guys they granted an interview with the BBC Hausa service where the President spoke for 3 mins and believe it or not, out of those 3 mins, he only spoke English (the official language of the country) for 1min 11sec. What was the piece of trash thinking? Does he think the Northerners are the only Nigerians. We are just been taken for a ride here guys!! The president have no regard for us whatsoever.

Imagine being declared missing in your country for 50 days and then giving a two minute hausa interview and 1 minute english interview. May he rot in hell!! Pure colo-mentality as well! No regard for his country at all. He should be removed eternally! angry angry
