Fashion / Re: Ladies Eyebrows - Threading, Waxing, Tweezing Or Shaving? by cibilola(f): 8:07pm On Apr 01, 2013
Waxing for me. Though it hurts, I feel the pain is much less compared to threading. The last time I threaded my eyebrow, I couldn't control the tears that came out of my eyes continuously. Waxing is done in a couple of minutes too. I tweeze my brows myself in between waxing (ie before going for my next waxing appt)

Family / Re: The Wickedness Of Some Naija Women In London by cibilola(f): 1:06am On Feb 18, 2013
@ sensual man, I hope it's not a Nigerian woman that gave birth to you. With a behaviour like yours she is probably cursing the day you were born. You are a disgrace to Nigerians. Hurry along to your gf, hopefully she will be able to tolerate your rubbish. Poor girl blinded by lust. . .

@poster, I can only say you should go slow on the generalising and quit taking panadol for another person's headache. And you digging around people's old post, what's the deal with that? Invest your time wisely.

Family / Re: Bathing A New Born Baby. . . by cibilola(f): 8:33am On Jan 25, 2013
Nice to re-visit this thread!

Since making this thread, I have had two little ones. The first one is 2 years and 5months and the second is 6 months. Both were subjected to most part of the Nigerian way of bathing newborns. The second one only endured a few days of this treatment when I told my mom I will take it from there... lol. I used olive oil and Shea butter to bath and massage baby and baby's skin looks beautiful (even if I do so say so myself grin)

My verdict, I don't think it's necessary.

PS: I refused to sit on a hot water potty. I gave my bottom and lady-bits the royal treatment it deserved by having a sitz bath twice daily. kiss

@legalwealth, thanks for your reply. We thought about western union, RIA etc but that means the person collecting will have to handle a lot of cash (a few millions??) before transferring into their account (I hope I'm making sense). Don't think its particularly safe. He doesn't have a domiciliary account either.
Business / Best Way To Send Money Home From UK? by cibilola(f): 6:50pm On Jul 06, 2012
Hi guys,

Just a quick question. My uncle wants to send some money from UK to a Naija bank account (UBA, I was told). Please do you know the best way to get this done because the amount he wants to send is a bit much. your advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

My prayer is that none of my kids will meet or get married to poster's kids (male or female). I am no feminist and I also firmly believe that my husband is the head of our home. I will bring up my kids to value and respect others and there shall be no favouritism whatsoever because one happens to be a girl and the other, a boy.

Family / Re: Bathing A New Born Baby. . . by cibilola(f): 7:42pm On Mar 28, 2012
Wow! Really surprised that this post resurrected after 2 years. Well, it wasnt my grandma that did all the massaging for the baby, it was my mum as 'ultra-modern' as she is. Very scary but the little boy I'd now a healthy 19month old running riots in the house and awaiting his younger one in a few months who will undoubtedly receive the same bathing experience. Lol!

Travel / Re: When Did Peckham (In London) Get Annexed By Nigeria? by cibilola(f): 5:13pm On Sep 13, 2010
Roforofo:

Peckham is a dump. Most Naijas and other immigrants who live there have no choice. It is one of the cheapest parts of London to live in for those who are low paid and need to commute to work. Like most ghettos in the world once you make enough money to get the hell out, you leave. There is squalor there because the people are poor. Poor people wether white or black generally live in dirtier conditions than the rich or middle class, same as comparing Ikoyi, Opebi, GRA to Ajegunle, Shangisha or Okokomaiko.

Roforofo, are you new in London? angry As far as I am concerned, it is only the market on Rye Lane that looks dirty. Most parts of Peckham are actually quite expensive and I can assure you that you cannot afford to live in this same Peckham that you have just bad-mouthed, mschewwwww here is an example below,

Romance / Re: My Fiance Says Am Fat. by cibilola(f): 3:30pm On Aug 19, 2010
dear poster,

did you dare to ask this guy of yours what will happen if you don't manage to lose more weight by Nov. this year? Is he planning to call of the wedding?

To be honest, the guy seem to have a problem with your physical appearance and i have even worse news, it won't get better. After marriage and kids, loads of things will happen to your body. You will gain more weight, have stretchmarks everywhere, probably saggy boobies, wrinkles, just to mention a few. What will happen then? think fast and dump him for someone that will appreciate you every morning when you wake up. . .

On a separate note, for health reasons, it is good to mind your weight. A healthy size 12 or 14 is not bad to be honest. Maintain your figure and you will find someone better.

Take care
Family / Re: First Pregnancy. First Labor. First Baby. How Was It? by cibilola(f): 10:09am On Jun 25, 2010
Obatity:

Hello everyone, My first pregnancy was a very "wonderful" experince. For almost half of my pregnancy period, i could not stand any smell but will throw up like no man's business. I never really changed in appearance like having bigger nose, pimples e.tc. On the D day, initally the cramps was mild and still going about my own business but when the contraction got stronger and at its peak i did not know when i removed all my clothes ahh! i tot the world had ended, thank God for my husband who was with me at the labour room encouraging me. I laboured for about 12hrs, the mid-wives asked me if i would rather hold my knee by my self to push or they should tie my legs , i just shouted TIE, TIE ooo Jesuuuu. Finally when i made the last push my lovely daughter came into the world stippling the scale 4.45kg! What a joy that filled my heart and my husband. Immediately all the pains disappeared, i was filled with joy and knowing the joy of a motherhood!

That cracked me up!! grin although i know child-bearing and labour is probably the most painful experience a woman will ever face. I am due in 7 weeks and i just keep on praying to deliver like the Hebrew women did. My mum is still convinced that i will cry sha! embarassed anyway, it is well, i will worry more about it when the time comes and i will definitely come back here to share my 'wonderful' experience wink
Travel / Re: Are Nigerian Hotels And Guest Houses Over-priced? by cibilola(f): 10:02am On Jun 25, 2010
oh yes! they are wayyyyyyyy over-priced! Imagine Eko Le Meridian rooms starting from $275 per night. If you pay that much in London, you are guaranteed the best suite, breakfast included, so much pampering, polite staff, hygenic surroundings etc. But you don't even get half of this when you pay through your nose in a Nigerian hotel.

I stayed at a hotel along Lekki Express way last year and after paying, there was a power-cut. I waited for about 5 mins for the staff to turn on their gen since it does not come on automatically, nothing happened. I decided to call them and ask what's up? that is how i started hearing story about how their gen is having trouble, They latter spoke the truth that they did not switch on the generator becuase there were only 2 or 3 (paying) guests in the hotel that night. So we were left with no power, in the middle of the night, no form of light (re-chargeable lamps etc) plus they were so rude! my God, needless to say, i checked out of there as soon as there was natural light enough to see the staircase and trace my way out of there!

Not only that, their bathroom was filthy, you wait almost an hour for your food and then the staff think they have the right to ask you for tips after such an abysmal service, I am only speaking about my experience from one hotel, i could go on and on, so, to answer the poster's question, yes, they are over-priced and they don't deliver

Religion / Re: RCCG Pastors Have Started Implementing The Dress Code? by cibilola(f): 12:42pm On Jun 02, 2010
Abuzola and Pornodude have certainly derailed this thread! haba, open a new thread for all your comments and criticisms that you have against one another. . .

@ topic, if this news is indeed true, well good for them. I hope 'G.O' can also guarantee heaven for women that do not wear trousers too. . . I think what the new-age churches should do is to preach decency, how to dress that shows off a Godly image. If you wear a trouser and you are thinking "hmmm,  sexyyy!!" you are certainly not portraying God's image. Surely, a man that shows off his underpants is not showing of a Godly image but a wordly image.

In essence, what i am trying to say is that churches should preach moral and decency, but i guess they are scared because too much emphasis on topics like this in church may make people uncomfortable and that may reduce the church's revenue and income!!
