@ drbigdaddyg...

But is he really innocent?? huh... And is his mission just?? huh huh

drbigdaddyg:
Let's be very careful because this might result to another september 11 attack maybe in Aso Rock. Terrorists are not only born in Iraq and Afghanistan nor do they live only in the two countries. Dakubo's case can generate such action.

Let Fed. Govt. release the innocent man on a just mission, otherwise, they should be ready to spend billions of naira to get themselves equiped with misiles to fight terrorism in Nigeria; though I know the poor innocent people will feel the heat.

Be wise lipsrsealed

Salient points bro.. tongue

I won't fight you there....

But like u said, it's an arraignment.... not an actual court trial, so no need for the presentation of facts or hard-evidence (although his utterances would be sufficient enough to prove this case..)

I guess it's a case of "cunning man die, cunning man kill am... " grin

@ missworld and who-am-I..

I was just preparing a reply to clarrify things for u.. [if only you had specified on what exactly you would require clarrification..]

Guess what??

All the stuff I was preparing just dissapeared.. [a typical IE problem..]

I'll try to prepare one for u guys another time.. because I'm really bugged out by this development.. But suffice it to say that someone who's elected to govern the welfare of the people has no business engaging in activities which would bring scandal to his people and his country.. the actions of the individual in question have not been to the benefit of the people of his state.. and I can assure you the cash which was found on his person was not meant for the welfare of the people of his state.. if he has done any wrong, he should be investigated by those who can effectively prove his guilt (or innocence) and let them act accordingly..

ps.. let me know what exactly you'd like for me to clarrify, and I'll do my best to act accordingly..

Nigeria is truly a wonderful place..

It is not enough that a man entrusted with the welfare of his people was caught clearly in contravention of the law.. Now sycophants come out to his defense with all sorts of stories..

That:

1. He is a victim of power-play by the powers that be in Abuja..
2. The money in question is not his, but he was simply in care of the alleged amounts..
3. Why should someone who has "Diplomatic Immunity" be arrested and prosecuted by foreign powers, in flagrant disregard to the sovereignty of the home nation.. (as if Diplomatic Immunity is now a license to abuse power and the trust given to you for the welfare of the governed, and loot at will)..

[Thank God they have now learned from the Dariye precedent that Nigerian Governors are not as honorable as they appear to be.. In that case, the guy fled home, not to return back to the UK, as we can all bear witness to the K-leg that that case developed..]

we congratulate EFCC. Thats the best thing that has happend to 9jia in a while. But lets be able to handle our own shiit yeah
@ Lioness..

HOW?? huh huh

Who is going to bell the cat in this instance...??
Either you do not currently live in Nigeria or possibly live in a part that is far away from the realities of the moment..

Not meaning to be disrespectful here, but some of us can personally attest to incidents where the high and mighty live by one set of rules, and the rest of the populace by another..

You are condeming them for detaining such a personality as a state gov.. What gives him the bloody right to pull the wool over our eyes??.. The funds found on him were far in excess of what any sane human being would be carrying on his/her person in the form of liquid cash.. He was supposedly going overseas for treatment.. was the cash meant for the payment of the hospital billshuh Also, with our state of the art hospital facilities in Abuja, why go overseas in the first instance.. [I thot that was the whole essensce of building the National Hospital, Abuja in the first instance.. ]

Personally, I have had enough of people trying to play the devils' advocate in this matter.. If the powers that be were so concerned about our national image, they'd have tread a very correct line and not engaged in affairs which are detrimental to Nigeria as a whole, and their personage in particular..

To correct an impression here, I can believe in all honesty that the monies which were found in possesion of the bayelsa gov may not have come from drugs [as someone has mentioned above], but has anyone looked in the direction of compelled extortion of oil companies operating in the bayelsa area??.. For those of us conversant with the scene in the niger delta region, these practices have been going on for a while.. with full knowledge of the powers that be.. a couple of years ago, it was so rampant in warri that it compelled a lot of good businesses to avoid the area.. [this I believe was one of the issues which weighed in various company relocations from warri to phc..]

To end this with a very popular expression in Naija...

You know what..

You're most definitely right...

But talking to the other party about it won't make things better between us.. Better I go into a new relationship and deal with the issues there.. at least we'll both be starting on a clean slate, and who's to say that whatever issues in the former relationsip would be carried over to the new one..

New relationships bring their own complexities.. No need to go around carrying old baggage..

vexxy:
I think that calling off the wedding is fine but I also think that it would be an act that deserves attention. It should be talked about. Don't just call off the wedding and walk away.
What would there be to talk about?..

-Why she had a relationship with the person in question that was so deep and intimate that they had sex??
- Why she even went as far as having sex in the first place?? [As in what her motivations werehuh]
- Whether she felt justified by doing what she didhuh huh

What would there truly be to talk about?? All this talk just prolongs the pain.. the pain of betrayal.. and in the final analysis, it can't bring them back together...

I wonder if the proponents of the "forgive her and move on with your wedding" philosophy truly understand the import of the situation..
Marrige is not an everyday transaction.. it is one which involves a life-time of commitment.. If under such circumstances, one is not ready to commit to a life-time relationship, then one should not go into it.. but going into it implies no secrets should be held form the partner.. whether medical deficiencies or conditions.. past convictions of the law.. children from other relationships.. and most definitely other relationships which were of a sexual nature..

Why build some thing that's supposed to last a life time on a foundation of deceithuh..

Hence my statement earlier that it's better not to even go ahead with the union than trying to look for a cure further down the line.. is it when you now see her laughing flirtaciously with other men [as women are wont to do from time to time..] that it'll enter ur head to wonder if she is still trust worthy?.. [essentially meaning that the trust which u had before is still damaged.. all you are trying to do is to give the benefit of the "doubt" or alternatively, turn a blind eye]

That is tantamount to playing with fire.. tongue

Back to the case at hand..

The Govt. should tread softly on this issue, 'cos this is exactly how terrorist issues are created, and terrorists are born..

There was a time when this Asari Dokubo may have been looked upon as a freedom fighter, looking after the cause of his people.. but we can now see that events have since overtaken this view.. I personally don't think it can be justified that one who claims to be a freedom fighter would so blatantly be in support of the actions of one who has been accused time and time again of looting his state governments coffers.. to the point of threatening and harassing innocent people just going about their lawful business.. the funniest point of this was when they started saying that Shell [A Dutch company] should be held accountable for actions of the UK government, no matter how "correct" the actions are.. Just because it is the nearest oil company that they can access or hold to carry out their activities on..

It is only when people come out and strongly condemn corruption wherever it is seen and whoever it is carried out by, can the people ever have a voice which can be listened to..  But then again, I didn't really expect much from them, considering that they all know where their bread is buttered.. Following past precedents, I wouldn’t be surprised if the governor eventually comes home, and any one who was visibly seen to go against him at this time would then be on the receiving end of the brunt of his anger..

I believe the Nigerian government should come out and make clear, in the strongest terms possible, the distinction between wrongful arrest and procecution of Nigerian nationals overseas, as against prosecution for crimes clearly in contravention of existing laws worldwide.. Maybe when these people comprehend the difference, then maybe we can lay rest to this issues, and stop condoning corruption everywhere...  tongue
RomanceRe: Infidelity 24 Hours to Wedding by CimonJorr(m): 1:51am On Sep 20, 2005
so.. let's look at this..

You catch your "wife-to-be" having sex with another guy 24 hrs to your wedding.. someone who you've claimed to know after months of courtship and 'smooth relationship'.. someone who you should know so intimately that you now feel comfortable to get married to her..

I put it to you that..

1. You don't know her as well as you thot you did, otherwise you'd have seen the signs long before now.. [and you wouldn't have had to wait that long to catch her in the act]
2. That she's been lying to you constantly and consistently [and she must be damn good at it]
3. That at the end of the day, you'd be better off not getting into this than trying to look for a cure to the "problem" further down the line..

Bottom line.. You're either scared to face up to the fact that the relationship isn't as great as u thot it was, or you're scared to face up to the fact that after so much time and effort, so close to the wedding, that it's time to call a spade a spade and call it quits.. What are u scared ofhuh Is it the financial aspect? or Is it the fact that you put so much of yourself into the relationship that you're scared of starting over..

One thing people must realise is that marrige is not a tempoary state of affairs.. it's a permanent contract for life.. so better not to mess it up the first time.. By accepting her and being the "BIG" person here [forgiving her and trying to move on], you may have given her a liecence to have sex with other men during wedlock, as you have laid a precedent for her to follow.. all she has to do is to go down on her knees and beg, knowing that you'll forgive her, as u have done in the past..

... but..
[if memory serves me correctly (and this is if the information at my disposal is authentic)]

...isn't this exactly what lead to the original splintering of the National Association of Sea Dogs (Pyrate Confraternity) back then in the 60's.. And further lead to the creation and spawning of other confraternities nation-wide, of which the National Association of Sea Lords (Buccaneers) is one of themhuh [I may need a history lesson here so please correct me if my information is not correct.. ]

I believe this has all been tried before... And we all can bear witness to the results of what happened then.. But I do agree with you on one point.. Parent organisations should be held accountable (for the actions of their members nation-wide)...

Well, at least somebody should..  tongue

Wow...

It's really been a while since I've been here last.. Work has been tight, and not much time to relax in front of my pc..

I have read all the contributions so far...

You know what...

I'm sure, with a bit of effort, I could write "volumes" on who or what I believe I am.. But to me, the real essence is what you feel or believe I am.. Any one can answer a question, and say whatever the person wants to give as information in reply to these questions.. but only by interacting with the person can u truly get a measure of the person..

Or do you disagreehuh....

The only way we interact here in Nairaland, is in the posts we submit.. It's only though this media that we can get to know each other, and know about each other.. Me telling u this or that won't be an indication of the person I am.. it'll just be me saying or stating what I may or maynot want u to hear..

Posts answered on a variety of issues, however, tell more of a person's mindset or beliefs or principles regarding certain issues..  I can give a lot of examples here in Nairaland for us to refer to.. my Little Angel, Angelina-Jolie can definitely agree with me on this one.. Just read through Nddy's posts (for example) to get a measure of the kind of person he is.. and I think u'll agree that only through them can u really discern what a person is all about...

Angelina Jolie...

Thanks for handling my business while I was away.. And A Wonderful Birthday to you.. Wishing you all the best life as to offer.. Just don't over-do it..  wink

this presents an interesting senario.. but there appear to be a lot of holes in what u've given us so far.. I don't wish to pry or compell you to release more information than you're comfortable with..

But..

In which country do you live?.. For how long were you in relationship with your partner before you got married to him?.. How well do you really know him?.. Have you met any of his folks or family?..

There are a lot of questions, but these will do for now.. Answering these will give me a better understanding of the enviroment you live, and will permit a better informed reply to your post..

Hope you don't mind...
