spyder880:Absolutely Spyder! I always ask those that suggest why not build a monorail, build an airport twice bigger than JFK, pave all Enugu sidewalk with gold, build shining skyscrapers all over town to beat Tokyo and lots of other frivolous things. Why can't they build it? Why is Dangote richer than them and their entire family lineage put together? Why aren't they the President of Nigeria or even the USA? If they cannot do all these themselves, We must accept the Reality of our lives and work hard to do our best based on our circumstance. I have come to realize some of them are elementary school children here. If it makes sense for them to accept their humble position in life, that is exactly how it makes sense for Chime to accept he has only N100 billion to spend each year on salaries and infrastructure. Therefore, he must choose to provide the basic needs of the people before aiming for white elephant skyscrapers project. We the people applaud his astute financial management because he could very well have ruined Enugu by embarking on an endless monorail project like Amaechi. We thank God that Chime wisely used his tiny resource to transform Enugu state. We have not lowered the bar for him, we are only being realistic based on how much money he had to do the wonders he performed. |
tabletman1:It's okay bro. |
oneeast:Bro, it is very hard to believe you are 200km close to Anambra border talk more of living in Awka. But, we could be wrong. |

B2mario:Yes Umuahia is more developed than Awka . Aba and Nnewi have more industries than Onitsha. But, Onitsha has more commercial activity than Aba and nnewi Comparing Abriba and Igberre axis to nnewi is missing the point because Nnewi is bigger than both combined. Now,this is not to under-estimate the wealth of people in this axis. Your comparison will be better to compare Abriba to Oraukwu, Nnobi,Ichida or Enugu-ukwu/Abagana area. Ubakala can be comparable to Ozubulu and Oba axis in terms of being close to a major urban center and having some impressive urban transformation. Arochukwu can be comparable to Isuofia or Okoh. Since Ekwulobia or Ihiala are way bigger and more populous. I have stated the facts as i have been to these areas many times. |
asha80:The river cruisers are so called "Flat Bottom" ships. They are typically designed for shallow water. They are not same design as big ship ocean liners which are designed for deep waters and high ocean waves. Before the Niger bridge was built, such river ships were used to cross cars from Onitsha to Asaba. They still use such ships today to cross cars across the River Niger between Idah and Agenebode in Edo state. Fact! Please don't start the dredging excuse, because our leaders will soon latch on that to deceive our people. We just have the least visionary leaders in Africa. All they can think about is how to get a white man to drill a hole in the ground and start pumping out oil and selling. Then they sit back and start spending big money like crazy. Nigeria is so blessed that every state can actually use locally available resources to build itself up. But everyone wants oil or nothing!
|
asha80:Malaysia and Indonesia also too palm kernels from today's Imo / Rivers plantations. They have since become the world leaders in palm production and all the associated agro industries using palm oil as raw materials. Why can't we copy what Malaysia and Indonesia did to industrialize around palm oil based factories and created such massive wealth? These would create a solid industrial base for Owerri if we had visionary leaders
|
asha80:Always thinking oil is our big problem. Two things Imo state must work towards is setting up a refinery and other petrochemical factories using our oil and gas resources in Imo state to create a local oil services economy in Owerri 2. Developing the Oguta lake tourism potential. We could start with offering River cruises for tourists in the comfort of a cruise ship from Oguta lake to Onitsha and back to Oguta lake resort hotel.

Yeske2:I truly suspect these guys aren't Igbo. Chino had killed them with pictures of Ibadan and Osogbo and since they don't travel outside their state, they have no way to reciprocate with pictures. So, the typical yoruba strategy on NL now is to say "I'm from Imo and i think Anambra is gutter" That bait statement encourage people to post ugly pics that they save for the day they will fight with the "flaties". |
asha80:True, Nnewi and Onitsha have more economic activities than Owerri. I can even say that Orlu may have more economic activities than Owerri. But Owerri has the best inner city road network than all these cities. ....and that is an indisputable fact. If Rochas completes the Owerri ring road system between Ikenegbu and Federal low cost housing, even Enugu will struggle to beat Owerri in internal road network. |
B2mario:Nnaa B2Mario, Biko gaa mepere onwe gi Abia state thread with the appropriate title. Just as you hate anything Anambra, Chino hates anything Abia and Imo state, so asking him to post complimentary things is akin to asking a chicken to piss. Unless you just want to be beating about the bush here, so that this thread will be increasing in number of pages of senseless arguments. |
oneeast:Bro, I am only here to state the facts. Not on any side because i hate this argument. But Owerri has better inner city roads than Onitsha and that is an indisputable fact.
|
oneeast:Oga Chino, I beg to differ! Owerri has better inner city roads than Onitsha. Fact! Only Enugu beats Owerri in inner city roads in the SE.........and I am not a Rochas supporter. But the truth is the truth |
Yeske2: Chino and Abagworo, Please stop your anti-Igbo agenda! We are not interested in this argument again! |
Abagworo:That is being smart by half. Enugu is the largest Igbo city by landmass, but Onitsha(+Nkpor) and Aba(+Osisioma) are clearly more populated than Enugu. Reason being the type of 4 storey mass housing buildings in these cities. Comparing Owerri to these cities is being smart by half. ![]() |
Ikengawo:Sir,point of correction. ![]() http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/minister-hails-rising-anambras-gdp/ http://www.news247.com.ng/news/minister-hails-rising-anambras-gdp#.VISTvDHF9JI Fact check: Some Anambra peps may be cocky or even rude about this fact of GDP, but it doesn't mean it is false. |
Is it possible to organize an investment summit of all Anambra business men in Awka early in January 2015? The government could help direct these men into productive investment opportunities to help create jobs and improve the state's IGR base. These people will all come back for the xmas, so call them to govt. house Awka on January 2nd to discuss Anambra investment opportunities. Prof Chukwuma Soludo had a lot of great economic ideas to help transform Anambra. Gov. Obiano should reach out to him to chair the committee and help Anambra formulate an economic take off plan with her numerous business people. We cannot wait until Soludo becomes governor to tap into those ideas, we must begin to implement the feasible ideas now for the development of Anambra BTW, what happened to the Anambra poultry Inc. floated by Anambra professionals and Emma Bishop Okonkwo initiative during Peter Obi administration? Such investments should be encouraged to take off by the state govt. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/anambra-professionals-commit-n420m-to-farm-project/83454/ http://allafrica.com/stories/201008200312.html Aku luo uno.....amara onye kpara ya. |
investnow2013:Bro, Stop that way of thinking. The same type of argument i heard in 1998 from land-line telephone dealers in Main market Onitsha that if the foreign South African MTN company was allowed into Nigeria, it will kill the phone market and cause a coup against Abacha as people will easily call abroad without the Nitel switch board and plot coup without their conversation being monitored. Today, more people earn their living via recharge cards and selling cell phones than in the past. The same type of propaganda and mentality was used against the Oba-Onitsha airport. Which was killed because we thought that an airport close to Onitsha will ruin the luxury bus business to Lagos etc. Again, has the presence of Asaba airport stopped people from using luxury buses to Lagos? Anambra must progress and cannot be held back by the interest and propaganda of a few. I hope you remember that INNOSON was a motorcycle parts dealer before he upgraded. Imagine if he had your mentality and decided never to upgrade. Even Abia State taunted to be the worst governed state in the SE had enough compassion for the safety of her people to ban motorcycle use for mass transit. Anambra must consider the interest of the generality of her citizens over the interest of a few merchant traders still importing motorcycles from Vietnam and supporting their activities with propaganda. |
Yeske2:If only they can transform Borromeo roundabout to look like the picture! The ambiance of Onitsha will be something else. We truly need those landscapers brigade to complement the OCHA brigade! Can someone tell our governor we desperately need landscapers?
|
B2mario:Bro, instead of wasting your time and pictures here, open a thread to honor Abia state and Umuahia our former Biafran capital. We shall come there to support you and help the thread succeed. Title your thread "Abia; the emerging industrial powerhouse of the east" Stop being unproductive wasting your pictures here. |
oneeast:We also need a brigade of landscapers to go around all our cities planting flowers, trees and grass along our roads, parks and public places. Anambra needs more flowers and trees to complement the clean environment like in the picture
|
oneeast:Bro, you have to learn the art of ignoring trolls. If someone makes a false allegation like that, the best way to answer them is to ignore it. B2mario must have seen pictures of all the places and houses in this thread. Re-posting it for him to see shows a child like him can dictate what you do with your time. |
