obamartins:How this vehicle will make a marked difference in the battlefield is still being debated. BH have AA guns mounted on pickup truck and drive very fast after they hit a target. Wonder how BMP 2s will drastically change the situation.

If this is true, i will vote for Atiku! The man truly inspires me so many times. |
tabletman1:Please what road is that? Wow! This might seem insignificant, but it speaks volumes about the change Onitsha is experiencing. Things are truly changing. I lived off and on in Onitsha from 1978 to 2008. In this long period of time and across many administrations both military and civilian, i had never seen a street light bulb replaced or repaired! For this to happen, as insignificant as it appears, it shows that real leaders are finally back in Anambra. The locust years may truly be over indeed. |
Schematics:By the grace of God and strategic thinking, we shall overcome all the teething problems. I was in a seminar about African renaissance and Rwanda kept coming up as a model for African governments to emulate. So I spoke to the Rwandan rep. later how her country became so successful and she outlined 3 major points her country focused on after the Rwandan genocide. Mind you, Rwanda's budget was less than $200 million before their economic reforms started.Which was smaller than Anambra's budget. 1. They weaned Rwanda of foreign aid dependence by boosting agriculture and help create Agro packaging businesses using Rwandan resources and farm produce. 2. They boosted foreign direct investment and tourism by making Rwanda safe, easy to set up businesses, building of world class hotels and tourist sites. 3. They created a central revenue collection authority to systematically ensure taxes are collected and remitted to the government. I think Obiano has been pursuing all these strategies in one way or the other except Number 3.Which is the most critical because government must collect taxes efficiently and block all the leakages of revenue into private pockets, in order to fund development projects. I have also noticed that 2015 Anambra state budget will have bigger contribution from IGR than in the past. Anambra must quickly set up a "State Revenue Authority" to systematically streamline all taxes/ IGR sources and have good strategies for collecting and remitting ALL internally generated revenue. |
The following constraints were also identified as impediments to economic growth in Anambra state. CONSTRAINTS TO LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT 1. There is no facility for any form of tourism. 2. There are few good quality hotels that can attract tourists. 3. The insecure environment does not encourage tourism for now. 4. The lack of a nearby airport is hampering business transactions. 5. Erratic electricity supply has hampered industrial development. 6. The non-utilization of the river port is not encouraging the growth of commerce in Onitsha. 7. The absence of a railway linkage limits transportation choices. |
BuddahMonk:Buddah, Biko, don't go on such leave again o! Dem nearly ruined this thread. Thank God Ngwakwe and other Mods did the needful to save the thread. That is how sanity returned here o! |
InyinyaAgbaOku:I had always thought Anambra did not need an airport, but i will retire my skepticism for now. Below were agreed priorities between the UNHABITAT masterplan and Anambra state government in order to begin the upgrade of Onitsha. THE 10 AGREED PRIORITIES 1. Rebuild the present central market outside of the city 2. Relocate some of the other markets (e.g. the building materials market) to areas outside the city 3. Purchase of environmental equipment measurement equipment. 4. Create an international market along Nsugbe Road outside the city 5. Create a mega-parking area for regional trucks, with affiliated services and facilities 6. Simplify access to credit and loans to generate new jobs 7. Establish new businesses and light industries that depend on a large number of labourers 8. Complete the export free zone 9. Create an independent power supply 10. Establish an airport (for cargo) It is great to dream about replicating Dubai at home. But without our government committing to a step by step plan to achieving that will make such dreams remain a mirage. |
OreMI22:It was actually 1 kilometer long and cost a whopping N300 million naira! Anambra standard or Abuja standard notwithstanding, the lack of street lights and road marking on that Park road is highly unacceptable. I hope the construction firm have not declared the road completed and disappeared. |
spyder880:Oga mi, Na you dey command that Okwu oto ekele eze? Well done ooo! You be my Oga ooo, ...remember ya boys oo! ![]()

RareDiamond:If there is any state in Nigeria that has Massive number of qualified manpower, Imo state is one of them. Apart from the fact that i don't support recycling of old politicians and military men as if they are all that a country of 170 million people can offer, Ohakim was a criminal. Ohakim wasted many opportunities and years of development for Imo state. He is bad news that should be confined to our unfortunate past. Imo will present her most brilliant and progressive sons/daughters to take the state to her deserved pride of place in Africa. |
spyder880:Oga spyder, Biko post the pictures joor! Thank you for all your help by saving us the journey to Enugu to prospect for plots of land at reasonable prices.I will soon get back to you if i confirm my sister's interest in the plots already marked out near Elim estate road. For now, she's still fully focused on the Centenary lifestyle city idea. |
OreMI22:Bros, I like how you put the render side by side with the real picture. It makes it easier to see what has been achieved and what remains. I had almost forgotten about those building being part of the initial plan. Thank you for reminding us that this projects still remains those outstanding buildings before it can be declared truly completed. I must commend the persianas group for replicating almost exactly what they had in their 3D render of the Polo Park mall, Enugu! Even the parking lot shape was done exactly. Based on that antecedent, I am sure they will build the type of structures they advertised for the hotel and office complex. Daalu. |
ChimaAdeoye:Absolutely on point! In spite of its flaws, PDP is still the only pan - Nigerian party . It really needs to do away with the vexed Obasanjo zoning formula for political offices. The APC on the other hand is a congregation of extremist and violent politicians. These people are prepared to levy war on Nigeria if they don't get their way. They could care less even if some if their supporters die. See how many of them support Boko Haram to perpetuate insecurity because Jonathan is in power. It is the duty of every law abiding citizen to prevent such violent men from gaining political power. I have absolutely no doubt that if the type of immoral and violent men in APC get their way, Nigeria will be a war torn place based on their tribal and religious bigotry and impositions upon Nigeria. |
IGBOSON1:Yes, they still left space for those buildings. I will repost a previous picture of Spyder where you will clearly see the left space on both sides of the entrance gate. Truly, the office complex will provide real office spaces for corporate investors in Enugu. I wonder why it has not been built. |
IGBOSON1:Exact bro. If there were oil or any economic resource in that area, see how fast they will change their names and sing the popular line "we are not Igbos ooo!" ![]() |
Goddex:Exactly. He should post a credible source. The list is fictitious based on the ops desire to deceive. Where is Kano and Jigawa state? Yeye dey smell. |
Good, Boko haram is now free to enter Yola, Maiduguri and Damaturu to collect more gals to useless their "abuna". We will be shouting bring back our girls until thy kingdom come and blame it on the Ijaw man. ![]() Where is Oby Ezekwesili when you need her most?? |
Atiku may win the APC ticket and I fear he will be a more formidable opponent for GEJ than Buhari. |
OkijaAmaka:This Kain art work sef! Imagine the amount of concrete needed to mold that image! Sometimes, this makes me see such men as occultists paying tribute to some spirit. |
Handsomegod:Exactly. We are all here to see how we can make things better. No need to mudsling even when you don't agree. I feel like writing same advise for Victor Umeh and his factions running down APGA. It is regrettable that our people cannot disagree without being disagreeable . Thanks folks for not letting an argument on flyover design derail this thread. |
spyder880:If you can get reinforced plastic mold, you can use the mold to make your own custom made sinks and perhaps a toilet bowl with terrazzo for each project. It will really give hope to many looking for cheaper alternatives for building their homes. Concrete sinks and toilet bowl may be cheaper alternatives in low income houses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ctBTFRDoys
|
spyder880:Pictures of concrete counter tops in the making and a concrete sink for installation. The mold for the sink was made by a plastic factory. Which can easily be found in Enugu. More Ideas on how to make a mold for sink or toilet bowl. (Mind you, you can also make these products out of concrete!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDIugh-UUeE

spyder880:For those willing to pay for luxury, you can find ways to add marble stones and make them a marble counter top. Ego ka o'ga eli ! ![]()

spyder880:Oga m Spyder, Where i have seen this, the entire unit is sold together as the Kitchen unit, with the kitchen sink, water forcet and wooden cabinet together as one unit. So once it is bought, the plumbers and the bricklayers will now install it in the kitchen unit by connecting the water pipes which run under the kitchen floor. The difference is that Kitchen table abroad sits in the center of the kitchen, a design which has not caught on with the Naija elite. But, if a few people try it out, it will begin to reign as our things always turn out. I don't know the processes involved in turning ceramic into hardened porcelain. I suspect it is the same way they make the plates. But it looks like they reinforce it with something, perhaps tiny steel wire gauze. The way builders when decking buildings reinforce the decking by using rods plated together like a mat, before pouring the concrete. Anyhow, all you need to learn is how to replicate the same magic using cement and concrete. If you know how to make Terrazzo floors, you can adapt the same process in making these beautiful concrete kitchen counter tops and toilet bowls. But you must polish it to make the final product of high quality and very desirable like a polished Terrazzo floor. Then partner with a carpenter (cabinet maker) that will make the kitchen cabinets which you will lay the counter top.The carpenter (Cabinet maker) may also help you with making exclusive designs for each kitchen. So that each house gets a custom designed counter top for their kitchen. I'm sure many luxury homes in Naija will pay for such kitchen counter tops than the regular wooden counter tops we use. You can adopt this method below to make the kitchen counter tops. Very importantly you can use (Cement) concrete to make that counter top just adding different colors of your choice. You can make it red, green, grey, brown or White like Terrazzo floors etc depending on the choice of the customer. Very importantly, like Terrazzo floors, they are polished until they shine. So it's hard to know they are concrete and not ceramic. The process is exactly like how we make red cement concrete floors.Adding a mesh of very tiny rods for reinforcement is wise, because many people will be in the habit of sitting on their kitchen counter tops. You can try it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNmJr7cQlkQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de7DoRhDYtQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Bisrho_22M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaYU2znsLb0 This is the industrial way of tiles making. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6UHfRXLwGI Hand made ceramic tiles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozk62FuD8jY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rawAPM_ksSQ You can also make ceramic vase for house interior decorations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpFCaHMjlhA Some Terrazzo counter tops below

Such a shame what Aba has been abandoned to become. I remember the days when people that lived in Aba were rated to be living in a better city than those living in Owerri, Onitsha or Enugu! I pray the the great Enyimba city shall recover from this most cruel abandonment. If Aba regains her rightful place as a great commercial and industrial city, it will augur well for the entire Nigerian economy. |
obamartins:Boko haram has this medium battle tanks and personnel carriers, and their fighters have proven they can fight more bravely than our troops. Therefore to win, we need to get better weapons to defeat Boko haram's tanks and armored vehicles from the air. We need more MH35 attack helicopters! Especially when they have night fighting capability to invade BH camps at night with surprise attacks as well as being able to support our troops in battle. We must find a way for ground troops to communicate with the helicopter force.

Calculia:@ the bolded, Igbo are immensely blessed but our problems are 1. Individualism 2. Copycat ideas instead of strategic reasoning to generate own ideas. Individualism: Although the Igbos are hardworking like a donkey, they usually cannot work together to achieve a greater objective.Unlike many other groups in Nigeria, certain things can only be achieved by pulling together. Therefore, the Igboman continues to suffer from her inability to pull their massive presence and resources together. Copycatism: Perhaps due to the type of education we receive nowadays which puts emphasis on cramming. Recently, the typical Igboman is unable to think independently and break new grounds. This has robbed us of our natural ability to be great innovators and inventors. Today, every innovation must be COPIED from an originator, usually some white guy. The bad side of this is that if in a country like Nigeria, where there is a state conspiracy that nobody should develop our resources, then we suddenly have nothing to copy! Therefore we will simply sit there in poverty watching our God given resources waste without having any clue of what to do with them. Instead we run to set up oil servicing companies because we can copy what the whites are doing, whereas with half of the money, we could set up lucrative small factories using coal and other abundant resources that we have. This is why i believe we should encourage every state to document all the resources and minerals we have and hold seminars to enlighten our business people on how they can invest and become richer using the minerals, while creating jobs and paying taxes to the government. Imagine that SE Nigeria has one of the most abundant ceramic deposit in the world. Yet all the tiles used in building houses, making tile floors and bathrooms etc, is imported from China ? WHY?? The ceramic factory at Umuahia has not received investors to modernize and expand into economically viable lines of production. Why not set up a huge modern industry using our God given resources, instead of waiting for others to set it up for us to copy? Ceramics has many uses in the building industry and not just for making plates and old pots for water in the villages. I'm sure Oga Spyder would love to build a kitchen with this type of ceramic table-top design, Ceramic bathroom tiles and Ceramic floor tiles for our people. If we can set up the factory locally to start using our own God given resources.

Calculia:@ the bolded, EXACTLY true!!! Igbos only find their voice when it involves frustrating the business of fellow Igbos. The same person is a pussycat when dealing with other tribes of Nigeria. Why is that? |
Calculia:It is beyond tragic what shortsightedness and lack of seeing the big picture can do to condemn one into perpetual poverty and misery. Mind you, Nkalagu cement is the best limestone deposit in West Africa. In South Africa, many prosperous communities have sprung up from cement factories in their area. Such can be replicated in Ebonyi state with proper leadership and legislation.Dangote may truly be bribing those people to frustrate Ibeto just to maintain his monopoly in Eastern Cement business. Just imagine that all the billions of naira that Igbos at home and in diaspora spend to build houses in the East and elsewhere in Nigeria which is funneled into Dangote Cement, a company that has refused to invest a penny in the SE, but will come and dump their cement to siphon our money to build plants elsewhere. The SE is the ONLY region of Nigeria Dangote refused to invest. Dangote even imports and use Tanzanian coal to produce the cement he sells to us. The same Dangote is building a coal powered electricity plant there in Tanzania, when we have better quality coal in Enugu and we are one his biggest customers? http://constructionreviewonline.com/2014/11/10/dangote-seeks-license-build-coal-power-plant-tanzania/ http://africanenergyresources.com/media/articles/Recent/20141013-Dangote--039-s-surging-cement-activities-propel-Tanzanian-coal-investment-425/2014-10-06-Dangote-s-surging-cement-acitivities-propel-Tanzanian-coal-investment.pdf |
FFKfuckedBIANCA:That won't be a bad idea as long as you will get zero oil money which is the cornerstone idea of dividing Nigeria . You better start planting groundnuts and millet now. Lets see how you can sustain your London being as lazy as you are. Thoughtless folks. ![]() |
kettykin:If a northern army officer illegally takes over power, no matter how temporary he says it will be, it will be over quickly for Nigeria. He cannot even quell the rebellion in the army, talk more around the country. |
Sincere9gerian:If you must know, it passes only thru 2 of the 3 southern regions. It starts from the SW and passes via Benin to Warri and then from PH to Calabar to clearly avoid the SE again! |
