Politics › Re: Yahaya Bello Protests Visa Ban, Accuses U.S. Of Partisanship by Cjrane2: 8:08pm On Sep 20, 2020
obi4eze:
The Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has protested the visa restrictions placed by the United States government on sponsors of violence in the Kogi and Bayelsa states governorship elections.

The American government had imposed visa restrictions on some Nigerians for undermining electoral processes in the elections.

According to Morgan Ortagus, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, the decision also targets those accused of working to undermine the November 2019 governorship polls in Kogi and Bayelsa.

“In a statement on January 24, 2019, the U.S. Government said we would consider consequences – including visa restrictions – for individuals responsible for undermining the Nigerian democratic process or for organizing election-related violence. In July 2019, we announced the imposition of visa restrictions on Nigerians who undermined the February and March 2019 elections.”

“Today, the Secretary of State is imposing additional visa restrictions on individuals for their actions surrounding the November 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa State elections and in the run up to the September and October 2020 Edo and Ondo State elections.”

The U.S. did not, however, make the names of the affected persons public.

This development has been lauded by good governance advocates and political activists who described it as a step in the right direction.

A member of the House of Representatives, Teejay Yusuf (PDP, Kogi) has said history will applaud the United States’ visa ban on some Nigerians undermining the electoral process, urging the European Union, United Kingdom and other developed nations to follow suit.

PREMIUM TIMES reported how the Kogi State election was marred with different irregularities and violence. Ballot boxes were snatched and voters were intimidated by thugs in many polling units.

Thanks God.
I'm really impressed with what I saw, runway is about 70% done, control tower is currently on the 8 floor, massive work going on the apron, taxiway is fine also, work is smoothly going on the airport road, but airport site is very far from the road shaa.

But the terminal building, I don't really understand. They said 2 terminals and 1 cargo.
I don't whether it's the cargo or terminal that I saw. But work is massively going on there contractors are working hardly.

Thanks for Obiano

Okay, its my turn to go. grin grin

Jonathan was not perfect, but he performed much better than previous presidents before him. From making Nigeria the biggest economy in Africa to the obvious infrastructural revolution, the ONLY reasons some people rejected Jonathan was because of TRIBALISM!

That is why Nigerians deserve their suffering and a United Nigeria is no longer possible even in 100 years. Nigeria is now firmly in the trajectory of either a peaceful restructuring to allow Nigerians coexist with themselves or a very bloody civil war that will totally disintegrate it by force.

No sir. He's wrong. Most of those rivers you see in that picture are tributaries of the river Niger and Benue. They are not major. They shrink a lot during the dry season which is about seven months in a year.
Besides, farming which is the major occupation is seasonal which leads to high poverty and diseases.
While I don't really subscribe to your theory of desert leading to low population, those rivers don't support his claim.
They know that everyone on earth knows that norther Nigeria population in a semi-arid desert is a fraud.

They will tell all sorts of tales how the lake chad water is used as fertility water to support the fraud. Bottomline, everyone knows its a fraud. Part of the reason why Nigerian state failed is that everything about it is a fraud!

Igbos were not scattered. All the communities at the borders of Igboland were deliberately carved into the adjoining areas by the Fulani military committee after the civil war to punish Igbos as minority in every state.

Even my hometown was carved into Edo state. Their wicked actions still resulted in naught.

Lol you guys have some dumb hot takes. I personally doubt if the north has bigger population but claiming it doesn't have huge population because it's a desert is dumb. Lol Egypt is a desert yet it has 98 million people some how because of the Nile. The River Benue and Niger make Nigeria's huge population possibe.
You are being smart by half but nobody is fooled. You forgot to mention the cities in Egypt where the population reside. As if nobody else knows that 95% of Egypt's population live close to the coast.
Egypt is not in West Africa. Even in north Africa, the demographic trend is that cities close to the sea (Mediterranean ) have more population than cities inland. Cairo and Alexandria are on the sea and have 85% of Egypt's population. The same trend goes for Libya (Benghazi and Tripoli), Algeria and Tunisia!

If these north African countries were Nigeria, the population of inland desert towns will officially be bigger than cities near the coast. The same way Kano Kano population is bigger than population of Lagos officially , Kaduna population is bigger than population of Rivers, Katsina population is bigger than population of Delta Borno population is bigger than population of Anambra.

Everyone knows northern Nigeria population is a hoax maintained by force using the instrumentality of federal government to rob the south of her resources and give it to the north claiming it has more population.

E no go better for you people in Imo state. You fight against nature. Orlu and Owerri were nearly on the same level of urban development in 1976 - Owerri slightly ahead.
In Europe and America, a settlement the size and population of Orlu is an undisputed urban centre.

Retrogressive people like you in Imo state who apparently have never lived beyond Owerri zone, take pride in having Owerri as the only modern urban centre in Imo state. You get support from some political leaders in Orlu senatorial district. These political leaders from Orlu zone you get support from see one or two old politicians in Orlu urban LGA as enemies; therefore they foolishly see the whole Orlu urban LGA as enemy territory, deny modern development to Orlu, instead develop Owerri area.
When they leave office, their hometowns in Orlu zone remain rural or even deteriorate.
The man who started the Iberiberism/Ohashieremism talk toward the end of his 8 years tenure - too late then.
Just help enlighten Orlu people to remember their area. I remember one Mr Ifeanyi from Orlu who used to live in Kaduna. He owned so many properties, commercial plaza for electronics shops and hotels there, but in Orlu he still struggled the tiny family home with his older siblings! He didn't even consider building a miniature version of his Kaduna hotel in his hometown.

If even Orlu people refuse to develop their land, who will do it for them?? Orlu people should learn from Nnewi people who are similarly disadvantaged by not ruling Anambra, but they refused to abandon their town.
Apart from being state capital, Owerri people have managed to build and get others to come build in Owerri. I know many of them that insist on having something in Owerri no matter how little. As they display confidence in investing in Owerri, other non Owerri people will also gain confidence to invest in Owerri.

Interesting grin grin
I was just wondering why the terminal buildings of the 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th busiest airports in Nigeria were not posted. could they not be found on the internet or is there something we are not proud as a country to show the Ghanaians?

Personally, i think like most Africans that Ghanaians are a bunch of scumbags. But it must be said that they have managed to grow their country while we managed to retrogress. You rememebr it was not too long ago that thier cedi was falling like a rock. Somehow, they managed to get sound people into government that did the magic and redenominated their Cedi. Think of our falling Naira today and if we will get such people due to our intrinsic issues. The fact that Nigerians now run to Ghana as "abroad" should let you know what we have become as a country.

Nigerians always have a bloated megalomanic view of the true Nigeria.

The longer Nigeria closed its borders, the clearer it became to other West African countries that they could indeed survive without Nigeria! Unfortunately with the prolonged border closure, Nigeria has done its worst and the economies of other West african countries did not collapse as envisaged, Nigeria now has next to nothing powers to dictate issues in the region.

In time, Ghana will totally overcome its initial shock occassioned by closing of Nigeria's borders and they will implement other punitive measures to hurt Nigeria too.

Dear Nairalanders,

Trust we all keeping safe.

I really need clarification from bankers and experienced persons in the house. A friend of my lost her father recently and they have started receiving their father’s entitlement which was paid into the account domiciled with a Nigerian bank operated by the deceased.

However, my friend’s mum lost their dad’s ATM, so they reported to the bank with the death certificate and requested for a new ATM or the money moved to another account but the bank is now asking for a letter of Administration and they will take 10% of the money left in the deceased account.

My grouse is not the letter of administration but the 10% they are asking on another person’s entitlement. Is there any law backing this? How can we go about it because the money is a substantial amount?

I'd appreciate your advice and clarifications. Thanks
This is Nigeria! Everybodi na kriminal!

In Nigeria, people abuse their powers and authority, yet the regulating agencies or public officers will not raise a finger. The worst part is that even the illegality will not be addressed by CBN. Why do you always like to argue pointlessly? If i didn't watch the entire video, i would have thought you heard something elsewhere.

@ 15.27 He talked about the NEW runway lighting cables/system being made in Germany to be delivered in October, 2020 for the Cat 2 certification on the airport. (Cat. 2 means: a recognized international airport by the minimum ICAO global standard, so that international airlines can then fly into the airport as a safe destination.)

@ 17.26 He talked about testing of the OLD runway lighting system last night. If it works well, it can be used for night landing until October when the new ones arrive and will be installed to make the airport Cat 2 compliant before the ICAO certification visit already scheduled for November, 2020.

Argue with yourself and try to confuse yourself.

1. Airfield/ Runway lighting is the light on the runway. (It lights up the runway at night so you can see the edges of the runway like a road while landing at night. Required for only night landing.

2. Instrument Landing system (ILS) is to guide the aircraft to the runway, even without visual confirmation by the pilot. Put in plain English, you can land safely in bad weather even without actually seeing the run way. This works for both day and night landing.

So, please stop confusing yourself and others

You can watch from 15.27 where the new and old airfield lighting and ILS system was discussed.

Category 2 ILS is different from airfield lighting. It’s true that the ILS will be fully installed by October; but the ILS and airfield lighting have different functions.
The ILS guides pilots safely onto the airport, while the airfield lighting merely assists the pilots to navigate through the runway and taxiway at night time.

If election is held tomorrow, Nnamdi Kanu will deceive all of you to go and play futbol and eat ofe nsala, and NEVER to VOTE! As your Lefelendum election is just around the corner! What oxyM0r0ns!

All the anti-Biafra candidates are allowed easy victory as Governors and Senators. The very next day, if Police shoots you or you are unlawfully harrassed, they very first people you hope will come to your aid? ~ The Governors & Politicians!

The same people that Nnamdi Kanu deceived you that your boycott to allow the wrong people to become Governors was more meaningful than nominating an IPOB cordinator and voting him in as Governor! You guys are hilarious!

If you voted your IPOB cordiantor as Governor of Enugu state, do you think he would keep quiet while police and army gun you down for no provocation at Emene? ~ NO! He would speak and fight for your rights if an IPOB person was the Governor. But, Nnamdi Kanu told you to boycott political participation, therefore STOP expecting Igbo Governors or Politicians that you did not elect to fight for you!

You bloody IPOB cowards should learn to stand and fight like men, not always running away to look for one Igbo leader or another to blame online or on radio Biafra. You guys are pathetic!
Nnamdi Kanu is a con-artist and a shameless COWARD.

He only knows how to live well with the proceeds of donations from these IPOB youths, while selling them FAKE promises that he will get Biafra within 6 months! Everyday, he comes up with some silly excuse why one traditional ruler, or Ralph Uwazuruike or Ebonyi State Governor caused him not to meet the UN Secretary General and get a date that UN will send troops to Nigeria and declare Biafra! The worst part of the tragic tale is that these youths totally believe this con-artist called Nnamdi Kanu.

Durin elections, the same Nnamdi Kanu will instruct his followers not to participate. Instead, they should cook nasala soup and stay home doing nothing on that day. After the elections, he will issue a statement that the Governors and senators are saboteurs! Now, why would they be pro-Biafra if you didn't vote for the pro-Biafra candidates?

Nnamdi Kanu is an unmitigated disaster that has used the hunger for freedom desired by many Southeastern youths to profit himself, while secretly working with Buhari to ensure he advises them to do the wrong things. So that they will not rock the political boat of the ruling class. Fulani hedsmen now have the boldness to come into Igbo villages and kill farmers. Nnamdi Kanu's response is to taunt the people with "i told you the fulanis will do it" So what if you did? everyone knew that if Benue passed the ban on open grazing bill, the herdsmen will simply move into Enugu state. What has Nnamdi Kanu done to encourage Enugu state Assembly and people to ban open grazing to ensure animals are properly ranched to avoid clashes with farmers? ~NOTHING!

I pity those boys listening and believing in the COWARD called Nnamdi Kanu. They will continue to hear excuses upon excuses blaming "others" for their plight caused by nnamdi Kanu.
