In many true democracies, important organs of their national way of life and put under the Judicial branch of government. Think of the FBI in the United States. They know a President or his associates could never truly be investigated except the FBI were under the Judicial branch of government.

The only way Nigeria can be great is when elections are credible.

The tragedy of the Nigerian situation is that even if we make all the advances because we had decent men as Presidents, it takes only one undemocratic person as president to rubbish the years of progress made.

Therefore, we must institutionalize progress by making sure it is beyond the reach of whoever becomes President. That is why for INEC to become truly "Independent" it has to be under the Judicial branch of government.

SluttanSlayer:
Election petitions are decided by the Judiciary

The CJN is who administers the oath of office to elected executives at both the gubernatorial and presidential swearing in ceremonies

INEC at both the federal and state levels must be headed by members of the judiciary who will be appointed exclusively by members of the judiciary council without inputs from the presidency.

Individuals appointed by the Judiciary council will undergo screening by the Senate.

INEC will not be responsible for voter registration and issuance of PVCs.

A national identification should be formed which will be located in every LGA who will be responsible for registering and issuance of a valid voters card . The voters register will only be in the hands of INEC.
EXACTLY! The problem of calling them "Independent" when they are not should be addressed by moving them to Judiciary where elections are not held for it's members.

INEC must print new ballot papers.
I bet you they will not.

They will claim that they retrieved everything so that they will leave a huge chunk with APC thugs to thumb print and rig.

The only thing i am begging opposition parties is that they should not sit idly by while APC rigs the election. If they can get hold of the ballot papers, they should rig too. It's a shame that Buhari that benefited from the best election in Nigeria is determined to organize the worst sham elections in Nigeria.

How can INEC postpone election when sensitive materials have been sent out to the states and other substations? The APC we know is very desperate and this is Buhari's remote control. This postponement has been pre-planned as plan B by APC if the pendulum swung against them. PDP should demand for a new ballot papers with an accurate imprinted date. This is a collusion between INEC and APC, take it or leave it. INEC cannot postpone election without the knowledge of Buhari. Nigeria must stand on free and fair election. Let the votes of Nigerians count.

Exactly!

Infact, unless new ballot papers are used, with new date serial number and date on them, INEC will simply take their thumb printed ballot papers of taday and say those were the voted for next week.

It is obvious Buhari's only strategy now is to use the military and INEC to rig the elections. Then cow the Judiciary from calling the fraud a fraud.

Unfortunately for Buhari, this is Nigeria. You truly cannot enslave Nigerians. Ask the British.

I am always stunned when African Americans try to pose as "Saviors of Africa"

I truly believe most African Americans on their mission to drive a wedge between Africans and China and the middle east are on payroll of the CIA. Nothing can explain that the same African Americans that bitterly hate and ridicule Africa and Africans will suddenly be so interested in fighting their perceived "enemies of Africa". Based on their antecedents, African Americans cannot be trusted by Africans.

If USA, didn't have strict human rights regulations, the same things would be done to Africans in USA by African Americans. Africans must carefully watch these new "African American - Saviors of Africa", after so many decades of vicious hate against anything African in the USA

I was looking at these two maps and a thought struck me about the new biafran struggle.

I will suggest that if the biafran struggle ever gets serious, we can negotiate with gov on boundaries that work.

U see how close abia state is to the sea? Only 3 lgas in rivers state seperates abia from the deep sea.

We can negotiate with fg to gv us those 3 lgas which are Oyigbo, khana and opobo lgs. In return, we will for-go all igboland in SS. Including asaba and ph and every othet land outside se. That way, we wont be landlocked and we wont be taking strategic fg territories.

The people in those communities can be resettled like the bakassi pennisular case. Those who want to remain will be given authonomy within biafra. Recognising them as a minority group. They will have a share of sea port revenue with biafran govt.

Our oshimili and aniocha brothers in delta state can also declare that they must join us. Am sure fg and international community can and will respect that. The rest of delta igbo or rivers igboid can continue in nigeria with wat ever identity they choose.

As for oil, we can also negotiate to keep the current sharing formular for our 5 se states
The assumption is that those LGAs will opt to remain in Nigeria than with their kith and kin in Biafra. That assumption is false. If Igbo leaves Nigeria, Nigeria will not continue as one united country. Yoruba for one will not want to share a country with fulanis and so are the southern minorities.

That is why they don't want Igboland to leave at any cost.

SKCOgbonnia:
Peter Obi Is Perfect For Atiku, But Bad For Ndigbo And Nigeria
By SKC Ogbonnia
October 23, 2018

The excitement flowing behind the choice of Peter Obi as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential nominee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) is a teachable moment. It shows that the Nigerians still appreciate good people. Overall, Obi acquitted himself credibly enough as governor of Anambra State. At least, he is one the very few former Nigerian governors without a litany of corrupt marks.

The former Anambra governor is also humble man. A self-made multibillionaire, through dint of hard work, Obi does not flaunt affluence, as most of them do, by acquiring private jets, chieftaincy titles or fake degrees. And, in case you have never taken notice, the man has chosen to remain a Mister: Mr. Peter Obi. Simple! His selection has, therefore, proven to the political class, particularly those of the Igbo stock, that the society at large looks beyond primitive accumulation of wealth and bogus titles.

Sum it this way: Peter Obi is certainly not the best the Igbo and Nigeria can offer, but he is he is perfect for Atiku Abubakar as an individual. The reason is plain: The heaviest baggage of the former Vice President is the prevailing perception that the man is virally corrupt. Atiku, remember, is a high priest in the billionaire club of ex-civil servants, most of who met their wealth through illegitimate means. Thus, it would have been very impolitic for him to field Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the preferred VP choice of the South-East PDP leaders.

Get this clear, Ekweremadu is one of the few politicians of the Fourth Republic that has distinguished himself. He is very dynamic and could have made a better VP than Peter Obi—by far; but Nigerians are becoming wiser. Before dreaming of any future national elective office, the ebullient senator should hurry up and explain in clear terms how he amassed 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to over 30 choice properties in three continents without any traceable commercial enterprise.

At this juncture, I must join to publicly rebuke the cuckoo governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, and his South-East PDP cohorts who, because Ekweremadu was not selected, have been peddling all the wrong reasons to deflate the choice of Peter Obi. The state of origin, for example, should not matter when choosing a presidential candidate or his running mate from Igbo land, especially where the chosen is heads and shoulders above his competitors.

But that is where any sympathy for the Obi candidacy ought to end, especially for majority of the Igbo who have been jubilating as if, somehow, they had a sudden embrace with the Messiah.

Leading the fanfare is the Ohaneze Ndigbo. But the socio-cultural group should tread very carefully. We must not appear to have forgotten so soon that the choice of an Igbo man as a vice-presidential candidate is far from historic. Actually, it was Muhammadu Buhari that led the way in the current Fourth Republic by nominating Chuba Okadigbo in 2003 and Edwin Ume-Ezuoke in 2007 while this same Atiku Abubakar fielded Ben Obi in 2007. Interestingly, however, the Ohaneze shunned those Igbo VP candidates, then in the opposition ranks, but opted for the PDP, the party then in power. This contradicting posture explains the disquieting suspicion that the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization is the political oracle of the PDP.

Nevertheless, the Ohaneze must equally come to terms with the reality that the mere presence of the Igbo in important political positions has not always translated to public good in Igboland. Let me also add that, while Peter Obi might have performed well in Anambra, quite alright, he is not the kind of leader the Igbo need at the centre.

Obi’s leadership woes are apparent. The most mind-bugling is the failure to attract any meaningful federal project to Anambra state while in office. Lest we forget, as governor, Obi was the much-beloved close ally of President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan during the recent oil boom when the Igbo dominated virtually every important portfolio in the country.

Yet, there is nothing concrete to show in South-East for such powerful positions occupied by the Igbo, particularly in Anambra, where Peter Obi held sway. For instance, the major thoroughfare in the state, the Onitsha-Enugu Highway, remained a death trap while Peter was governor. The mass deceit on the 2nd River Niger Bridge during the Obi tenure has continued to beg the attention of Guinness World Records. Needless to mention how Goodluck Jonathan connived with the governor to declare open the Orient Petroleum Refinery in 2012 when the facility was not even halfway completed. The plot was to quell tension in the country by appearing as if Jonathan had solutions in the wake of the 2012 fuel crisis.

The failure with the Orient Petroleum Refinery, a PPP project, is deserving of curious attention. When my team inquired about the refinery in 2014, the management was seeking $100 million dollars to get a portion of the $660 million facility to truly come on stream. Yet, Governor Obi had Anambra billions glued in commercial banks. A visionary leader would have committed part of the savings for the completion of the refinery which could have provided employment to youths in the region. Or, more appropriately, considering his role in the fake opening of the refinery in 2012, Obi ought to have been able to influence President Jonathan for any federal support needed to rescue the refinery.

Yes, leadership is all about influence. If Peter Obi could not influence Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, a very pliable and weak president, to attract projects to Anambra State; what are the chances then that he (Obi) can even gain the attention of a strong character like Atiku Abubakar who, as a Vice-President, was arguably more powerful and shrewd than his boss, a brutal four-star general?

The answer is this: The ideal VP of Igbo extraction is a transformational leader with the ability to maximize available resources to not only perform assigned tasks but one who can also influence others towards the attainment of greater golas. For an Atiku presidency, however, Nigeria needs a strong vice-president that can steadily motivate and influence him towards national goals and objectives. Peter Obi is none of the above.

What some don't understand is that IPOB/MASSOB or whoever are brands. The key members of these brands depend on maintaining a facade of authenticity if they are to remain relevant. Aligning with IPOB on any political cause is likely to fail because many figures within the ranks would see this as diluting their brand and relevance. This cooperation can only work if they have lucrative offers (like the newly minted super-wealthy former Niger Delta militants), but they have little political leverage to be worthy of such an investment.

Not to mention that IPOB have no strategic thought in their heads. Which is why despite all the grassroots support they mobilized, they are more a political nuisance than power brokers. If they had coherent strategies to advance their cause, their movement could have brought a real revolution to the SE, Ndigbo and Nigerian politics as a whole, but they were too myopic and lost in their own myth-making to think of how to harness their power. Osita Chidoka who ran a good campaign and positioned himself as a champion of IPOB got barely above 1% of over 400,000 votes in the Anambra guber elections, because the people he thought he was fighting for somehow thought it wise to try to stop people from voting.

What I still want to find out from IPOB and their sympathizers is how they intend to make their fantasies come through. Since you reject the Nigerian political process, surely they only other way to achieve your objectives is war. Yet, they also claim to be a non-violent movement. So if you eschew politics, and eschew violence, how exactly do you hope to accomplish this your referendum and your Biafran paradise that you dream of?
Excellent, well articulated write up! Much respect Sir!

You got it 100% right with IPOB. The complete lack of strategy by IPOB has continued to portray Ndigbo as senseless and directionless. Part of the problem is because Nnamdi Kanu always wants to use other people to get N300 million naira bail set by Buhari, yet he would not listen to anyone about how to make IPOB useful to Igbo people politically.

If IPOB had not adopted the scorched earth policy of trying to make life so unbearable for Igbos in Nigeria that we will eventually be forced to pick up arms, then they wouldn't be such thoughtless group.

Why has IPOB not thought about seizing power in Nigeria? IPOB has the population to seize power in the SE and in Nigeria by making sure their people vote for IPOB representatives who would go to the national assembly and argue for the right to Referendum. Yet, IPOB would not do that, but prefer to lurk in the shadows of society and preach political suicide for Igbos to avoid voting and marginalize ourselves even more. Our enemies know that it is suicide for a majority tribe to foolishly refuse to vote in a democracy, that is why they are supporting Nnamdi Knau to continue to senselessly preach electoral boycott for a majority tribe like the Igbo. So how do we get the right representative, Governors and even a president that is sympathetic to our desire for self government? The worst part is that Nnamdi Kanu now somehow feels the struggle is about himself and not the collective ideal of every Igbo person. Once a leader begins to see himself and his personal interests as more important than his loyal followers, then that person isn't fit to lead anyone. That is why Nnamdi Kanu cannot be trusted to do what is right for Ndigbo if it contradicts his personal interests.

Now the next trick is to release Nnamdi Kanu to help sow the seeds of confusion in the region. Nnamdi Kanu is paid by Buhari or was given as a condition for his release by Buhari. That is the more reason why Buhari needs to go.

Buhari is the WORST THREAT to Nigeria's peace and security.

If you think this report is bad, what is missing are the huge economic toll on Igbo businesses by denying them foreign exchange, increasing taxes on their products and exclusion of Igbo from most federal appointments and jobs.

My own IPOB family began our own rally from National High School, through PH road, we passed through Cemetary Market, then burst out at PH road again in front of CKC, we rallied from that point passed Abia Poly where other IPOB family joined us, we numbered over 10,000 beautiful souls protesting the illegal detention, those that were not in the rally were outside cheering and throwing the sacred Biafran flag while the biggest flag in the rally was in front facing the heavens as it leads the protest, we marched from Abia Poly down to the Military Barracks at Osisoma where the zoo army clear the way for us. We prayed for Nnamdi Kanu and Biafra and every Keke Napep on the road started carrying people home for free.

I fell sick because of that long trek but I was glad I am doing my part for the struggle, by the way, I lost over 19 Uncles during the Biafran war and my only war survivor Uncle is still eager to fight again even though he survived a bullet at the back.

So today, boycotting the election is no longer an option, it is an indirect vote for Buhari and I WOULD NEVER do anything that would remotely benefit him.

I would never boycott the election even if Nnamdi Kanu says so.

I am not voting for Atiku, I am voting against Buhari. So I am Atikulating.

This is not just me, millions of Ndi Igbo share the same sentiment. Buhari is the common enemy and we are not voting for him.
GBAM!

Igbo must learn to be strategic. I am concerned that Buhari may use our non-strategic way of thinking to ruin us soon. His release of Nnamdi Kanu to help him avoid protest votes from the SE is a master stroke to turn the Igbo lack of strategic thinking into an election winning strategy. That must not be allowed to happen to us.

Buhari released Nnamdi Kanu simply to help him convince Igbos to boycott next year's presidential election. Those who enjoyed Python dance must know that the next round of Python dance Buhari will bring on them if he wins next year's election will be so brutal that most of the IPOBS will be picked up from their homes at night, taken to a forest and executed.

IPOB must vote for good governance in Nigeria.Right now, Atiku is the ONLY alternative that Nigeria has to enthrone good governance. Atiku has also promised to bring IPOB to a round-table conference to discuss the grievances instead of telling the army to do python dance and murder the youths. Boycotting elections is doing what Buhari wants, so that he will continue his evil misrule of Nigeria.

This house truly turned out to be a masterpiece!
I initially was not thrilled by the color of the bricks, but i now see the owner and Spyder had superior ideas.

I think this color of bricks should be incorporated into more buildings. It has a way of screaming "Class" on the building.
Well done Spyder!
