I am not a Roman Catholic but I totally support their decision. It is nice to know that a church still knows what is right amidst misguided decision makers.

To your post: what Jesus protrayed to us is that with God (in terms of salvation) there is no Jew or Gentile, Male or female, bond or free, rich or poor. We are all one in God's sight. However, we have different roles. Jesus accepting women and seeking that they being treated right doesn't mean they have the mandate to usurp authority. The same way he didn't tamper with the 'Head' authority in the home. The man is still the head of the family.

If Jesus was preaching that women can be elders, then he would have included @ least one woman when he selected his disciples or better still make them 6 males and 6 females to ensure gender equality.

Another flaw I see in this your position is that you are trying to say that some part of scriptures are greater than the other. So therefore, Jesus' words should be held over the other instructions contained therein. That is not right.

The word of God is one and there is no contradiction.

From your explanation, I hope you know it isn't possible for a woman to be submissive to her husband while pastoring him at the same time without usurping authority. It is just not possible cos of what the pastoral calling entails.

A pastor is a leadership role that requires prophecying (proclaiming/declaring God's word in form of preaching) and we know the word is used in correction, admonition, rebuking and so on as seen in 2Tim 3:16. How can you do all these things as a woman you won't usurp? Are you saying she will be consulting her husband each time she needs to take decisions on behalf of the church?

Let's go down to the requirement for the office of a bishop as stated in 1Tim3 and Titus 1:6, it says "husband of one wife". So, it's clear the slot isn't for women.

We also know that in establishing biblical truths we look at examples we find in scriptures. No woman was ordained an elder in the early church, there were all men. Don't get me wrong. God's gifts are for all and any believer can function in them as the Spirit wills, but let's not meddle things up with the office of a pastor/bishop/elder - those are only for men.

There are several ways women can function in the congregation of the righteous. These includes but not limited to teaching other women and children, helps, music and so on.

Let a woman find her place and stop seeking to take over roles that are reserved for men.

Tgirl4real, I am glad that even as a female you understand this role. What some don't understand is that in trying to re-arrange things the way God has arranged it by saying the man should is of higher authority than the woman,they are being rebellious which in itself is witchcraft. What the bible said may seem unfair but Paul gave reasons by saying it was the woman who was deceived and God reduced her authority by saying her desires shall be that of her husband. We should all remember that some things does not seem logical e.g why serve a God you have never seen? A Jesus that is the son of God that had to die to reconcile man, why don't GOd just rewind time and correct eve? Why don't GOd just decree that man has returned to him without Jesus dieing? Why was Abraham chosen amongst all the people of the earth? Why is Israel the chosen people and we are just being grafted into them? E.t.c. The truth is that you don't use logic in deciphering the bible.

What the heck are you guys talking about by saying it is a sin? To begin, l will like you to define gambling. According to one of the google definitions, gamble means
An act of gambling; an enterprise undertaken or attempted with a risk of loss and a chance of profit or success. as we will all agree, any business is an enterprise hence imperatively, we are saying every businessman is a gambler. The mere fact that a man puts his money into something with the hope of getting interest but with the risk of suffering losses is a gamble already. Every stock trader on the stock exchange ( network, Dow jones, ftse, shanghai, etc) are all gamblers in one way or the other. The fact that you applied for a US DV lottery makes you a gambler. The fact that you applied for a job with the hope of getting employed but with the possibility of not getting employed is a gamble in itself. The disciples of Jesus Christ were all gamblers because in choosing the 12 disciple, they cast lots. Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles. (Acts 1:26 NIV) . If taken from the concept some people are proposing here, it means every risk taker is a sinner since they are taking a gamble one way or the other. When you go into business, you are more or less placing a bet that the business will yield interest.
The fact remains as pointed out by most of us. We should know where to draw the line and do things in moderation. Money in itself is not bad but the love of money is bad.Even food can be a sin when eaten excessively hence gluttony is a sin.

All those that have been screaming torture, I don't know how restricting someone's movement for 4 hrs equals torture. Do you know how many hours the police in the uk and the us can detain you for questioning? Please when some of you write, add some sense and exposure to it and avoid unnecessary sensationalism.
As I watch this video, I realised I actually saw when the journalist was being escorted off. I didn't see any sign of torture. Unless it was done after they left the auditorium. If so, where is the proof? The fact that MFM is apologising is not an admittance of guilt. It is for peace. In Christianity, we are taught to apologise even when wronged. As for the journalist behind this, GOd is watching.

And yes if a Church in the U.S. is organizing a prayer session, everyone including journalists is invited whether accredited or not. I think that it is better for MFM and their errand crew to stop and see the futility of their intimidatory tactics, Your (mis)handling of this matter has done more damages to your church than SR has. Every objective Nigerian knows that many other Nigerian journalists are for sale to the highest bidder. They are hungry and could have been "settled" pby MFM to scuttle the truth. So far, Omoyele Sowore has shown that he is incorruptible. Therefore, the fact that Sowore was the only journalist "arrested" is a testament to his integrity and should not detract from MFM's atrocious behavior.

Sahara reporters are two faced liars as evidenced by past reports. These I know for sure:
1. Selling of wares is not allowed in the auditorium. If a stubborn hawker does this, the wares will be seized and they have all be warned, yet some still stubbornly do it.
2. Selling of wares have designated areas which is very large by size yet some will still go beyond this. I remember once hearing a task force official telling a woman: 'sister, I have warned you 2ce to stay within the designated area, if we seize your wares and detain you till the programme is over, you will say we are being wicked.'
3.fire crackers is not allowed, yet some of these youths will come with fire crackers and will even throw some into the main auditorium causing panic ( boom haram has made Christian worshippers careful and not call anything bluff).
4. Like someone asked, what did SR do that other journalist did not do? That warranted them to be detained till the programme was over.
5. As for brutality, I know this is just a lie because even thieves that are caught in the premises are not brutalised. ( at least those I have seen caught).
6. There should be decorum in the house of God.
7. SR talking about journalism without proper accreditation in America? Going to a church where there are perhaps 1000 people who are honoured you came to their event is not same as breaching protocols in a jam packed event wi the likelihood of the life snuffing Muslims coming to cause mayhem is not same. Which is why bomb detectors and massive vehicle scanners were installed. Can Sahara reporters cover a White House press briefing without accreditation? MFM overlooked your accreditation issues and yet you raise dust.
8. The gates of hell cannot prevail against the church of God if it is truly the church of God because the bible says so.

You need to listen to anointed messages on holiness from spirit filled ministers of God like pastor Kumuyi,Dr Olukoya and Pastor Adeboye (dunno if he still preaches holiness and humility though ). A couple of responses have been similar to this, what I want to say in response is that there is a difference between praying in your home or some private environment and praying in a gathering of saints. Jesus here was talking about praying in your home and in the gathering also, some of us, when we want to pray, we make sure someone knows we are praying by ensuring they hear us pray or see us pray. In the churches, we sit in conspicuous positions so that we can be labelled as fire brand. Some of us even come outside service times to ensure that we give the impression to certain leaders in the church that we pray even outside service times.
The apostles prayed as one in the room but they also went to the synagogues to pray as documented in acts3:3.

To sum up, I agree with all those that said we should not forsake the gathering of the brethren but please make sure it is the gathering that feeds you with what Jesus will be pleased with. Let every man work out his own salvation with fear and with trembling phil 2:12.
