Now GEJ can see he has no justification for leaving Nigeria for Brazil the other time becos he justification now prove not to be there as Assembly members are not involved ... What a nation! However, Nigeria as one country is too big as a country for Third world/developing nation status. May their souls rest in peace.

Rid Yourself of President Goodluck Jonathan Without Delay, Eminent Ghanaian Professor Advises Nigerians
Posted: June 25, 2012 - 22:16

Prof. George Ayittey
By Samuel K. Obour

One of the world’s foremost economists, Professor George Ayittey has lashed out at the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ), describing him as “a joke” and a mediocre President after his (GEJ’s) encounter with the media last night.

According to Professor Ayittey, Nigeria “deserves a better leader”, judging by GEJ’s poor, almost unfortunate responses to some of the questions posed to him by the Nigerian media last night. The Professor indicated that GEJ’s refusal to declare his assets and his failure to tackle the Boko Haram crisis suggest that he is of an unsound mind.

He therefore called on Nigerians to rid themselves of GEJ as soon as possible. He said: “Nigerians should not put up with such mediocrity and should mount a RECALL GEJ campaign. They should check Chapter VI of their Constitution. See Sections 143 and 144 about removing the President and Vice-President from office other than through elections”. “137; 1c: “A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if under the law in any part of Nigeria, he is adjudged to be a lunatic or otherwise declared to be of unsound mind.”

Professor Ayittey, a Ghanaian economist, author, president of the Free Africa Foundation in Washington DC, professor at American University, and an associate scholar at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, made this known on twitter this morning. Read the entire tweet below:

Professor George Ayittey

“Look, this GEJ guy is a joke – a meretricious mediocrity. Nigerians deserve a better leader. Fancy his statements and responses to questions in a media chat on June 24, 2012:

• He has not visited Borno state, the center of Boko Haram attacks, because the airport there was not functional at the time he planned to visit. “And we did not want to land somewhere and fly in to Maiduguri with a helicopter for obvious reasons.”

[Why is the airport not functioning? Why hasn’t it been fixed? And are there no ROADS into Borno State?]

• Asked why he had not declared his assets, Mr. Jonathan replied in an impatient tone, stating “I don’t give a damn” about declaration of assets. He related that he had gone to the late President Umaru Yar’Adua to caution “that we should not play to the hands of some people [by openly declaring their assets].” Mr. Jonathan added, “That is a matter of principle and I am not going to declare. It is not the president declaring his asset that will end Boko Haram.” • The president said it’s a matter of principle and whether he is criticised from “head to toe” he will not declare his assets. “It is not right,” he said. “I didn’t want even want to declare my assets as VP” but was forced by the then president, Umara Musa Yar’Adua. He said asset declaration is “not the right thing to do.”

[Damn it, it is a constitutional requirement to declare your assets, Mr. President. See Chapter VI, Part 1, Section 140 of Nigeria’s Constitution: “Declaration of assets and liabilities, oaths of President.” And what the hell has Boko Haram got to do with declaration of assets?]

• Agriculture: The president said his government is revolutionizing agriculture in Nigeria.”We are giving cotton seeds free in the North” he said.

[This is the most crass definition of an “agricultural revolution” – by providing free seeds.]

• The President said the government is doing very well in railway construction. “You may not know, but we are working,” he said. He added that his government has made a “significant progress” in railway construction. “You should commend us,” he adds.

[What “significant progress” has been made in railway construction? How many Nigerians are working on railway construction with the contract given to Chinese firms?]

• UNILAG name change: The president said what he did, in terms of law, was correct. You change the name first, then send the bill to the National Assembly later, he argues. “What we did, was the normal procedure,” he said.

[No, Mr. Presient, you had it backward. Before you change the name of University of Lagos (UNILAG), you consult with the university and the student body, which you did NOT do.]

• Crude Oil Theft: “The stealing of crude oil is a Nigerian phenomenon,” the president said. He adds that it has gone cancerous. “We will stop it, but it is like allowing a cancerous cell to grow into a major tumor.”

[Mr. President, theft of crude oil is a CRIME, not a “Nigerian phenomenon or a disease afflicting Nigerians. Describing it that way means you are CLUELESS about how to solve it.]

Nigerians should not put up with such mediocrity and should mount a RECALL GEJ campaign. They should check Chapter VI of their Constitution. See Sections 143 and 144 about removing the President and Vice-President from office other than through elections.

137; 1c: “A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of President if under the law in any part of Nigeria, he is adjudged to be a lunatic or otherwise declared to be of unsound mind.” Link: http:///MSxUws ”

He has taught at Wayne State College and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He held a National Fellowship at the Hoover Institution in 1988-89, and then joined The Heritage Foundation as a Bradley Resident Scholar.

He founded The Free Africa Foundation in 1993, to serve as a catalyst for reform in Africa. In 2008 Dr. Ayittey was listed by Foreign Policy as one of the “Top 100 Public Intellectuals” who “are shaping the tenor of our time”. He lives in Lorton, Virginia. What do you make of his comments? Is Professor Ayittey justified in his criticism of GEJ?

Submitted by agbelero on June 25, 2012 - 22:31.

I am stugling to interpret this pitiful Yoruba word into English, but we use it when a person(s) case is helpless. "Ti e ba e". In Nigeria, our case is getting beyond pathetic. We now have our "small brother" or now a BIG brother tell us our President, in the 21st century is a mediocre. I did not blame the Professor, the answers given by our president is just hurrible and put a question mark on the man intellect and strings of degree. If the president is truly the representation of the populace, then we are indeed a failure. So where do we go from here? As much as I wanto replace this man, it will be wrong to put a BH man there.

He was able to take actions on Iwu, Waziri, Danbazau, and now Azasi & Haliru all after foreign trip. Every GEJ foreign trip is threat for people in his cabinet... lol

Politics › Re: 2015 Elections: North May Not Endorse Buhari by Cmeo(m): 11:57am On Jun 18, 2012
VERY UNCOMPLETED OR BIASED COPY AND PASTE NEW:

NOW THE COMPLETE VERSION:

Ahead of the 2015 elections, indications have emerged that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) of the Congress for Progressive Change may not emerge as the consensus candidate of the North, it was learnt on Friday.

In the past months, different northern groups have been holding meetings to strategise on the 2015 election and how to field a consensus candidate from the North to oppose President Goodluck Jonathan, should he contest for a second term.

However, in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, the Convener of the Concerned Northern Politicians, Academics, Professionals and Businessmen, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, said although Buhari was likely to emerge as flag bearer of the planned merger of the CPC, the Action Congress of Nigeria and some other parties, “his poor relationship with other stakeholders in northern politics would make it difficult for him to emerge a consensus candidate for the region.”

Mohammed said the planned merger of the parties, if it succeeded, would be a welcome development, but advised that Buhari should allow the leader of the ACN, Bola Tinubu to lead the negotiations.

“As a democrat, I believe that a strong opposition and a strong parliament are very important elements of a constitutional democracy. Our presidential system makes presidents too powerful and there is a tendency for incumbent presidents or governors to take matters into their hands and deal shabbily or unconstitutionally with their opponents.

He said, “I’m for the merger. But I would have thought that a broader ideological arrangement would have been better. I don’t know what the CPC ideology is; if it has any at all. The ACN occasionally makes statements about being progressive. But being progressive in politics is about pursuing a clear ideology. I haven’t seen that from the party of my very good friend Tinubu.

“I hope that both in the course of the merger discussions and the eventual merger, if it happens, Tinubu would be a positive influence on Buhari so that Buhari can be a true progressive. At the moment I have my doubts.

“I hope this time around, Buhari would be wiser and he would also leave the negotiations for Tinubu because Tinubu’s background gives him greater leverage when it comes to discussions of this nature.”

Mohammed added that Buhari had not been part of the discussions for a northern consensus candidate, and so may not be accepted by other northern leaders.

“The last time the North discussed the concept of a consensus candidate, Buhari refused to participate, regarding the idea as an internal PDP affair, which was wrong, counter-productive for him and completely apolitical.

“He cannot deliver the presidency without other parties and I don’t know how willing other parties would be to play ball with him, given his attitude towards other parties and other initiatives.”

Similarly, the President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Yerima Shettima, said although an average northerner may like Buhari, the elite of the region would not accept him as a consensus presidential candidate for the North.

He said, “Let’s not be too optimistic about the merger. The chances are still 50-50. Looking at the history of the two personalities involved- Buhari and Tinubu, it would difficult for anyone of them to step down for the other.

“However, even if it works, I don’t think Buhari would be endorsed as a consensus northern candidate. Some traditional rulers and the elites would not accept him. He is a disciplined leader with a good track record, but I think Nigeria needs a president who is younger than Buhari.”

Politics › Re: Boko Haram Is PDP & PDP Is Boko Haram- Gen Azazi by Cmeo(m): 10:41am On Apr 28, 2012
I think someone who is close to the PDP and feed on their party as vindicated us that BUAHARI and anybody else is not Boko Harram but PDP as a party is a party of Boko Haram. Azazi has vindicated those of us who strong believe that PDP is boko haram and not BUAHARI as pdp and his cohorts/agents are trying to make us believe. Therefore for Boko Haram to end, we must end PDP government in Nigeria by voting them out. No wonder, the President claims he knows them and despite all these attacks, he never mention them to the world!

Nothing is as time wasting in Nigeria today as NYSC programme. I am a Batch B corp member but I must confess the damn thing should be scrapped, it has honestly outlived its purpose back then. If it were to be retained it should be what @ridgeman suggested.

ridgeman:
1-serve in your own state (its better to serve within ur geopolitical zone)

2-Maximum age of 21

3-Voluntary

Secondary school leavers should be the target.

NYSC is another avenue for draining funds without accountability or consequence!

Properties › Pls Advice by Cmeo(op): 3:30pm On Jan 03, 2012
I just started property management business so I need an advise on this issue from the professional.

A client just passed over her building to me to take over the management of the said property have a failed attempt to collect rent from her tenate which was due since August. However, on resuming my due on the said property I wrote to the tenate that the building has been handed over to me for management and I requested for them to comeforth for the renewal of their tenantancy if they are still interested. The house is two flat; flat one tenate didn't respond at all but the flat two tenate came to me with a complain that he is interested in paying the rent but that he has a problem with the landord (who was in charge of the building before i take over). He said he met high NEPA bill of 30k in which he forewarned the landlord that he wont responsible for any previous bill above 5k but the landlord insisted the was no debit on the bill but later happened to incur a debit of 30k which he brought to the notice of the landlord but the landlord didn't come forth to discuss about it, after which he went ahead to clear off the NEPA Bill. So now he is ready to pay for the rent but less the payment he made to NEPA. However the landlord insisted she wants them out of the house and didn't need them and their rent again.

Now the question is; do you start calculating their eviction notice from the August which they have failed to pay for rent or from the time you give them the notice for the eviction? The last rent collected from them was a year which due last August.

Please advise

You have a right to your opinion but can you wait just for a minute and take about this?

Is there anything here in Nigeria that is not politically influenced? if you doubt the answer

Think about this again

Why are other getting promoted more than you in the your office?
Why are some going to training/workshop more than you or overseas training?
Why is your brother not getting the right job until now in Nigeria?
Why are thinking of private university for your child in Nigeria?
and many many more

Now you have the answer right?

I am afraid if this government of Nigeria is not deliberately scarifying the lives of common men for the "unity of Nigeria" (in quote).

Please read this story below and carefully take note of the direct quote of the speakers.

National Security Adviser (NSA), General Patrick Azazi:

“Retaliation is not the answer because if you retaliate, at what point will it end? Nigeria must survive as a nation. That is the key thing,” he asserted.

Gov. Aliyu of Niger State

According to him, “we know the sponsors of the sect and it is time for Mr President, security agents and all of us to go after the sponsors of the Boko Haram now. This is pure terrorism and not a religious war.”

Also note this: Oritsejafor made the declaration at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, before he was flown in a presidential jet to Abuja.

Comment on Oritsejafor flown in presidential jet to abuja: Is he not eating dodo (proceeds from the govt)? I am afraid if he will be able to speak ododo (truth) becos there is Yoruba adage that says (He who eat Dodo (plaintain -symbolizes proceed of a crime) might not be able to speak Ododo (the truth).

Presidential Candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), in the April general elections, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has declared that he would not quit politics, just as he called on his supporters all over the country to prepare for 2015.

He said, “I will not quit politics until good governance and sustainable democracy is entrenched in this country”. “We should not be deceived that democracy dividends will ever come to us easily without making sacrifices and the time for proper change is 2015,’’ the former military Head of State said.
Buhari made the declaration while speaking in Kaduna yesterday at an empowerment programme initiated by Muhammad Ali representing Kawo constituency in the State Assembly.

Nairalanders,

I am a Corper just posted to ABUJA for service. However, my Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) is at Aminu Kano Crescent Wuse II. I need a room accommodation at satellite  town that is closer to Wuse II without much traffic (so as to get sometime for myself after work) with a low price and moderate facilities. I don't want to spend most of my time on PPA and Traffic. Please any nairalander with a reasonable price and facilities should please suggest here areas and prices range in which accommodation goes for in such area. It doesn't mean if it is self contain or not provided its neat and price is moderate for a corper who just started life.

Regards to you all.
