Congrats Alexandergreat & damidamsel. Nice!

@Damidamsel, could you confirm if you've got at least one work experience in the required NOC of one year or more?

I think it's pretty clear that one can combine NOCs towards express entry. What I'm not certain about is if one can combine different NOCs towards FSW.

This is to help people with clarity on WES evaulation of ICAN ACA and ATS. I got my WES eca report today and here is the summary:

CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY
Completion of a college-level certificate (one year), bachelor's degree
(three years), and bachelor's degree (four years)

I evaluated my BSc, ATS and ACA credentials. The year for the ICAN ACA credential is 2010 which is old syllabus by the way.

I hope this helps.
Nice.
I guess the ATS is what got the college-level certificate, right?

Yet, we have learned here that some ACA credentials have not been positively evaluated. And this is even from 2010? Super confusing!

Good morning everyone. I am indeed pleased to be part of this thread. Thanks to all contributors here.

Okay . . . I have read a lot of pages at the beginning of the thread, but I have few enquiries for which I haven't seen answers to in the thread yet:

1. PCC: Since I and my family have not traveled out of the country yet, we would be getting Police Clearance Certificates from Nigeria here. I'd just like to know if IRCC also verifies the PCCs from whatever police station that issues it.

2. Proof of Funds: I understand that IRCC will require a 6months bank account statement showing funds availability. What if my funds are in a Fixed Deposit Account which was just opened this November when I started preparing for this process. As such, by the time ITA comes out, the statement will still be less than 6months . . . Although the Bank can issue a Fixed Deposit Advice/Certificate.

3. ECA Validation: In sending my transcripts for validation, can I process the transcript at my school and personally courier (DHL) the documents to the ECA body from a location different from the school's location? While sending it, I will make sure I specify that the documents are being sent by a staff of the school. The school is in Owerri but I am in Lagos, but they are cool with handing the documents to me for onward dispatch. I really don't trust that school in sending sensitive documents before my transcripts will land in Thailand.

The question is will the ECA have an issue with the fact that the school is in Owerri, but the documents were dispatched from Lagos?

Finally . . .

4. My wife has over 4years work experience. She's a Nutritionist too. She taught in a Secondary school for 3years (2011 - 2014), 1year housemanship in a hospital (2014 - 2015), Masters in Nutrition (2015 - 2017) and currently working in a food processing company (Feb 2017 till Date).

Since she hasn't garnered much work experience in her field of Nutrition, we are considering using her teaching experience for EE/FSW purposes. The challenge is the secondary school is mid-sized, they dont have a website and not a popular school, but they have a physical location and its fully incorporated. Our fears is that during verification of her employment, will IRCC have issues that she's using her teaching work experience and are we sure they will not try to google the school to find out if it truly exists? Yes, the school will issue work reference letters.

By the way, my wife is the primary applicant.

Thanks
1. PCC is issued only at Alagbon in Nigeria. Even if you make a request in Abuja, they've still got to do it at Alagbon and then mail it to you. CIC expects the PCC they get from Nigeria to be of a particular format, so if they get something else or something weird, it'll surely constitute grounds for suspicion. About verification, I'd say it's hard to verify every PCC they get. But VOs know what to look for in documents they see everyday. Just do your own part.

2. CIC actually doesn't specifically require a 6-month bank statement. Adding it is completely at your own discretion and is evidently to shed more favorable light on your financial situation. This means there are no specific requirements for a 6-month bank statement. What you've got is good enough, that is, your fixed deposit certificate. You could add whatever back statement you've got to it and it certainly doesn't matter that it's less than 6 months.

3. For WES, they allow you to send your transcripts directly to them as long as it meets their requirements of being sealed and stamped. It don't matter one bit if you send it from Potiskum. Credential evaluation bodies know what to look for when they receive a transcript. I would think they care much less about who sent the transcripts or from where exactly they come. Even if your school sends the transcripts and it doesn't meet the requirements (maybe the seal is broken?), they won't accept it. I think some people here have sent transcripts by themselves.
For other ECA bodies like IQAS, etc. I think this also follows. You might need to verify this though.

4. Without doubt, your wife can use her teaching experience to claim points. CIC definitely uses more than "Google" in their verification processes. They have access to several Nigerian databases, including information from previous applicants with similar histories. If they aren't too certain, they'll reach out to the contacts on her work reference letter. That's why they require that this carries phone numbers, email ad and person responsible.
They've got a whole lot of choices in verifying her employment history. That the school is not known should definitely not matter. They look for consistency; it's their job, it's what they are trained to do. They'd only entertain suspicion only if the stories don't stand the test of scrutiny (if they scrutinize).

If I were you, I wouldn't even bother. This shouldn't cause you worry. I don't think they care very much about the source of your POF; they only require that it's easily accessible and not borrowed (without substantiation).

Bro, I'm a realist and let's be real. If someone is coming to marry your sister and can't afford to do things the way it should be, and all he can give you guys is doughnuts and zobo, wouldn't you be worried? I'm not saying his fortunes cannot change later in life but the truth is that, I'd be very very disturbed. Nigeria of today is hard and we are all struggling. The last thing anybody wants, is to allow his/her child or sibling to suffer. I'd rather want them to wait till things pick up, rather than stress themselves... Anytime I'm broke and cash strapped, I know how depressing I get when I can't meet up needs at that moment. Not to talk of people who are married.
If someone wants your sister's hand in marriage, examine the person's head and heart, not his pocket.

Nobody truthfully wants to wed this way

If you have the means, go for what you want and make your wedding as classy and lit as it can be. Weddings don't happen everyday. The harsh reality is that if my sister wants to do this kind of wedding, I don't know if I'd ever be a party to it cos I'd be disturbed about how the man in question would be able to take care of her. We all wanna be happy. Brides wanna be happy on their wedding day... The fact that there are leeches everywhere, doesn't mean we should use poverty as a standard for judging a good wife material. If I want to get married, I'd love it to be as lit as it can.

Moreover, the fact that they got married like this, doesn't mean they would not break up if devil surfaces in their union. Poverty and lack of money, destroys so many homes and that's why it is good for one to be financially ok to a reasonable extent before getting married.
Isn't it quite neat that though you feel others shouldn't use this to judge a good wife material, you can conveniently judge the man's pocket by being "disturbed about how a man who organises such wedding for your sister would be able to take care of your sister"?

DanseMacabre:
I just got thinking about what our world will look like in a 1000 years.

You can answer from any POV or perspective you want, but mine's gonna be from an archaelogical one.
This is because I believe that this current civilisation, epoch if you will, will not exceed the next 5000 years, and that's giving it a long long time. One short reason: technological advancement + advanced sociopaths = nuclear weapons capable of obliterating human existence as we know it.

So, I feel that in a millenium, archaelogists (if they're still called by that appelation then). will sift through the ruins of this epoch and find plastic bottles, used condoms, carcasses of electronic appliances, hectares upon heaps of car, train, plane and ship scrapyards, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Wutang CDs, polythene bags; in short all these biodegradable materials with half-lives of thousands of years.

So, what's your take on what the world as we know it would look like in a thousand years?
Wu-Tang Clan. Spell the golden name properly, bro

Lol. You kidding, right? You might have to look a long time for that hotel.

For your PCC, go with a passport photo and your international passport.

For your medicals, go with a passport photo, a copy of your international passport and your original international passport.

Dear All,

Pleas help, I just checked for a brother the NOC and it fall under NOC 6641 (Type C)

Is Type C eligible for Express Entry,
Nope. Under FSW, only NOCs 0, A or B are allowed.
You could probably find something of the same strain under these NOCs. You might need to look more closely or stretch your brother's duties a bit.

How to search the "Canadian Express Entry" thread

Of course, you can relate to the fact that the more information you have regarding the Canadian Express Entry system, the easier it is for you to put together a better application at every stage of the process. One rich source of information is without doubt this Express Entry thread. But searching for information on this thread could be one hard task, especially if you have to scroll through every page.

How can you do this better?
You can use the search bar at the top of the Nairaland page to sieve through information on this thread. If you use this rightly, you should easily find what you are looking for.

To do this, insert keywords regarding what you are looking for in the search bar and click search (attachment 1). Once you do that you will then find more search options. Under "All Sections", choose "Travel". This will show results related to your search item found in the Travel section of Nairaland. You can check "topic" to restrict your search to the first post on a thread, if they contain your search item (not advisable), or you can check "images" to add to your results items with images.

When searching here, use simple search items. For example, "WES ECA" instead of "How do I do ECA with WES", or "POF gift" rather than "I want to use gift deed as POF".
The better search engine to use for searching this thread however is definitely Google. No surprise!

When using google, type in the google search bar "site:nairaland.com" before typing your search item in front of that. For example, if you wanna get details about doing ECA with WES, you could type in "site:nairaland.com ECA WES" (attachment 2).

If you want to limit your google search to results on the "Canadian Express Entry Thread", then use "site:nairaland.com ECA WES Canadian Express Entry". This applies for every other search item. So you do, "site:nairaland.com <search item> Canadian Express Entry".

This google search will show you results from both Part 1 & Part 2 of the Canadian Express Entry Threads. If you want to limit your google search to this particular thread, then click on "Tools" and choose under "Any Time" 19-Aug-2017, which is the date this thread was created. This way, you can limit results under your search.

Final things to note:

1. You need to go painstakingly through each item, if what you are looking for isn't immediately within reach. This helps.

2. Use only few words when searching. Don't type in a sentence. Use keywords only.

3. If you know the username of the Nairalander who made the post, include that in your search item. It'll make you get results faster and narrow down your search.

Hello All,

I just need your advise on a matter. Ill be going to canada for studies first week in january (my course is for 8 months only). However, i'm thinking is it wise to commence express entry now, i have 1 year 11 months working experience with a small consulting firm, and one of the Big 4.

Should i also go ahead and write IELTS now, to just have it now and probably not need it that to need it and not have it (hope you get my drift).

Lastly, if you were in my shoes, what will you advise.

*i'm still on page 9, have over 400 pages to cover #phew. Hope i also get more insight while reading.

Thanks in advance Bosses
If you can meet the requirements and score enough points to get ITA, I'd say you go for it. In the end, it'll also greatly reduce the cost of your education in Canada. Look at the requirements, write your IELTS and go for it.

Truth is if we had enough info as per month of passing exam from goldengem then we can infer that it is the new syllabus. Curiously even if you qualify in 2014 November, you must have written at least 50% of 2011 syllabus. If we have full info from goldengem, maybe other aggrieved people can appeal the decision.
I actually tried to establish that. Unfortunately he has it blotted out in the attachment. Perhaps someone else can provide this information.

Thanks
If your work history gives you enough point to get you above the bar, then you don't need to include the 2 other places where you've worked. This means, your work history gives you 3 years experience and is enough to get you above 67/100 (for FSW). You can put the rest under personal history post-ITA.

Direct scanning may affect the baby. But the clinic will usually provide a lead apron for protection. It must be said however that this doesn't give a 100% protection to the baby, maybe only 95-98%. But it's your call whether you want to take the risk.
