Hi Cochtrane,

Please, I needed some info concerning mmf.
What is the best way to contact you as I have sent several PMs already but no response.

Thanks in advance.
I replied your PM. Sorry about not replying earlier. Didn't really check my mails.

Good morning my people,

I just got my reference letter from my employer, and it has the address below.

Citizens and Immigrations Canada
Centralized Intake Office.
P.O Box 1450
Sydney, NS B1P 6K5

Is this ok? Cos they said they won't do "To whom it may concern"

Or should it be:

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
Case Processing Center
Centralized Intake Office.
Sydney, Nova Scotia
Canada

I have seen the two addresses on this thread. Or should I just insist on getting "To whom it may concern". Is there any particular benefit?
Thanks.
Though it is indeed different, I wouldn't complain about this. Looks good to me

Dear Cochtrane,

Thanks for this.

Just a quick question... I believe quite a few people expecting ITA will be getting some bonuses and allowances from their employer at this time of the year which will format part of the POF.

Please do we have to explain these inflows too?

Thanks
You should explain if it makes you feel more at ease with your application. However, I wouldn't think it's necessary. Just my personal opinion. I didn't explain the source of the funds I had in my mutual funds. Just tendered the letters.

Good morning Cochtrane, please did your bank address the letter to "CIC" or to "Whom it may Concern"? I am about to request for such letter from my bank. Also my money is tied in Tbills so I intend to request that they also attach my advice notice for each investment. Do you think this will suffice?

Thank you
Letter was addressed "To Whom It May Concern".
You should be fine with those docs.

Use a transaction accelerator like confirmtx.com
You should use Bitcoin cash if you want lower transaction fees.

Here is mathematical illustration of what I mean:

Assuming my average balance for the first five months is 20k (e.g (20+20+20+20+20+20)/5) or any other permutations. If in the sixth month I received 40k instead of the usual 20k. My six month average will be 23k instead of 20k despite receiving double the amount in the sixth month.

Don't get me wrong, I understand your point (e.g. a guy having a near zero average for the first five month receiving 90% of his POF in the sixth month would surely raise a red flag. But my point is someone who has about 70-80% of his/her POF over 5 months on average shouldn't raise a red flag because he receives a lump sum in the sixth month.
Just to follow with this train of thought, a lump sum in the sixth month will still not show in the average. The average is the sum over the six months divided by six, while the current balance is the present account balance. I still don't see how the lump sum becomes evident? Or maybe I'm getting it wrong.

Anyways, this is just for discussion only. Applicants should definitely do what makes them comfortable.

Thank you fellas.

Cochtrane, precedence has it that some if not many got away with such arrangement but sadly, we hardly ever read of rejections/bans on this thread. That does not take away the fact that some do actually get banned, and of course, not a set rule that this POF arrangements leads to rejection/ban. I asked just so we exercise caution and be ready/able to defend whatever document that is put forward.

Santino1, truly, providing POF in the required format will not reveal one received a lump sum few days before printing the letter but if that particular account over the past 6 months had far lesser inflows/outflows, then the average balance for the last month will be significantly different from the previous 5. Thus, it will be easy to conclude a major inflow came in the last month. This I presume does not apply to you. Even if you had a huge deposit in the last month, judging by your posts so far, I’d assume you have such inflows/outflows over time thereby making your balance for the six months somewhat balance. But for someone whose account has been receiving salary of say N400,000 with other little inflows then getting a sudden hit of N5m, average balance for the 6th month will be way greater than the other 5. Then again, it’s safe to say most Nigerian applicants don’t get the luxury of having the CIC POF format.

Raconteur14, your input is valued. True time of deposit does not necessarily matter. But having one month (the last month at that) stand like Okorocha’s statues amongst midgets just doesn’t look good to me. Especially when I know I received the money as a gift. I’d rather back that document up necessarily before being asked to explain, then I start looking for ways to do what should have been done before.

No one is saying applicants should not receive heavy amounts at any one time but can that money be explained when the question is asked? My concern was born out of curiosity as it seems some of us prefer not to go the gift deed route, hence, we receive the money then throw in FD/Tbills. The ultimate question I silently ask is, how do you defend this if you get ADR for 6/12 months statement of account. Recently, we’ve seen some ridiculous ADR coming from LVO in particular. That statement will definitely reveal what the applicant initially tried burying. Consequence of the statement and fate of the applicant is what is left for the VO to decide.

Thank you guys.
Good observation. I must remark, though, that one thing I found very early is that a lot of people have created additional requirements not originally demanded by CIC. I think this 6-month statement thing is one of these. The POF requirements wants "date each account is opened", "the current balance of each account", and "the average balance for the past six months". If a financial institution provides all of these, nowhere does "a lump sum" become apparent. The current balance will state what's in the account presently, while the average balance for the past six month is an average of the current month & the previous five months. The lump sum is simply not visible.

The stanbic MMF letter I collected (which is one of what I presented) did not make anything evident, lump sum or not, though I opened the it sometime last year and have frequently topped up. From what was stated in the letter, I might as well have deposited some money yesterday and it wouldn't be obvious.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying guys shouldn't explain "lump sums". In fact, I think explaining is a good thing. But while it may be a good thing, I feel it goes beyond what CIC requires. In the end, everyone's risk appetite is different and most are more likely to do what others did, if only it makes them feel a bit safer. I think that's what's been going on.

Also note that after submitting POF, the applicant is not immediately off the hook. CIC can always come back to request more POF documentation and a perceptive VO can satisfactorily establish if the applicant is trying to game the system.

I just got PPR and we have to submit our passports within 15days. The issue now is that I have an international trip due in two weeks. Can I raise a CSE to request for a deadline or submit the passport and hope to get it back before my trip?
Did this successfully. Send a mail to your visa office and attach evidence of travel. Give them a week to get back. If they don't, follow up with a CSE. You should be able to sort it out in two weeks.

Good evening house. Please if ine has BSc and PG ( proffessional Diploma or post graduate diploma) does one get point evaluating them? will such person now chpose two or more certificates? just curiois cos i thoight the BSc point is still used.
The first thing you should do is evaluate both and then observe what WES (or any other agency) has stated as "Canadian Equivalency". For your degrees, this is most likely gonna be 'Bachelor's & Post-graduate diploma' which will earn you "Two or more certificates".

You should get a chance to clarify you details on your first test day (usually speaking day). That's when you take a passport pic for their records. Make sure to point out the error then.

Hi Cochtrane,

Does your response here support the notion that monies can be received in huge sum, subsequently thrown in FD(or any other form of investment), all within a short period to submitting application without having any adverse effect? Asked just for discussion purpose.
Actually a very good question. Personally, I feel if it can be avoided, then by all means it should be. At the same time we have seen guys here who arranged their POF post-ITA (sometimes with little or no LOE) and had no issues with their application. I can only imagine how many more are not on this thread. Perhaps how close this post-ITA arrangement is to application submission is what matters. And of course, if not providing an explanation makes one uneasy about the whole application, then LOE it is!

I have this few questions that need clarification.

1. I intend to get a big chunk of my POF post ITA and then fix it, will it affect my application being that FD Cert will carry post ITA date.

2. If i use money in spouse account do I need to explain as I am the primary applicant and spouse is accompany.

3. I am claiming point from having a relative(sister) in canny, what document will be required to show the relationship

4. Lastly, I have a family member doing WES, she just got an Incomplete status on her 1st degree stating the transcript sent from school starts from 200L, she actually came in througb Direct Entry hence the 2nd year. What can be done to resolve this.
1. No, it won't. You only need your POF to be complete.

2. You could provide an explanation about this. Alternatively, you could have your spouse transfer the money to you and then provide a little explanation (with a LOE). If it's a joint account, you could just present it that way without an explanation (CIC don't mind joint accounts). However you do it, you should be fine. Many have done all of these without problems.

3. Check this link for details on this

4. She'd need to send a mail to WES (or have the school send a mail to WES) and explain what's going on. I feel they have no idea and genuinely thought the transcript was incomplete.

Is it necessary for one who already has the complete POF in an account to attach reference letter and pension statement from the PFA as additional POF?

Thanks.

Please reading through some pages now I stumbled on a page where someone wrote about POF using the valuation from an agent to secure UK visa. In my case I have a building valued at 7m some parcels of land which can go for 4m and planning to buy into Tbills with abt 2m to my questions please can valuation of this said properties be enough to scale through or must I show evidences of on going sales?
Please just trying to understand how this works so as to get prep ahead
You can't use property valuations as POF. You need to use money easily accessible, such as T-bills, cash at bank, mutual funds, etc.
You'd need to sell the buildings and/or land, if you wanna use them.

I hope to get advice here from time to time.

I have to say, as a newbie I am very careful when it comes to asking questions here
The point we don't wanna get to is where fear precedes the asking of questions. Not good at all. Answering questions here is a volunteer job and volunteer jobs, being not compulsory, should be discharged politely. I don't see how hard it is to simply ignore irritating questions and not crucify those who ask. No point fueling the fire of so-called "blunties".
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 2 by cochtrane(m):
Kontagious:
Ehm, there's nothing condescending in all she said. Yes, Canadianfly can be blunt but the truth must be hammered, not told in some cases. Do you ever try to reason rationale to some questions? You'd under better when you see beyond what is asked.
Konta, there's a difference between being blunt and being subtly rude. I don't think we should confuse that. Funshobabs showed me (at least) how miles away that response was from being polite. Owlette has a point, even if a little.

It's remarkable that much of this admonishing did not happen in Part 1. Guys who couldn't entertain this display of laziness simply moved on from the irritating questions. That seemed polite. And I'm sure the posters got the message. Unfortunately here, we see sneering reprehension all too often.

Those who wanna ask questions should please ask, no matter how dumb. That's the point of the thread. Those who have the strength to answer such questions will do just that, while those who are numb from seeing the same thing repeatedly are free to ignore. The mistake we shouldn't make or foster is to discourage guys from asking questions in the first place.
