You are absolutely right. People tend to take themselves too seriously. This front seat issue all the time. Humans should just learn to take life in simple steps but the problem is that we arrogate so much pride to things. Men and women having so much entitled opinion. I don't ever drag front seat with any one. Hubby comes to pick me severally and he has his male friend in the front seat. I simply allow him to seat there. Sometimes the guy might say oya iyawo come to the front, I will jokingly say oga sit there jare.

So much pride so much entitlement so much my space.
@bold is the summary. He's obviously more sensible than this OP.
At least it means nothing but he recognizes that it may mean something to you since everyone is not the same hence he gave You the opportunity to go with whichever you prefer.

Personally I'd consider a lady who insists on taking the chair somehow petty. so you telling him to never mind is just in line and normal with what any mature person would do. And him offering it is also what a mature guy would do.
Not the OP kind of fellow. In fact the woman didn't even say anything to him but he read facial expressions and came to create thread on NL.

This is a very nice flower though.
It just looks so lush
Onegai:
Celosia/Cockscomb

Also known as Wool Flowers. Beautiful unique-looking flowers with a soft, velvety feel. They have a very different texture and they almost look like fake plants but are very real. They come in colours like green, orange or deep pink and red. Plant in sunlight and dont water the flowrs directly to avoid fungus, they like a well-drained soil. They are very long-lasting in bouquets and centre pieces (below is a picture of a bride in Lagos who used them for her bouquet) and don't wilt easily. Apparently the leaves of a Cockscomb specie is what Yorubas eat as "soko" leaf for vegetable soup.

Oh no wonder.

Onegai:
@cococandy Queen of the Night, hmm, I vaguely remember it. I'll ask one lady I know who is a great gardener for its proper name.

Roses need cool weather to grow. So many people (including myself) have tried growing roses and unless you're in Jos, one very small pitiful looking flower will come out that's it. Almost all the roses in Nigeria are imported and that's the annoying thing, florists abroad will buy 50 roses to choose just the 10 best ones for your bouquets (that's what makes it pricey) but Naija florists (most of them) will just pick random roses (wilted or not) and give you like that and still charge you pricey. Which is why i recommend brides not to have just roses in their bouquets, max 5 roses and tropical flowers make a modern, lovely arrangement that lasts.

Be patient and give her the space.
Don't try to force the healing process.
Hopefully, gradually the fence will mend.
But don't stop showing her you're sorry and never intend to do it again.
She's probably a little bit scared of you now and possibly thinking you don't love her as you say you do.
Only time will prove your sincerity to her once more.

ooohhh, pretty. The U.S. is nice in that they have assigned zones to each part of the country, you can look up where you live and see what zone it falls under. That will tell you the plants you can grow there. And at least you have access to good commercial potting soil. Have you considered Orchids? my friend has some in the U.K. and they're indoors and she gives them an ice-cube and that's it (she probably sings to them to make them bloom).
Singing to flowers? cheesy

Yea I'll do that. They have good potting soils for less than 10 dollars a bag. In fact you can buy full grown potted plants and just water them but I don't think it'll be as gratifying as doing the work yourself.
Also roses somehow grow very well here too.
I've seen lots of house with rose bushes. Very pretty roses. They are my favorite.
I'll consider those too.

I pledge to do all these before this year runs out. lipsrsealed

Do you know this flower we call "queen of the night" in Nigeria? It opens up at night and smells so sweet almost like bananas mixed with vanilla.
I googled it now and the images I'm coming up with aren't what I remember.
Maybe we were calling it by the wrong name.
But that flower is so awesome. You can smell it from more than 100 feet away.
The petals are long and light greenish-yellow like the color of almost ripe bananas.

If you know it, maybe you can help me identify the correct name for it.

I want to start one but more than half of the year it's so freaking cold. I can't even imagine staying outside in the name of gardening in that freezing cold.
But I'd so love one.

I think I'll consider potted ones instead and leave them in the back patio so that they can get some sun. I doubt any indoor flowers will get sun in this kind of weather except during spring or summer.

These ones look nice.
Onegai:
OUCH grin

I don't have a garden now (we live in one of those service apartment type buildings) but we have one at my parents, and I'm helping my sister with hers. I'm going to get some indoor plants (we've got low light windows in the house) and take it from there. Once we get our place, I'm taking half the available space for a garden and library. You?

There's one incident I'll always remember and my siblings still laugh at me until today whenever I talk about flowers.

Once when we were younger, we were taking a walk and I saw a bush of flowers that I couldn't just resist. I went close to the shrub and proceeded to pick some only to discover that I'd stepped on someone's poo. embarassed cry
I wonder who'd chose to poo there of all places.
Some mighty stinky poo. Mehn. I stank all the way home before I could wash it off my sandals. (And their laughter didn't make things any better.)
Even after bathing I still felt like I was smelling.

It's funny now. grin
But that day, it wasn't funny to me at all.

Everything in life is risky.

If you must help, do so without expecting her to stay for it. That way your disappointment won't be too much if eventually she does leave.

You must know that helping her or not won't stop the relationship from breaking up if one of you is messing up badly.
Family › Re: Who Should Sit At The Front Seat Of Your Car; Wife Or Friend? by cococandy(f): 10:00pm On Jan 29, 2016
OP you don't have common sense apparently.

While such things may mean nothing to some people (me for example), I'd be conscious of dismissing them when it comes to other people.

I wouldn't consider telling or expecting someone in the front car seat to get up for me and if they did, I'd tell them to not worry about it. Because I feel it's unimportant who seats where.

But when I'm going into someone else's car and know that some people attach meaning to such things, it's common sense to play by their rules.

What will you gain if that your friend and his wife end up quarreling after they drop you off?
Just because you want to prove a point. To whom?

Age is apparently not maturity. You need to grow up.
Family › Re: Who Should Sit At The Front Seat Of Your Car; Wife Or Friend? by cococandy(f): 9:55pm On Jan 29, 2016
Exactly
babygirlfl:
Who seats in the front of a car might be petty depending on who is involved. What is not petty however is op's attitude. Also, in marriage, petty things tend to be the cause of trouble. If the wife considers it petty and ask you to stay in front, then its fine. In your friends case, it seems it is important to the wife who sits in the front and it is so rude of you to ignore and stay put. You also do not have respect for him and his wife (this might be secondary to him not having respect for her anyway).

I used to ignore who sat at the front of the car until I realized that some people just lack good manners. Letting them stay in the car because they were there already will give some people without manners the right to think that that is how it should be. They might not understand why they can't stay in front next time.

The fact that you are arrogant about it is enough for some women to teach you a lesson by making sure you get off that front seat just for the fun of it and not because it means so much to them who seats in the front. Most sensible men won't even let you treat their wife in that manner.

op, If your wife comes to pick you with her friend in the car, would you expect her friend to act in this same way you acted?

My goodness.

So she should humble herself and do what he says. Beg the mistress and and keep chopping shyt.
That's what you'd tell your loved one is such a situation? No wonder we have mentally unbalanced women everywhere. Folks like you have helped them rid themselves of all vestiges of humanity they have left.

God have mercy on such heartlessness.

And this is not just for you but other posters like you. It's beyond disgusting.

well, If you still want the marriage then do what he said. will that change anything .don't just look at the present...look to the future too.
pride is very inhibitive and a destroyer but humility and patience has reward.
Yes the girl is his mistress.. there is more to the relationship than you think..so do what he wants , bid your time..don't allow that mistress to push you out...as she has boasted....

Yes you should.
Not that you should endanger your baby while doing so but some people work with infants that age.
Just try to find a way around it.
Maybe your employers will be kind to allow you make arrangements where you can have access to your kid while at work.

Or maybe leave your baby with your mom (if she's free) and go to work.
Hopeful by the time youv'e worked for some time, you can afford to start sending him/her to crèche while you go to work.

Nkasiobi87:
hum, that's not what I want that's why I ask will a reasonable woman allow that.
You've allowed more than an unreasonable woman will allow.

I don't know what to tell you.
I've read your other posts and to be mild it's appalling what you put up with.
To the point his mistress came to live in your house and you're still there.
I don't want to call you unreasonable but damn.
How many hints will he give you before you know he doesn't want you?

Granted he's a horrible husband but right now I can't blame him. He's shown you in all possible ways that you mean nothing to him.
Yet you cling on with the excuse of staying for your kids. How do you see yourself? As someone who doesn't deserve respect? As someone whose identity and sense of self revolves around being married no matter to whom it is?
Common, somewhere inside you've got to think higher of yourself. I hope.

It's not like I don't know letting go of someone you love is hard but it gets to a point where the need for self preservation (which all living things have BTW) should override your need for acceptance by him. If after everything he's done to you you still entertain the idea that somehow serving his mistress might make things better for you,
I can guarantee you're better left alone. No need advising you.
