Well it is still too complex for you obviously dinachi: No complexity here. The thing is a clear as noonday. You have bowed down to the American Homosexual lobby and thrown out your Christian beliefs through the window!
I have never heard a more senseless argument. Your Christian faith forbids homosexuality yet you claim to be a Christian and still supports homosexuality because you need to please homosexuals and displease God? My question has been clear as crystal. If you didn't know homosexuality is a sin, this might be different but you clearly know that it is a sin but yet you support it still as a Christian because you do not want to force your faith on others. How else can you stand up for your faith if your principled position as an individual is at variance with the same faith you profess? With all due respect, I think you are the only one confused here! |

@bold, When you see people subjected to it holding placards to protest it, then You know it's unfair to them. Or if I put myself in those shoes and wouldn't like it when such conditions are imposed on me, then I don't need a scientist to tell me that it would be unfair if allowed by law. It's that simple. No law can force me to marry a fellow woman so giving homosexuals a right to marry each other. But a law that allows polygamy can can directly affect me and force me to tolerate that in my own life even when it is unfair and affects me negatively. See where my distinguishing of fair and unfair lies? @ the rest of your post seen TV01: ...ah! I thought you'd be out and I could sneak off to bed. Owanbe has knackered me today ! You didn't respond to my point about rights, but no problem.
Why is up to us to determine what is fair? Fair may not even form part of the rational of those entering into it, or they may desire it whatever the fairness.
So in lieu of "rights you have "justice". So again, what injustice is being meted out to homosexuals by them not being able to enter into an institution that is not based on orientation, but sexual differentiation - they are in fact rejecting it by their own choices.
I think I've partially answer this above. But it's clear that this whole discussion has to be framed around notions that don't really bear scrutiny. What exactly does marriage have to be considered in terms of "equality/inequality" as opposed to what constitutes marriage?
Marriage not being permitted for a couple of the same sex is not "inequality" - it's a fail on the part of the couple to qualify. Made more apparent as to re-define iot to admit them changes what it is - "gay marriage" does not make marriage equal,it changes what marriage is.
I can make the Christian argument - and not just the case against sin - and the social one. Good Christian doctrine accords with both truth and morality.
Give sin an inch and it will take a mile. Sin cannot brook dissent or share space. The consciences of those that glory in it will not hear a word against it, or rest until all celebrate it, or opposition is silenced. Wait and see - that's not even prophecy.
I'm not aware of such, and I personally don't make that case.

Has the drug cleared now? ColinAdua: Thank you so much for becoming a little bit mature in not using abusive words. It seems your senses are coming back bit by bit.
Meanwhile, go and read your Bible. Women were cursed by God in Genesis 3:16 and since then check the number of men they brought sorrows in the Bible.
Then turn to real life, look around your neighborhood and at marriages.
If you can tell yourself the truth, tell yourself the truth. If can't that's your business.
I have made a choice never to share in the sorrows God said He will multiply for them.
Well, that curse is lifted up from anyone of them that sincerely turns to Jesus Christ(like my angelic Mum) and give her life totally and truthfully to Him.
Is anyone of you willing today, to give her life to Jesus and be delivered from the cursed way of life including near unclothedness? |

If the polygamous marriage was fair to all parties concerned in it, I wouldn't hate it. So it's not about morality but about a sense of social justice. If something is unfair to someone I can't possibly justify it because religion permits it. There are practices that one can say yes it's other people belief so it's fine. Eg two people of same sex getting married. While there are some that while they favor one party is unfair to another party so definitely supporting it because it's part of the belief for the people who practice is supporting a social injustice. Eg marriage inequality such as polygamy or child marriage. Where one party in the union is obviously favored at the detriment of the other. I don't even mention Christianity or morality when I talk about why I dislike polygamy. It's Plainly from a social pov. It is also funny you find TRUE Christians who can reconcile polygamy and their faith huh? And become true Christians on different threads as the opportunity leads. TV01: And you will also hear !
So, this "right" that we have been denying gays that you conjured up out of nowhere, upon what is it predicated? Is it love? dignity? orientation? consent? harm? Please tell us upon what it rests.
And then please tell us if these predicates cannot rightly be applied to polygamous marriage - which thing you hate amongst a number of other domestic arrangements or relationships, without being hypocritical.
Notice i haven't even touched on the Christian perspective. Suffice to say I am in awe at how you are able to reconcile your faith with your stance here.

There is a clear difference between forcing your beliefs on people and standing up for your beliefs. In case you didn't read very well when I was replying 5mins, I consider a Christian homosexual as commiting a sin since the bible is clearly against it. not forcing my belief on others who don't share my faith is not the same as dumping my belief. Ok summary Men are irresponsible Women are responsible. Yes I'm a feminist. scribble: the majority of men are polygamous by nature...a man that has money and game may not be in a hurry to marry unless it is to fulfull all righteousness
most men are happier playing the field....i.e. courting different women
women dont seem to like dating several men at the same time or consecutive without it leading to marriage
a man is happy as long as it leads to the bedroom, marriage is always the after thought, whilst for women its almost always the fore thought
Man thinking: That girl has a nice ikebe, I wonder if I can bed her tonight
Woman thinking: That guy has a great personality and physique, I wonder if he is my Mr. Right

Seen TV01: Coco! Coco!! Coco!!!
I'd like to be a fly on the wall in your philosophy class Na liberal arts college? Although I guess in the US they all are now !
Let's take it as read to start, that a right to marry exists - homosexuals have never been denied the right to marry. We first have to ask what marriage is - it's "the lifelong union of a man and a woman"
It's a sexually differentiated union, not one based on "orientation" (if we actually agree that orientation is a thing - and homosexuality is not an identity, more a lifestyle, no matter how strongly one is inclined towards it).
So the requisites for marriage have always been male and female and not contravening any of the particulars, consent, mental competence, not too closely related, majority age etc.
In order for two people of the same sex to marry, we have to re-define marriage or create a new right based on different criteria. Nobody has a right to demand that their relationship be termed marriage - just because they desire it - or redefine marriage.
So homosexuals have all the rights you have - what they are after is a new one or too re-define an existing one into meaninglessness so they can participate.
Afterall, if two "straight" men applied for a marriage license, why would they be denied? It was never about orientation, it was about sexual differentiation, not about anumus towards gays, about the outcome of the conjugal relationship between "straights" - said thing gays reject and cannot accomplish.
Feel free to raise this philosophically in class before you reply !

Seen 5minsmadness: Oh? Examples pls.
Though its interesting you think yourself so morally high above me that I can't teach you a thing or two about the faith. But anyway.
My dear the only reason you are not being banned right now by such people is because of those who fought for their christian rights before you. You will agree with me that if you go to Saudi Arabia now or Pakistan that those your rights you so freely talk about WILL be thrown out the window. That's because they have exercised their rights according to their faith and what they want in their country. And if you don't do the same in yours one day you will see yourself being forced to do what you won't normally do. "America the land of the free" is gradually turning into "America the land of the homosexuals and if you dare exercise your right to not like it you will lose your job and be suspended or jailed".
Melodrama except for bolded. Kids were learning about homosexuality pretty well already thank you very much. They knew it as an abberation. They knew bout male and female and the copulation of both naturally giving birth to a baby. In psychiatry class(yes, psychiatry) is where they would have learnt of homosexuality first. As an aberration. And even there it wasn't stigmatised against but seen as what you know it is even though you don't want to admit it, an illness. A man wasnt made to fvck another man. Simple. And none of them turned into automatic homosexuals either.
Eh ya. Happy for your kids Ma'm. I know you won't have any problem with your teachers encouraging your male child to proclaim love for another male. For your Sam to come home one day at the age of 14 to excitedly tell you he got his first kiss from Bob his best friend. I know you won't mind the fact that you can't tell him this is wrong or against your chirsitian beliefs because not only would you have no moral standing to tell him not to, but if you do social security will take your son from you cos you are a bad influence on him by not tolerating his gay tendencies.
By then you would have lost your right to teach him your faith. But that's OK. Live and let live. Or is it really?
Yeah I've heard this a lot too. The bible said "Judge not that ye may not be judged". It didn't say you should keep quiet when you see something morally wrong being perpetrated .
Mahatma Ghandi said "Evil thrives when good men (and women) do nothing.
Dhalsim said "when good men(and women) say nothing in the face of evil, the act of silence becomes evil in itself. |

First of all,If everyone needs to be married to be happy, why is no one deliberating on the unhappiness of single guys? Baffles me. Maybe they don't need women to be happy too. Only women need men to be happy? I'm saying this because even you stressed on single women. Well before you get me wrong, I never alluded that anybody can be an island. So yes people do get lonely and yearn for love. If they can be fulfilled with being in love with someone ,do we still say they are unhappy because they haven't entered into a marriage contract? From what I've seen in my short life, I think I can still maintain that marriage is not the key to happiness. I know why I'm stressing on this. Because people tend to believe what they read on the Internet and expect that once they get married, their sorrows will varnish. How, I don't know. I think this their sole belief that marriage is the key to utopia is the leading cause of disappointment after the wedding ceremonies. The magic is not happening and then they begin to react negatively because somehow they did not develop the understanding before going into the union that it won't be magic wand that solves all their emotional problems. Plus all the responsibility that comes with it. For me I think it's who you're in love with (if you are) that helps determine if you're emotionally satisfied or not. That's what our babe here does not know. So she assumed Linda is unfulfilled because no papers were signed. chineloSA: I have to disagree with you on this one.
We are all love beings. We want to be loved and also reciprocate love, regardless of who you are, ( disabled, gay, lesbian, teenager, mentally unstable etc. ALL HUMAN BEINGS ARE LOVE BEINGS.
Woman always PUBLICLY say " I dont need a man ", " I am happy" blah blah blah. In their private spaces they yern to be loved and also reciprocate love. Woman always say all those things when they see that things are not going their way. No man is proposing and the can't keep no man down. They are also the first ones to attack people who ask about their single status. Some of them you find that they made wrong choices in life e.g. kids before marriage, dumped good guys for bad guys, HIV or STI status etc. When they see that they cannot reverse those choices then they start forming " I DONT NEED A MAN TO MAKE ME HAPPY " nonsense
I will only believe all these bla bla bla " I am happy" " I dont need a man" stories when those woman have never dated, are not dating and will never date. So long as they continue to date its a lie.
Unless you have been raped, victim of abuse, even so, they yearn for a good partner who is an opposite of what they went through.
Ironically the same woman later on in life they chase after other peoples husbands and also young boys. Who is fooling who?
Well, thank your God you didn't reach 30 without a ring on your finger. Frankly you can never understand what an over 30yr old woman who is not married feels like. In their private spaces when they are having self conversation, its not easy ooo. THEY WILL NEVER ADMIT TO YOU.
I am not saying Linda is unhappy, but she needs a man to add to her happiness. She may have the money, but she cant talk to her money, cuddle her money, have s.x with her money, be mad at her money, cook for her money, shout at her money etc. She needs a man for that, not even sisters or kids can never fill that role.
That being said, I am not saying single people are not happy, but they need somebody to add onto their happiness WE ALL WANT TO BE SOMEONES CENTRE OF UNIVERSE.
so coogar is somehow right. |

Really? You 5min. Want to teach me about being a true Christiain? I've heard it. It is funny you remember your Christain faith when it is stuff that you don't like. But when it is something unfair and unjust to other people but is comfortable for you, your Christianity flies out the window. Your kind are the funniest of christains. I repeat, if fighting and actively campaigning for other people's right to be denied because it doesn't suit your faith is true Christianity to you, count me out. I do know that true Muslims and true whatever-other religions if they had their way would want a person like me to be banned from certain things because it is unholy in their books. And they'd be right too if we all listened to you. So Let's all fight each other in this zoo called the earth and try to make our way the superior way. And in the process kill each other because we are too dumb to understand that 7billion people cannot be the same. Trueness of anything in its purest form must mean eliminate anyone of a different orientation. Well Except you plan a genocide of the magnitude of the holocaust on homosexual people all over the world so that they will all be wiped out and no traces of them left, there's no way your kids won't learn about. Accept that now and have peace. Not everyone who learned about it turned gay. If your kids are born into this world, they must know homosexual beings exist. It exists hence they MUST learn about it. I have accepted that they have a social right to be married like me. And my kids will learn to accept that too. They will know to keep their judgment to themselves. 5minsmadness: You are not answering the question. But I get where u r going from your lengthy explanations.
Sorry to say you are not a christian, maybe born one. You are a PACIFIST. And it is not a good word in this context. A christain stands up for her values and defends them. If not her value has no substance and makes no impact. The other religions you are talking about are standing for something and are already forcing their opinions on you albeit subtly. You are content with just not airing your opinion at all or taking a stand in any matter that concerns public opinion so as not to be seen as demanding. The truth is that in this scenario your silence means consent. And the day these 'equal rights' people vote for change your vote will count for them cos you probably won't vote at all
And the day these 'equal rights' people force you to accept their ideologies and force you to teach it to your children (even though its against your beliefs) you won't have a choice then cos it would have been passed into law and then you might be the one fighting for 'equal rights'. Its already happening if only you can open your eyes to look around you.
This is not about fanaticism or conspiracy theories, this is about morality and the right to be able to decipher right from wrong and choose what is right without being penalised by the law for it. |
