This is actually correct. If he's slashing the president's salary is it supposed to be a henceforth thing for other coming presidents or what.
Donation is the more sensible way to go.
kennydee05: Buhari Does Not Have Right To Cut His Salary — Odinkalu Channels Television. Updated July 13, 2015 The National Human Rights Commission says the Nigerian President, Vice President and Governors have no powers, under the law, to cut their salaries.
A professor of law and the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Professor Chidi Odinkalu, told Channels Television on Sunday that the right to cut salaries rests with the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
“This idea of Governors, President or Vice President slashing their salaries, I think it is alluring and a lot of people will welcome it.
“But I will caution that there is going to be a process here, the salaries of the President, Vice President and Governors are not set by them and they actually don’t have the powers under the law to cut their own salaries.
“That is done by the Revenue mobilisation, allocation and fiscal commission,” he said.
Professor Odinkalu further stressed that there was no law that empowered the President to cut his salary.
President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had last week said they would only take 50 per cent of their salaries, as part of their commitment to cutting cost of governance.
The decision was welcomed by most Nigerian, as they believed it was a good way for the President to begin the fulfilment of his promise to cut cost.
But Mr Odinkalu suggested that for the President, Vice President and Governors to cut their salaries, there should be a review of the constitution to empower them to take such decisions.
“What will happen is that they can collect their salaries and decide to donate 50 per cent of that back to the state. We need a system to get that money and be able to use it for public purpose.
“Let us not because of populism do something that is not authorised by law.
Now I'm actually going through the thread and at one point you asked someone if he thought those that practiced polygamy would go to hell?
So you do believe and know that not everyone who practices other beliefs apart from Christianity is doomed?
How nice. I didn't know you had tolerance for anything that wasn't upholding your faith. Or maybe you do when it's something you'd like to do. I was looking for that same tolerance from you in other areas. If you won't show the same tolerance, then show the same moral revulsion you exhibit in the name of staring up for your beliefs. Don't pick and choose.
5minsmadness: You obviuosly dont. You read your own meanings into clearly defined statements and make unnecessary generalisations to suit your pupoose. Its called being MANIPULATIVE.
5minsmadness: A monogamous man is naturally attracted to women! He may be married yes and still be attracted to another woman outside of his matrimonial home! And to think he cant be atttractedonce he gets married is to decieve yourself, plain and simple! It is acting upon this attraction that is a sin! Thinking on it, dwelling on it, acting it out, that is adulterry and a sin and I have never in any way condoned it!
5minsmadness: ------------------------------------!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What imbrogglio! ***walks out of room to cool temper****
Lol you even called enforced monogamy 'unfortunate' God must be unkind to give such commandments.
Normally whenever I indulge in social topics like this, I don't use religion as my basis because I know not everyone will agree. Rather I view it from the angle of what's fair to everyone involved. And that's the angle I try to speak from at all times. Never mind what my own personal belief about the issue is.
You're the one that can't resist trying to show your holiness and superior Christianity when you know you can't even uphold biblical laws to a T much less try to tell others whether they are true believer or not.
I asked you if a monogamous man was doing something unnatural and you said yes. Even though God clearly commands you otherwise. So you believe you have a right to interprete the bible how it suits you and turn around to tell me how to be true Christain.
5minsmadness: Enough of this slander! Cococandy when did I say the above?!?!? Post it here verbatim or forever remain a Liar!
Check your thread. Men are polygamous in nature. You even said the bible does not enforce monogamy. Lmao. It's like you say something today and forget the next day. Abeg I'm done with this topic.
Woged2005: ..I don't think you live in NYC or DC. If you do, y'd know that angry black ladies say worse things than that. You don't wanna cross their line on a bad day. Moreover, remember these are ladies who don't wanna have anything to do with the man in question. It's a turn-off response...called a 'Get lost answer'. As per being vocal, you ain't seen anything yet..cross the line of an angry black lady from New York or Washington DC, you will enter enter flight back to naija..fast fast!
chineloSA: Looks good. Teriyaki chicken, is it Cantonese type of chicken recipe? Please share the recipe dear.
I saw it on food network. It doesn't say anything about being Cantonese.
I used 2pounds chicken breasts. Cut into little pieces and marinate in your favorite marinade for 10-16hrs in your refrigerator. I blended ginger, onions, Maggi, salt and pepper into the marinade. I just left it over night. When you're ready to cook, pick them out of the marinade and deep fry until well cooked and brown on the outside. It should be crisp.
Mix a spoonful of honey, 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce, 1/4cup vinegar,and1spoonful brown sugar dissolved in a little water. Heat all in a sauce pan and allow to boil until it starts getting a little thick. I added a teaspoonful of flour to help the thickening process (I can be impatient sometimes when cooking )
Then stir in your fried chicken until each piece is thoroughly covered. Lower the heat and leave for another 3mins. You can leave for longer if you want it really sticky.
I read through your post again. I sent you mentions cos I thought you'd be interested in the topic, not because i wanted to rub anything in your face. If you want you can google how homosexuality was voted out of being a psychiatric illness and came to be accepted as normal. It makes a very interesting read.
I didn't say you're NL tenant o. But you manage to know where every discussion about homos is holding on NL.
If you love your religion so much that you're concerned about my soul and it is giving you sleepless nights that I'm going to hell because I'm not preaching against homosexuals, rest assured that I have the same concerns about your soul.
One woulda thought you'd be up in arms and all over the place against other sins that your religion also condemns. You know, calling the perpetrators out and preaching to them all the time. You sly justifier of sins that favor him.
Instead what I see you say sometimes about stuff that's obviously condemned in your bible leaves me
Was it not you the other day that told me being faithful is unnatural even though God clearly commands you to? Na you comes sabi pass God that day? Maybe you didn't stop to think that homos too may be having a hard time obeying:keeping the law as their urge comes to them naturally? If we are to follow your logic.
Orisirisi nairaland true Christians. Adopt any stand that suits you at the moment.
5minsmadness: And I am now a nairaland tenant that I'll be here all the time to scrutinise all the threads? It was you who drew my attention to this thread and I responded appropriately! So any thread thst comes out now I have a prerogative to be there before you? You go pay me?
Madam your religion tells you to stand up for your faith. To tell as many people as possible about the good news! To preach to those who are lost and according to your religion's definition, homosexuals are LOST!
JESUS said u shouldn't be ashamed of Him in front of men.... Preach what you believe in and stop using koro/side road to avoid the moral implications of what homosexuality is as interpreted by YOUR religion!
ronald4lif: Okay, you've known this neighbours for 3years meaning they have been married and cohabitating for at least 3years. During this durance there was never a time the man accused his wife of stealing, at least not to your knowledge, right?. If yes then I'd say the mother must have been the one who stole the money to fan the embers of hatred and malice from her son to the wife.
Questions the man would have pondered on, bearing in mind that his mum has never been pleased with his choice of wife was how come the money disappeared just when the mum visited?. Why didn't money disappear through out their living together?.
The man made a hasty conclusion and his mum must have had so much animosity towards his wife to be cheering him while he was on the physical assault. Her action was despicable of a mother and would have been a red flag for me if I were the man. I'd have known something was amiss.
So, first you said it was a "denial of rights", and I asked which right eactly? From where? And are there other rights where that came from? Then it was an "Inequality", I queried how it was "unequal" and what we were supposed to be making equal and for whom? Then you said it was "injustice", to which I responded, which injustice exactly ?
No replies to any of the questions, a deft skirting of the obvious issues, and a limited focus on what are no more than platitudes. Now you introduce the notion of "unfair"
Coco c'mon. So anyone protesting - with placards - has a de facto case of discrimination against them? Or are obviously being treated unfairly? Like the women who protested plans to outlaw traveling to Europe for prostitution?
There are brother and sister couples who consider their inability to marry "unfair", likewise some "animal lovers". So anyone who feels "unfairly treated" or "hard done by" has an inherent case for a legal remedy?
Which conditions are imposed on gay people or anyone whose relationship does not qualify as marriage? Asking for marriage is asking for conditions to be imposed upon you
No. And a simplistic and reductionist approach in order to ride roughshod over the obvious arguments does not make it so.
So allowing people to choose polygamy and call it marriage can force you to be part of a polygamous relationship? Really? Because you are forced to stay married, or forced to take more husbands, or your husband forced to take more wives?
And denying polygamist the right to their choices, due to erroneous and unfair supposition that allowing them that right to their choices, may affect you, is not unfair? When you married in Nigeria, did you for one moment think polygamy being legal would affect your union?
You haven't distinguished, just drawn an odd comparision.
All good. I thought this philosophy may bring some new and deep insight. Enough. And I won't even bother to discuss this from a scriptural perspective, not least because of what the notions you've introduced imply - I simply cannot see how they can be reconciled with the bible.
Pls why should I say the same about gay people?is a gay person sexually abusing any child? Apart from being a sin in my religion which I'm not dumb enough to feel like everyone should be subjected to, is there a reason why someone dating who he wants to date in a Mutual relationship be compared to an adult raping his fellow adults and sexually abusing kids?
Smh.
Your discussion got across to me? Last I checked your grouse should be with the law makers who despite your protests won't outlaw gay marriage. If only this "headway" you're making by disturbing my moniker anytime gay marriage is mentioned will help you achieve your aim of segregating against gay people.
Unfortunately, it won't.
If I were you I'd be concerned about my roof coming down on my head than the rat running in my neighbor's yard. I expect to see outrage and the righteous indignation you're used to expressing on gay threads when topics like this come up. Not the one I call you out before you come to pay lip service.
5minsmadness: Hehhehehheehee I am glad our discussion got across to you so much. At least we are making headway.
Do you see me supporting the man's actions? Do you see me campaigning for his rights or supporting what he did all in the name of 'live and let live? ' In fact so far have you seen anyone here, male or female, defending his actions in any way? Does that sound like silence to you?
What he did was deplorable, disgusting and utterly bad! Left to me he would be made to serve a life sentence with a monthly whipping of his testicles! I am TOTALLY against this action and if he appeared in my court goodness knows I will have no mercy!
Now can you say the above about homosexuality? Can you make a stand either for or against and not be a perrenial fence-sitter?
Btw, pls don't go on just friut diet, it will weaken you and give you little strength that you need for the exercise. instead eat a lot of green and protein And less carb. Your weight loss will focus on fat loss and give you more muscle mass. make sure you get 1 tape and weight to measure up and see changes. it's all about feeling good. I no wan see you looking sick and weak and ready to lash out on people because of lack of energy we got your back, if anybody find your trouble just call me or class monitor
OShepherd: d problem now is dat d guy's old girlfrnd has shown up ( a direct opposite of dis Lady in question) after 5yrs & even ready 2 marry my guy sinz dey lost contact & U no wen d desirable bcoms d unavailable, d available bcoms d desirable!. I smell wahala o!
You're not even serious. Mtchew
I was going to say the lady did very bad by not representing herself for who she was thereby making you marry her under false pretext. As the level of her education is something that can affect the marriage tomorrow and she owed it to you to tell you the truth about that.
Now it seems you're only changing your mind because an ex came into the picture. Long sigh....
1toRtoiSe1: and what do you think will happen to the millions of ibos in kano alone talkless of the entire north?
Suya tinz.
See person with hate-filled heart is about to teach me how to be a true believer too. I've suffered.
Nairaland wonders. Shey you will be happy when your fellow human beings are made into suya.
Will you eat them too?
This your post does not ring as abomination to your ears but giving people equal social rights and respect, regardless of gender or sexual preferences is what sounds like abomination to you.
Wasn't that thesame thing people said about same-sex marriage till it got legalised?
I think you and cococandy need to let us know what religion you practice or if you don't practice at all, cos the both of you are always supporting feminism, gay and everything abomination.
My dear contribute to the thread if you will and leave my religion or lack of it out of your posts.
You don't know your bible is against tattoos? But you're flaunting yours boldly and telling your God to go fvck off in public with your actions.
