irumole1975: The stew is inside the bag. They pack stew in that bag. If you want meat , be ready to pay about $50. Minimum wage is $10 depending on States Sha. Some states pay $12, $14 when are you going back to Nigeria? |

Kobojunkie: Wow... so.... upon day poverty dey, dem call they sell money on top. Here's a stupid question for you. Does the government know about this? Yes the government knows. My sis says in some parts of delta they tried to help them out by letting them withdraw no more than 20k/day so that they have something to hold. But pretty much a few other states and areas are still stuck in the cashless rut. The government won’t do a thing |

sukkot: i strongly disagree. The USA has healthier foods if you are willing to shop at trader joes and whole foods and even Dominics. Just don’t go too cheap cuz then you are buying inferior quality. The UK has a lesser quality of food when compared to whole foods and trader joes in the USA. But of course a better quality than cheaper foods in the USA. But ermmm I am in Nigeria bro. Suffering like a refugee. No naira no fuel. Na garri levels we dey Trader Joe’s is one of my favorites and I don’t think they are expensive actually. Their prices have stayed pretty much the same even through the inflation And then of course Costco. |

Kobojunkie: What does that mean?, Because of scarcity of the new Naira note, if you want to withdraw cash, you pay money to get your own money. So to withdraw 10 thousand Naira, you pay 3 thousand meaning you’re technically left with 7 thousand. And it increases exponentially like that. So they are having to do cashless transactions where possible. |

Kobojunkie: To add, majority of the foods come as donations from many of the same big brand grocery stores these folks frequent - Wholefoods, Tradewinds, Target, JewelsOsco, etc. So, you can imagine how ridiculous one would have to be to label them foods not meant for reasonable people.
Brands that donate to Feeding America 💯 |

1stGenAmerican: Suffering and smiling. Saying food from a food pantry isn’t up to par but remember when palliatives were supposed to be given out in Naija during lockdown? Food pantries exist for a reason and no White, Asian, Black, or Mexicans are ashamed to take food from them but these Nigerians in this thread are too posh for that I reckon. You’re absolutely spot on Cc Irumole1975. Just a quick google search of what is available in my area (I’m not in Miami. This is google just doing it’s thing). I wouldn’t call these items food for unreasonable people. What do you think?

I don’t understand why people would rather go hungry than to take the help that is there waiting. I assume it’s the same reason some people rag on ‘menial jobs’ and don’t see dignity in honest labor while condoning those committing fraud. . Amen. Same to you sis |

1stGenAmerican: Suffering and smiling. Saying food from a food pantry isn’t up to par but remember when palliatives were supposed to be given out in Naija during lockdown? Maybe he thinks the food pantry is a trash bin. I buy good food and take to the pantry in my area. No left overs. Good food that me and my family will eat. They don’t accept anything open, used, expired or if fresh items must be visible up to par. Why wouldn’t anyone eat from it? |

irumole1975: Stop playing this card. Are these places meant for a reasonable human being? Can you get your desired food in food bank? Nigerians and eating shit so far it comes from abroad I’m not sure who you think you’re talking to. Wrong person. I’m just explaining to the person they don’t need to despair if they are financially unable to afford food at the moment. So when you say stop playing this card, you’re assuming that you have seen more many times asking them to go to the dollar store. And you know what? If they did, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Food is food. Some are just more expensive than others. |

brain54: But in my opinion…
It’s food is still expensive though compared to Nigeria.
At between $8/15 do the maths/conversion to #!
But I guess they earn more. But I think food should be one of the cheapest things to get especially in a country like the U.S where technology and stuff should play a big role in agriculture… There are ways to eat cheap if you don’t have the means. Food banks, dollar stores, |

Ijaya06: Calm down. I'm not abusing America. I was only talking about the food I ate. I know you guys are like this whenever anyone post things like this. If I had said I bought this food for $1.99 , you'd have agreed me. But then, I didn't buy it for $1.99
You people reek of inferiority complex. Your ilks will soon litter this thread. Let's wait for them in 1,2,3 This was just an unnecessary lie. And then to go ahead and insult 1st Gen for asking you to be honest was the height of it Everyone knows how take out works. This rice is the side dish actually. The main dish would have been the beef or chicken that came with it. This looks like Indian take out so the curry would have been the main meal with a side of rice or naan. Then add fees and taxes. And then a separate delivery fees. Tips for the driver. Sometimes DoorDash and Uber eats charge more than the store sells it for that’s in addition to all their other charges. So yes one can see how you paid $25 for it. But the $25 wasn’t just for a scoop of plain white basmati rice. Stop lying |

Early 30s here. Not surprising at all. I’ve known for over a decade now that it will take around 200 years before Nigeria begins to function at a level expected from a country in the current century. Corruption is worldwide but impunity is something we are most skilled at. There’s absolutely no fear of repercussions by anyone in authority. And the average citizen will rather side with a bad leader than give a chance to someone who doesn’t belong to their group. It’s going to be a while BigSarah: It seems those of us in our early twenties are shocked, most people I talk to in their forties and thirties are not surprised.
With Inec breaking its own laws, and the evil way the election was rigged.
I've always known Nigeria was a ridiculous place, but this election was something else, I've gotten to know my country better. |
