Who's a Medical student wannabe? I mention with all form of Pride. I am proud of Veterinary and would always be. I say Always Veterinary student. I am proud of Veterinary when we have somebody like Professor Oyewale Tomori. Africa Renowned Virologist and Somebody like Dr Bala Muhammed the owner of blue blood Vet and Tropical Medicine expert. I am proud of Veterinary because every nation needs a Veterinarian. I am proud because we don't beg for independence. We are independent.
I am proud of what "Talk to a Veterinarian " on Nairaland is doing. We don't need to fight with NMA for recognition, we're recognised.
I am proud that a Veterinary department in conjunction with FUTMINNA built Ventilators for Nigerian Army. I will always be proud of a course whose experiment of hip replacement is used for Humans with dire need of treatment.
I am proud to be in Veterinary Medicine and always will be. We have international organisations bearing the title"Veterinary". I am proud that in every force there's a need for a Veterinarian. I am proud that we in the Abbatoir doing our best to keep food healthy. I am proud we are doing life changing tests for Animal diseases and our Clients are happy.

Should I start on how your people started saying that MLS should head the Lab in the hospital. In which country? Or you people saying you're the only Licensed People to register a Laboratory premise or that US offers Doctor in Medical Laboratory Science? Should I start with how you people claim that without you people are the Oracle of Medicine? Should I start with how you people want a Post graduate college. Or how you people call yourself Haematologist, Histopathologist, Chemical Pathologist? Should I also start with how jobless the course is? Or How you people claim you have the right of Diagnosis? Guy don't push me at all you won't like it. Don't let me tutor you a graduate on things you should know.

“Radiology department” and “pathology department” are not inpatient units. Your question comes from a place of not even understanding the structure I’m talking about. Because you “saw nurses head the units” and you didn’t wait to understand, you thought it means nurses are in charge of doctors so you ended up misunderstanding yourself all over the thread.

Here, radiology or pathology are not called units.
What we call units are areas of different types of care where patients are admitted based on the illness they have. The patients basically live there until they get better. The units are

Labor and delivery unit
Medical/surgical unit
Orthopedic surgery unit
Cardiac/telemetry unit
Neuroscience unit
Intensive care unit
Oncology unit
Emergency room etc

All these are headed by nurse managers. Because nurses work them.

Inpatient? Yes you showed specificity and I applaud. I was rather harsh. Thanks for the enlightenment. We all know what "Inpatient" and "outpatient" is yunno. So you're telling me that Blood tests, X-ray, Biopsies and other things when an hospitalised person goes through, a Nurse head the unit ?

Actually it goes through the particular staff nurse who is caring for the patient. The staff nurse organizes all the lab tests, imaging, procedures and coordinates the care between all the health disciplines. The doctor/s will come in and read the results during their rounds. If necessary they will place orders for the treatment they recommend for the patient and then they leave for their other doctorly duties . They can be paged for urgent situations or for new recommendations if needed.

It’s then the nurses who stay on the unit to make sure everything goes well. And that usually involves being a liaison between all the disciplines (respiratory, lab, dietary, physical/occupational therapy,
specialty medicine, etc) to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to do for the patient .

All abnormal tests and imaging results are first called to the staff nurse. She will be the one to assess if it is something she can treat within her scope of practice or if it requires a doctor’s/emergency intervention.

Depending on the facility type and acuity of the unit, the staff nurse might even have more clinical privileges.

The nurse manager (unit head) however does higher administrative functions like making sure the unit budget is well utilized, quality improvement, hiring/firing of nursing staff etc

And then there’s the charge nurse. Long story for another day. Basically she runs the unit per shift. Whereas the nurse manager is the permanent unit head who doesn’t usually work at the bedside. The charge nurse can work at the bedside while being in charge of the other nurses and assisting staff who are working the same shift with her. (Or him).

Rain doesn't fall that much in CA yet the farm and produce food that are sold to other countries...oh goodness!!
I read after the war and great depression, the govt here brought scientists, farmers etc together for ideas to never experience such again.
Today there are varieties of everything - 1 horn goat, 2 horns goat, 3months cows, 2days old chicken. 3months, 6months, etc
1month corns, red rice, brown, black, bazmati, rexmati, mosmati, texnati, million types of beans, etc all ready for your pots

Little things like these are inconsequential. People focus on the wrong things all the time. Women who have problems with little things like this often miss when bigger issues that can actually affect them and their future come up. Because they are focused on pictures, who seats in the front seat, who dished food from their pot, petty things etc, they miss important things.
