Christianity Etc › Re: Devout Muslims Only by cococandy(op):
You have good points.

However, The purpose of this exercise is to also get the subjective interpretation of Muslims. So, varying interpretations were welcome from the beginning. I wasn’t setting out to only understand what Allah and Muhammad teach but also how the followers have understood those teachings and how it affects their lives in those specific categories I listed.

There’s definitely a whole lot to unpack in understanding any religion but this thread is limited and specific in what it’s looking for.

Thanks

Martinez39s:
@Cococandy

I hope I am not late to the party. When it comes to understanding a religion, it's best to read the holy book by yourself. While it superficially makes sense to consult the self-proclaimed adherents of the religion, you should have it in mind that each adherent has his/her own "interpretation" of the Qur'an. The "interpretation" a moderate Muslim born and bred in a secular society will give you will differ from that of a Muslim born and bred in an Islamic society. Some "interpretations" paint Islam as a religion of piece while others do the opposite. To avoid being misled by any Muslim's personal interpretation, I will advise you to do your own research and read the holy book for yourself. Your research should focus on the history of Islam, its Prophet, and holy book; find out what scholars think.

A lot of muslims come about their interpretations in any of the following ways:
1) ignorance and presumption of the Qur'an due not having read it or blatant honesty,
2) cherry picking (picking the good parts only), and/or
3) complete understanding and submission to the entire doctrine and scriptural injunctions of the Qur'an.

This is also applicable to Christians. grin

Regardless of how any Muslim came about his/her own "interpretations", it's best to do your own research and read the Qur'an by yourself and formulate your independent thoughts on the matter.

Nb: I am an atheist. I am encouraging the best approach of inquiry.

“Just rice here and there” adds up.
Plus imagine the living and sleeping arrangements in one room and parlor. I wouldn’t want to be that uncomfortable in my house. Especially during a holiday when you would like to relax with your immediate family and enjoy the season. If it was a family compound house with many rooms and someone who can afford to cater for them, it would be different.

RedPanthar:
Lol. You fell for it. It's just trapping to make the wife look like a villain. It's just some days. It's just rice here and there and they are gone.

You should encourage him to be loving and more accommodating and that it won't last beyond a few days.

Why are you invalidating his feelings? I mean here's a person who's constantly trying to get under the skin of another person using any means possible, even their child. Why do you feel this isn't worthy of a complaint?
And all of us women are to blame for that one person’s actions undecided?

Isn’t it amazing when a man does stuff it’s the man’s act. Or at worst blamers will accuse his tribe, or country of origin as the reason why it happened. But when one woman does something, it’s “feAr womeN” “vAgiNa pEOple” bla bla bla. All of us women have to stand trial all the time for the actions of every single woman. I’m invalidating his ‘valid’ feelings of anger at all women for the actions of his one wife?

His issue is worthy of complaint. He shouldn’t drag all women into it.

Remember you-know-who broke my ninja food processor angry grin. So I thought that I might as well use the opportunity to go for something I really admire. I’ll just have to buy the main mixer and then follow with the attachments one at a time.

That's not fair. It must come with a mixer, pasta maker is separate attachment.

Kenwood come with different attachments too and very expensive but some of them are what food processor can do.
See, if u have a very good food processor, then u don't need the attachments. Or, u buy them one at a time. Before you know it, u have bought all you need. Kenwood is British. I'm so shocked. Can anything good really come out of Nazareth grin.

Hell no! For now anyway grin

Seems like we will be vaccinated in 2 weeks time. Everybody just dey mad. :DUseless frontline rubbish.

Oh, I don't mean kitchen aid product. Sorry.
Just everything kitchen.
I wanted to buy kitchenaid stand mixer but Kenwood won tongue. Kitchenaid stand mixers are superb.
Buy from official kitchenaid and u will get some of them free. Like the one I bought, other sites will make you buy the blender or food processor or even one or two other follow come attachments. That's how they make their money.
Used that as my Xmas present. Have been day dreaming about this particular one, cooking chef. Wanted to get the last one but noticed around october Kenwood stopped producing it and later released updated version Sept.
what’s the specific one you’re looking now?

I’m more interested in the attachments that can be coupled with the mixer for additional functions. the kitchen aid official website has all those attachments selling separately from the stand mixer itself. Maybe you lucked out big time or they just hate us over here? Like the pasta maker, veggie slicer etc. $100,$80,$130 etc. by the time you buy all the ones you want to have in addition to the mixer itself it becomes quite pricey. I definitely want the mixer and the pasta maker to start with.

I’ve never seen kenwood in my stores here though. When I go I’ll see if I can find it and compare to kitchen aid.

I follow dooney on insta and she speaks highly of them (kenwood). I went to their website, couldn’t even find a price list or option to add to cart. I don’t think it’s an American company is it?

If I see any store that will give me the kitchenaid attachments for free, I die there grin. Moving in with them.

Kitchen gadgets from your side is very expensive here.
And I have noticed that any kitchen gadget I have interest in is always made in USA. Very few from EU countries like France or Germany.
Here na rubbish dem dey make if they will make at all. Shipping rip off.

If not that I hated China way back, I will port to China.
How are u guys?
Lol. Sorry dear. They are expensive here too. Just close eye and invest in the one you want and forget about buying any for a few years at least.

This is the kitchenaid mixer I’m buying next. Maybe another color. It depends. I Just don’t want to order ot online because I want to touch it before I buy it. Only downside is that each additional attachment costs around $100 to add. But it does amazing stuff from what I’ve seen.

We are very fine. Are you getting the vaccine?

A lot of businesses on the Island are money laundering spots. The babe of a popular musician lives on my street. She has a business in the premises but the gate never opens, one would wonder what they sell and when they sell it- but they claim to be into interior decoration and luxury furnishing.

Clubs, interior decoration, luxury car shops, jewelry shops...etc, these are their major businesses. No foot traffic in their stores but they pay rents in millions.

Some of these actresses are not even oloshos as we think. Some are tools for criminals. They are the face of the business, while the UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner) is a politician or Hushpuppy.

sonnie10:
Equity and feminism has never been about contesting superiority between a wife and husband.
A woman has her role in a family and the man has his too. It has alway been so both in our traditional setting and egalitarian society.
Only the misguided ones would think otherwise.
When a clear definition of equality and feminism is not understood, confusion about what does and does not represent those issues become prevalent.
Equity has more to do with systemic problems than micro family dynamics.
Anyone that wants to contest position of authority with their husband should give it a different name but surely not equity or feminism.

You stated on the premise that in a family setting, there are no traditional roles for husband and wife. Based on that, we would always have variants in opinion.
It’s easy to pick and choose what roles we want to play depending on what favors us at the moment isn’t it?
Crime › Re: Ben Okigbo: Nigerian Doctor Shoots His Wife Dead & Commits Suicide In America by cococandy(f): 1:28am On Dec 21, 2020
Now imagine in myriads of situations all over the world where the wife has to cut back her income bringing hours in order to take care of the home. Because she’s the woman of course.

How many of those women have killed their husbands because he didn’t let her dictate how the money is spent? Don’t you people encourage her to be satisfied with whatever he can provide. He’s a good husband for even trying. Why is this same consideration not extended to women?

Y’all can’t take half of what you dish and that’s why you get frustrated. Equality can be frustrating for those who have never had to consider the wellbeing of others.

sonnie10:
One common issue spouse have when the wife is a nurse is time management. Running the home and work schedule.
It comes down to maintaining a balance between. I will go further to give some details of most prevalent scenario.
As a nurse in the US, you are able to afford most luxury; any car, house, clothing, vacation and jewelries but you must put in the time for work.

If you work one regular 40hours a week job, you might not be that financially ok when you consider bills.

Now, here is where the common problem is, nurses are well sort after and the opportunity to work extra jobs are plenty. The downside is that it takes away family time and wifely responsibilities. Most husbands do not want that but the greed for dollars and the good things the wives can get with it blocks any form compromise with the husband. The common rebuttal is usually; are you not the man? Why don’t you provide those things then? Me that I want to try why are you stopping me? Imagine what happens in a home where the wife works 16hour at two jobs and only comes home to sleep when the husband is probably away at his own job.

Let me tell you this, a nurse that works only 40 hours a week can never comfortably afford a Land Rover valor or Lexus Gx or Mercedes glc, it’s impossible. So how is it that most of the nurses drive these cars?

They drive it because they work more and family responsibility is neglected. In the US, if you have young kids at school, your life and time is almost sacrificed for them.

Someone has to be there to get them ready, to drop them off at school and pick them up after school. Obviously, if the wife is a “hard working nurse” she can’t. The man has to pick up this extra responsibility and cut down his time for work; meaning less money for the man and more more for the wife. That is the correlation.

So, the result is that the wife is more financially buoyant than the man. It then comes a time when the wife wants to pay house rent for her brother in Nigeria who lives in lekki and had recently lost his job but the husband says no, she can’t.
Who gives him the right to decide what she can and cannot do with her hard earned money? Forgetting that he also made the sacrifices for her to be available to go to that work. The truth is that anyone can do two jobs in the US. ( Go check the families that both husband and wife work two full time jobs, their children are always in trouble)
Ideally, this is not how it is judged by external advisers and even the wife themselves.

The judgement is usually this way; you are the man, why can’t you provide for your family, why let your wife suffer to work and you want to control her. The statement has sent many men to early grave This is bringing a man to the lowest of low. A man that has sacrificed his time, job, pride and almost everything hoping for a better family.
