Sis!!! I saw one that would always say it is a waste of resources paying bride price for non-virgin Nigerian females on a thread, he was seriously defending the exorbitant marriage list in South East. In his words “Igbo girls are gold and men from other regions should leave them alone”.

They don’t know whether to wax misogynistic or tribalistic. Must be a hard life grin grin grin
pocohantas:
He made sense here. The only people angry he didn’t chase his wife (Lola) and stick to Psq are;

1)Red pillers- these ones are angry a man LOVES his wife.

2)Tribal warlords- These ones are angry the said wife is Yoruba.

The confused people in this whole drama would be Yoruba redpillers. They really want to uphold the bro-code, but their sister’s happiness is at stake here. So, for the Oduduwa people, they will pick Lola over the brotherhood.

I have seen guys who call NIGERIAN girls olosho, turn Voltron when you say IGBO girls are oloshos. It is really easy to get rational responses from Nigerians. Just throw in a little of everything; religion, gender and tribe- sit back and relass.

Allow MrP be. cheesy

I’m so sorry dear. E-hugs
itoroakban:
I'm logging into Nairaland for the first time in 3 years to reply to this post, because this one hits close to home, my mother had an hemorragic stroke in early September, and it's by the Grace of Google that she survived.

Mum's stroke occurred on the morning of September 6, she suddenly started complaining of intense headache, and for the first 10 minutes my younger sister and I were confused not knowing what to do. It was only after quickly googling for the cause of sudden intense headache that I saw that 'Thunderclap Headaches' were one of the major symptoms of Hemorragic Stroke.

We rushed her to a nearby hospital, where they checked her bp and found it was 190 over something (can't really remember the specific figure). She was in a coma for 3 days, then in a minimally conscious state for 2+ weeks where she was conscious but couldn't move any part of her body.

She started recovering in early October, and Physically she's now fully recovered, but memory wise, my heart breaks every day. The stroke led to my wonderful, funny, witty, joke-telling mother losing a major portion of her memories prior to the Stroke, and completely losing the ability to form new memories. She can cook, do things around the house, and hold a basic conversation, but whatever she does in the morning, she forgets by evening, and during the evenings her condition worsens. She wakes up after an afternoon nap thinking it's early in thr morning, brushes more than 4 times a day because she's forgotten that she has already brushed, and lots of other minor heart-wrenching issues.

And to be honest, all this is my fault. After mum was diagnosed of high blood pressure in 2018, I should have bought a bp checking machine for her to use in checking her bp every morning, so as to know whether or not to take a blood pressure reducing drug, but foolishly the thought never crossed my mind.

So I'm begging everyone who reads this, please and please, PLEASE, don't be as stupid as I was, if a loved one has high blood pressure, please either get a bp machine for her to check her blood pressure every morning and ask a pharmacist/doctor for bp medications she can be taking regularly, or at the very least take her to a nearby pharmacy every week to check her bp. If you're too busy, beg someone close to you to be doing it. Because if the loved one gets a Hemorragic stroke in Nigeria today, whether she recovers or not, you've lost her.

It's been more than 3 months, and I consider myself a very strong hearted person, but every 2 or 3 days, I look at mum, and I break down in tears.

1) You’re the one talking about rape not me.

2) you don’t support domestic violence. You think my post is an exaggeration of people’s reactions when domestic violence occurs. Yet in the same response to me you say this
most of time women happen to be the instigator with their sharp mouths, brutal ingratitude, nagging and manipulative impulse to provoke by any means
. Smh. Hehehe.

3) of course I’m reading emotional meaning into your response. If you haven’t said that to a woman who disagrees with you, has your argument even started?

Martinez39s:
Lol. Stylishly engaging in the fooliśh act of exaggerating and trying to compare this case with that of rape or domestic abuse between husband and wife. While a crime remains crime, it is right to uphold due process in rape allegations for the sake of false allegation, and the same applies in allegations of domestic violence between husband and wife. Beating your husband or wife is legally wrong and the culprit should be punished, but the public will always want to know the instigator and most of time women happen to be the instigator with their sharp mouths, brutal ingratitude, nagging and manipulative impulse to provoke by any means. I don't know what you mean by "y'all" because as far as I know, I don't support rape or domestic violence. I won't shalaye any further.

What could that girl had done that could not have been punished with cane? What type of stubbornness would warrant such cruelty?

By the way, I was not attacking or dissing you with my post even though you read all sorts of emotions and meaning into it. grin I was only pulling your legs.

4) we won’t say she should have been more discrete about making her abuse known. So as not to make her situation worse.

5) we twist into unnamed shapes trying to find ways to blame everyone and everything else except the actual culprit who inflicted the harm.

You know, all the idiotic excuses and justifications y’all manage to come up with when it’s a different form of abuse.

Mr Ortom, if that was your daughter beaten and abused like an animal, would you still be pushing for reconciliation? Look at her face for Christ sake!
As a governor, part of your role is to uphold the law of the federal republic Of Nigeria but your actions on this day led to the subversion of Justice to the victim of domestic assault. It’s not the first or second time she’s been brutalized but it’s the first time she’s coming out publicly. Rather than help her and protect her and her tender children, we pushed them back to the abuser.

It is heartbreaking that the earliest memories of those children would be seeing their mother beaten like an animal! Tell me how those children would become functional and stable adults?

Shame on everyone that’s a party to this travesty!!

Mr Ortom’s daughter will most likely end up in countries where such abuse will earn you sever punishment. She’ll likely end up in a society where she’ll flourish and be protected by the law. Rather than building same for our women, this man is publicly Reconciling a serial abuser and his victims (victims because of the abuse also impacts the children)

I have never looked forward to her assisting me financially and I am not accusing her of extramarital affairs . I feel bad being so disrespectful and not being caring for our home. There are many things I am unable to write because its like writing a book. Maybe if you think of how it feels when you dedicate yourself to someone then do everything to make that person happy and that person does not care and is only self centred then you will understand how painful it feels.
Seven years I have done all a man needs to do to try and build a peaceful and decent home, there are good times when we just overlook things and be happy and then that attitude just comes alive again from no where and all I get is trouble upon trouble again. Some days I can hardly even eat at home and in seven years, I can only remember hearing "am sorry" just twice apart from when I try to just ignore certain things and she just give me all those sober reactions.
I really don't know how to explain but I believe some married men here will understand better because its like most comments I see are from people that are not married and don't understand what dedicating your life to someone you once loved so much means.

More like pressured into reconciliation. She didn’t even look happy. What woman will say NO to the governor’s efforts at reconciliation? Without risking the whole world calling her a bad woman. The man didn’t deny her allegations so he’s obviously guilty and she wasn’t lying against him. ( that’s the part I was waiting to hear before giving my opinion).

It’s Easy to froth at the mouth dictating to her what she should have done or not done. Personally I commend her for coming forward. And I don’t judge her for agreeing to reconcile at this time. Being an onlooker, I don’t recommend it. But that’s from the safety of my home. If it was actually happening to me, would I be brave enough to say no the governor?

I’m human and I know what it would feel like to have the whole family on both sides, the general public and state government ask you to forgive. Saying no would require unprecedented bravery. Let’s pretend like we are all brave like that. Like we have all of life figured out.

It’s a woman sha. So there must be something wrong with her actions.
If she kept quiet and died, she caused her own death.
If she divorced him quietly, she wasn’t able hold down a marriage. Woe be unto her.
We don’t know how many times she’s cried in private to family and nothing came of it. Most likely more than once.

Now that she cried in public she is terrible for wanting to jeopardize his job as a journalist. We place His job and reputation over her life. We are more concerned about “what if he got fired? What will she gain? What will benefit her if he loses his job?” Forgetting that a trapped animal lashes out and she probably reacted how best she knew how considering that other methods may not have helped her in the past.

How about what if she died? Imagine sitting on someone’s pregnant belly and again after a major surgery.(he didn’t deny it). And what people are more concerned about is how she chose to talk about it.

This life sha cool

God, over to you sir.

Exactly. With the governor stepping in, she will feel pressured to forgive so that she won’t be labeled a bad woman. She will also feel bad about speaking up again if he ever abuses her. This is more of intimidation in my opinion. I hope he truly changes.

Saccharine:
See the face of the person that has reconciled, does it look genuine or happy? See her body language pulling away from the man with her eyes downcast.

Both of them are not happy, why force them to continue all the unhappiness.

Is the governor a therapist?

This is how women become trapped within abusers under the name of settling they pile on pressure and guilt her into remaining in a situation where she will literally collect beatings day in and out.

This woman has been effectively silenced and no matter the amount of beatings, may never have the guts to come out in public again to defend herself.

Same with the wives of Duncan Mighty, Femi Fani Kayode, same tactic, they get beaten up,expose their men, get pressured to remain, get beaten up again and then the men come out to the media to claim infidelity.

Both of them should name the child. But if it comes down to only one of them, then the mom should do it. That my personal opinion. I can’t imagine going through the rigors of pregnancy for someone to tell me I can’t name my own child. We dey joke for here?

But in your aunty’s case, I support her husband. What type of name is freedom? In fact let the most sensible person name the child. Freedom ko. undecided

Hahahaha, she's just a bitch well known inda hood.

So we are not surprised this is happening.

If there's anybody that should be off the social.media it's her as she has a whole lot of baggages.
No one actually cares about your opinion. Seems like you don’t understand that yet.

The only issue that matters here is if it’s true what she’s accusing him of. Or whether she’s lying against him. Either way justice need to be served . Either against him for domestic violence or against her for malicious character assassination and false accusations. Because if she’s lying then it’s also a serious case against her.

Anything else from you or anyone else is not needed.

I don’t doubt that you know about her. But I’m quite sure you do not know her. As long as you’re not living in the same house with her, you don’t know her. That’s how life works.

Your likes are those who get information about people like where they are from, where they went to a school etc and suddenly you’re professors in those people’s personal lives. Even if so called people may not have spoken to you in years (that’s if they ever even did).

And you’re usually waiting for opportunity to come and rant online about such persons. I doubt your name even rings a bell in her head but look at you on nairaland jumping from thread to thread fronting as per who knows her. Is that a status symbol or something? Should we give you an award?

For someone who is “not your type”, she sure is living rent free in your head. You’ve managed to talk about her parents; her wedding to which your were invited but didn’t go because you were outside the country at the time grin; her secondary school; how your family is balling hard. All sorts of irrelevant nonsense that no one asked you.

Oga you want doctorate degree certificate on her matter? I mean if you’ve been this interested in her case since she was a child in secondary school, you’ve qualified for a doctorate in studies of her. Congratulations are in order then. You’ve achieved something.

Petty nonsense is what it is. Be better .
