Seun: I want to thank everyone who responded to this thread. I benefitted from your responses. Shadow died at night on the 6th of June.
During the night of the day I wrote this thread (Friday 2nd), the dog summoned the will power to get up and relieve himself. But that was the last time he ever walked. He had developed the most massive testicle infection that you could imagine. His legs were kind of dried up and limp. The hind legs were kind of black. Vet suggested atrophy but with the orchitis I figured it was some sort of infection. But his core was still strong
On Sunday 4th, he started making efforts to get up to relieve himself. Heartbreaking efforts. I could only clean him after he pissed/shit on himself. He was so weak that he couldn't bark but he made the most heartbreaking sounds. I broke. I asked my vet if he had an assistant who could help me take the dog to a clinic. He said no, that I should get a taxi. A dog that was messy. I did my ugly crying. 2nd time over a dog.
I resolved I'll just continue to take care of him with what I knew. He had stopped eating chicken so on Monday I just force fed him custard and gave him the same medications. Changed from vet-prescribed amoxicillin which clearly wasn't working. (Btw amoxicillin is trash.)
But by Monday the 5th, he started aggressively resisting my efforts to feed & pill him. He clenched his teeth so tight. I figured I would respect his decision. If he was going to die, I didn't need to make his last moments a struggle. I would give him peace. I started researching how I could take him out myself without causing any pain. I also wasn't going to let him go out struggling and fighting the vet and me the way Sloane went out.
So on Wednesday the 6th all I did was clean him up. There was food/water but he didn't eat/drink and I didn't force him. I noticed he started shivering & had some nasal discharge. I guessed that the infection was spreading. All I could do was pet him and apologize. I was already in bed that night when he started to breath heavily, then stopped. Then I heard farting sounds. When I woke up the next morning, he was gone.
If I ever have a dog again, it would be a tiny Papillon dog, and I will form a relationship with a vet clinic which has the capacity to conduct tests and base their treatments on the results of those tests. I'll also ensure he gets vaccinated for parvo & distemper and everything else. There's a part of me that allowed him to go because he was too big to handle alone and aggressive to my helper. He still bit him on Saturday the 3rd. 😆 kpele, Mr seun. |

grandstar: I have to be frank with you, I don't understand what you're saying.
Removal of the fuel subsidy and merging of the exchange rates were extremely urgent and should have been carried out years ago.
If you're supporting the multiple exchange rate policy of the Buhari govt, then you're supporting the briefcase millionaires you whine about.
In which space will a well connected renter briefcase businessman make money: where the official exchange rate is 461 and black market 750 or the present one where the official rate is 745 and black market 750?
Rountripping (buying forex at the official rate and selling at the BDC or black market rste) flourished under Buhari because of the massive differential in exchange rates. By floating the Naira, that has put an end to briefcase millionaires or even billionaires.
Also, the old exchange rate policy favored only the well connected. There was an unmet demand of $12bn under Emefiele. The airlines alone could nor repatriate $800m.
That waa not an environment conducive for business. In the past , dollars flowed to the well connected but now flows to those who can pay for it.
Secondly, the fuel subsidy simply needed to go. I have only filled my generator once since the subsidy was removed, so I know it hurts. But there was no option.
Your last few lines are appreciated. Let's see if the Tinubu can sell of the country's parastatals in a very transparent manner, free of corruption. Multiple exchange rate is ambiguous in the sense that all forex demands are not for productive uses. Some are just for pilgrimage. Others for fake hairs. Why should a farmer trying produce food compete with hair importer or religious adventurer? |

bjdon: It does not matter if they are 2% or .02%. Their actions were bankrupting the country. Have you not seen the massive amounts that were being spent on so called subsidy? Do you not also realize that it's due the corruption with petrol subsidy that none of our refineries were working. For your information there are cartels all over the world. In the US it's the arms and weapons history(Otherwise known as the military industrial complex). With the subsidy gone, local refining will now take off (BUA, Dangote, others) and eventually the cost of PMS will come down due to competion. The nation will also save MASSIVE amounts of FX which will help the exchange rate. I will agree though, that the govt should very quickly provide relief to the masses you know not what you are talking. What's the difference if Dangote, BUA refine and sell to the govt at same or almost same prices the Indian and Singaporean refiners sell to govt? If subsidy must go for refiners to start refining for an end product that's used extensively across the globe, then that shows the corruption is just about to begin. Subsidy fraud is largely if not wholly between marketter and the subsidizers - FG. |

grandstar: This professor is giving a text book answer to treat the severe economic mess Buhari left behind.
You go the slow and gentle route, you'll simply embolden those against reforms to frustrate things, especially when the president eyes re-election.
Shock therapy is the best. Get everything over and done with quickly. Already, two of the most painful reforms have been carried out: removal of petrol subsidies and unification of the exchange rates.
More deregulation in prices are needed in the telecom and power sector. If those in these sectors can't recoup costs, they won't reinvestment. Government setting of rates there isn't the best but I can understand the GSM carriers have oligopolistic power and may abuse it and use it to fix prices illegally.
Cutting down the size of the civil service may prove politically risky now as it may push them and their sympathizers into voting for the opposition in 2027. The best they can do now is simply to prune it. APC man I hail o. Reforms go beyond giving weighty and broad orders. Concrete moves are needed to inspire action from the masses. Government is largely of and by the masses. It is in the interest of all for the govt to be serious and provide truly condusive conditions for production. Not just some big men looking to dominate the society and so form briefcase companies to buy key national assets they cannot maintain nor run effectively with public money. |

We need to generate the money internally generate more money from the system but give almost nothing back to aid the system. Isn't it better they just print their money and keep it instead of circulating it, make people work hard for it then make the working process so hard on people? |
Politics › Re: FG Increases Custom Rates For Clearing Agents by CodeTemplar: 9:51am On Jun 30, 2023 |
Multiple taxation. Once clearing agents offset the extra burden on their service cost, imported goods go up generally and the masses pay. I hope it applies to luxury and leisure things and not on machines. |

How could anyone have thought that He would prefer a Third Class graduate of philosophy who once vowed upon the incident of death if he ever left the party of his fathers? A container trader who was verbally cautioned by his acolytes to desist from citations about China, Indonesia and even Egypt economic growth and development that's rooted in equivocation and falsehood and lies. God so loves Nigerians that He so graciously gave us The Global Jagaban at this momentous time in the life of our nation. Otherwise, upstarts and chest beaters would have held sway by now, from Umuokpara to Arochukwu, stalking the land like the clay-footed God that the Long Juju is. the same man who outperformed Buhari in just one month?
