Importers and exporters quickly come to mind. Those people who usually boast of containers on high sea.

Even in Nigeria, I have stopped buying anything in traffic hold up especially in Lagos because everything is fake including food items. The only item I buy in traffic these days is bottled water and I have to make sure it is properly sealed.

Imagine plantain chips fried with a mixture of condemned palm oil and black engine oil. Is that not murder? huh
The core of your soul is hardwired to spin everything against political adversaries.

Banned seedling, deadly insecticides, deadly pesticides and poisonous organic manure are not the fault of those who export food but those farming them and the cow focused govt who leave citizens to compete with cows as well as the office loving NAFDAC.

Yes now. We use banned seedlings, insecticides, pesticides and manure containing poisolonous elements like lead a lot. Illiteracy giant of Africa.

When you hear $20B remittance, this is one of they key trades. instead of the cow-centric govt to build more medical schools and larger departments to encourage useful engagement of young minds that can bring in forex, they are leaving the system in rot and try to restrict doctors, leaving us with such forex-earning elements.

Does it mean the FG of Nigeria can't build us a refinary? Why depends on a private refinery, do the FG has share in that refinery?
Am yet to understand the jubilation about this Dangote refinery.
it is about tribal domination and exploitation. The FG is pro-northerner and Fulani so therefote value a key asset with Fulani monopoly than that they swore to maintain and run efficiently.

When dangote refinery starts working, tinubu should sell off the old refineries to private sector so as there will be competition between refineries, but my fear is that a certain business man hates competition and will do all to remain the sole refinery in Nigeria
Zeb Ejiro and Kunle afolayan will buy them and be using them for action film scenes.

When you are serious with business and the FG knows there's benefit for the government, then they will hastily render help.

But children of hate and poverty stricken people will begin to lay curse on a wealthy man and scream monopoly.
but talking deranged there. The FG left public refinery to fund and support a private one
That's tells you the FG is with the individual

Yes, they should treat Igboland equally, by being just as incompetent and lackadaisical about targeting terrorists and other criminals there as they are elsewhere. It's so unfair to the residents of the SE that policemen are actually doing their jobs in the region - they have an equal right to expect "policing" as useless as it is anywhere else in Nigeria! Won't someone think about the SE's poor kidnappers and terrorists? Don't they have a reasonable right to practice their trade in peace? This is a crucial matter of fairness, equity and justice!!
you sound stale sir.

It is about the double standard and not the fact that criminals in SE are being restricted.
Double standard is a sign of institutionalized corruption..

Tinubu is not as stupid, insensitive or stubborn as Buhari. There will be some upward movement.
Tinubu will likely be worse because we run a structure that renders competence useless and Tinubu cannot inspire integrity in the civil service because he is known to be corrupt.

Since we have favoured sharing oil windfall and buy outside of basic things as against producing enough of what we need, price increase is inevitable.
The pain here is the demons who have made production unattractive with harsh conditions.

Soldiers die in war, my friend. That is why it is called battle. It is not where kids play in sand.

Bakhmut is insignificant and of no strategic gain to Russia. But they needed the win to PEPPER the west. This isnt just a win. It is more like flushing 'Billions of dollar' invested by US, UK and the rest of war-mongers, down the toilet.

This is not just the slippers wearing, Ak-47 wielding untrained fighters US bullied in Afghanistan. We are talking Ukrainian army, the second most trained army in the world, armed with weapons, military intelligence, secret fighters from almost 24 countries. Guess what, they lost to a single Mercenary troop.

Money wasted and Confidence level reduced to -0.344.
...but do they die in SMO (special military operations)?

Nonsense!

He is the governor of the CBN, his primary job is to manage the countries economy with the monetary tools at his disposal.
He needs to be audited before leaving the office.

Also, he got involved in politics… a sitting governor of CBN is in primaries of the ruling party… how ridiculous.

For every action there must be consequences, period.
I agree he messed up with his involvement in politics but that doesn't make him a controller or controlling factor of Naira strength.

Once you don't have enough foreign reserves to protect balance of trade, your currency will fall.
Now I see why you a highly rated Nairalander. You think logically unlike some of the partisans above.

We never had enough forex to enable every tom dick and harry go out to buy what they like and when everyone rushed down to Emefiele's desk for limited, crude oil earned forex and he couldn't satisfy them all, there had to be prioritization of needs. That was when 41 items were struck off the list of forex sponsored goods at lower official rate. It was like petrol and diesel subsidy. One was subsidized and the other left to market forces of demand and supply to dictate its price. That's where Emefiele became a fierce public enemy to many. And when his election time policies rattled top shots with many footsoldiers, he became the darling of some and devil of others. I can't see any link between CBN leadership and a weakened Naira.

Politics › Is The CBN Governor Really Responsible For Weakening Of The Naira? by CodeTemplar(op):
I have read people blame Emefiele the CBN governor for the dwindling naira value but I disagree and wonder what brings about that conclusion.

My understanding of what weakens a currency is that of overall export-import differences whereby more value is lost to import than what's gained from export.
And we all know Emefiele doesn't have influence of import or export directly.

A strong example is that of bandits, farmers and the FG.
Bandits kidnap farmers, extort them and end up driving up their production cost. This makes their produce less profitable internationally and reduces inflow of crucial forex. The demand for forex is directed to CBN by farmers who need machines, equipments, inputs, or seedlings from international market thereby leading to higher demand for limited forex in the hands of CBN. This drives prices up and thus weaken the naira. In all of this, I cannot see where Emefiele is responsible for any factor affecting forex.
