Politics › Re: A Proposal For Nigeria's Political Restructuring by CodeTemplar: 10:42am On Oct 18, 2020 |
karfe: Please, find below a possible new political arrangement in the event of anticipated restructuring of the Nigerian federation
REGIONS should be Nigeria's federating units, and should be autonomous with most of the powers currently in the Exclusive list vested upon them. They should have control of resources and pay an agreed sum to the centre (FEDERATION) and the states in each region (possibly 30% for Federal, 50% for Regional and 20% for the specific State)
STATES should be retained and be below regions and used to define intra-regional revenue sharing (as suggested above). Heterogeneous regions may also choose to have States controlling resources instead of the Region
The objective is to create autonomous regions which are largely unaffected by interference from other regions, even while being accountable to the larger Nigerian state.
"Each region must be allowed to develop in accordance with its own cultural and ethno-religious mindset. The federal centre should focus mainly on national defence, foreign policy, customs and monetary economics." - Obadiah Mailafia
MAIN HIGHLIGHTS 1. Create Gurara State from Southern Kaduna State
2. Create Kaduna FT from Kaduna City and environs
3. Create Anioma State from Northern Delta State
4. Create Port Harcourt FT from Northern Rivers State
5. Convert Lagos State to a FT
6. Combine Yoruba parts of Kwara and Kogi States into a New Kwara State
7. Transfer non-Yoruba parts of Kwara State to Niger State
8. Transfer certain defined southern parts of Kebbi, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and Borno State to the new autonomous Middle Belt Region
9. As a start, no other state should be created apart from those defined above for 10 years after adoption of the new constitution
10. Retain the same number of House of Representatives' members even with the new states
11. New Senators for the 2 new states and the 2 new FT's (3 each).
12. National assembly members to be paid by region. Salaries and allowances to be defined by each regions Public and Civil Service standards
13. No State Assemblies
14. Regional assemblies to be made up of 1 person per state
NB. FT is Federal Territory
5 AUTONOMOUS REGIONS:
1. Arewa / North (11 States) = Current NW GPZ + Bauchi + Gombe + Yobe + Borno (without Kaduna FT and Gurara)
2. Middle Belt / Central (8 States) = Current NC GPZ + Taraba + Adamawa + Gurara (without New Kwara State)
3. Yoruba / West (6 States) = Current SW GPZ + new Kwara State (without Lagos FT)
4. Niger Delta / South (6 States) = Current SS GPZ (without Anioma State and Port Harcourt FT)
5. Igbo / East (6 States) = Current SE GPZ + Anioma State
4 SPECIAL / FEDERAL TERRITORIES (to be governed by the Federation / Centre):
A. Kaduna FT
B. Abuja FCT (Current FCT)
C. Lagos FT
D. Port Harcourt FT
All decisions stated above to be subject to several referendums depending on which aspects
Kindly send in your comments. I will also attempt to respond to clarification requests If you think state is your problem, I pity you. |

Please, opinions are highly welcome if the dress code is an issue and to you a measure of godliness of every congregants, then you are implying muslims who place bombs under hijab are godly I guess. Before you switch accounts and attack me for exposing you, remember the only university with emphasis on dress code in Nigeria is under Winners Chapels Intl so your idea of labelling what people chose to wear as dress code like it was dictated to them by winners is dead on arrival. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Beware Of The Doctrine Of The Pharisees - Jesus by CodeTemplar: 5:34am On Oct 18, 2020 |
jesusjnr2020: Beware Of The Doctrine Of The Pharisees - Jesus
Matthew 16:6 (KJV)
Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Matthew 16:12 (KJV)
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
Hence Jesus warned His disciples to be wary of the doctrine of the Pharisees, while He was here on Earth.
The Pharisees were said by Jesus to have transgressed and made the commandments of God to be of none effect by their traditions, as they taught the traditions of men as doctrines. Matthew 15:3-9
And one of the major constituents of the doctrines of the Pharisees was tithing. As they placed tithing one of the least matters of the law above its weightier matter such as justice, mercy and faith. Matthew 23:23
On the contrary, Jesus never spoke about tithing in His doctrine except on two occasions. And both were to address the misleading and erroneous doctrine and mindset of the Pharisees. Matthew 23:23, Luke 18:10-14.
The Pharisee were also said to be covetous persons who derided Jesus when He exposed their love for money and the things of this world, which forms the basis of their erroneous doctrine and suggests where their obsession for tithes stems from. Luke 16:9-15
But despite this warning of Jesus concerning the doctrine of the Pharisees, many of the church appear to have taken to it.
The doctrine of the Pharisees commands a huge following in the present-day church, just as it did in the days of Jesus where the Pharisees, despite being an abomination in God's sight, had a lot of followers and were highly esteemed of men.
The preachers of this doctrine in the church can be said to be the modern day version of their counterparts in the days of Jesus, and one way to spot them is the extent they go to emphasize tithing.
They place it above the weightier matters of the Teachings of Jesus, and have hence made the commandments and promises of Jesus to be of none effect in the lives of men.
Hence today, the church is nothing compared to what it was when the church heeded the warning of Jesus and kept the doctrine of the Pharisees away from the church.
The church cannot continue to ignore such warnings of Jesus, and expect that it would be well with her.
It's not too late to heed what Jesus says!
Beware of the doctrine of the Pharisees!
God bless. . . . I have always known you as a subtly agent of darkness sent to weaken the faith of Christians and you just proved it again. See the way you twisted Matthews 23:23, it reminds of how you father himself twisted the scriptures when deceiving Adam & Eve and when tempting Jesus. Mathews 23:23 clearly ends with "... these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone" Any average primary 1 pupil knows the word " these" in that verse is talking about multiple items (law, judgement and faith) and the phrase "the other" is referring to tithe. Jesus clearly clarified the issue by say all ought to be followed and done. Clearly someone is following the footsteps of his father the devil. |

PhiliptheArab: And you think that the police budget is enough to fund all that, after salaries, weapons,e tc has been paid off? You Nigerians should be relaistic. Nigeria is not rich. If we were , we won't be arguing about this.
You want US level, you have to pay US level taxes, US level costs.
and besides, does every SME have CCTV?
And it isnt even just CCTV, we have to have better forensic capacity, better records, etc. All these cost far more money than we have.
And by the way, I wrote all that post you quoted and called copy and paste off the back of my head, checked google only for the budget figure of NYPD. Get lost. |

PhiliptheArab: Well, I have heard myself......and I still stand by what I said.
Before we even talk of how the police spend their money...the truth is, the money they get in the first place won't be enough to fund the police forcees of an average American state (Remember your original comment used the US as an example of good policing).
Cutting recurrent expenditure won't make things better.
The NYPD is one of the US's better police forces. They police the city of New York. Their budget for last year ? $6billion. That's nearly one quarter of Nigeria's budget for everything, police and army inclusive. Our police getless than one billion dollars to police the whole of Nigeria, with at least 150 milion people.....
And you expect them to be like the US, on that slim a budget.?
We have to vote in leaders who make our economy prosperous , and who start rasing our tax to gdp ratio, among other things, then we can get a sensible budget, then we can get cameras in every room in your local police station.
The sad thing is that they still loot the money, despite the low level.
Nigeria, despite all we say and do and think, and no I AM NOT DEFENDING ANY GOVERNMENT PAST OR PRESENT, thank you, is not a rich country. We are a poor country, whose leaders and followers bicker over a non-existent national cake. @bold part, pls listen to yourself. Advanced nations goes beyond US or new York. |

PhiliptheArab: You are expecting much from a budget that is one fifth of what the NYPD spends in a year.....
Note...I am not excusin the evil of the police or the government. I merely point out that if you want a well functioning police, you have to have enough funds for a start.
And our police force needs money in the trillions of naira. Before we can even get a standard police force. self. with all the trimmings...
Modified
Does your average policce station have enough cash for stationery, talkless of cameras. And we haven't even started about the power for the cameras to function self.... Hear yourself. What they spend is yearly is largely on recurrent cost. What I suggested is capital cost intensive but recurrent cost friendly. There are great cameras everywhere and cheap storage devices now. |
