agabusta: What's the population of Canann land. Do you have an idea of their power load?
We can break it down, get the cost of power, then look at population of a town and the power load requirement and also at the revenue of states vis a vis other areas of the state that needs funding.
I dont know about Cannanland but I heard that RCCG is charging like 70naira plus for power. Are the masses ready to pay that amount? Any state that invest in power and not able to charge such an amount will be doing that at a great loss! Almost all states in Naija do not have such financial resources.
Lagos state is generating power to only supply some of its personal assets like these religious bodies. To extend it to the general populace for now is practically very difficult. N70 per KWh isn't as bad as you think. If everyone is conscious of what eats up their power and the cost of alternative power source, they will jump at N70 that's predictable and can be planned with. |
Politics › Re: What's Exactly Stopping Nigeria From Having 24/7 Electricity? by CodeTemplar: 9:12am On Sep 07, 2020 |
agabusta: Sincerely, I doubt if Nigerians can pay.
A market breakthrough price will be.like 60/70naira per kw unit.
Nigerians were formerly paying between 21 and 30 naira before the recent increase. And even as at then, if they supply consistent 15hrs in a month, an average 3 bedroom family house will be paying like 30k at the end of the month.
If a true price is charged and there is 20hrs of power, an average 3-bedroom family house eill be paying 50/60k per month. Nigerians can depending on certain things. If for consumption or luxury use I doubt they can, If for productive use, they surely can pay. The question you need to ask is what is the cost of the alternative to PHCH at that rate (N60 per kWh? Petrol is a least N100 per KWh. Diesel is more scale friendly but not as cheap as a PHCN. So for an industry needing thousands of KWh it makes sense to buy at N60 per KWh than cause pollution and waste money. |

Reference: Hindsight is always 20/20 but the internet is a great diary of events. Once the APC got into power in 2015 I did say then within weeks of the new administration that they should visit the subsidy issue and withdraw it in piecemeal percentage terms over the course of its four year term. Then political capital was at an all time high and Nigerians could psychologically bear whatever hardship they simply cannot today.
However, the truth is that the now infamous "corruption" rhetoric turned propaganda turned holy grail prevented both government and the blinded public from noticing and accepting any other narrative as to what our problems as a country could be and the solutions.
I did, and continue to emphasise a faulty structure misgiverning ALL things. I did, and continue to emphasise a terrible lack of productivity as an anchor to our economy, and so on. Corruption does not even appear on my radar because it was no more than a headache and headaches though paralysing are not infirmities or diseases, but symptoms of underlying conditions ranging anywhere from illiteracy and incompetence to prejudice and nepotism. Sort these out and corruption ends.
So they had all the opportunity to make these hard but important choices and will have been reaping the benefits if we were not all blind sighted by faulty politicking. The three key important economic decisions the next goverment should make, one again is to fully deregulate the petroleum sector, fully deregulate the power sector and fully deregulate the currency exchange market. Anything short of that and pain will continue for the next century or until we are ready, period. What else can I add. The problems can be debated and denied by the elite but its symptoms and effect is undeniable from the other end (masses). |

dukeprince50: if there is power at the right price, industries will grow. if industries grow, more industries will spring up. if more industries spring up, there will be job. if there is job, there will be money. if there is money, we can pay for power at the right price. Fixed. What they want is power to be sold at a rip off rate. That's the only thing that can keep the flow of their already institutionalized corruption money alive. |

The idea of this sharia court deciding the fate of a person is very daft and illogical. If is like a house owner and a visitor. House owner grants visitor access into the house. Visitor says my invisible friend has given me power to own any house I enter, so I now own this house. A fight ensues, and visitor prevails. That's how sharia court and customary court are. |

Simplyleo: I agree with Tinubu 100%.
The sharing formula is just too awkward and lacks logic, purpose and goal.
Imagine, a region with 5 states, less population, 29km2 land mass getting more than 5 times of a state with land mass of 76km2 and huge population. So money should be shared by landmass now? That's a stupid idea. Land is a factor of economics and should associated with higher output instead of using it to diplomatically beg. If you give two farmers, A & B piece of land, with A getting double of B, then it makes sense to expect double of B's return from A, Though A needs double of B's input. |

* Some individuals were saying when Churches open, it will rise. I've never seen where people think like that. The Church is ordained a solution centre for the world. * This data is a clear evidence that the Church has the solution; when we pray, God hears. * Thank God for the prayers we pray in the house; there is a prayer we pray in the Temple where the fire comes from Heaven and consumes the sacrifice. That's why we are here. Jesus is Lord. *The same way, my God will level out every everlasting mountain standing before your life.
* You can't be at the base of Liberation and be a victim of captivity * From now, they will start recording zero zero zero cases of corona virus.
