Seun: We knew this was going to happen when the motor parks were closed. What did they think all the conductors and touts would turn to? Lol. . . While violent crime has gone down in UK I doubt it will stay down here much longer. I blame the FG for this. Lockdown coupled with their lopsided transfer of cash mean Agberos, touts and ruffians will turn to crime. |
Food › COVID-19: 1.5milllion Face Hunger In UK by CodeTemplar(op): 7:00pm On Apr 11, 2020 |
Some 1.5 million people have reported going a whole day without eating since the draconian measures were introduced three weeks ago, because they didn't have enough in their cupboards and fridges. The figures, from a YouGov poll commissioned by the Food Foundation and the FFCC (Food, Farming and Countryside Commission), also show six per cent of the population - more than three million people - have had someone in their household skip dinner. Furthermore, the research claims that more than a million people said they've lost all of their income as a result of the lockdown, while more than a third (43%) who are now earning less think they are not entitled to help from the government. In response, the foundation is calling on the government to support councils to improve welfare assistance schemes and provide nutritious food parcels for people who are self-isolating while also looking for better home delivery options. It comes as local authorities are reporting similar stories from the frontline, with Liverpool City Council seeing a 150% rise in emergency grants being given to people without food or money to pay their bills, according to the Guardian. Its network of food banks has had to step up efforts even more since the lockdown, and is now open for longer hours having given out hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of goods to needy families this week alone. he council's deputy mayor, Jane Corbett has echoed much of the Food Foundation's calls to for more help from central government. She told the newspaper: 'The fragility of our current social security system is now being seen in stark relief; extreme pressure on food banks is just one clear example. Our budget has been cut by 63% since 2013.' Charities are calling for parcels to be made available for those who are self-isolating amid the pandemic A government spokesperson said: 'Public safety and making sure that those most at risk from the virus get the support they need is our top priority. People should stay at home, to help protect our NHS and save lives. 'We're working with the groceries industry, local government, local resilience and emergency partners to ensure essential items are delivered as soon as possible to the most vulnerable.' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8210559/Hunger-crisis-hits-lockdown-Britain-1-5million-say-without-eating-day.html |

OtemAtum: I'm not a Muslim. I'm anti-religion. Mosques can give back too, based on what they have collected from the masses. But what have they really collected from the masses? Peanuts. You are making even less sense now. Money collected have uses and are used appropriately so you have no point. What God says is that we give unto Caesar what's his and to God what's his. Why should what's God's be transfered to Caesar when Caesar controls the resource God has put in the land(oil) and is the one paying wages from where a fraction goes to the church as tithes and offering and another to Caesar as tax? Use what God gave you. |

https://www.nairaland.com/3817259/dedication-church-built-governor-wike So a worship centre in govt house amounts to funding that religion? What I am talking about is the use of state funds outside govt house to build mosques which is rampant in the north. That's different from govt house worship centre. |

kgr8mike: Borrowing to steal is a crime against Nigeria posterity. Borrowing to steal the borrowed fund is a sin that will not be forgiven.
Nigeria is facing COVID-19 and funds meant to alleviate the frustration of the Nigerian people are lost to fire in their billions and shared to anonymous fellows in billions.
Nigeria is facing COVID -19 lockdown and some part of the country are categorized as more venerable than others and some individuals categorized as more in need than others.
These are sins that will not go unpunished. These sins will not go unpunished as they borrow more to steal more and leave the future Nigerians in depth. The bold really pained me ehn. Those folks in Zamfara they term poor are largely rural dwelling folks which they term poor. In the current pandemic, who do you think is taking the hit more? The man in a village in zamfara who go to farm, eat well, doesn't miss school lockdown or the man in Onitsha, Owerri, Benin, Kaduna whose daily earning keeps him going? That shows you how wicked our govt is. |

OtemAtum: Churches should give back to the community na. However, the amount should be based on what each individual church is receiving from the couple-to-be. In that way, Pastor Oyedepo's church will have to pay higher than pastors of Cele possessing churches where poverty is stinking. And what will mosques give back to the community? Hatred wan finish u. |

dulux07: In a civilized country is the money donated to the govt meant for the govt or the people? .
Is the church meant to cater for "only" its members physical and spiritual needs?
Why do the bible speak about generosity, providing shelter and food for the poor? Since there is a govt whose job is to cater for all these things?
You can't compare uk economy to nigeria, besides not all churches make their donation known.
Motive is what matters, so far they are assisting the govt to help the people, i dont see how this is not right, or is it not the people that make up the church and donate to the church. Donation to poor and needy is different from that to govt. In Nigeria for example, they use state fund to build mosques so why should I allow my money to be used to fund what I don't believe in? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Should Churches Donate Money To Government? by CodeTemplar: 1:47pm On Apr 11, 2020 |
In a country where they oppress Christians, churches should suspend any donation towards govt. What you donate, If it finds its way to some state treasury, they use them to build mosques. So why financially empower an agent of the adversary. |

Over here an average black American will commit a crime and will expect a judge not to convict and send him to jail when found guilty. Over here they don't go to college, they all wanna be gangsters and they hate on the whites for no just reason. All they do is drugs and hoeing around and yet they wanna compete with the whites.
