That my greatest wish...I personally believe solving the power issues in 9ja automatically solves 30% of all our problem.. But the power issue is highly complicated.. $2.5bn will only scratch the surface of trying to fix all the issues Faiththatworks: I have always wanted to make a suggestion to the Nigerian govt,I think there are some govt officials who visit Nairaland to read the opinions of Nigerians. Please whoever has access to Gen Buhari should tell him it's time to permanently fix the issue of darkness in Nigeria. My suggestion is very simple, Nigerians should be allowed to vote Yes or No for government to access 3 Billion Dollars from the foreign reserve to fix this issue of inadequate power supply. If the citizens agree to allow govt access the money, Government should form a company that allows all Nigerian to have a share in the company. The 3 Billion Dollars should be deployed to fixing the entire power chain, especially production. If we can employ more than 100000 people to fabricate the iron pipes we need to move move the gas to all the moribund power plants, secure the pipeline right of way, build new transmission lines, send some some yoiths to mambilla to work there, and even start companies to mass produce prepaid meters,I'm sure Nigeria will be out of this mess called power shortage in a short while. Part of the condition of removing the money is that Nigerians must have an open agreement on the pricing of the electricity. Finally laws will be made to imprison anyone who makes any attempt to steal the money, and also another law to put a date on the ban of the importation of generators. If Government can borrow 2.5 billion to build rails,I'm sure accesssing 3 Billion to repair the entire power sector isn't too much. God bless Nigeria |

Food price ain't cheap in Benue at all.. Redman44: It depends on the city, state or Town you are schooling in. Food prices vary across Nigeria. If you are schooling in Benue, Taraba or Nasarrawa States, food stuff should be cheaper for you. Even in Ibadan, food stuff is cheaper than in Lagos. Cheers.

U simply must be a misplaced and pained individual... If u cannot simply lay down ur facts and figures without insult.. Secondly... It a bit absurd that u compare akwa ibom to many of this northern state who are poor in everything and don't have the money to transform their state... The truth is if u exclude uyo and ekot ekpene ..visit akwa ibom...there is really no much difference between it and other mediocre states... Akwa ibom has received trillions of naira in the last decades ...what exactly can they show for it...airlines, towers and hotels.. There is no job in akwa ibom ..if u know their state well and u r ready to admit...u will know that...how can a state spending around $2 bn a year and still regarded as a civil servant state where the middle and upper class are civil servant.. I think ur not properly educated.... 7th highest IGR from a few oil companies and 3rd highest GDP thanks to it massive oil production doesn't equal massive job for the population and better living and economic development for it youth... Oil is one extremely profitable resources that hardly or in short doesn't create jobs... Why not learn from Lagos who doesn't get it revenue from Royalties of oil companies but from taxes of the working class population and business men and women or anambra... My point is all the money they make from oil should be used to put down sustainable investment and building a seaport that we attract people from all over the globe to come do business like we see in PH and Lagos... You will never understand because u don't understand the worth of being faced directly opposite with the Atlantic ocean.. Lastly most akwa ibom people are actually poor...u know it...many of them rush to neighboring prosperous state ..e.g rivers state for better opportunities Ilaumoh: so much poverty and there are the 7th highest IGR in Nigeria and 3rd highest GDP in Nigeria among the 37 states .. Well my comment is for those who can reason... Akwa ibom is the second highest revenue generator after Lagos...but it doesn't reflect on the people or state...it only reflect on their airline, towers and 5 star hotel... Akwa ibom is not an economically vibrant state that why there is so much poverty there...it not by Christmas light on roads or airline..give people work Ilaumoh: One wonder why you are so pained Jealousy na disease |

Ondo, anambra are doing much better than akwa ibom state...yes I said akwa ibom state... A state DAT waste resources building white elephant projects 21 story tower that benefit no one, 5 stars hotels and airlines that not more than 0.001% of the entire population will fly... Money that should have been invested into massive industries and building a major deep sea port to attract massive industrialization... Don't even think of mentioning the car assembly or coconut oil factory he is building... It not a enough to turn the state to an industrialized state...and such industries should be done by private sector... and to attract private sector investment you build a seaport!!!.. The ibeno port is taking forever to implement... Although akwa ibom has done remarkably well on quality road infrastructure... Kaduna and kano are also doing well...insecurity is their bane Freestainworld: The governor of Lagos State, Rivers State, Akwa-ibom state are the best governors in this era, the whole governors in the East excluding Umahi of Ebony state, are the worst performing governors especially the one of Abia state, the other South south governors are just carrying big tummy up and down for nothing, the whole governors in the north excluding the short man devil and one other governor that I have forgotten his name are just answering governors for answering sake, in the west, just remove Lagos, the others are owambe title holders. |

Lol...not my point entirely... Am only saying that looking at the number of deaths...we can't really say the helicopter dropped weapons in the SW bush..otherwise.. The situation would have been something else...in short it had more to do with tribal clash .which died down as soon as igboho was arrested..I mean after all the noise about amotekun bla bla...no open grazing... Fulani are still grazing openly all over the southern bushes and nothing has happened...unlike what is happening in the north relating to bandits and helicopter we are seeing here Ttalk: You mean 15citizen killed is not enough to raise concern from the people? Lol...if u check google for Nigeria's generating capacity.. You will see that it stated clearly that we can generate up to 12,000MW I have read articles of top individuals in the power sector saying that 3,500MW Can power the whole Lagos...Governors candidate of PDP jimi agbaje said the same....so if 3,000 to 3,500 can power Lagos with all the industries and businesses then the whole of the SE excluding ebonyi and SS combined including abuja and Niger can utilize 6500 MW even though their industrialization even when combined doesn't match Lagos... Ogun ,kano , kaduna and Oyo can take around 1500MW to 2,000 MW... The rest can go and die SirLakes: Which of these minister of power are we gonna believe now ehn |

Very Big one! Funny enough without building new plants we have the ability to generate 12,000MW.. If Siemens deal work out...the first goal should be to deliver 24/7 power first to only the economically vibrant states that contribute a lot to the economic and a vast amount SMSE and abuja... Before we focus on rural areas and some stagnant states.. Lagos doesn't need more than 3,000 MW..abuja and other vibrant states can utilize 6500MW for 24/7 power The remaining 2500MW should go to other region with atleast 12hrs per day DubaiLandLord1: I can't believe Nigeria will still be struggling to generate a terrible MW of power in 2021.
From 1999 till 2021, there is no meaningful development in the power sector? This is a big shame |

Most of the power generating infrastructure are in the south... The power plants in Lagos, ondo, south south states, IMO generate more power than all the power plant in Niger state JavaScript9091: How can there be electricity when most of the power generating infastructures are sited in the security challenged north. Boko Haram and bandits might be in control of some power plants and critical power assets but trust this government to hide it from you.
