Logicboy03: I agree with your write up but this issue has been addressed many times on this section.I know right. One just has to continually bring this issue to the fore. Because there are certain things i see or read and can't simply believe it was said by a sane human |
I see your point but i had to get this off my chest |
I have often wondered if Karl Marx had a vision of present day Nigeria when he postulated that religion is the opium of the masses Seriously,Nigeria is probably the most religious nation on earth. Every nook and cranny is dotted with spires, domes and turrets. Churches and Mosques undulate to calls to prayer and evangelical music.A pilgrimage to Mecca or Jerusalem is a badge of religious devotion sought after with great zeal alongside the much needed appellations like Bishop,Pastor,Alhaji,Deacon etc. Today in Nigeria being born again is now socially acceptable and even politically correct in certain quarters.as a matter of fact, there are more churches and mosques in Nigeria today than industries and schools put together (disprove me if you dare) One would expect with this spread of churches, mosques and prayer houses that there should be an accompanying growth in morals in the society but alas this is not the case. The religious boom has been paralleled by a growth of a far less desirable kind.A decline in moral values creating an intriguing spectacle of more religion and less morality.Take Nigeria's abysmal rating on the global corruption index or the uncontrollable levels of insecurity for instance and paradoxically compare it with its rating as the most religious nation on earth. There is a profound dissonance between the spread of religion and the moral decline that has promoted corruption from a malaise confined to the epochal heights of governance to a full blown social plague. For all the religious fervour in the nation, faith has little or no social expression But why is this important at all?Like Nairalanders are wont to ask. In truth, religion has become Nigeria's greatest problem.A religious movement can develop a narcissistic obsession with its own mythology. Its adherents can become blinded by a creed of materialistic self involvement to the problems of a society which they are meant to heal.Religion as we have come to know it today, for the most part, has become an impediment to culture change. Its ways and its means have become obsolete. At the risk of sounding off,let me pause here but not before I state that the Nigerian religious establishment is ripe for a reformation as is the society as a whole. The much touted recovery envisaged in the political and economic spheres cannot be attained without a recovery of values.A reform of existing religious strains could be the much needed springboard for a mass mobilisation of civil society to protest the many ills plaguing our society |
Nigerians just put up buildings from ground up with no consideration for fire hazards and safety. Probably if smoke alarms and other fire like detectors had been installed this disaster would have been averted or discovered in time to nick it in the bud. While i am no fan of Oyedepo and his crooked ways,i do not condone this in any shape or form. It's a sad development. |
This is a no-brainer! Bishop Oyedepo is lying through his teeth & this much is as clear as daylight. Can someone please point me in the direction of a business or businesses Oyedepo was running before the establishment of his church. Nigerians are so gullible it's mind boggling. Sheesh! |
And to think Mikel & Messi were almost on the same page in the not so distant past. Smh ![]() |
Those deprecating folks who are cheering the abduction are missing the point by a mile. Nobody deserves to be kidnapped, true but I think the reason for the eulogies going the kidnappers way is not because they think whatever ransom they receive (if they ever do) will return to the treasury or distributed amongst the downtrodden of course not! This is only going to serve as a rude awakening to political office holders and people like them in high places who think they're aloof from the rest of us that they're certainly not. This might just be the incident Delta state needs to wake Uduaghan from his reverie and improve the security situation in his jurisdiction. That's if he's not complicit in the whole mess. One can never trust these crooked folks |
Christianity is in the main 'the religion of business'. It's a multi-billion naira industry & everyone wants to tap into it. There's nothing as profitable as being a God's banker |
Afro_Blue: Pacquiao Stunned in Sixth Round, This is the sad truth. All boxers have their bad days, even the greatest boxers to step into the ring have kissed the canvas at one time or another. Nonetheless,Marquez still deserves credit for proving to the world he's a tough nut to crack. In some of their previous bouts i could have swore he was cheated out of the fight. Kudos to him & Pacmam, better go get your act together. You can't be a clergy,a politician and a boxer all at the same time. |
Ok. I expect the critically acclaimed 'this post has been hidden' to reach an all time high on this thread |
Abeg the only beautiful picture up there is the nut buying photo & the smile on the girl's face Maybe that could be attributed to the fact that i'm a sucker for nuts...lol. Nice one Okalla madu, kala muo. You did a stellar job |
RudySmith: Are you saying that you do not know about any woman who lied simply because she was a deceitful person? are you saying that all women lie to prevent themselves from the evils of men? Are you saying that all women who lie about money do so because they have some and lie that they have none?Straight talking. No further comments necessary |
Please is there a deadline to make a donate (apologies to Patience) I'd like to pitch in now if possible...cheers |
cap28: To say that nigerian rappers are all a pile of shite would be the understatement of the year, hip hop is over and done with but the nigerian hip hop scene is a complete and utter non starter, nigerians need to get back to the drawing board and CREATE A SOUND THAT IS UNIQUE AND STOP COPYING AFRICAN AMERICANS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE - THIS IS WHAT HIP HOP IS SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE:Lol,so you're a MobbDeep fan? Well maybe, just maybe i might start cutting you some slack. Nonetheless, to say the Nigerian hip hop scene is a non starter is a spur of the moment rage. There are some really good hip hop artistes out there. Some of them unsung |
montero4relo: we are in the end time, God pls do not forsake me, arrest and change from sin the way you did to saul while on his way to damascus... really? |
Abyjah: Small mind busy trying to stop the gospel. Just like Napoleon the great, you'll soon cry out that God almighty is too much for you.Can you please stop spamming threads with this drivel of yours. Mods,i think this has gone far enough. Do the right thing |
Here's my guiding principle on the need for weapons & sundry issues; 'better to have it & don't need it. Than to need it & don't have it'. |
go4value: wetin be my own....shiloh things joorYeah & while you're busy screaming your head off & spewing gibberish to your Oyedepo God,the rest of the world is moving ahead at lightning speed! Mtcheew |
Ok,will do my bit by the expiration of this week |
Nice. She's beautiful no doubt. Nuff said! |
Seriously i'm sick & tired of getting sick & tired of these churches & their so called men of God that run these enterprises. If you don't want single folks in the front row, clearly state it 'front row reserved for politicians, tricksters, contractors & serious tithe paying members. Single brethren please take the back seat. Thank you very much'. Simple as |
Whenever i come on these religious boards i leave happier, satisfied & justified in my decision to give up on religion. This is just a load of bs |
Yup! Checked mine about a month ago.CD4-934 Viral load below 20 |
james1: Flash floods all over the world;is it a sign of something sinister to come?Abeg maq we hia word! |
Why does she always have to write like that? It's unbecoming of someone of her status. Or probably i'm giving her too much credit. |
Idokojimmy: [b]Suddenly they just realised being proactive helps. Wow! The end is nigh. |
MAYOWAAK: The advert for the program was placed in some Newspapers,I can't recall the theme but something that has to do with raising and producing the next leaders in the technological and business sphere with the face of Mark Zuckerberg adorning the page of the advert. Not minding the fact that Mark Zuckerberg is an Atheist of the Dawkins school of thought. O ma se o! |
When i said i always knew there was something non-kosher about this bloke. Some folks scoffed. Now the brutal truth is rising to the surface. Problem is most people would just feign ignorance & continue to stew in their delusions. I feel for my peoples |
ItsModella: is this a serious question? How serious can it get? |
Seriously, how does one beat a lady to death? I don't get it. Or did he stab her? Or shoot her maybe |
