My dear, ur biological mother is different from mother in law. U can correct ur mother when she goes wrong but the other way round, they will see it at disrespect, u can easily tell ur mother to do things for u at home but reverse is the case for mother in law.

Like when I gave birth, my MIL came to spend two month, I end up doing my chores myself, she will even wake u up in d morning to come and cook, if they bring gift for d baby, she will ask what is inside, complaining that my rice is always half done, that semi make her to wee at nite that she prefer eating it in d morning, that I don't breastfeed in d parlour etc. if u don't pass, she won't need water. Finish breakfast and shift the plate to one side then lie down on d sofa expecting u to come and pack the plates, Me that just gave birth o, couldn't get enough rest. But when she goes to her daughters house for omugwo, she does all the works there.
Even his son was tired of everything, her daughter will come for visit and they will be sending me to d market, who am I to say no. But such cannot happen again sha.
All these village MIL are always the culprit, they see u as wife not their child.
But if is ur mama, na to sleep come meet food.

Comtem2011, I've read and have been told, that too much tv below the age of 2 is not good. That there are studies which monitor their brain pattern during watching tv and it shows very little brain activity during watching (they can't interact with the tv so they don't use their brains) so tv doesn't benefit them before the age of 2, which leads to slower learning at that age. My daughter does the same thing: quiet in front of the tv, but she can recognise 2 or 3 shows she likes. But she doesn't talk much when watching it. Funny enough, she is now singing "Twinkle Twinkle little star" and she learnt it from me singing it to her and not from YouTube videos showing it (she can't recognise it when it is showing). I guess that's why books are recommended more, babies can feel and touch it and interact with it.

My 14months daughter z at it again...she keep rejecting her pap,and always insists on goldenmorn and happy hour drink.what will I do!

same with my baby since he clocked 9 months, my saving grace is the family diet I introduced to him on time and he is really enjoying it. He now preferred packaged cereals to pap.
He doesn't joke with jar food at all, but as per juice, I give him home made juice like orange, water melon. I started using cup and soft spoon for him instead of pouring the juice in feeding bottle (courtesy of alphahandmaiden and helovesme).
I blended local rice which I made in form of pap and added formula, semo mix with milk, wheat mix with milk and they r yummy ( I can't come and kpai with this Buhari era).

Try and introduce other homemade cereal to her and homemade juice instead of happy hour, though she can take carton juice once in a while like mama soonest suggested.

As adult, we also get tired of some food at a particular time.

Hello everyone. I'd like to ask a question please: how many of you have started reading to your children? What age did you start? Do you have a preference for a type of book (religious, cultural, early learning etc)? Do you know where to find books affordably? Do you think it's important to read to your child or do you hope the creche/daycare does it?

I'm asking because we keep addressing the physical well-being of our children but no-one menti the mental well-being. And I think we re (ly a bit too much on teachers whom ae (in all honestly) doing that job to cash a paycheck rather than because they want to give your kids the best knowledge.

I started reading to him when he was 8 months old cos I learnt that from Mr Google. Though most of d storylines r from the internet, we do this during the day and at bedtime but he doesn't listen as he is always busy playing or wants to suck.

Also, his father got him different types of cartoon to be watching since we discovered that he likes watching TV, he would just concentrate as if he knows what they r doing. I read Bible to him a lot especially the book of Proverbs, but he is always struggling to collect d bible self.

There is a man in my neighborhood that doesn't give breathing space to his wife with child bearing, the children hardly senior themselves with one year. In the name of looking for male children they gave birth to 8 children, on the 6th one the woman was already leaping. My baby and their last born are of the same age (11 months) she gave birth to her via CS . The woman just gave birth to another baby (preterm) last week via CS again, Baby is inside incubator and the mother is late now.
Leaving 8 children behind and d husband just got a political appointment.

Drs have warned them not to have babies anymore but d husband would not listen, always beating her because of sex. She was advised to go for family planning but refused because of the husband. I even sent one of her friend to her to warn her about getting pregnant again. Now that she is gone, won't the husband remarry?

The truth is so many people are going through a lot it's just dat some of us don't let it get to us. All I know is no condition is permanent d poor today ll become rich tomorrow .

That should be his true complexion, I don't touch my baby face with soap either and its lighter than his body. Just be keen about the skin glowing and not colour, u can try baby tetmosol for him, that's what we use and no record of rashes or skin problem till today.

Most babies are birth light skinned, but change to their original color as they grow, meanwhile black is beauty.

Pictures have never and will never be the best way of judging a person's finances. Besides, people can be "comfortable" today and then something happens (loss of job, bad business decision, etc) and then they end up struggling and living from hand to mouth.

What facilities do they have to store and warm up the food.

If they have a steamer, you can pretty much pack anything made from home as it doesnt dry up the food. Whatever you usually mash up for her should be fine.

For snacks You can pop in some prepared fruits and veg.
a banana (whole),
Cut up and deseeded watermelons
Sectioned and deseeded oranges or tangerines
Diced mango pieces.
Half an avocado.( brush the exposed edges in lemon or lime juice to prevent discoloration and wrap in cling film.
Boiled sliced carrots sticks.


You could also try some sandwiches cut up into about 4 strips. For fillings you could try
Butter & jam
peanut butter or
mashed egg yolk & avocado ( sprinkle avocado poeces with lime or lemon juice to prevent discoloration)
Even simple toast with a bit of butter or jam can offered.


Why dont you speak with the creche and see if they have a preference. They should offer to keep the food in the fridge till required. Some may even offer to provide lunch, howevrr you may want to see their lunch menu to make sure its varied and healthy.

Cheer up sister, most time when abortion/miscarriage happen in first trimester its probably there is abnormalities in the growing foetus. Do ur research on first trimester abortion and u will c ur self. God loves his own and will never give us what we cannot handle. it happened to me during my first pregnancy and I took in 2months after evacuation. so stay strong and prepare urself again and pls don't stop taking ur folic acid.
