semyman: IBB was Abiola's Best Friend in the Military. His son was also in love with with IBB's daughter, they were going to get married!
Abiola sponsored, financially, the Coup that brought in IBB and removed BUHARI because IBB fooled everyone including Awolowo family and friends that BUHARI was a wicked man...
IBB was the 3rd Most Powerful man in General BUHARI’s Government.... He was the Chief of Army Staff, he was the one who ordered the military to ransack Awolowo's Home and told Awolowo that General BUHARI gave the directive, Taciturn GMB failed woefully to defend himself, like he has always been, GMB does not talk...
Unfortunately for everyone, IBB was a death warrant for everyone including the Journalists and Human Right Activists who wrote and talked GMB out of power... And IBB came on board!!!!
IBB destroyed the Press. It was his tenure that introduced Bomb Letter to Nigeria Politics, and the Target was the Press. Dele Giwa a foremost Journalist was killed in his dining while he was eating with Kayode Soyinka who narrowly escaped death!!!
Corruption was institutionalized and many people disappeared without a trace... Yet, IBB always appeared on TV with a glowing smile as if all was well.
And Abiola became a critic of his friend, all of a sudden. Abiola was mad when IBB closed down UNILAG for 1 year, he described IBB government as ridiculous and dictatorial....
Abiola, despite several warnings from his late wife and Sheik Adams in Agege (of blessed memory), decided to go into full politics instead of sponsoring people to power who turned out to be a disaster.
He said under his government no Nigerian would go to bed on empty stomach!!!! FAREWELL TO POVERTY he called his Manifesto.
Abiola ran a fantastic campaign, he went to all parts of Nigeria, met with all groups, all organizations. Nigerians responded by voting overwhelmingly for him.
Remove the SOUTHWEST votes from the entire votes, Abiola won, remove the entire Southern votes and count only the North Votes or Vice versa , Abiola won.
On June 12 1993, rain didn't fall at any part of Nigeria. It was the freest, fairest and most peaceful, most credible election in African Continent!!!
Sikiru Ayinde Barrister sang "Hausa cast his vote for Abiola, Igbo cast his vote for Abiola, Yoruba cast his vote for Abiola but instead of giving Moshood his Mandate to fix Nigeria for us, it is the grammar of Annulment that came to the world..."
IBB, Buhari’s Chief of Army Staff and Abiola's Bossom Friend and Would be in-law who Abiola helped to oust Buhari, made a National Broadcast on June 23, 1993 where he said the Armed Forces Ruling Council under him has annulled June 12 Election and MKO Abiola has been banned from politics!!!!
Abiola struggled to retrieve his mandate until he was killed in a custody inside Aso Rock under the Government of Abdulsalami Abubakar in 1998!!!
17 years after, the same BUHARI came to power in what looks like a Divine Destiny that God has determined not allow anyone truncate... That is why Yoruba said "The World cannot Change Destiny but they can only delay it..."!!!!
20 years after Abiola's death, President Muhammadu Buhari conferred the Highest Honor in the land(GCFR) reserved for Presidents on MKO Abiola, he didn't stop there, he proclaimed June 12 as Democracy Day in Nigeria!!!
Unprecedented in our history especially in a country where Vindictiveness is a way of life.
I've never seen any African leader, apart from Nelson Mandela, who forgive his enemies at a time when the power of revenge is in his kitty!!!
I was at that event, I wept. Soyinka was fighting tears..... Hafsat Abiola stood up on behalf of MKO Family to openly apologize for whatever sin his dad must have committed against Buhari. At that time, PMB was beginning to fight tears too!!!
President Muhammadu Buhari, God that sees your heart and gave you victory over the monsters and evil men who think Nigeria is their personal property, that same GOD will be with you until the end of your tenure in 2023. Amen How much Buhari dae pay you sef? Useless Baggar. |

Karlebolu: You might struggle to land a job.
Before you learn anything, search whether it is marketable. There are other programming niches more marketable than AI/ML.
From my little experience, AI isn't so marketable in Nigeria. The hot niches are web and mobile developments. Ok Thanks. |

tensazangetsu20: Even in the abroad, it's not easy landing an AI job without a PhD from a top school like Stanford or MIT. I see a lot of complaints on Reddit. Also a 32 bit laptop for machine learning. Bros you need a very high end laptop with a dedicated GPU of at least 6 gig, at least 32 gig of ram to do any serious machine learning. A computer in that spec will cost over a million naira. I appreciate your advice. I am not studying it so I can land a job. Working for people is actually a nuisance, I am currently experiencing it. I pray God gives me finance to acquire such high tech devices. |

danthamccoy: OP please ignore the messages above me discouraging you. This is a very interesting and in-demand field, and you will not regret getting in now.
Artificial Intelligence is not in-demand in Nigeria now, but who said you have to work in Nigeria? I have an acquaintance who has never left Nigeria but is working his third remote Machine Learning job.
I am not an expert, but I have just jumped in. If anything, other programming niches are getting saturated. Besides, you don't just go from where you are into AI.
There is a career path, and you develop marketable skills on the way that can land you jobs right here in Nigeria. You can be a data analyst, data scientist, data engineering in Nigeria. You can learn web scraping with a limited knowledge of Python that can earn you money.
This is the best time to become a data scientist. And needing a PhD is a myth. Please do some research.
You can start with your 32 bit laptop too. There is a course I would recommend on Coursera - IBM Data Science Professional Certificate. If you apply for financial aid, the cost of the course would be significantly cut. Alternatively, you can take advantage of a Udemy sale (currently going on) to buy a course on data analysis or data science for around N3,500.
Take advantage of this thread https://www.nairaland.com/5485400/chronicle-data-scientist-analyst Thanks. I have job that I do in line with my schooling. My dream is to solve human problems using my computer knowledge, that's my reason for wanting to learn programming and AI. |

I downloaded a YouTube Video on Python by Mosh and I bought a course for it on Udemy.com I prefer the YouTube Video because it doesn't require any more data download but udemy does. I am a Computer Science Student. Is there anything I need to know. I have a 32 bit Laptop. Is it too expensive to learn? How do I become a professional in AI? How much time should I dedicate to it? Is it usable in Nigeria/Africa? The seniors should guide me please. |

PeaceJoyLove: I do. There is no need to share mine, but I will share what people should look into.
1. For youths, the best way for visa these days is student visa. Forget about visitation. Since we are looking at 2023 before next election, you must get out before this time. If you already have your masters degree, it's time to go for phd.
2. If you are rich here and you are making it, just try to save seriously and buy any of those citizenship in EU or on Caribbean Island. Look at Dazieni, she bought the citizenship of a nation on the Island and she cannot be deported to Nigeria. Few people have huge money, but they think Nigeria will be like this forever. You better quickly use your liquid cash invest in any of these nations.
3. If you are super rich, and you can afford $1million, just file for immigration to the US under investment. Dem no born dem well. They will do yes sir/ma for you at the embassy, point of entry, and "every every" where you step.
4. Get wisdom from Pastor Adefarashin. If you are in Lagos, try to visit Benin Republic and start checking out how to fit in. Also, visit Cameroon if you are in Calabar. I don't know about Niger oooo. Dem terrorists people.
5. Do not attempt Austalia at this time. The govt of the nation is cruel with foreigners during this covid 19. Do not attempt that area oooo. No go area.
6a. The last but not the least: Visit your village and see how you can build a home in the rural area there. Wars do not really reach rural areas. Just hide there.
6b. Learn gardening. Know how to grow vegetables, grains and tubers. Also, know how to raise chickens, turkeys, goats, etc. This option goes with no 6a above.
I have already secured my plan B. I'm in the final stage of executing it. And I will say goodbye to this nation for good. If I wish to visit, i know where to visit and where kidnappers and ritualistics cannot reach me.
Goodluck to everyone. One coward spotted. In the brink of war, there are two major options; 1 - advocate for peace 2 - fight Running away is cowardice, so you will run away and allow terrorists seize the lands your ancestors fought for and handed over to you. I rather not waste my time on you. You can run if you want. You sound more like a woman, and if you are, I am sorry, forgive me for answering you. |

There are situations of workers on the same grade level but were recruited different years.
A member of staff recruited 2 years back will still be on GL 08, so also another member recruited this year. How do you make out the difference between the two workers? I think the steps make the difference. Eg GL 08, step 2.
On inaugural lecture for a prof, that is his/her maiden lecture as a prof as opposed to a prof of 3 years who has been holding lectures and seminars. Abeg nor dae qoute me. Shuu!! Can't you read where the OP said they are of the same level, step and etcetera and they also started the same day only that one resumed in the morning whilst the other in the afternoon. Pls I want to learn. I don't know what it takes to finish inaugural lecture, but I will tell you that two students who got 4.71 & 4.71 respectively are equal same as two new workers who got employed on the same day are equal, it doesn't matter if one works harder than the other or if one resumed before the other. Seniority comes when they receive appraisal ratings or when one is promoted above the other. |

AbaLion: Emphasis on "the north". At no point in history, both pre or post-independence were ibos ever ahead of the Yoruba - Never was and Never will be. There is a reason that Yoruba have never been an inch bothered about your so called "ibo domination" fantasy which only existed in the imagination of an average ibo - the fact that Yoruba being the "head" would never give a damn regarding how the "tail" wags, so long it's stuck in between the legs. The north could be much bothered about ibos flooding her region fill up job opportunities meant for the northerners being the most educationally disadvantaged at the time as rightly expressed by Ahmadu Bello. In contrast, the Yoruba region was the standard template such that it was readily the best option for a lot of Igbos to get the best of western Education. The best of Igbo brains in the mordern era, I dare say, are Southwest trained, Ngozi okonjo iweala, Chinua Achebe, your most prized assets had a bite of the cherry. At a point, during colonialism, A certain Samuel Ajayi Crowther had come back from slavery as a missionary to teach your ibo ancestors how to read and write through the publication of the isuoma ibo premier - Till date, ibos had not shown appreciation, nonetheless, We Muuve!.. Till the end of the world, ibos can never catch up in any academic endeavor. For every 1 ibos produced, Yoruba would have produced 10 (and I'm being reasonable)
-Lion After all these tribal words war, tommorow when it escalates to physical war, you would then say there's nothing to gain in fighting a war. Some of you are elders but you fail to be sensible enough to know that peace at all times should be our priority. |
