PropertiesRe: National Housing Fund Loan by Cotton(m): 1:20pm On Mar 24, 2010
I tried accessing the NHF funds some years ago, there is a company-something homes that had 2 developments at Ikorodu. They were selling them before the buildings were built-I understand that's how it normally works. Well I paid a deposit for 2 bungalows (500k which was 10%). Now they asked me to approach FBN Mortgage Bank and process my loan for the balance. At the Bank I was asked to produce all the documents listed in an earlier post. I couldn't get a proper tax clearance, though I did eventually.

Now, the develpment company is telling me that prices have gone up and my 10% initial deposit is inadequate. That I need to drop some more money. To be honest, I was a bit lazy with the TCC but as I speak, I am yet to see my house. The last time they told me that all houses have been allocated and that I could only get an allocation on another project. I asked a lawyer what to do and he said I shouldn't collect the deposit because it will amount to nothing. I should follow up with them and sort out the mortgage issue. This whole process has taken about 7 years.

I have lost interest in both the money and buildings. Anyway I will contact them and brief you more.

You're progressing. I think the house has given you some very good advices. But you should seriously consider leye1234s suggestion of checking out Ghana. The environment is more conducive for setting up a new business. Anyway do your research well and you should be alright. I know there is a call center operation in Surulere called Contact Solutions but I dont have any more info on it. I wish you all the best.

Madam Akunyili, Well done your action made me remember the track in 'Sound of Music' "I have confidence in confidence ♫, I have confidence in me ♫".  You need all the confidence you can muster to survive in this current presidency.  You are wining & dining with the devils so you definitely need a very long spoon.  You are in the midst of sycophants and you need all your wits to survive and outsmart them.  May the good Lord continue to keep & direct your path.

However, Madam please always give your write-up to professional to give it the suave & finesse that befits an FGN mouthpiece. Please always use the KISS principle.  Keep It Short & Simple (no long story).

Anything you say  "may be use against you' and the government you represent.

Don't get me wrong say the truth the way it is, but say it more professionally.  For instance, a pro would have edited out your information about the exchange with one of your children based in the US or the part that you were commended by some people in the presidency!
Please correct me if I'm wrong but this was an interview. While I agree that certain things ought not to be mentioned but I don't think the interviewee has the option of editing the interview, do they?

Oluwole is the name of an area where fake documents could be purchased on Lagos Island-Breadfruit Street. Documents obtained from there acquired the name 'oluwole'. The name spread to include all types of forged documentation, irrespective of where procured. The notorious area has now been demolished by the Lagos State Govt, however the activities still exist in other areas. I understand City hall and Shitta are a few places where one can still access the services of Oluwole.

As they say, the game never changes, only the rules. cool

BusinessRe: Paid Employment Or Running Self Business by Cotton(m): 9:43pm On Oct 19, 2009
It is better to be self employed, however if you are able to acquire some experience as an employee first it would help you so much. There are disciplines you learn in paid employment which ultimately you'll carry over to your own business and impart to your employees. Starting a business without any experience is very difficult and your first 7 to 10 business attempts will very likely fail. You have to be really determined to build a business and you must have absolute confidence in yourself and your dreams. It is very easy to be seduced by paid employment once your business attempt fails a few times.

You also need to enjoy whatever it is you want to do (self employment). That is the only way you can still keep going when the chips are down and believe me sometimes they will be. Usually you get one big break and then from there you start growing but until that happens you have to toil.

Good luck.
