wingers of ronaldo's quality live on goals. kaka became a best player in the world because he scored 10 UCL goals. take that away from him and he is less ordinary than obafemi martins. players are judged by the individual effort and influence on their team. no one can argue that ronaldo was solely responsible for dragging man utd to win their 9th title. he has started where he stopped last season and he is the cutting edge that seperates man utd from the other teams in serie a. notice how cesc will win the pfa award has died down. such is the quality of the portugese.

@ dayokanu,
for the 6th time in 48 hrs, i still maintain you are confuzzled. u started the grade b team opera when i said ronaldo has scored against arsenal, roma, ac milan etc. your argument was ronaldo only scores against grade b teams and i gave u examples of grade a teams he has scored against. so is ronaldo a world class player or not? put ronaldo and kaka in the football market today and let us know who will attract the biggest pay-check.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 10:02pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ dayokanu,
dont be a knob. this is club football and not the world cup. ranking clubs globally is more tedious as what constitutes a league in nigeria is different from what it is in england. the world cup sets team against each other in a well organised league system and knock out stages. in that manner, u cannot compare world cup competitions to club competitions. try another path. the last punch-line is weak.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 9:54pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ debosky,
i feel your pain. arsenal have always been known to award senseless titles to their clubs. youngest squad, unbeaten run, highest transfer profits, richest club in london, most beautiful stadium in the solar system and what else? if having 2 barren seasons is what u call successful then alex ferguson and jose mourinho are gods. cheesy cheesy cheesy if i may, how is arsenal different to portsmouth in the last 2 seasons? ohhh, i forgot: they won the amsterdam cup and the emirates cup.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 9:49pm On Jan 16, 2008
thank u very much. so which grade b team beats ac milan, roma and liverpool in a single season? which grade b team wins the league that has got liverpool, chelsea and arsenal contesting for the same prize. which grade team b wins 9 titles in 15 seasons in a leagie comprising 20 teams. excuse me, can u name one grade a team in the premiership? maybe there is none in england, i suppose. cheesy cheesy cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 9:43pm On Jan 16, 2008
i saw that part but  iffhs argued that "the period from 1872 to 1990 can only be asssessed subjectively, mostly by using national and international champions as a guide. it follows that teams placed in the individual competitions cannot be taken into consideration, even if their titles were won easily or in spite of many defeats. it is simply not possible to establish a basis for giving all participating clubs an equal opportunity for the period 1872 to 1990."
besides that, it was also mentioned that what you are looking at here, should more or less accurately reflect the teams who have dominated the world of football from 1991 to 2007. That at least, we can admit. so this is the closest ranking one can get anywhere as far as football clubs all over the world are concerned. this is an international body and not a uk based body so respect it. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 9:30pm On Jan 16, 2008
so what is your point exactly? man utd is a grade b team? a team with 9 league titles in the last 15? u can't be serious! the only grade b team around here is bayern who is languishing in the uefa cup competition.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 9:16pm On Jan 16, 2008
orgies or no orgies, he is the best in the planet. romario was a love-vendor and he was the best player in his time. what a player does off the pitch isn't ma concern. ok, ronaldo plays well in grade b matches. it means arsenal is a grade b team cos he scored a brace within 3 minutes at highbury. he also provided an assist and scored a delightful goal at the emirates this season. roma is also a grade b team and yet they inflicted a home defeat to the mighty milan. ronaldo scored against ac milan at old trafford---is milan a grade b team as well? somebody wake me i am dreaming. cheesy cheesy cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 9:09pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ mcomo,
serious or not serious, arsene wenger must win it to satisfy all requirements. ferguson and mourinho has won everything a manager can win at the club level. wenger should win the league cup and at least one european title to be counted as one of the great managers. is it not ludicrous that george graham who managed arsenal for 9 years is more successful than arsene wenger who has managed the club for 12 years?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 9:03pm On Jan 16, 2008
a body known as iffhs(international federation of football history and statistics) made an all-time club ranking that places barcelona as the best club in the world. man utd is 3rd and they are above ac milan, real madrid and bayern munich. i hope this link will educate and enlighten u.

can kaka do this,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ageVkFklL9s
this is ronaldo at the age of 18 planting ashley cole on his ass. show me where kaka has driven past a defender with such technical ability. cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 7:01pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ dayokanu,
ok. lets get serious now. i admit bayern munich is greater than arsenal. what i know is i can name 5 european clubs greater than bayern munich in europe. the clubs are a) ac milan b) barcelona c) junventus d) manchester united e) real madrid. grin grin grin grin grin there's no way any bayern munich fan can argue this fact.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 6:54pm On Jan 16, 2008
look at these arm-chair plastic fans . . . . ronaldo and kaka in a sprint? it seems u guys dont watch football. ronaldo and messi are the fastest sprinters in the game today. ronaldo will take kaka to the cleaners in a 100-meter-dash. can kaka dribble? cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 6:12pm On Jan 16, 2008
techniques? ronaldo can outpace any of these guys listed. ronaldo can dribble more than any of them. ronaldo is better in the air than any of these lots, ronaldo has a thunderous shot than any of them, ronald's ball control is better than any of them and he is a better dead ball specialist than kaka, ibrahimovic and hleb put together.  the listed attributes all come under the umbrella of techniques so sift through it.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 5:40pm On Jan 16, 2008
ritchboy:
then perhaps we have different definitions of technique.
ok when u think of players like zizou or bergkamp, what strikes u about them?amazing technique!!!!!which ronaldo does not possess.when it comes to TECHNIQUE, . . . . players like berbatov, ibrahimovic, kaka, hleb etc beat ronaldo by a million miles.
omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have read many things on this forum but the above comment ranks 1st in the "i am stupid" list. kaka and hleb better than cristiano? i have lost the appetite to continue this debate.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 5:20pm On Jan 16, 2008
playing on both wings, good in the air are all techniques!!!!! technique refers to a player's ability to perform specific mechanical movements such as kicking, trapping or double-footed.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 4:56pm On Jan 16, 2008
dont laugh, mate. mention any player in the same level as ronaldo. an all-rounder who can run the left and right wings effectively, play as a centre-forward, dead ball specialist, aerial ability and run past defenders. messi comes close but he is yet to score from 30 yards with a belter and his aerial ability is non-existent.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 4:44pm On Jan 16, 2008
nairaland is one body that rates ronaldo ahead of kaka. a forum that boasts of 160,000 members is a recognised one. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy i wonder why podolski and luca toni's names werent mentioned.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 4:24pm On Jan 16, 2008
even kaka knows that. ronaldo is the most technically-gifted player in the world. what he does with the ball at his feet is amazing. he has got the highest shots on goal(60) in the epl so it's no surprise that he is the highest goal scorer. the only player a bit close to cristiano ronaldo is leo messi and then its so rare to see messi scoring a belter from 30 yards or scoring headers from corner-kicks. ronaldo's shots have eyes.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 2:44pm On Jan 16, 2008
i understand. may the best team win the league. cheesy cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 2:14pm On Jan 16, 2008
so many comedians on this forum. jackal awards indeed. talking about divers, i dont think anyone does it better than pires, fabregas and henry(when he was a gooner). ronaldo is a better player than kaka and 1 billion heads in the world are drinking to that.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 2:06pm On Jan 16, 2008
dayokanu:
NOTTHINGHAM, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Man Utd are better than ARSENAL because the UCL is the only thing I am bothered about.
well, thats your own opinion which does not count. aston villa and nottingham forest better than chelsea and arsenal? i have lost the appetite to continue this debate.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 1:54pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ hnic,
nice try. u should be a politician. arsenal played 9 london games in their first 11 league games at the start of the season. it has never happened anywhere in the football world. i give props to the fa for fashioning a brilliant start like that to help arsene wenger and his bunch of sorry kids. what do u expect when u play many home league games in succession? the law of average must come into play and pits away games in succession to balance the odds. cheesy
fit robin van persie? what about fit paul scholes and fit gary neville?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 1:45pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ dayokanu,
i still maintain u are confuzzled. just like u can mention yourself, loyika, mcomo and others(jealous ones), i can also mention millions of people that reckon ronaldo should have won the awards. but lets leave it at that. its a new season again. what has kaka done this season to even show he merited the awards bestowed on him? cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy we all saw how ronaldinho ruled the world being the best player, zidane, luiz ronaldo and rivaldo all made massive impact for their clubs but kaka had to wait for pato to help his team won the first league game in as many as 5 months. kaka is a genius. cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 1:30pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ dayokanu,
pls dont bring in celtic here. those are grade c leagues. bayern plays in a grade b league. lets stick to countries that are allowed to play 4 clubs in the ucl and not countries that can only play 2 or 3 clubs in the epl. celtic and porto have won more in a less competitive leagues so dont bring them in.
secondly, so u agree bayern was the best in their time? i applaud you for coming out to say that. without a doubt, bayern was the best team in the world in the mid 70s. they won the ucl in 74,75 and 76. in short, germany was the best football nation in that period cos they also won the world cup in 1974.
today, bayern is not the best so i believe we should drop the curtains on this debate. thank u!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 1:20pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ wormedup,
welcome to this debate. you are the 6th dude to say i argue like jackal. jackal must be the only intelligent man utd fan on this forum.
@ topic,
yes, fifa is very biased. making a player world's best on the back of a single competition is like a glitch in a matrix. kaka was insignificant at the world cup, didn't show up in copa america and had the worst ever league campaign for a striker. darren bent had a better league performance than kaka. cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 1:13pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ hnic,
good argument. the only reason why arsenal and man utd are tied on the same points as we speak was the slow start caused by rooney's injury and ronaldo's suspension. even with that, united has won more games and scored more goals than arsenal. this was a team that scored a single goal in the first 3 league games in august.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 12:47pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ ritchboy,
dayo will not answer that because he knows his ideas has got a glitch. his theory means aston villa, hamburg, steaua bucharest and red star belgrade are all better than chelsea and arsenal. if this is not the craziest comment on this forum, somebody better explain what insanity means.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 12:33pm On Jan 16, 2008
Jids:
I hope you realise how much millions of pound united is owning, the Glazers borrow money to buy the club that is the why they have to put in their very best to be competing if not, they will be like old united ´LEEDS UUNITED
man utd won 8 league titles before the arrival of the glazers. your point barely carries water. please come up with a better punch-line.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Jürgen Klinsmann To Step In As Bayern Munich Coach by Cougar: 12:20pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ dayokanu,
brazil is the best team in the world because they have not failed yet to play in the world cup. brazil is the best team in the world because of the number of world class players they produce year in year out. brazil is the best team in the world because they always entertain. man utd is a better team than bayern because they have won more titles(domestic/international) than bayern munich. man utd is better than bayern because they always seem to qualify for the ucl every season. man utd is better than bayern because there's stability/financial success in the club that has made em one of the richest clubs in the world.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 12:08pm On Jan 16, 2008
@ hnic,
listen to me like u have never listened to anyone on this forum: it is imperative arsene wenger wins the carling cup this season. if u win it, it takes the pressure off and u can build something from there. man utd won the carling cup for a start before becoming the english champions. be that as it may, i think i belong to the school of thought that believes a team with class should win the title.
anelka-shevchenko-drogba(class)----------rooney-tevez-ronaldo(class)---------adebayor-eduardo-bendtner-walcott(not good enough).
SportsRe: Arsenal Vs Ac Milan : Expert Analysis by Cougar: 11:49am On Jan 16, 2008
@ dason4life,
dont worry yourself about arsenal. they have lined up their excuses should they fail to win any title this season. take your pick,
a) no one thought we would be where we are
b) we are still rebuilding
c) our players are cheap; wenger operates on a very mean budget.
d) we cannot spend 60 million like chelsea-man utd-spurs.
e) our kids are still young, god bless them . . . .walcott will soon become careca. cheesy cheesy cheesy
