You’re the one who’s been on the defensive. All of the people that answered you previously said nothing wrong. Because your child was born in the US a while back still doesn’t qualify him/her for Medicaid.

Do you work in the US? Do you pay taxes? Does your husband does any of both? It not, then no, you or any of your offsprings are not eligible for free medical care. Where do you think the money that Medicaid disburses to the hospital comes from? The government? No, it comes from tax payers like me. We don’t even have a say in it, whether we want to be taxed for Medicaid or not... they tax our pay regardless of if we like it or not. 35% of my salary goes to different state, federal and county taxes. The annoying part is that despite being taxed for Medicaid, I can’t use the service. Reason? My family makes to much to qualify for it as it’s for low income families and families that live below the accepted poverty line. And someone will now come and claim US citizen child and eat my hard earned sweat? Does that even sound fair?

And yes, Justwise was right, accepting Medicaid will jeopardize your chances of renewing your visa. This is the era of looking for the most flimsiest excuses.

firstly madam I have a sister that is a cardiologist in the US am sure she earns more than 5 times what you do, my mother in law is a senoir nurse too so I am not coming to take " YOUR" hard earned sweat.

I personally have no interest in any aid if the supposed sum was something I could afford at the moment. The purpose of Medicaid is to help people who at that moment CANNOT NOT WILL NOT afford to pay their medical bills.

And on the issue of visa renewal, if that will be the price for saving my child's life, then what will be will be.

Madam, so sorry to hear about your toddler's illness, hope he is feeling a lot better now.

I couldn't but notice your response to @justwise. Depending on your view of his comment, I don't think there was any passive insult in there. It's understandable if you felt his comment wasn't in line with what you wanted to hear. it's a public forum and everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Back to the matter, if for any reason whatsoever, you have earlier paid tax or contributed to the US system, then you just might use the Medicaid (taxpayers funds). As for me, I'd advise you to work out a repayment plan as this was an impromptu event.

Thank you for replying, your reply has enlightened me on
what medicaid is and my child's eligibility.
The only issue is have with the payment plan is the hospital told me that the discount is only for 3 days and subsequently after that I will have to pay the regular fee of 10000 that is excluding doctors fee, pathology and radiologist fee. It seems like discount has a timeline and is not usually given in the case of a payment plan.

Surely it will and should affect your chances of getting a visa again.

I think its morally indefensible for you to claim Medicaid when you have not for a single day worked and pay into American system.

Take a payment plan and sort out your bills so as not to make life even more difficult for other visa applicants.

Am not sure you understood what I said, i haven't had my baby yet and I have not owed a dime for any child.

The sick child is my toddler who I had a while back, not a new baby and please next time if you cannot pass your message without throwing passive insults you can skip from answering. I did not predict that my son will be rushed into the ER.

I don't know if anyone has had a case like this before, I travelled with my toddler that was born in the us to have my second baby,on the flight here he caught a serious virus so I rushed him to the er when it seemed like he was looking consciousness.
We stayed for a few hours as he was placed on IV and some test and scans was done on him. He was given intravenous drugs then we were discharged.
On leaving, the billing department gave me a bill of up to 10000 but said I could get a discount that will make it about 900, the shocking part was when I was told that I still had to pay for a separate doctors fee, pathology and radiologist fee.

I am thinking of collecting medicaid on his behalf since he is a citizen and wasent just born now.
I will appreciate anybody that has been through something like this to share.
Will it affect my chances of coming into the us again?

I applied for my mom a first time traveller and she was denied today.
I gave her a copy of my data and visa page but the vo didn't even look at them.
They just asked her what she does and how many kids does she have, then asked her how old was her last born.
Am travelling in a few weeks and I really need her help, can I reapply immediately and what did she do wrong.
Nb: She just clocked 50.

So u get complimentary hotel with the ticket is it? then d visa, do i process on my own or Emirate covers it? Tho I may not need it cos d layover is really short

Yes the hotel was complimentary, and If your layover is short then there is no need for that or a visa because you wouldn't leave the Airport.

Am not using a hospital in NYC.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by covbrand(f): 3:12pm On Jun 06, 2018
I used Emirate last year at 34 weeks and will use them to new York next month, they accept only a doctors fit to fly and you must have copies because you will keep presenting it at every stop.
When coming back the infant ticket is about 160 dollars or less, cant remember and you will be given a baby bassinet.

If you mean the poe at Dubai incase you are getting a hotel, I think emirate covers the visa fee into Dubai. I always got complimentary hotel accommodation on my return leg.

Eilenora:
hello guys.

so I am trying to prepare a budget for new york delivery and I need some input from u guys.

so far I have been able to get costs from wyckoff which covers hosp, physician, epidural and pediatrician (9,500 for natural). distance from hosts' is just 45 mins which I presume isnt bad. i have flight ticket cost and also costs for visa on arrival ($190) from my research so far. so I am now trying to determine costs for birth certf (?), USA passport (is this 165 regardless of state?), pediatrician post delivery (), infant ticket on Emirates (), additional lab tests (awaiting hosp response on if my test results will be accepted from Nig and cost implication for any additional tests)..

anything I missed out besides living expenses, transportation and baby shopping?

does anyone know if Emirate has issues flying at 34 weeks? on their site it only talks about getting a medical cerf8 but how about in practice, what really occurs? also the ease of attaching an infant ticket to one's ticket.

POE issues (if any) upon laying over in Dubai as well.

Any one that can assist in helping me populate my budget will really be appreciated please.

I am a woman too and we always know when something is wrong.
this guy is all shades of wrong, he is a scammer and all those ladies know he is only with you for the papers, heck, he might have used the money you sent to take them clubbing and laugh at you.

In Nigeria, fraud is a cultural thing, most mothers and fathers are involved. they will string you along till they get the papers while arranging for a new bride in the village for him.

I too have been overweight but I lost it,and you can too if it affects you, but believe me there are tones of men who love fleshy ladies.

On the aspect of cheating, for most men it's a morale boost for them, it is not your fault.
when my husband started cheating on me I was so angry and bitter, but I looked at all his friends and noticed a lot where like him, they even count pu**y like trophies. It can be a blow to you but it's actually a reflection of their shallowness.
for the good men who don't cheat, it's not usually because they have Kim kardasian at home, it's a thing of choice.

I hope you understand that you need to be whole before you can be in a relationship.
goodluck in finding a good man, he might just be next door.

Mamatukwas:
Hi People,

Finally Got into Chicago few days back... Yup used thier POE smiley

1st thing... Didn't have a new doctors report since when I flew into U.K. Early February, so just wore a Big coat and prayed that nobody at the BA desk will ask me for Fit to Fly and fortunately they didn't.

Flew Heathrow to Chicago.. Got in by evening...very short line:

CBP: Hi. Passport pls. What are you hear for?
Me: Maternity Leave. I'm having my baby.
CBP: Oh. Do you have other kids? (As if e no dey see am for system tongue)
Me: Yes.
CBP: How Much did you come with today?
Me: $5,500 and I have my cards
CBP: Which hospital are you considering using?
Me: Currently, John H.S.
CBP: Well it's not a crime to give birth in the US. But we will need to confirm the cash. Come with me... na so she carry me go secondary inspection... Oh boy it was like a parry ova dia grin
The place was full with all shapes, Colours, sexes, nations, religions and sizes...

One black boy sitting next to me was shaking like who was waiting for his flight home sad... I sha sat down, commited every into God's hands and faces CNN. After about 40 mins they called me.

CBP: Do you know the rules about giving birth in the US?
Me: (Ha I tot we came to confirm cashsad ) I said yes.. Pay all your bills, no tax payers money. The guy said and? Me: That's all I know.
CBP: You don't know all the rules, let me go and get them... na so e waka go print am show.
CBP: Do you have insurance covering giving birth in America? Me: No I do not.
CBP: You are supposed to have! What if something happens to you or the baby that requires $100k to fix?? Are you telling me you will pay? Me: My understanding is that no matter how much your bill is be ready to pay. Worst case set up a payment plan but pay cash. CBP: Shakes head. Lol

CBP: Do you know what medicare is? Me: I have an idea. His Neighbour CBP: Said nope, you know, because you researched it and plan to use it. Me: I just started smiling really wide and said HOw? Neighbour CBP: Waka commot (His work there was done)

CBP: Looks at list- Do you have a referral for medical treatment here from a doctor in Nigeria? Me: No. CBP: Your supposed to have. Me: I don't have and then I keep quiet.

CBP: I see you've had 2 other kids in the US, so you just normally come to have your babies and go? Why the US?

Me: As I stated before (coz they had asked me this question when I came earlier in OCT) I have a condition called preeclampsia with all my kids, after loosing my 2 1st pregnancies my husband and I decided to go for better medical care... (wanted to add that US also gives dual citizenship but the guy had moved on)

CBP: So how much do you have with you today
ME: $5,500
CBP: That won't be enough for childbirth in the Us. Have you paid any medical bills prior to now? Me: No, however I was told when I visited the hospital that my bill would start from 5k up as a base figure. I and my husband work so sending me additional funds won't be an issue.
CBP: Which hospital told you 5k is the base fee:
ME: J.H.S
CBP: That's a terrible hospital! Why would you come all the way to use me J.H.S?
Me: Really? It's terrible? That's not what I heard? Anyway when I came in October it was the one that was most easily accessible.
CBP: Said no it wasn't, you must have researched it. ME: I kept quiet coz what he said was true about the research.
CBP: You are supposed to have all the cash for your medical treatment now... you are not ready. How do we know you can afford it.
ME: I've paid in full for accommodation, as I said this is just starter park funds, I've had 2 kids here and have always paid my bills.
CBP: Show me proof that you pay your bills. Me- Brings out reciept for 1st 2 payments...

Kai my hand is paining me.. smiley Let me rest small and come back for part 2. Someone send me Ayamase and very white rice in the mean time.. ayam hungry. Kilzes.
P.S- Forgive any typos.

his dear how much does John H stroger charge now for normal delivery. had mine may last year it was 3200. don't know how much and I intend to go the year again.

hi everyone I just want to make an enquiry, I had my baby in chicago last year and before I left the hospital is paid all my bills and got a zero balance. two months after I got to Nigeria I received a call from the people I stayed with that I had another bill that was for my baby.
I quickly transfered money to pay for that to my aunt and kept on calling to confirm, but the hospital claimed to never have sent it.
I called again today and was told that the bill had gone to a debt recovery company.
I just called them and they say I can pay with my card. I am making the payment tomorrow.

I want to know if this will pose as a problem for me in my next visit this year and how do I handle it. thanks

I didn't post anything yesterday because my baby was fuzzy, so I will share my meals for today and a few beauty tips I think works.

Breakfast
porridge yam

lunch
spagetti

dinner
nil

RESULTS
though my meal was carbohydrate filled, I eat in really small portions, and I breastfeed which burns calories too.

BEAUTY TIPS
a paste of baking soda and water can be used to exfoliate the face. it's mild enough to be used twice a week.

so today I tried to watch my portion even though just as an average Nigerian my meal was carbohydrate packed and I have to consider the fact that am still breastfeeding.

Breakfast
*rice and fish

lunch
* ice cream and Pancakes

Dinner
* nil..

RESULT
I got more calories than I needed and my meals were mostly unhealthy but I hope to be better tomorrow.

I gave birth to my bundle of joy on the month of may; and more than three months after I haven't lost a single kg from the 29kg I gained during pregnancy. Before I became pregnant i weighed 76kg but currently I weigh about 99kg.

Ordinarily, I thought after giving birth all the weight will drop like dominoes, but that has proven not to be true.

I have tried to take walks and cut my diet but none has really worked for me; I think it's mainly because I have been very inconsistent with my pursue.

so I decided to start this page to show my battles and journey through this labyrinth.

You only have two choices.

1. Stay with her.
On the knowledge that she's a cheater and will do it again and again.

2. Move on.
Knowing that you will sleep easy as no one is cheating on you.

It is not an easy choice. She is your true love. No on can make that choice for you. Unfortunately, sometimes your true love doesn't love you back. I am testament to that. I have also tried to end my life over mu true love.

But if you choose option 2, you need to cut her off. The longer you have no contact with her the stronger you will be. Otherwise, she will be like a drug to you. You will crave her attention, when you get it you'll be high. So the best way is to cut off the "drug supply". Over time without her, the cravings will fade. You will move on.

Also, be honest in yout next relationship if you have one. Let the lady know that your ex is your true love. You need to be honest in everything, so that you don't pass on the hurt that has been done to you.

Bless and good luck.

you always speak like a kid that knows nothing about emotional discipline. who tells their next that their ex was their true love? NOBODY IS IRREPLACEABLE. and op, people only hurt you when you give them that power, learn to love with a healthy level of detachment. when I was younger I always felt showing people how much you loved them was the trick to keeping them, but the older you grow the more you realise that NOBODY loves an over expressive person. Op as for that lady, leave her because she has already lost respect for you, no amount of begging can correct that. this is the best time to find yourself and know what you want, pain is one of the fastest way to aquire maturity. I pray God gives you the fortitude to grow. more grace.

Romance / The Reason Why Men Only Love Their First Love by covbrand(f): 7:13pm On May 17, 2016
LOVE IS A GAMBLE, IT'S A DICE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES MORE THAN ONE SPIN TO MAKE A SIX.

One of the reason I think people should be careful when dating or courting is because we as human never forget what caused us pain. When we get heartbroken or experience something that causes us pain we tend to remember them more clearly than times of joy and bliss. This remembrance makes us very weary of anything that remotely looks like what caused us pain.

This is mostly seen in men, that's why most men find it very hard to love anyone as much as their first love. When they give their all to the first woman they love, they open their mind so freely and innocently and in return expect to be loved like that. But that is not always the case, as they may end up hurt and scared, and in some cases they totally lose their ability to love ever again.

This kind of people cannot be emotionally connected to another person again. They are emotionally unresponsive and could be out rightly manipulative as they deem. One minute you can't get enough of their love, the other minute you can't seem to get where you stand.

For most men this cycle only ends when they become parents, they will then pour out all the love they have on their daughters;because they believe that their love will always be reciprocated. Loving your daughters is important but in a dysfunctional family it becomes impossible to prevent envy and rivalry.

It works the same way with women too, but women have more innate strength to heal and move on completely.

The only way a man can move on from this painful position is for him to grow in strength and forgiveness. And to accept that something are beyond our control and power. LOVE IS A GAMBLE, IT'S A DICE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES MORE THAN ONE SPIN TO MAKE A SIX.

I used to live in the same hostel with this people, and believe me this man's wife is a very quite and scared person. she is very withdrawn. this man has always been beating her, locking up her children and starving them. I remember during my project defense time last year November I was about going jogging as early as 5:30 am when I came downstairs to see this woman who just gave birth lying down outside in open air. I asked her why she would expose herself such way only to be told that she was locked out all night by her HUSBAND! !!

As if that was not enough, one day while coming back from another jog, I met this lady and her 3 children outside with the door with the door locked. the baby of a few weeks didn't even have water to drink and this was harmatten season. I had to boil water to give the baby.

this man didn't start today, and I blame the woman for not being woman enough for her kids. to me she killed that baby. am so pained.

I wouldn't say I understand how you feel, but I do know what it is like to be hurt emotionally because you don't meet certain "exciting" criteria that excite women. but based on your story most of this ladies you dated where students and naturally were in the phase of thier lives where anything exciting would have appealed to them.

Secondly, the time line of a woman and a man isn't the same thing, most of this ladies probably felt you wouldn't be ready in time to wife them which led to the decisions they made.

don't make permanent life decisions based on something that is the normal metamorphosis of life.

RiloKiley:
Hehe bro, was about opening a thread with a kind of similar topic. Guessed u beat me to it.
What happens when u find yourself inna situation where u and your spouse don't see eye to eye on long term situations. Its easy for those who have never been in these shoes to say "you should have discussed this during courtship" bla bla , but the truth is life is not black and white. When you are in a relationship in which u like this person and you feel it can lead to marriage you start closing eye to a lot of things. Even your own friends will advice you that you can't find the exact perfect person. You look at the matter wholistically and decide that you can live with the little flaws the lady or guy is exhibiting and then you go ahead and marry only to find out that after the euphoria of marriage the flaws become even more glaring and life threatening.

I stated in a previous thread that my wife is lacking in the gratitude department. Saying thanks for a help rendered is a very big thing in my family. We show gratitude a lot. Wifey's family, not so much. For someone who grew up with this habit it irritates me no end when she doesn't acknowledge the help I give her. I have tried stopping any assistance but I honestly don't have the heart to see her suffer.
So I endure.
A friend of mine cannot spend a day out of his house. His wife will raise hell and highwater. But his business requires him to travel a lot. In fact he hasnt been promoted in the last one year cos he has been unable to meet the target set by his company. His wife would rather the family remain stagnant than for him to spend a weekend outside.
Another one is having similar issues as you. His wife would rather buy the most expensive clothes and jewelry than allow the house suffer small so he can build their house. It had always been his dream to move into his own house by the age of 40. Doesn't seem like its going to happen anytime soon.

What happens when u find yourself in a marriage with someone who cannot identify with your feelings about what marriage should be about? Someone who cannot encourage you in your long term goals?

@tearoses I enjoy your contributions in issues like this. Pls don't be offended that am calling u out again. Also tv01 or is it TV001 grin. Abeg contribute.
Oga based on experience, I know that the only thing that would work in this situation is for the man to stand the heat from his wife and focus on what he is doing. Don't tell her what you plan to do, just do it. Stop being weak.

When you educate a woman, you educate a nation. Irrespective of what happens after school, education is crucial to development, and who is better at passing knowledge than women. Most of you don't know how difficult mothering is, that's why you can talk this way. Not everyone is made to be career minded even most men aren't. So therefore what she does with her certificate doesn't matter, what matters is you give her quality education that YOU CAN AFFORD.
