Negative reviews doesn't necessarily mean bad feedback or low rating, when a client ends a job there is a section upwork asks the client if they will recommend you to others, it's on a scale of 1-10, if the client chooses anything less than 8, it might affect your jss score, especially if you don't have a lot reviews (i.e if you haven't worked with a lot of clients that has given you 9/10 or 10/10 in the past), so if you don't have lot of jobs completed with feedback anything less than 8 there will have great impact on your jss score.

What you can always do is be 99% sure that clients are 99% happy with your work. To know if a client is satisfied with your work, when you are done with the client work asks him/her if there are anything else they want you to do or if there are any changes they want you to make, some clients may not be satisfied with what you are done but just proceed to end the contract because they don't want to stress you or complain, where they catch you is the "recommendation page" where they will select 7/10. Other clients ( mostly new clients) don't know that anything lower than 8 on that page might affect your jss. What you can always do is hint this clients before they end the project ( if you are sure you satisfied them), tell them anything less than 9 on that page will affect your score. ( it's against upwork rule to force them), so just know how you will put it to them just to make them aware. Worked for me a lot of times

it didn't affect me, i had like 8 good reviews before then, so the one didn't count, also upwork flags client account if it has too many bad reviews, so if you get bad review from that client it won't hurt your jss. I have never dropped from 100% jss since i joined 3 years ago.

I already sent you the steps. For those who might want to open same:

Visit any GTB branch and fill an additional account opening form.

Requirements
- ID card (Voters card, NIN slip, International passport)
- Utility bill (not older than 3 months)
- Two referees with current accounts (any bank)

I got the reference form and gave it to my referees to fill before going to the bank. This saved me the stress of visiting the bank twice. I'm trying to attach the document here but it looks like it's not allowed on Nairaland.

PS: This step is from an angle of an existing GTB customer. I don't know if it applies to those who do not have an account with them.

There are two ways to go about registering your business name with the CAC; online and offline. I took the offline route (visited their office) because I tried registering online and I encountered some payment challenges due to the inefficiency of their payment platform, plus other discouraging news I heard about the online process.

Note that the online process is cheaper.

So here is the cost breakdown:

ONLINE:
- Name reservation: N500
- Registration: N10,000

OFFLINE:
- Name reservation: N1,000
- Registration: N17,000.

For those with GTB domiciliary account, please did you buy dollar from aboki and deposited physically before being able to use the account because I'm not understanding this message.

Make your profile 100% complete, add portfolios, take on smaller jobs for reviews sake, make sure you apply to jobs you are sure you can do 99%, once your first few jobs result in a not too good feedback from client, it won't be easy for you to recover and it will be harder to get newer jobs.

I only had one client who tried to scam me after using me for two weeks, he went on and gave me a very bad review after realizing that scamming me won't be easy, that's the only stain on my profile, since then i got wiser, i check client rating before applying to jobs, i also check clients feedback.

Tips to get badges is everything i have posted on this thread.

I didn't really have any challenge, the only one would be when i had an on-site full time job in lagos and i had to multitask

Congratulations. Any tips for those of us without a badge? I know you encountered some nasty clients who are not satisfied after you've delivered job, will go AWOL after job delivery without releasing payments, etc. How did you deal with them all?

Also, what are the tips you will advise for those aiming to reach the same milestone you just did? What challenges are worthy of mention and how you overcame them? I'm not talking about how to apply for jobs. I am asking from a perspective of someone who has a long-term plan on Upwork.

yes that works when you are the first 2-3 to submit but once people with stronger profile start submitting yours starts to go down.

Iwon't advice to apply to job with more than 10 proposals if you are just starting up. Your proposal will be kicked down by upwork algorithm, meaning your proposal might not be the first 5 the client will see when he checks proposals for his job posting

I thought the possibility of proposals been seen is how fast one submits it. I didn't know the top guys are favoured irrespective of their proposal being submitted late.
