Caracta:Lol...I was just indifferent about this Christianity-Atheist stuff...I had so many unanswered questions troubling me as of then. (I'm sure you can remember) But as of now, I'm a christian. |
benkings:That's because most atheist and non-christians ask questions not for the purpose of learning, but to mock whatever answer given to them. Believe me this can be so frustrating, thus most people who cant handle the pressure tag you as an agent of satan. and in a way, I'd agree with them. |
benkings:Nope its not evil. |
emmyskies:Lol...you intentionally refuse to quote the scriptures in a biblical discussion...how then do you expect people to learn from your post absent biblical references? emmyskies:And you that know so much about the scriptures, why do you find it very difficult to quote it to back up your arguments? emmyskies:Ok then...tell us which biblical evidence when it (tithing) was introduced. emmyskies:Please don't misquote the scriptures. Abraham wasn't ordered by anyone to pay. Secondly the tithe Abraham gave to melchizedek was a tenth of his what he plundered from the war he fought and not his belongings. It was more like a thanksgiving offering to God for making him victorious in the war against Chedorlaomer and the kings of Sodom. emmyskies:Kindly post a bible passage of paul telling the early church to pay tithe as you claim in your post above. emmyskies:You mean this passage? Genesis 28:20-22 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: 22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee. Note God never asked Jacob to pay any tithe. Jacob made a vow to God of his own will and ability. Just like the passage below. 2 Chorithians 9:7 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. Jacob gave a tenth of his belongings to God not because God requested for it, but because he saw it as a fulfillment of a vow he made personally with God. The only place where God specifically mandated people to pay tithe was in the cas of the israelites (see my previous post). emmyskies:Lol...sure thing and Jesus nor his disciples never bothered to mention it even once. Sure thing indeed. emmyskies:The spirit has already given me understanding. emmyskies:Lol it may be clear to outsiders, it certainly isn't clear to you. I would give you valid biblical proofs to show you that Jesus abolished the law of moses. John 8:3-6 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. Let's also see. Matthew 12:10-13 10 ¶And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. 11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. Now according to you, if the law wasn't abolished, why then did Jesus prevent the adulterous woman from being stoned? According to the law she ought to have been stoned, so are you saying that Jesus broke the law by allowing the woman live? And in the second passage would you accuse Jesus of healing a paralyzed man like the pharisees simply because he broke the law? In case you don't know Christ abolished the law of moses because it was no longer relevant. That's why we no longer offer bulls and goats as antonment for our sins, because christ has already paid the price with his blood. emmyskies:Yes tithing was never a law...I stand by my decision until you provide valid proof (apart from God's command to the children of israel concerning the levities) of Jesus asking us to pay tithe. emmyskies:Lol when next you quote the bible for references purpose, be honest enough to quote the full context. That passage if you read from verse 6 was God speaking to the children of israel because they cheated him by not giving the levites their rightful share of his blessings (tithes) hence he (God) made that statement. I'm not surprised the way by which MOG have turned and twisted it to mean the church of our generation in order to milk gullible members dry. emmyskies:I would stop when you stop...until then we'll continue to quote each other. God bless you also. |
frank317:Lmao...the op should answer. |
ihedinobi2:Its much clearer to me...thanks. |
emmyskies:Permit me to interrupt. I want you to understand why tithing was introduced in the first place. Numbers 18: 8-10 8 Then the LORD said to Aaron, "I myself have put you in charge of the offerings presented to me; all the holy offerings the Israelites give me I give to you and your sons as your portion and regular share. 9 You are to have the part of the most holy offerings that is kept from the fire. From all the gifts they bring me as most holy offerings, whether grain or sin or guilt offerings, that part belongs to you and your sons. 10 Eat it as something most holy; every male shall eat it. You must regard it as holy. 11 "This also is yours: whatever is set aside from the gifts of all the wave offerings of the Israelites. I give this to you and your sons and daughters as your regular share. Everyone in your household who is ceremonially clean may eat it. Also see verse 21-24 of the same Numbers 18. 21 "I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the Tent of Meeting. 22 From now on the Israelites must not go near the Tent of Meeting, or they will bear the consequences of their sin and will die. 23 It is the Levites who are to do the work at the Tent of Meeting and bear the responsibility for offenses against it. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. They will receive no inheritance among the Israelites. 24 Instead, I give to the Levites as their inheritance the tithes that the Israelites present as an offering to the LORD. That is why I said concerning them: 'They will have no inheritance among the Israelites.' By reading these passages, you would understand why God asked the israelites to tithe. emmyskies:It was abolished cos it was never recorded anywhere in the new testament that Jesus or any of his disciples payed tithe. emmyskies:They payed tithe because they ejected Jesus and continued with the law of moses which permits burnt offerings and tithe. They saw Jesus as someone who created confusion and blasphemed against God which made them conspired and killed him. The church in Acts of the apostles never payed tithe; instead they spent their time ensuring that no believer lacked. Acts 4: 32-36 32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. 34 There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. emmyskies:The law was abolished. Otherwise explain why the curtain in the temple tore in two after christ's death. Matthew 27:51. 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. Secondly tithing was never a law...God used it as payment to the levities because they weren't expected to own lands, join the army, own cattles...etc emmyskies:So are you saying that the early church robbed God? There weren't tithing according to the new testament, can you categorically say that Simon peter and the rest of them robbed God? |
ihedinobi2:Please tell me more cos I'm already becoming like how you once were. Don't get me wrong, I'm a still a christian, I observe my early morning and late night devotion, its just that I'm tired with all these church stuff. You miss fellowship for a day, and you're tagged as the worse sinner. You read the bible from an android device and you're referred to as a carnal fellow. I understand the sense of belonging you spoke of, but can't stand being judged by my fellow man. The Nigerian church of today has become a court house, where christians spend their time judging and condemning souls rather than winning them for God. Sister charity sees sister Ada on leggings in the market and that automacially become the next topic for sunday's service. Brother Jude spots brother Philip in a bar, and all hell is let loose. The self acclaimed righteous people in our churches today is what makes it stink. What defines a man is his ability to make rational decision regardless of what his beliefs are, his honesty, integrity..etc. From what I've observed less than 1% of religious fanatics possess these traits |
hisblud:Why has the op has refused to answer this question? |
Lol the pastor don enter one chance...what was his reply? ![]() |
NairaMode:You're right, the black man sees every problem he encounters in life as a spiritual one. You fail an exam, reason...devil. You weren't favoured in a job interview reason...devil. All your siblings are married and at 38 you're yet to find a husband reason...devil. You were traveling and your bus had and accident, reason...devil. You are childless after 10 years of marriage reason...devil. I can go on and on... The African man just like our clueless president papa jona uses the devil as an excuse for his failures, rather than getting rid of the canker worm called corruption that has eaten every bit of integrity in his government, failing to keep the hundreds of promises he made to Nigerians in order to get their vote, he's asking us to pray. And some foolish ones would gather and stave themselves (fasting and praying), and what do they (leaders) do in return, they increase their looting, their lies, their dishonesty. In life the moment you refuse to admit a wrong choice you made which led to your immediate condition, you would find it difficult to move past that stage regardless of how may days you spend praying, fasting, rolling on the floor and knocking your head against the wall. Nigerian leaders must admit that they're all thieves and looters, they must admit they have betrayed the people's trust and failed in the promise to uphold the vows they took when they were sworn into office. Without that, I'm afraid that even if we pray from now till eternity, nothing would change. NairaMode:I agree with you. Unfortunately I'm afraid that your efforts might hit a brick wall cos Africans are the most brainwashed creatures on this planet. What I've observed in Nigeria is that if you question a "Man of God" you're evil and hell awaits you. If you ask probing questions about unclear message in the bible, you're evil and hell awaits you. If you try to enlighten people to be logical in their reasoning...you're evil and hell awaits you. Little wonder how an uneducated MOG can frighten a university don (prof) into believing he would spend an eternity in hell simply because he refused to share a certain 10% of his income with them. I was at a revival service in a church where a man who claimed he died and went to heaven was ministering. He (the man) went as far as telling us (the congregation) that makeup would lead you to hell, weavon would lead you to hell, trouser would lead you to hell and many more awful stories which I can't remember at the moment. Then I asked myself. Why would a God who sent his one and only son to die for the redemption of mankind condemn his creation to an eternity in hell over a mere makeup or weavon or trouser...I felt like hancuffing the preacher and sending him to a mental asylum. But then I thought again, that message must have sunk into the hearts of so many religious mothers in that congregation. Now rather than raising daughters and teaching them what integrity means, they spend a lifetime forcing them to put on "mary amaka" skirts, making them look like house helps all in the name of making heaven. Africa truly has a serious problem. |
Caracta:Hmm...don't tell me you're still saving money inside kolon. ![]() |
Salary is something you negotiate once and take home once every thirty days. Job satisfaction on the other hand keeps you happy every minute of every day. So ideally a good balance of both is required. But there is no doubt in my mind that of the two, job satisfaction is definitely more important. It is the one thing that keeps you motivated. If you are motivated, you perform better and you grow. If you grow, you become even more satisfied. |
Yomieluv:The question is "what's the salary scale of the Nigeria police" and not how much they (police) make from road side bribes. Next time try to read and understand a post before hitting the reply button. |
cannonnier:The average soldier doesn't pay house rent, cos accommodation would be given to him in the barracks. He has medical allowance that covers him or any direct family member (wife or kids). He doesn't pay a penny for public transportation, meaning me can move freely across the state. He has all the time in the world to engage in some other business which can grant him and his family additional income. So I really don't understand what you mean. |
esmeralda1:Team work ability simply means the ability of a team member to make every member of the team feel important, included, and motivated to be the best team you could possibly be. When a team player lacks this ability, then the team fails. Let's look at a football match. Its the responsibility of the captain to ensure that his players respect each other, motivate each other, and get along well with each other. The moment one player begins to feel above the rest, the team begins to loose matches. I hope I answered your question. |
ITbomb:Lol that why its called a rough estimate. If he tells us the institution he has in mind, then my estimate would be more accurate as a result of my knowledge about his chosen institution. Isryl02:I believe my post above has answered this as well. |
Joy83: It varies with schools, but I believe with 500k, it should cover all expenses.Bro calm down na...do you want to scare him off? 500k haba...he wouldn't need up to that. @op I would give a rough estimate of the total cost. Tuition fees, it shouldn't be more than 120k. Acceptance fee and any other payment that would be required. 20k Dues, department, faculty, accreditation etc. shouldn't be more than 10k. Accommodation (depending on the state) shouldn't be more than 80k So roughly you would need like 300k. Note: this estimate is restricted to federal universities...its highly likely to be more expensive if you're planing to run the program in a state institution. Good luck. |
enesty: Please I have been applying for jobs for sometime now and not even a interview have I been called for.please I need the good people and cv gurus of this thrend to help me look into my cv and rewrite it please,I beg in Gods name, thanksHello bro... There are so many reasons as to why you were never called for an interview despite the fact that you've been submitting your CV. I will try to explain some of the possible reasons. 1. COMPETITION: With the high rate of unemployment in the country, and the very limited jobs on ground, there is a lot of competition for every job opening. So when you come across an advert on the paper, bill-boards, television...etc, not everyone who applies can be invited in for a face-to-face interview. That means that only those job seekers that the prospective employer feels have the best qualifications will get the call. It’s simply a matter of supply and demand. 2. You lack the necessary skill to execute the job: Most job applicant apply for jobs simply because they don't want to be jobless. Most feel they have the necessary skill, unfortunately, they don't. It’s the difference between feeling like you can do the job (with a little training) versus actually having the specifically requested work experience and skills. The candidate who falls in the category of the latter would definitely be invited for an interview. 3. Wrong CV syndrome: If I may ask, how many CVs do you have? If your answer is one, then you need to rethink your job search strategy. The all-purpose CV which majority of job seekers make use of when applying for a job is a thing of the past. The best way to find a job is to create a CV to match each job posting. This should increase your chances of getting invited for an interview cos you would be able to describe your skills which would be of great importance to the particular job you're applying for. 4. Poorly designed CV: The worse thing that can ever happen to a job seeker is to submit an unprofessional looking CV that has been poorly formatted, is filled with typos or has poorly constructed sentences. This would portray you as an unserious candidate unfit for the job. Good luck. |
2015 batch A is already running on the thread below...I'm sure you would find lots pf people in similar situation like yours. Good luck. https://www.nairaland.com/1895871/prospective-nysc-2015-batch |
Hello bro. I just read through your thread, and believe me I understand exactly how you feel. If there's one thing I've learnt in life, is that you can only move forward...being stagnant or moving backward would lead to more damages. Now to your issue...telecommunications isn't that bad. I would advice you to give it your best, cos you have no excuse not to excel in your course of study. In case you aren't aware telecommunications is kind of related to engineering...so in a way, you're still on track. The issue of failing in your career path should be the last thing on your mind. Cos if you see yourself as a failure, then automatically you're a failure. But if you see every opportunity in life as a ladder or stepping stone towards your success, then believe me, you're not far from the top. Greater heights awaits you. Good luck. |
Cashio: tnks bro...buh part time would cost muchTrue but you would have enough time to manage your business. Unless you've found a way to be a full time student, have time to attend lectures, manage your business and still maintain your grades, I would still suggest that you pick a part time form. |
Cashio: i am 22 yrs now and i'm yet to gain admission(not cos of dull brains though). Presently, i repair generators though i am planning to start up a small scale crayfish business by january(buy in bulk and sell to resellers). My problem is this.....owing to the fact that if by God's grace i finally gain admission by next year or so, i would graduate around 27,28,29yrs, can i still make it at that age?....should i focus on building. on my present plan or focus on education......my major concern is the possibility of making it if i graduate at that late ageToo be honest I'm impressed by your zeal to excel in life. You have a hand work (generator repairs) that's great. You're also planing to start a crayfish business...excellent. In my opinion, I would suggest you go for a part-time course. (Most universities don't indicate regular or part-time on the certificate they issue) In this way, you can maintain your business, and still educate yourself. Good luck. |
Owiii: I have been working in this company for a year now without no employment letter nor any form of I'D card. I work as a Service Engineer in this company, and it's a tricycle assembly company. To be honest, I don't seem to get much experience that will help push my career to the next level and besides the pay is poor for a graduate. If you weren't given any official or temporary identity card, or offered an appointment letter, and the pay is poor like you stated, worst of all it has zero skill acquisition in regards to your field, then what in heavens name are you doing in such place? Owiii: I am thinking of attending this IDPE training.Good idea. Owiii: I want to ask if the certificate is recognized in the oil and gas industry and my chance of employability. I studied Mechanical Engineering in school.Of course its recognized...I would advise you to go ahead and register for it cos upon completion of the program, you will have the industry-specific knowledge and training you need to excel in your field. Good luck. |
shumuel: Honestly the Chinese wont stop to amaze me, i just found out from one of their soap operas a funny and crazy ProfessionLol...this Chinese people wouldn't cease to amaze me. I aware of the fact that Nigerians can do anything for money, but this...I simply cannot fathom. |
oncheckent: I had always treated the matter of tithing very seriously. When I received my first salary I wanted to gave all I had but somehow I did not and it bothered me for a long time. Whenever things did not go well with me I thought it was because I did not give my first fruit offering. On my second month salary I was unable to pay my tithe talk much less of giving all I had for the first offering cos I was knee deep in debt. With time I started paying my tithe every now and then, sometimes I would skip a couple of months and feel really bad with myself and during the months I paid I was always expecting abundance simply because I had given my tithe.May God bless you for this post. |
A similar thread already exists, you can join the discussion below. https://www.nairaland.com/249270/electrical-engineering-aspirants-practitioners |
zleemshaddy: Hi, please am a science student that just left secondary school, i intend to study biochemistry but recently came across a grown up that also studied the same course, due to the way NIGERIA, no job ,he now owns a cafe, please i need your advise if anyone also studied the course if there is hope . . .Follow your dream bro...pay little or no attention to the cafe guy. In Nigeria today, provided you're a sound graduate, you can work in any field. Gone are the days when they tell you that you must read banking and finance if you have any intentions of working in the bank and other stuffs like that. Bio chemistry (BCH) is a course that requires concentration so if you truly want to go for it, your road to achieving that dream begins now. Good luck. |
lomy: I have a professional exam next month but each time I try to read I feel like throwing up, no reading appetite again..Here are my solutions... 1. Avoid reading immediately after a meal, if you must eat before reading, I would suggest you take fruits. 2. It could be as a result of you being nervous; your exam is next month and you're not sure if you're fully prepared for the exam or not. (In this case I would suggest you relax your mind so as to get rid of any form of distraction and gain concentration) 3. Try to understand when its most convenient for you to read...could be late at nights, afternoons etc. 4. Time yourself...Reading should be done in bits for better understanding (eg. Read Chapters 1&2, then you take a break, ponder on those chapters and ask yourself possible questions; and be back to finish your task). Good luck. |
breadplanet: Made it and it was baaaaaaaaaaaad! So delicious i added a little cinnamon too. Thanks Crazyman. Jidegirl12: I came accross this thread yesterday , so I just tried crazyman's recipe (12eggs) and men was it ever good? My oyinbo neighbours even eat it sef.Good too the recipe was great... ![]() |
6. Avoid alcohol and friends who abuse alcohol...not being able to control yourself when it come to the bottle would make you wretched and miserable. 7. Having so many girl friends or being a chronic womanizer. You follow anything in skirt like a metal on a bar magnet. You forget that after getting a listening from these girls, you spend money to take them on dates, you send them recharge cards, you send money to their bank accounts...etc. If you practice such lifestyle, believe me it would be very difficult to have any form of savings. 8. Unnecessary movement. Ok fine you've gotten yourself a car (not your dream car) but at least its something. You want to tour the whole state. Today you're in Ikorodu, tomorrow Lekki next tomorrow Abeokuta. These trips are unnecessary but you can't help it. You want your friends to know you've arrived. You pick girls at random, lavish money on them, drive them to their home and park there and begin a 2 hour unnecessary discussion with your engine and car ac on. Weeks go by and your car develops a fault. You've spent so much already that you barely have any finance left for your welfare let alone repair a car. Believe me, you'll become a borrower. |
