Nairaland GeneralRe: Open Letter To Mr Seun Osewa by CrazyMan(m): 12:33am On Apr 29, 2013
Mobsync: This morning at 10:40 am, I opened a thread titled; Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road? in the jokes section. This night, I logged on this forum to find the same joke on the front page with the title; Worlds Leaders Explains why the chicken crossed the road. Surprised, I checked the author and I found out that it was dani1luv- the moderator of the jokes section and funny enough, he posted the Joke at 4:09 pm, almost 6 hours after I posted mine.

My question is; is it right for another member talkless of a moderator to copy a joke originally posted by someone else, change the title and then recommend it for front page?

And if you suggest that he probably didn't copy and paste my joke (which I know he did), then why didn't mine make front page and why did his? Or as a moderator, does he just post topics and recommend it for front page without viewing the jokes board itself for jokes by other people?

I know the fact that you have certain rules against double postings so wasn't he supposed to have used the search box to know if something of similar content had earlier been posted?

And to think of it, my joke is still on the front page of the jokes section, so he can't say he didn't see it.

Why? Why? Why? Why should I be cheated? Why should a moderator repost a Joke I originally posted? Why? Why?
Mr Seun Osewa, call your boys to order. I quietly await your response because I know you definitely would see this topic. Thank you.

NB; no moderator, admin or whatever should hide this post, close this thread or delete this topic. Respect yourself. I dey para sad
Sorry.

I believe he probably didn't see your thread that's why he decided to share the fun with the nairaland community by opening his.

The joke has been broadcasted on bb since the early hours of yesterday anyway, but since yours was posted first, it should have made the front page.

Take heart, and keep posting your news, jokes...etc, and I can assure you that sooner or later, you'll make the front page.

jt2010: @Crazyman, no point for u defending. D undefendable. D poster clearly state d course provider are from usa. So which naija point of view are u now talking abt. Plz tell me which naija university offer their degree online .... No mention Noun because there program still required student to come in for lectures sometimes

brushparke: It is b ecause of people like you that i advise that no one who has serious matter should come to nairaland for solution. imagine your ignorance. If you have ever taken a us based or uk-based online university degree, especially at the masters level, you will no that no Nigerian University can compare in terms of quality of education you get. Even university lecturers in many of the first generation institutions in Nigeria are falling over themselves to take these online courses.
You think they are all very stupid to be spending between the range of N3m-N5m for a degree that is 'useless'.
My advice, even though it is expected from one who agrees to be a CrazyMan, never comment on something you have no idea of, you'll only let your ignorance dance in front of you like a masquerade.

I have a friend who thought he could combine an online masters degree and residency program, but he's finding out the truth. The standard of these online degrees are as good as that taken by on-campus student. So learn!
There are two sides to a coin, that one decides to stay on your side doesn't mean the other side doesn't exist..

If you cannot read meaning to my first post, then refrain from quoting me, post your contribution and leave. Do not derail this thread with your stupid1ty, cos I don't have the strength to begin to explain what I wrote to a simpleton like you.

CareerRe: Are Online Professional Courses Recognised By Prospective Employers? by CrazyMan(mod): 7:12pm On Apr 28, 2013
gistme24: Sir, online degree is actually considered to be more difficult because of the level of commitment and dedication needed to complete the course. Most require you spend not less than 30hrs a week teaching lectures. The only difference is that it is at your own time .

Easy? Most certainly not. If it is from a reputable school with the normal campus / student settings, then the only difference is the means of delivery of the lecture, their course content for online and normal student is the same.
Also, employers don't care if its online or not, in as much as you can defend it and prove your worth.
The major issue is your inability to partake in the NYSC
You're also presenting your argument from an international point of view...

@bolded...true.

But employers in Nigeria would care, most especially if your online degree is from a Nigerian institution.
CareerRe: Are Online Professional Courses Recognised By Prospective Employers? by CrazyMan(mod):
jt2010: @crazyman, u response why d online program will not be recognized is best described as total nonsense and shows u know little abt what u are talking abt.

It take serious efforts and time management skill to be an online student. Mind u all student school works like assignments and course works are submitted via turnitin which check the work are student original work and not stuff copied from d internet. If d turnitin shows more than 30% are copied work. It is automatic F. So tell me how many nigeria university are or can maintain high level of academic standards. Plz alway check ur facts before u put them out in public forum. Op, also check out university of liverpool. They offer well structure online program and ur certificate will not carry any online or distand learning reference.
Maybe you should take your time to fully absorb a post before hitting on the reply button.

My first paragraph about online degree was based on the Nigerian education system.

You and I know that attaining an online degree in a Nigerian institution is arrant nonsense considering the fact that most regulars can't even defend their certificate.

My second paragraph was an advise to him if he intends to do it abroad like he stated earlier.

If you have problems reading meaning to a post, ask for clarifications, and refrain from jumping into unnecessary conclusions...thanks
CareerRe: Are Online Professional Courses Recognised By Prospective Employers? by CrazyMan(mod): 11:02am On Apr 28, 2013
Truth is most potential employers in Nigeria don't accept online degree, and if you're presenting it to boost your already acquired regular degree (B.sc, Hnd..etc) it would in no way serve as an added advantage to you on employment basis.

Reasons why your online degree would be greeted with an austere approach include.

1. Lack of rigor.

2. Lack of face-to-face interactions with your lecturers.

3. Increased potential for academic dishonesty.

4. concerns about online students’ true commitment evident from regularly venturing to a university physical location, considered by some to be an important part of the educational experience.

5. Problems of tests and exams being too easy thereby reducing your learning capability and making you less challenged.

On the other hand, since you're planing to do it in the united states, you should focus more on the conditions that could influence your hiring process in the united states...they include.

1. Name recognition/reputation of the degree-granting institution.

2. Appropriate level and type of accreditation.

3. Candidates relevant work experiences.

Christianity EtcRe: Fellow Christians Please Help Me Out. by CrazyMan(op): 7:13pm On Apr 27, 2013
JeSoul: If I may interject briefy...intriguing replies - especially from Obadaiah.

@Crazyman,
If the physical life of a christian is no different from a non-christian (they endure the same troubles & enjoy the same joys) then what is the point of God? this is a fantastic question and even the bible confirms this saying "He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." I think Obadaiahs answer is so short, sweet and perfect that it needs to be re-quoted:

A Christian in the true sense of the word is someone who is DEAD TO THIS WORLD.

So when Ihedinobi posted scripture on christians facing persecution & trials he was 100% right.
And when Crazyman countered with scripture on asking & receiving from God, he was also 100% right.

^why? because a christian who is dead to this world will only ask for things that are "not of this world". His prayers are not occupied by requests for carnal, vain, worldy things - but rather his mind is divinely pre-occupied with things of the spirit. And when he asks for these things - he receives them from God who gives freely to all who call on Him in spirit & truth.

If you are a christian - and dead to this world - you will not be swayed by the troubles that come with this world - because "The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever".
and
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal .

A carnal mind looks around the world and wonders how he can better his life circumstances - and he chases after it. A spiritual mind looks around the world and wonders how much longer? because he knows he does not belong here, and he chases after God. Christians should not despise nor occupy themselves with the vain, fleeting affairs of this world. We are here for a short time and as such should make the most of every opportunity while keeping the big picture in perspective - life is a breath compared to eternity.

Godbless! smiley
Ok...this should do...thanks.
