Family / Re: Marriage Has Failed Me! by crespo67: 6:11pm On Apr 13, 2023
Too much wisdom. Unfortunately, the deed is already done, the man needs to stand up and take action now.
CaveAdullam:
1. Number one rule before getting married: check if your in-laws are also "in love" with you. If they are, you'll experience peace from them in that union, if not, trouble galore - don't get married.

2. No matter the degree of love you and your partner share, if it doesn't extend to both families, either of you will be used to fight a proxy war.

Many intending couples do think they are the exceptions, hence, they go ahead with the marriage rites even though the main family members are not at peace with the union.

3. Love conquers. But you see family, they are the foundation of every person you see out there. They share blood. They share a bond. They share secrets. If they perceive you aren't worthy to become one of them, just leave. There are many other men/women you can have a good and sweet relationship with, and that have lovely families.

4. Your husband isn't bold enough to put a period in many absurd sentences in the family. As the eldest and as a married man he ought to be your protector. Although, a contributing reason is that he isn't wealthy. Only poor husbands or men are being tossed like a table tennis ball in every family.

5. If your in-laws are not threatening your life, you must encourage boldness in your husband. Open yourself before him and let him see your vulnerabilities and how frightened you're in the marriage. He must defend and protect his family. Even if he's not a millionaire, there are masculine virtues he must imbue himself. He must call the shot in his family and let them accord you your respect.

6. You must also build your confidence. Be brave and bold. Don't allow any family member to treat you as a doormat. Stand firm. You have a home to keep and a beautiful daughter to protect. Be strong for yourself and your family. Know when to apply peace. Know how to deliver violence. This will make obstinate and troublesome people stay aloof from you.

7. Nigeria's economy/world economy is as useless and hopeless as ever before, however, both of you should hold each other tight and walk through the storm together. Look for possible trades to do.
It doesn't get easy as you move further. It gets tougher, but more strength, experience, wisdom, and liberation.

8. If your marriage becomes life-threatening and unable for you to catch little molecules of oxygen after you must have tried all notable things to aid the marriage, please, divorce.
A divorce is never a good option. But at least it will save your life rather than allowing that life to grow weaker and eventually die in the end with no peace and joy.

Thanks.

Hello People..

Is there anyone here who has recently landed Canada with COPR and is unvaccinated?

How is landing without being vaccinated, is it still compulsory to stay in the hotel for 3 days?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thank You so much Mama...I will take time to digest your response.
GraciousWords:

Bottom line is to be prepared to go whenever they say "oya" grin

Alternatively, you could do a remedical as soon as your previous medicals expire with or without a request/extension from IRCC. That way what they have on file and have hopefully assessed, (there is a medical assessment backlog apparently and upfront medicals are no longer required for FSW outland applicants (provided an LOE is present)) will be 1 year into the future. Soft landings are supposedly not permitted now anyway.

My understanding is that once they issue you a COPR & visa with a validity date, you MUST travel before that date. COVID-era, if an applicant cannot fly because of travel restrictions and COPR expires, then the applicant needs to wait for IRCC to re-issue expired COPRs....in that scenario you are at the mercy of whatever validity date IRCC puts on the re-issued COPR and visa

HOWEVER, this person says she asked IRCC for an extension though, so it might be possible.....this was pre-COVID: "I also sent an email to London VO requesting for COPR validity until January 2020 because our medicals expire in November and we weren’t sure we would have enough time to land."

Hi all
Been awhile here. I would like to ask, how does one get to extend their medical validity for another one year just incase one is not ready to travel when PR is issued and doesn't wanna go do soft landing.

Thanks for your response in advance
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by crespo67: 9:14am On May 14, 2021
I personally think the request for remeds is a blessing in disguise. It technically buys you another one year of medicals being valid. Only God knows when they will start issuing PRs again. If your PR is issued say a few weeks before your current medicals expires, it will mean you just have a few weeks or days to get ready and travel. But with an extended medical validity, you have enough time to plan for your trip.
Ikepooni:
Hello all,

Please I need advice. I just got a re-medical instruction on my profile to be done in the next 30days.

The problem is that my medicals are still valid. My AOR is OCT 15, 2020. I did my upfront medicals on OCT 08, 2020 and passed my medicals on Nov 26, 2020. I still have about 5months to expiry.

I’m confused as what action to take. Kindly advise please.

Anyone with a similar issue?

She has a great profile. Just tell her to evaluate her transcript using IQAS or ICES(a few people here have confirmed positive evaluation of their law degrees as a professional degree using ICES, but ask more people). She also needs to take the ielts and try to max it out LRSW 8.5/8/7.5/7.5. Her husband also needs to take the ielts and aim to get a minimum score of LRSW 8/7/7/7. And also evaluate his degree with WES. For more information, visit page 1. All the best to your sister.

Yes, you can add your spouse post AOR. Your marriage certificate is all you need to show for your application. No need for wedding pictures. If your marriage is brought to question, you most likely will be asked to visit the Accra visa office for an interview were you will prove the legitimacy of your relationship. In that case, old pictures, emails, whatsapp chats, text messages etc will be enough proof. So you can have those ready, but hope it doesn't come down to that.

Very correct analysis. I don't know what the fuss about the new French additional point is. The truth is that most people will still not attain a CLB 7 after one year. Dor most people who attained a CLB 7 under the old regulation and got 30 extra points would already be in their high 480s or 490s. At that point, 20 extra points are inconsequential, except the person is already past 40 years old. Summarily, nothing really changes due to the new French extra points.
abnot:

It depends. There are a lot of people on 468, 469 and 470 who were hoping to get invited on wednesday. This category of people may have to wait longer.
Then there are a few between 472 and 475 who were sure that an invitation will be extended to them. This category of people will be the most affected because a one month delay in draw will likely move the cut-off from 471 to 472.

Thirdly the number of French proficient speakers in the pool with a CRS score of between 460 and 470 will be a major determinant as these applicants will receive 10 extra points which will place them in the range of 470 to 480. In 2019 there were 9450 french proficient applicants out of 213000 applicants which constituted 3.8% of the pool. Same in 2018 (3.6% of pool were french proficient). If that feat continues the number of french proficient candidates in the pool will not significantly change the cut-off score in the short term .

Lastly for bilinguals, with or without this change most bilinguals score above 470 and may have already been invited.

In summary a safe CRS in the short-term could be anything from 475 . This is just my guess based on the limited data available online

This is correct. Thanks for pointing this out.
Mamaroon:

Thanks! We don't actually need our birth certificates or birth affidavits for eAPR though (as the passport shows identity and age) so your sister likely never needed it unless she was claiming points from another of your siblings....just guessing.

It only comes to play for you claiming points from your sister perhaps.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by crespo67: 9:06am On Oct 24, 2020
My thoughts exactly Mamaroon. People use affidavits in place of birth certificates all the time. My sister has always used an affidavit in place of her birth certificate.
She used it in applying for her PR and she is a PR now. The lady can easily get the other supporting documents from her cousin(sister). The most important thing is whether her cousin has been consistent in stating that her aunt is her mum. If she has, and also has an affidavit to show her aunt is her mum in her birth affidavit, then we don't need to talk about adoption, she is her mum. And the lady here can claim sibling points without any fears. In summary, I would advice the lady to ask her cousin and be sure she has been consistent in all her applications. I will also advice her to speak to an immigration lawyer, but that na money sha. I wish her all the best.
Mamaroon:

Updated post.

I'm assuming for a minute that there must be some underlying legal docs that supports your cousin's affidavit and also that she has consistently stated you as a sibling and your mum as her mum.

Given the foregoing, has anyone used an affidavit as proof of sibling relationship? See below but it looks like it was accompanied by attestation of birth or baptismal records...guess they were biological siblings.

https://www.nairaland.com/5471101/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/198#84823368

https://www.nairaland.com/5031893/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/119#76510686

It seems IRCC accept the following as evidence of identity and age (which I guess, helps corroborate sibling relationship): passport, travel doc, birth certificate or "statutory declaration as per IRPR178" (could an affidavit be an acceptable statutory declaration?). It may be advisable to get legal counsel for this though.

Hi Mamaroon, I think since her cousin(sister) didn't mention adoption in her own application(unless she did), there will be no need to bring it up now. As far as CIC is concerned, her cousin's biological mum is same as her mum. Also, she needs to confirm if her cousin has been consistent throughout her application in indicating that her aunt is her mum. If she has, then she really doesn't need to bring up adoption since her affidavit indicates her aunt being her mum.
Mamaroon:

see this link, you can search for "sister" or "adoption".......the answer you seek is there.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html

Proof of the relationship of the applicant or the accompanying spouse or common-law partner to the family member must also be provided (e.g., a birth certificate, an official document naming the applicant as a relative, a copy of the inside back cover of the relative’s passport showing the relative’s parents’ marriage certificate, legal adoption documents and any other documents that prove or describe the relationship).

Then you are good to go. She has indicated that your mum is her mum on her affidavit. She has also filled your details in her applicationas as her sibling. I believe you have nothing to be worried about. I would say please go ahead.
