ndubuis: Times are different now. Desperate times, everyone is desperate to make money. Bolt is no exception. They no longer make as much as they use to due to the impact of coronavirus.
They have absolutely nothing to lose by making a terribly low fare even lower at the expense of drivers and car owners. It means more money for them while the drivers suffer and sweat it out in traffic. Only an idiot rider will opt for standard fare when you have economy, same car? It doesn't even make sense.
I'm sure if Bolt goes ahead to reduce fares, Uber will follow suit. The suffering continues for drivers. Economy means no ac. We all ride with the windows down. If rider ask, you just tell them they are flying economy class. |

deedee44: Drivers will rush back to Uber, small time Uber too will introduce their own craze and drivers will rush to the initially abandoned bolt. Sometimes I feel like Uber and bolt have meetings on how to keep using drivers to play ping pong Without a ping-pong there is no table tennis. Without the drivers uber/taxify is nonexistent. Until the drivers realize how important they are in the grand scheme of things and unite to get that desired change that they so wish, nothing is going to happen. |

Babadee1900: He gave them the password to his phone, the one with it was searching through the phone while the second was asking questions. Rider is clean and well spoken, told them what he does and every necessary details about himself. He was with his laptop, he offered to turn it on for them if they are not satisfied with what he’s told them so far or seen on his phone.
When they saw that it was a bad market, nothing to use against him, they changed it to why didnt we stop when they flashed me and trying to run away from them, he told them he was rushing for a meeting, that we’ve been driving fast from Ikoyi.
One of them turned to me and said ‘why did you not stop for us’? I replied him saying: I’m just doing my job.
He didn’t say anything. They requested to search the car, and the guy, they did their thing and when they didn’t see anything incriminating. They said we’d let you go because of your cooperation. ...……...................
This experience almost gave me a heart attack, my heart was beating really fast when one of them stood in front of my car with handcuffs. Different thoughts ran through my mind, like what have I done wrong , I didn’t commit any traffic offense or is it now a crime to drive fast ?
Immediately I completed the trip, I went offline and proceeded to the nearest bar to drink chilled Guinness to calm my heart These people no go kill me. .......................... Is this how efcc operate now? But what I don't understand is, are you suppose to stop for every car that flash you down? |

Olayetan: Bros, you ain't cabu cabu that moves around waiting for passenger to flag them down.
Stop moving around and be looking for request, its not done that way on uber/bolt.
Just wait in a safe area and request will surely come to you, don't be carried away when you wait for too long (an hr or maybe more), still wait there and definitely a request will take you out of there.
And also, try identify movement time in your area, i believe residents are within your neighbourhood, make sure you don't just drive out without request, put on your app anytime you want to work in the morning and make sure it is request that will take you out of your house to anywhere and if you observe where the request take you to is industrial area, then look around for the close residential area and position there for the next trip.... The bolded is very good advice. |

pope191:
I love driving, but I don't think it will ever get to that... I was just fortunate to b getting within trips, if there's one tin I've always known in dis bussines, those that live in lekki have a great advantage compare to those on the mainland, no matter how a bad day goes on the island, you will still take sometin home unlike when mainland choose to fustrate one, from yaya abatan to adeniyi Jones, there to opebi, from opebi to alausa, then back to adeniyi Jones, up next - magodo, then one will sleep well b4 next within magodo trip 7 trips 4 thousand naira I miss d good old ole days, from mainland to island, do within till 4/5, gently set destination, while I drive towards V.I and position under surge, won't pick any trip not worth 2k5. Okay. You're really doing okay. I target 2.5k - 4.5k per day minus fuel using InDriver alone and it is practically impossible to achieve considering the time I close (7pm) from work when on morning shift. I really need to get uber activated. What's holding me is that there's a scratch on the driver side of my car and I need a spare tyre. ...if only InDriver has set destination feature. The other day, I blew empty from vi to ajao. Plus you have a lot of people playing with the app. |

pope191: I call dis destiny boss, u have to keep to d promise at the same time make best of ur time... I've been in this position b4, took a rider from awolowo rd ikoyi to shoprite ard Oniru and they ask me to wait, I don't get? Ride is just 800, pay me and let me go, they said "Please wait, I feel more comfortable for u to take us back", dats with the 2 kids she have with her, so I ask how long? she said " Maybe 1 or 2, don't worry we will pay u", hmmm! Pay me!! ohk!!! No negotiate, just words on trust. Me! That's having heavy head, I can't stay in such sun and surge b waiting for 2 hrs, so I was just doing lekki and mariner trip, hoping I'll plead for 10/15mins when they r ready, as fate will have it I make 6500 doing dose trips, coupled with the 3k plus I've made before picking them. I was just ard Oniru when her call came in, dis woman spent 4 good hrs plus, I still took her to badore when she was done shopping, before dropping her off at Pick up, imagine if I have waited that long leaning on hope... Las las! Time to pay, I bill dem 15k, she smile if I want to kill dem, let me pay 5k? Ma! R u whining me ni, 5k how? See let's just do 12... Back and forth we settle for 10k, after paying, she was looking like someone that lost sometin "Oh! And I have to buy voucher, but I don't have any cash on me", I just look her won kind, sha take 500 go and get card. She thanked me like oh! U are such a nice person bless day to say d lest, set destination trip to Ogba and immediately get Berger ard 3k. Oh my Bolt, how I missed thou
So next time boss if I were in ur shoes, the restless me will take my chances, worst I'll text the rider to leave a 15 mins notice before his set to go time, cos I need to eat and may stay ard the food joint. I did sometin stupid yesterday, tho it was intentional. Found myself ard ogunlana yesterday, so I was thinking if I should go to brown street to share Vodka with Defortune, when dis request beep, rider was going to circle mall lekki, I don't know what came over me, cos it was ard 9:12pm... I just told her straight, I can't go, but will try if she's willing to pay 5k. That's how I face lekki ard 9:15pm, got dia ard 9:48, and this girl is using me to play I don't know she's not the one paying, I have to wait for the guy thats coming to pick her to make payment, I was so mad at her, she was just begging. I left lekki ard 10 with heavy heart, but seeing other road users heading same way, boost my moral we all meet 3 road stop and search blocks, I honestly don't want to experience such again in my life, it wasn't easy leaving one fate in the hands of police. When you said doing lekki and marina trip was it just picking random passengers or platform trips? |

@digimarketer: what's the algorithm you use in calculating your fares, in comparison with other apps, the price is just too low?
Eg: Pick up: 20, Moradeyo street mazamaza Drop Off: 33, Bisola Durosinmi Etti dr. Lekki
Bolt: 2500 - 3000 (2250 with commission) Uber: 2500 - 3300 (2550 with commission) In driver: 3100 (without commission) Your app: 1535
The riders and the ehailing apps are winning over the drivers. |

donfortune48: I set out from my house (off brown road surulere) around 5:30am aiming to clinch bolt's morning bonus. 1st 3trips that came in are over 10mins pick up time, while their destinations are showing as surulere. I rejected.
4th trip was going to Fadeyi, with 13mins pick up time. I decided to go cos I've rejected many. Called rider to tell him how long it'll take me to get to him, he said he can't wait and cancelled.
5th trip came with no destination, called rider and he was going to diamond estate isheri. Egbeda was my base before I relocated to surulere Feb, and I know how difficult it is to get ride to better places from their, coupled with the traffic, coming out of Egbeda in the morning. I decided to go offline. Told rider that I can only go for 3k. He agreed and we proceed.
Dropped him off in less than 40mins, turned on my app. 1st two trips that came in were going to abule-egba and somewhere after abule-egba respectively. I humbly declinned.
I went and packed close to good luck Jonathan estate.
8th trip came in, showing Ajeromi ifelodun as destination. I cancelled before it could ring half, but it came back again, I accepted. Called rider, he was going to satellite town. ...told him I can't go beyond alakija; he cancelled. The trip came back again, he cancelled. I turned off my app for 2mins, turn it on and it came back again, I cancelled. It came back again, he cancelled. It came back again, he cancelled. Turned off my app and started driving towards Gowon estate, half way towards Egbeda bus stop, I turned on my app again, same trip came in, he cancelled it came again like 3 times; he cancelled. Before another one came in from Jemade estate to Lagos island.
Dropped off rider and took another trip to Ikoyi, then went home from there. That's how my morning was spoilt oh!
I'm in my room now cooling my mind, body and spirit wirh Vodka.
..."ll continue by 3pm. How much fuel did you set out with? |
