radautoworks: You didn't even need a new one. https://www.nairaland.com/4803326/misdiagnosed-weird-milex-carquest-rad/1#76601150 Initially the problem the car had was a rough idle with the idle cluster going up and down especially when the ac is turned on coupled with constant vibration. So the throttle body was serviced and the blue gasket changed, the foam in the pix was also removed...problem was still there. Eventually the technician had to open the black plastic thingy attached to the valve itself and he noticed a magnetic thingy that controlled the opening and closing of a latch inside the valve was bad so we did a total change of the unit...rough idling stopped, vibration reduced, but now high idling started. |

Please for those who know. Why would any mechanic do this? The pix is my idle control valve. Though it has been changed but ever since the change I have been having high idle speed.

aaronson: Do a complete servicing of your injector fuel syetem, thorough cleaning of the throttle body both inside and outside with injector cleaner and not break oil. Lastly check for vacuum leak, if that checks out then what you need do is reprogramming idle. When the last service was done on the throttle body it was thoroughly cleaned with a solvent called tina...the throttle body came out looking new. The only thing is that the iacv (toks) that was replaced was not cleaned before installing it. I am thinking this could be the probable cause. Called the guys who did the servicing they asked me to come with the car next week. Though not sure if the injector was touched. |

chillex8: Ideally, rpm is programmed to be above 1,000 on a cold start until warm up, then settles between 600-800, depending on the motor.
When you load your compressor, rpm climbs back up by 100-200 and goes back down when compressor goes off.
You will need an electrician to reset yours back to factory settings.
Honda CR-V is drive-by-wire.
P.S my little knowledge. I'm not sure I understand much of what you've just said. However I'll give the guys that worked on the throttle body a call maybe they can figure it out since they specialize on the electrical component on cars. |

jceesquare: I strongly believe the IACV is the culprit, but still check for vacuum leaks, scan the car, and most importantly report the issue back to the guys that worked on your throttle body. Okay. Thanks. Will give them a call. Hope to visit oyingbo next week. |

jceesquare: 1000rpm is still too high. The damn thing just won't stay. I thought I had been able to figure it out but I noticed that each time I turn the car on after I let it rest a bit it shoots up again. To get it back down I need to on the ac for say 5-8sec, put it off, and then the rpm begins to drop. I guess the next thing will be to check for vacuum leak like you suggested as I have already serviced the throttle body and changed the iacv. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Crvrider: 10:39am On Jun 22, 2019 |
jceesquare: 2000rpm is way too high. I'd advice they take a look at the throttle body and idle control system. Also let them check for vacuum leaks too. I have been tweeking and messing with the throttle cable, not sure though, but I think I have been able to get it to 1000rpm without ac on. But with ac on it hangs around 800rpm. Will observe and see how well it works. Thanks though. |

Please for those who are experienced or have any idea, why would a mechanic use foam to block one of the chambers in the iacv? Went to oyingbo to change my o2 sensor so luvinhubby hooked me up with some guys there. While the o2 sensor was being changed I complained about experiencing rough idle so the throttle body was removed and thoroughly serviced only for the technician to remove the iacv to find out that one of the chambers was blocked with foam. I also read somewhere where someone had this same thing done on his car. Please was it done to manage a problem, if so what type of problem is that? However, since the service was done and the iacv changed, I have not had issues with rough idling and when the ac is turned on the idle no longer fluctuates. Although one thing I have noticed after the service is that I have not been able to idle consistently at 1000rpm no matter how much adjustment I do except when I put on the ac for some sec before it normalizes to 1000rpm. It usually starts higher (2000rpm) then settles down to 1500rpm. Thanks. |

dru23: That is not what you are suppose to be using.. With the constant wear and tear of the car .. You will need better engine protection. Meaning better oil ... with me for example I use Mobil 1 extended performance oil .. The oil is good for 15k miles oil change... and I change my oil every 12k miles and I use fram oil filter, that is also good for 15k miles.. So the total amount I spend is about 19k naira for every 12k miles .. Now sit down and compare with your own ... The math only means he will use Mobil 1 every 5weeks since 4weeks equals 10k miles |
