Saw this piece online and thought to share. I think as an uber driver, you really don't have to take sh-it from any rider.
My sincere apologies cos its a pretty long read.
As an Uber driver, have you ever needed to kick someone out mid-ride, and did the company back you up after?
Yes… Three times in four years.
First time, I picked up a couple at a food truck after bar closing. I told them they couldn’t eat in the car. She says, “no problem, we are just getting it to take home”. But he was grumbling about it. Then, about a minute after I start driving, I hear chewing. He has pulled a hot dog out of the bag and starts eating it. I said, “I’m sorry, no eating in the car.” He says, “Look, I paid for this ride, and if I want to eat my food before it gets cold, then that’s what I’m gonna do!” I immediately pulled to the curb and said, “Fine, you can do it outside. This ride is over.” He got very verbally abusive and didn’t want to go, but fortunately she coaxed him to get out and call another Uber.
Second time, I made the mistake of letting in a group of very drunk girls. I said, “Are you guys ok? I don’t want anyone to get sick during the ride.” They said, “Oh, no, we’re all fine!” But within minutes of starting the trip, one of the girls rolled down the window and stuck her head out. I immediately stopped and she vomited outside the window. I said, “You can get out and finish throwing up. I’m ending the ride.” They said, “No, everything will be fine now. You can keep going.” But I insisted they get another ride.
Third time, I had a group of four rich tech execs finishing a night at the bars. When I started the trip, they started giving me instructions on how they wanted me to take them to four different homes. Three of them lived in the city and the last one was about 40 miles away. I said I can do the drops in the city, but I couldn’t do the long trip because I was meeting a friend in about an hour. One of them said, “I feel like you don’t get to do that. You need to take us wherever we tell you!” I said, “You’ve been misinformed. I’m an independent contractor and I set my own schedule. If I tell you I don’t have time to complete a trip, that’s how it is.” Another of the guys said, “How about you just drop 3 of us off and the other guy will get another ride from there.” I said, “Fair enough”, and started driving. No sooner had I started, the fourth guy says, “Yeah, and then we can give you a 1 star rating, file a complaint, and get your lame ass fired!” I immediately pulled to the curb, stopped abruptly and said, “Ride over!” But they refused to get out and started yelling curses at me. So I called 911 and requested police come to resolve the situation before it got violent, as I grabbed a can of pepper spray I keep next to me. They took their sweet time getting out, and of course slammed my doors.
In all 3 cases, I immediately filed complaints with Uber documenting what had happened. The other people filed complaints too, but mine went in first, and I think that makes a difference in how the company evaluates what happened. |

tojahh: Is it not same way plenty of Uber drivers are looking for car to drive and willing to deliver 25k weekly?
Baba I'll advice you buy keke and ride it yourself since Uber car investors aren't making money except the drivers. Exactly the point I was trying to make him see, but he could not read between the lines. And I was only just amplifying what he said. |

brogxy: The bolded is just the fact and that is what I tell investors thinking about Uber, but they think I don't want them to also gain from it ( chop alone). But he is also venturing into a business where you have the highest trust issues. Like with uber you make the money when you drive your own car and not vice versa. So the question I ask is who will drive his keke napep and successfully deliver 25k weekly? Car owners don't make money...what about keke owners |

izzou: Someone is saying he can't be productive if he is given an 04 corolla
But he will make more money if he is given an 07 corolla.
Unless you carry a rider who owns a corolla or who is into auto sales, it's difficult to spot the difference from outside
Theres nothing we won't read here sha Maybe the ac for 07 blows differently from that of the others. |

Omobarca: Please I need answers House. Just call uber nigeria and ask, simple. I also want to believe that ladipo can supply parts for every car, only the cost of parts is another issue. My advice, go to ladipo and do some research. I remember that there is this guy at ladipo, where you have the cemetery, who specialises in Nissan cars. On the other hand what's the worst that can happen to a car: engine, brain box? Then find out what it will cost to buy these. If it will cost you an arm and leg then is best you leave the car alone. |

Those into ehailing I hail una. Went out to surulere today to make some supplies for Honda dw1 transmission oil and it was crazy. Bumped someone from behind today, and on my way coming back I got bumped from behind. Went through about 30meters of really bad road today I felt sorry for my car, for a moment I wanted to pick the car up and just walk the rest of the way. Somewhere around isolo, linking ajao, I spent close to an 1hr45min for a stretch of road that ought not to take me max 15min. I was completely drained by the time I got to work. People doing this job full time, I give una hand. |

pope191: Lol, I'll know about promo and once toll is not added, it's obviously a failed trip. We just have to hope not to meet troublesome rider, nevertheless ikorodu to lekki can never be 500 naira after paying toll 300 thats like 200 naira, make d rider kuku carry the car deh go. Most time I check riders app estimation. I know google map allows you do a rough estimate just by clicking either bolt or uber tab
