As the Election draws very near, we need a
leader with such vision someone who will
value our history and uphold the dreams of
our Fathers, who laid the foundation for our
enterprise, who valued the importance of
practical education. A number of them were
Catechists, traders, but they contributed
money sacrificially to build schools, technical
centres and even sent some of our sons to
European countries to study.
We need a leader who will create industrial
zones, support them financially through
creation of necessary infrastructure,
independent power for those zones, we need
airports, universities (not just one) that are
technically oriented.
We need a government that will value
overseas scholarships for deserving under-
graduate and post-graduate students. A
government that will partner with
industrialized nation to turn Anambra to an
industrial hurb even if loans are involved or
we paying them in kind through other means.
We need a Leader who will build world class
Universities, health centre, stadia and sports
complex, farm settlements, airports and trade
zones, a leader who will support and
encourage each Local government to
produce something that can be exported,
thereby creating jobs. A leader who will value
the importance of a vibrant local government
administration.
The amount of money that came into
Anambra in the past 8 years could do these
things if the vision was there.
We need do not need another Peter Obi, who
has shown lack of vision except for the
establishments where he has personal
interest. His pattern of spending over the
past years leaves much to be desired. His
ideas of development is very faulty. The
infra-structural drive in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi
and indeed most communities are mostly
private and individual efforts.

Pokur my friend, there is no need for all that.

Just don't miss mass beginning from next week.
I hope that this time the 'greetings' from Peter will be reviewed upwards to cover for inflation. Giving me N1000, will be an insult.

Obiano must be installed whether they like it or not. Anambra money must be spent for that course.

Don't spend all and live for today alone, invest because your hope of continued "chopping" in Obi's Obi four to the detriment of development of the state is coming to an end. I promise you that when Obi takes his hands off Anambra revenue it will dawn on you people that the man Obi can't use what he has stolen to feed you. Besides, he will be probed. That fear has been his greatest nightmare and that is the reason he can empty the State treasure in the effort to install Obi x four, Sorry Obiano.
So Kingbang and Co. make enough use of this campaign, whatever share that comes from the thief, invest well!!!

Those of us who loved and cheerished Anambra State had looked with disappointment over the inability of the this administration to see the prospects of Anambra State becoming a place where the whole of Africa come to see and buy ingenuity of the Igbo race. While growing up, my father told me the story of how creative Anambra people were, with particular reference to the decades preceding the civil war, the war period, and immediately after the war. From metal works, wood works, leather and shoe making, and other areas of manufacturing with little inputs from the expartriates to buying and selling of all kinds of wares imported from Europe, America, and other overseas countries that matter. Africa as far as Gabon, Senegal, Cameroon, North came to Anambra to buy and learn skills and crafts. It is not uncommon to see young lads from these Francophone countries learning one craft or the other. I was told of how some men even without formal education could come together and own businesses employing their kinsmen in the process. Beggars and Begging profession were not common because there is something to do for everybody. Port-harcourt, Lagos, Kano, cotonou, lome, all over you find our people doing something meaningful. Together with our brothers from Ohafia, Afikpo, etc Aba, Onitsha, was filled with A and Sons ltd, X merchandise, Y trading company,Q industries, Z transport limited, it was all stories of a determined people.
Educated citizens were not left out, they excelled in Arts, Engineering, Medicals, History and literature. In fact, the first indigenous head of a higher institution in Nigeria was from Anambra State. Schools sports were active right from primary and secondary school, the likes of Mary Onyali started from secondary school in Enugu, the capital of then Anambra State.
Our trained Engineers emphasized practical learning, creativity and enterprise these were exemplified during the civil war when they went ahead to design all kinds of machines, I was told of how some of the European nations withdrew their support during the civil war on seeing the creative spirit of our people, they were quoted as Saying that Japan was a mistake and that they will not allow another Japan( Igbo) to rise up. Worthy of Mention here were the weapon designs done by Engr Ojukwu (UK trained with expertise in most fields of engineering, who was gunned down by the Nigerian army with the support of Britain) and his team.
As the Election draws very near, we need a leader with such vision someone who will value our history and uphold the dreams of our Fathers, who laid the foundation for our enterprise, who valued the importance of practical education. A number of them were Catechists, traders, but they contributed money sacrificially to build schools, technical centres and even sent some of our sons to European countries to study.
We need a leader who will create industrial zones, support them financially through creation of necessary infrastructure, independent power for those zones, we need airports, universities (not just one) that are technically oriented.
We need a government that will value overseas scholarships for deserving under-graduate and post-graduate students. A government that will partner with industrialized nation to turn Anambra to an industrial hurb even if loans are involved or we paying them in kind through other means.
We need a Leader who will build world class Universities, health centre, stadia and sports complex, farm settlements, airports and trade zones, a leader who will support and encourage each Local government to produce something that can be exported, thereby creating jobs. A leader who will value the importance of a vibrant local government administration.

Right now, you can not progress without folks like Uncle Ben because you just don't have the means to do so, uncle is generating and managing the largest in Nigeria IGR for Lagos while a whole Anambra is messing with chump change like N450 million

https://nigeria.unfpa.org/images/IMG_0669.jpg

@ agbameta[/quote]Anambra State IGR is not N450million. That is what Mr Obi with his 'Church mind' leaves in the records.
How many shops are there at Awka, Nnewi, Onitsha, etc?
How many factories are at Nnewi Awka, Onitsha
Have you forgotten that even banks, federal agencies also remit taxes partly to States where they operate?
And the Biblical Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, he increased taxation and government charges when he came to power. You didn't hear of protests by market women and traders to Government house over the neck breaking taxation?
land charges were increased by over 900%, to do C of O for a Land you bought N400k you cough out over N1m. I spoke with an expert on revenue some years back expressing my doubt over what Obi quoting as the IGR, it was then I learnt that it is very easy for a thief Governor to manipulate figures of revenue received from LGAs right to the State and that Anambra IGR is nothing less than N1-1.5 billion.
Will the incoming administration have the political will to probe this Man? If they can recover like N500b from him that amount will do a lot for the State.

I didn't mention the name of any bank. Mr Peter remained a front during that era, he saw money in Anambra State Government. He should stop the story of his Sainthood. I may agree with you Fidelity did not go for outright merger but a faceless white investors entering into some partnership.... then public offer with all the illegalities that went on at the stock exchange at the time.
What about four other banks where he's claimed to be a major shareholder. Guardian Express for instance had to go through some untold humiliation all the name of saving face while the 'Dangote' could not help.
He is now rich thanks to 8 years in Anambra Government House. Now he can afford to float businesses home and abroad, finance properly the existing names . He should be in Forbes list
My annoyance is his going about villages/churches telling people how there existed no Saint like him in Anambra who loved the future of 'our children'.
If you know him personally, tell him to stop that rubbish
Politics › Re: Obi Wasted N2tr Of Anambra Funds - Dr Ngige by Cuche: 6:38pm On Sep 16, 2013
The figures from Ngige may not be totally accurate/correct but nobody should play down on the massive stealing/looting that has taken place over the past 8 years of Obi’s administration. He, Obi was a bundle of deceit and sorry to say, how he succeded in deceiving even the church that he was a saint baffled me. No politician that ever ruled Anambra is/was a saint. None of those performing Governors is a Saint, Fashola, Kwankwaso are no Saints. And we are not forcing them to be, our own concern is do more work, let the job done be far greater than the money stolen nobody will even notice that you helped yourself with some of the cash.
You will be amazed that the amount of money that entered Anambra State over the past 8 years may be compared to the total amount handled by all previous administration starting from the time of Ezeife. What do we get? Bribing of Churches, traditional rulers, and what have you.
Painting of old school buildings and handing the same over to churches, not releasing cash enough for the contractors to do a better quality roads with drainage, minimum wage not paid. While most States are putting Model Schools in all the LGAs, go to Rivers, Delta, Imo and see for yourself. Remember he promised us that his children will school within the State during his campaign.
Some folks were saying that amount of money that his business is now enjoying has been so and that Mr Peter Obi was a Dangote even before coming to Politics. That is not true no matter the unit of calculation for his resources.
He was a convenanted front for some Abacha Era officials/politicians who he answers Sir to. They owned large shares in Banks and Some Security company, appointed him Chairman and payed him in cash/kind for being faithful.
if he was that rich why would those banks he chaired not be able to raise N15 billion initially, and later N25 billion to stand on their own instead of going into Merger. Afterall, bank business at the time was highly profitable, he should have calmly invested since he was a ‘billionaire’ in each of them. What happened then was that the Billionaires using him as front were afraid of putting more money into the system especially when they were not sure of their Stake in the then new Obasanjo era. One of such who we all know how OBJ/Atiku administration frustruated him, that he ran away to France while his oil block was being re-negotiated. He is from either Akwa-Ibom or Cross-rivers. Others are from South-East.
During his campaign in 2002 he could only afford Peugeot 504 saloon cars, I saw the vehicles then and am not sure they were brand new. But after he was in Anambra for 4 years his campaign in 2011 was done with convoys of Brand new Toyota Landcruiser, in fact, during one campaign to Nnewi the stretch of the Jeeps most with Waterproofs could keep an eye busy for 10-15minutes.
Compared to Obi, Ngige(who is also a Catholic) did better and did not go about the churches and communities telling people he was a Saint. Ngige was selfless putting his life/family in danger and in spite of the battles he faced he was still able to work with money available then, not that he did not help himself with some of the State Funds but the job done far outweighs whatever he might have stolen that even OBJ in his hatred for Ngige could not send his Barking and Bitting Bulldog EFCC against him. PETER OBI should be celebrating because the present EFCC is in Coma.

@Odenigbo aroli I don't know may be you are related to Paul Odenigbo or may have had a personal benefit from Peter Obi or whatever. Don't be selfish with your opinion most of us here are Catholic.
Peter Obi is not a Saint he claimed to be. I am not trying to crucify him for stealing and looking for a cover in Obiano. In fact, I may even have more of personal benefit if Obiano wins but I am thinking more of an independent leader that will benefit the whole of Anambra rather than an appendage of Peter Obi who to the best of my knowledge could have done better if was at least honest with himself. So Forget Personal benefit and think of Anambra in General.
So Bros no need of using those derogatory words like "fools" on anybody.
