I am not against those type of spending you just listed because it is definitely what i can do but it is two way street and a mutual action on both partners to me. Not exactly an eye for an eye, a 50-50 thing but the guy takes a significant percentage depending on the culture in place.

Now my gross is this whole issue of it is her birthright, my duty as the guy, not an option to make a choice else this whole thing is not going to work. I have been in an environment where a lady wants to make her hair, do her shopping, load some credit on her phone, she walks unto a counter and do it herself with her money. Now take one of my experience in which someone told me that those things are my duties and to the extent of saying you should be paying at least 10k into her account every month for her care?

That is what i am against, i know my duties and obligations to my family, wife and kids but a gf is definitely a different issue. Paying for movies, romantic dinner or showing some TLC is never out of place but someone should not take it as a duty from me and they should also do unto others what they want others to do for them. It is becoming a one way street in the Nigerian context, always want to receive without contributing or giving back to the relationship all because i am the . . . . . . . girl friend.

Some guys are actually shy, I am serious forget the whole battle of supremacy thingy or respect. Some guys are not used to the dating scene but they act all bad boyish as a decoy. Don't allow pride & assumptions ruin your heart desires. I think you should forget what people think & do what makes you happy. There are decent ways of handling things to yield results. The op is at an advantage because she has been friends with him for 6 years. The worst thing he would do is to tell her he is not attracted to her like that so she is safe. If it were a random person she is just meeting, I would even find a guy here for her asap but she should have a matured discussion with her male best friend of 6 years (not asking out or toasting).

They asked you to wait till next week right? Does your admission letter carry 2 starting dates? I think they are done with September since some were given visa & some were asked to submit new dates so you should hear from them soon.
