The states are simply a conduit for siphoning oil revenue from the Nigerdelta, they have no economic value. Without this useless structure people like Abubakar Malami will be jobless and probably die of hunger.

This is the dilemma. We can hardly afford the current structure. Out of 36 states, less than 6 are solvent. The government devotes most of her revenue in maintaining the process with very little left over (after the usual chopping for growth).

I work here as an oil worker and I'll be honest with you all: IPOB/Biafra has taken over Rivers state particularly Port Harcourt...everywhere you go its IPOB. Anyone telling you that IPOB/Biafra is a SE/Igbo affair is deceiving you. We here on gorund know what's happening here. It's not just Igbos, it's Ikwerre, Urhobo, Ishekiri, Annang, Ibibio, you name it!

As a concern citizen, I think Federal government should as a matter of emergency move to counteract Nnamdi Kanu before this gets out of hand because after May 30th, things will never be the same with Nigeria. You cannot stop this movement by force, anyone advising you to use force is deceiving you. The people following Nnamdi Kanu are not fools; this people, as with us know that Nigeria is a failure especially with the marginalization of SE, and some areas with SS. This is not the time to debate on if the fault is from the leaders of SE or SS, no, rather time for the Federal government to act immediately by implementing these measures below to pacify and make these young men abandon Kanu.

Federal government must do these:

1. Declare May 30th, Biafra Memorial Day and ask the Senate to pass it as a law that every May 30th will be a public holiday. On this May 30th, acting President Osinbanjo will lead the commemoration of all Biafran fallen heroes and heroines, by laying a wreath at the National Square Abuja in their memory. Celebrate it like we do with Nigeria Airforces Remembrance Day. Biafran Fallen Heroes and Heroines are human too like their Nigerian counterpart.
2. A committee should be set up by the Presidential Executive Council to go to SE and fact-find on all federal roads that need repair, expansion, and construction of new roads where needed.
3. All seaports and Riverport in SS and SE; Port Harcourt, Onne, Calabar, Warri and Onitsha should be reopened, funded and allowed to function to full capacity without interference.
4. All International Airports in SE and SS; Port Harcourt, Calabar, Enugu and Asaba should be funded and allowed to function to full international airport standard like Lagos and Abuja.
5. Earmark funds to support local manufacturers in Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi.
6. Most importantly, restructure the oil and gas industry, where states will be allowed to managed their oil and gas resource, and pay tax to the center.
7. Fix the lopsided appointments by Buhari, and ensure that SE, SW, SS, NC, NW, and NE are evenly represented.
8. Do away with quota system in our educational system, and let students who score high marks reap the benefits of their labor.
9. Disarm Fulani and restrict their movements to the North only.
10. All government offices and agencies must have at least one office in Enugu, Calabar or Port Harcourt.
11. All foreign consulate and visa processing centers must have at least one office in Enugu, Calabar or Port Harcourt.
12. Assure them of a new Nigeria in the horizon, and things will be better, and more restructuring will be made in the coming months as more consultations are done.

I ASSURE YOU, MAJORITY OF SE AND SS will abandon Nnamdi Kanu within 48 hrs. These people actually prefer Nigeria than Biafra, so will work with Federal government on a reasonable arrangement and fulfillment of the conditions above. YOU CAN NEVER EVER WIN THIS BATTLE WITH IPOB WITH FORCE...NEVER! YOU MUST USE SENSE; THEIR AGITATION IS BASED ON SERIOUS MARGINALIZATION.

There is nothing like restructuring. That ship has sailed.

Moreover, it's a mathematical impossibility to achieve any kind of equitable restructuring with current lopsided structure where you have 19 states (plus the FCT) in the North (from one region at independence) and 17 states ( from the 2) in the South. This means you have 190 representatives for one region and 170 for the two.

This means that one region has an effective veto on any restructuring. That is why equitable restructuring can never be achieved constitutionally.

I agree with most of your comment but the traditional ruler part is hard to swallow for me. I think each local community and not necessarily the present lopsided LGA should decide how they want to run themselves. Some may chose to be run by these traditional parasites while others may choose a more democratic option.

You are being fooled by the discredited Hamitic hypothesis which purports that all signs of apparent civilization in sub-Saharan Africa are actually due to some wondering light skinned people.

One interesting example has to do with the iron smelting. For years, Eurocentric scholars have claimed that all manner of light skinned people actually introduced iron smelting to Africans not withstanding the abundance of iron ore on the continent (the pervasive red colour of the African soil should be a quick give away). Recent archeological findings are proving that iron smelting in Africa (including evidence from the Nsukka area) were contemporaneous ( or even earlier) with the earliest findings from anywhere in the world meaning that they couldn't have flowed from those places.

Our core religious practices are very similar to our Kwa speaking cousins. The words for core religious concepts can better illustrate this. Arushi/Alusi is deity in Igbo and Orisha for deity in Yoruba. Afa for divination in Igbo vs Ifa for divination in Yoruba. Medicine, Ogwu (Igbo), Ogun(Yoruba). These similarities are clear pointers to a common origin.

Any similarities may be because the Hebrew apparently spent some time in and borrowed heavily from Egypt which itself was an authentic African culture.

I feel embarrassed when people talk about Igbo being Jews. It's actually quite irritating.

Interesting interview. I was actually prepared to disagree with everything he said but found myself agreeing with a lot. Really interesting since I consider myself rather liberal. I found him quite erudite and enlightened ( if you can ignore his imaginary big daddy in the sky).

He made some important points. Government should have no business regulating religious activity. It's clearly against the constitution and gives politicians excessive powers (which they would ultimately abuse).

I equally share his misgivings regarding government interference in marriage. Marriage should be a contract between individuals. Since the public (either in general or as third parties) don't suffer possible jeopardy resulting from mariage between individuals, its's hard to justify government intervention in marriage. His stand on early marriage is not that clear. However, we must wonder if very young people are competent to enter or give their consent to the marriage contract.

He made another point about Emirship. Apart from my instinctive distaste for kings, he's right in his observation that the position is largely outdated and serves very little purpose( I was shocked to learn that these pretenders are entitled to 3% of local government statutory allocation SMH).

It's quite interesting that I share a lot of the same views with him (albeit from very different perspectives).
