While Atiku is better than Mumuharri (hardly a high bar - some domestic animals are better than the dullard), his promise of restructuring sounds too gimmicky. Following his discussions with the “mere commissioner”, I get the feeling that he doesn’t have a clear understanding of what exactly he’s restructuring.

Moreover, it’s also not very clear that he will even be successful given the lopsided nature of the legislative arm.

Additionally, I don’t think having PDP at the centre has been beneficial to us. Sure, our “big men” get a lot of lofty appointments but it also encouraged our local PDP governors to reign in impunity knowing that they can rely on “federal might” to rig the next elections. This is clearly the reason why Roaches will want to anoint his son-in-law to take over from him.

If we are supporting Mr Atiku because of “restructuring”, we should also have a Plan B where we will try to effect a piecemeal transition towards more decentralization by lobbying (read bribing) targeted legislators.

While it is easy to blame Apeeshit, we should remember that the PDP were no saints. Actually, the PDP (actually mostly) OBJ conducted some of the most ridiculously rigged elections in history. This accounts for the high level of apathy towards elections especially in my SE home region.

We need to realize that elections are important. It may not be a vehicle for providing the best leader but it ensures that we are able to live more peacefully with the results. It's either we have a democracy or we just get a honest dictatorship and stop wasting money on these elections and political office holders. As it is we are losing both ways.

How many of the current political jobbers/political office holders, masquerading as political leaders in Igboland know the true extent of Ala Igbo outside the SE? Even with the Advantage of Internet? Yet Zik knew them All in 1948. This should tell you the level of dearth in quality leadership we suffered after the war, when the victors subverted our true leaders and in their place, raised entities of despicable character and intellect, and foisted them on us gradually as political office holders.

Zik was right in recognizing the fact that Ndiigbo needed self determination in 1948, but without knowledge of hindsight, he errenously felt this self determination would be achieved and protected within the Nigerian context, instead of within an independent republic of Alaigbo. Hence Zik set us on a cyclic path that returned us back to where he met us in 1948 ,70yrs later. He chose the part of Nigeria Independence and unity.

What lesson is there for us to learn? Repeat Zik mistakes under a different nomenclature called "restructuring" or correct his mistakes by working on the everlasting solution of self determination?
The path towards progress for Ndiigbo is clear, if we only let our history and current realities guide us.

I believe that there is an emerging consensus for self determination as the path for the survival of our people. The key difference in opinions is mainly tactical.

Not withstanding the tactical considerations, two key facts must be faced;

1. We need to get rid of the present crop of political office holders in the SE. The events of last year is proof that the enemies within are even more of a hindrance than any external threats.

In this light therefore, I believe it’s time for IPOB and similar groups to re-examine the decision to boycott political participation in Nigeria. I am beginning to believe that this decision plays into the hands of these carpet baggers cum efulefus. These organizations need to come together, identify capable, authentic Igbo leaders and support those for political offices.

2. We need to realize that the rich world does not give sufficient a shit about Africa to care about justice on this continent. They expect injustice, barbarity and occasional mass murders. The civil war should’ve taught us that. We need to realize therefore that might is right and if we want to achieve our objectives, we can only rely on ourselves. It’s pure delusion to think that UN or anyone is going to grant us anything.

IMO therefore, the steps to take are; Seize back the political leadership of Igboland from the current crop of imposters. Thereafter, we work hard to build an economic powerhouse in our homeland. After achieving these, we can then have the resources to make the appropriate tactical choices for self determination.

you are truly speaking reality. I know Igbos here in Lagos who are not proud of their ethnic group because of peer pressure from non Igbos. Our parents are failing in their duty of promoting Igbo awareness to their children. I have some friends who told me that Ndigbo originated from Enugu. Can you imagine? Is it someone that doesn't know his history that will then defend igboland outside in the midst of outsiders?

If we don’t come together and develop our homeland and reverse the emigration trend then our culture will be lost. We need to get our best to take control of things back home.

Some of us think that the economic war against us (after the kinetic one ended) has been won because we are not all living in penury. However, I am of the opinion that we are losing this war if we can’t keep up with our peers in other parts of the world especially in SE Asia.

Also, how exactly can Anioma be an independent nation, if she is already part of the Igbo nation? Omu seem to be saying that Anioma is independent of the Igbo, and she further entrenched this view by saying that Anioma cannot be an "appendage" to anyone. I believe the anyone she is referring to here are Ndiigbo. Omu seem to believe that Uniting Anioma with SE would mean making her an appendage to SE. She is not alone in this narrow thought process, it's a view held by a significant portion of Anioma people. The goal seem to be to create an independent Anioma ethnic nationality, while working closely with Ndiigbo, and if possible, use our help, without our knowledge to achieve that.

I had argued this out with the Omu and her people on her facebook wall and they blocked me, after raining insults on me. They never denied my accusations of the Omu being chameleonic and using Ndiigbo to achieve her independent Anioma agenda.

This was after Omu was invited to Alaigbo Development project, and she started her speech there by reminding Ndiigbo that "Anioma is not an appendage of anyone (Ndiigbo) ".
Someone picked this up as a cryptic message, and refered us to her earlier article which I had posted, where she was campaigning for an independent Anioma nationality, and had used the same "appendage" statement. I was marveled and worried as well, when the person provided a link to her facebook wall, bearing the news article I had quoted.

That's the nature of these people once in Nigeria. Very discouraging.

I listened to that ADF speech and was very incensed. I wonder why they invited that silly woman. Her speech was filled with subtle and not so subtle jibes at SE’terners.

She kept giving a whole range of retarde.d advice. This ranged from Igbos must practice polygamy to increase our population to the one about placing jingles to get people to come back home. Then she was talking about “baby factories” and other such nonesense including how her synthetic so-called Anioma are superior because they have traditional stools for women. Then it was on about how our parents are failing because of IPOB. She is not Igbo and does not even understand our values.
